Shownotes

We’ve all been talking about cybersecurity for several years now, but the threat has been around much longer than that – and with every day that passes, the threat continues to grow and evolve.

But our guest, Paul Hugenberg, has pioneered a new line of defense for businesses and the customers they serve. Paul is co-founder and CEO of InfoGPS Networks, a software development company based out of North Canton that specializes in monitoring and leveraging data-at-rest for applications across a variety of markets. He shares what you need to know about the threats taking aim at our businesses today and how a different mindset can result in improved protection.

The Unique Threat of Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity poses a unique risk to organizations of all sizes. You may think your organization is too small or unimportant to be targeted, but organizations don’t need to be targeted to be cybersecurity victims. They just need to be “connected.”  Many threats are simply “scans” routinely cast across the internet that take advantage of whatever is caught.

The driving concern is about keeping data private and secure. Unfortunately, data is the fastest growing asset and it can be stolen (breached) without being physically removed (because most breaches are quiet copies).

If you use the internet for your business – or even have an internet connection – you will be interested in these other topics discussed in this episode:

  • What types of threats are putting businesses at risk today
  • The threats that you can handle without hiring an expert, and when is it important to bring in an outside expert to evaluate (or even correct) the cybersecurity posture of your organization
  • Why your organization should implement a cybersecurity framework
