Speaker:

I get asked a lot.

Speaker:

How I come up with the crazy ideas for my newsletter or how I create

Speaker:

so much content for LinkedIn, Instagram, and even for this podcast.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

I thought it might be fun for you to sit in on a meeting with me

Speaker:

in Deanna, my marketing manager.

Speaker:

Welcome to episode one 30 of the shit works and podcast dedicated to

Speaker:

all things, networking, relationship building and business development.

Speaker:

I'm your host, Julie Brown.

Speaker:

Professional speaker, author and networking coach.

Speaker:

And today.

Speaker:

You are listening in to learn how Deanna and I create a month's worth

Speaker:

of content in a one hour meeting.

Speaker:

The first Wednesday of the month, Deanna and I have a standing one hour

Speaker:

meeting to brainstorm the content for the entire next month coming up.

Speaker:

So on January 4th, while we were meeting to discuss all the content

Speaker:

for the month of February, we decided to hit record so that you could get a

Speaker:

firsthand look at how we come up with ideas together for an entire month.

Speaker:

This meeting wasn't scripted.

Speaker:

It is exactly how each of our meeting goes.

Speaker:

Just us coming up with ideas around a framework or what needs to be

Speaker:

produced four to five newsletters a month, eight reels, Instagram posts,

Speaker:

content for LinkedIn, et cetera.

Speaker:

I have not edited this audio.

Speaker:

So it happens exactly as you hear it.

Speaker:

Take a listen.

Deanna:

How was your Christmas?

Julie:

it was good.

Julie:

Everybody at my house had the flu.

Deanna:

Oh, shit.

Deanna:

Everybody

Julie:

not everybody.

Julie:

I'm sorry.

Julie:

I'm being so dramatic.

Julie:

I'm being so dramatic.

Julie:

It's was not everyone, it was everyone who needs assistance.

Julie:

So it was just the two kids.

Julie:

Um, and I was like paranoid that it was gonna be Matt and I, but we.

Julie:

Took think and and vitamin C every day, like whatever.

Julie:

I don't even know if they really had the flu.

Julie:

Like Jack definitely tested positive for the flu.

Julie:

I don't, Ruby didn't yet, but they were like, just give her Tama flu.

Julie:

But also Jack reacted to Tamiflu, like a frat boy who took one too many shots.

Julie:

Like we tried to give it to him and it came immediately back up

Deanna:

Oh.

Julie:

like, okay.

Julie:

And then.

Julie:

. We cleaned it up and we were like, okay, let's, because I was like, I think

Julie:

this is gonna make him feel better.

Julie:

Like maybe that was a fluke.

Julie:

Let's try in the kitchen over, like by the trashcan, just in case.

Julie:

I mean, he's three, I think it might've been the first time

Julie:

he ever really like threw up.

Julie:

So I tried to put that little, like, you know, for kids, you put that little

Julie:

syringe like right next to his lips and he just dry heaved and then kept baring.

Julie:

And we were like, all right, well Jack doesn't take it.

Deanna:

That when I dislocated my shoulder when I was in the clinic at

Deanna:

the mountain, they gave me a Percocet, and that's exactly what happened to me.

Deanna:

Like the guy put it in my mouth and gave me a little bit of water,

Deanna:

and then I went like on him.

Julie:

I was like in labor being like, please don't gimme Percocet.

Julie:

Nobody Gimme Percocet.

Julie:

Like, I was like having like contractions being like, you know, they would be

Julie:

like, are you allergic to anything?

Julie:

I'd be like, I don't think I'm allergic, but please nobody gimme Percocet.

Julie:

Cuz that's exactly what happens to me.

Julie:

Like so nauseous,

Deanna:

was immediate.

Deanna:

It was immediate, and the guy like jumped back and I was like, I'm so sorry.

Deanna:

Didn't mean to puke all over your dick.

Deanna:

Sorry.

Julie:

Oh my God.

Julie:

Yeah.

Julie:

I'm always like, how do

Deanna:

the time it's happened to him.

Julie:

well, I just dunno.

Julie:

I'm always like, how do people take those medicines for fun?

Julie:

That, I don't know.

Julie:

I

Deanna:

Oh, well I guess you build a tolerance

Julie:

you just gotta push through pke and rally, I guess,

Deanna:

you can wrap

Julie:

Oh my.

Julie:

okay.

Julie:

So the good news is February's kinda short.

Julie:

Um, so that's good.

Julie:

Uh,

Deanna:

do how, I still gotta do, somehow I still have to do four podcasts, but

Julie:

I know, I know.

Julie:

I thought about that when I

Deanna:

what.

Deanna:

February's always gonna have four weeks in it.

Deanna:

Four seven day weeks.

Julie:

just feels like almost every month we've been doing is five weeks,

Julie:

but I feel like that's not true,

Deanna:

I know, I know.

Julie:

Um, okay.

Julie:

We also have Valentine's Day.

Deanna:

Oh, fucking hate Valentine's Day.

Julie:

I know , so we gotta figure out how to talk about that.

Julie:

Um, other than that, like, let's start with any things you have coming up

Julie:

that you wanna highlight, Lindsay.

Deanna:

Janu.

Deanna:

Oh, Lindsay.

Deanna:

Yeah, but we haven't, um, a meeting with Lindsay next week so we don't have all the

Deanna:

information, so I can't get that to you.

Deanna:

until after I meet with her next week.

Deanna:

Cuz we're gonna hammer out, uh, you know, what the learning objectives are

Deanna:

and how much it's gonna cost and the how long it is and blah, blah, blah.

Deanna:

So I, I

Julie:

we know when it is?

Deanna:

right now.

Deanna:

Um, do we know when it is?

Deanna:

Let me look.

Deanna:

Um, we picked a day.

Deanna:

We sure did pick a day.

Deanna:

Hold on.

Deanna:

Fuck.

Deanna:

When did we pick?

Deanna:

Um, uh, right now, February 13th.

Deanna:

Ooh, the day before Valentine's Day, which I fucking hate.

Deanna:

Um, February 13th right now is set as the day, so I'll know next week

Deanna:

whether or not that's sticking.

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

I'm gonna put it down for a grid post, like the first week, like two

Julie:

six, to tell people to get ready.

Julie:

We did a teaser, we're doing a teaser reel at the end of January, so I think it

Julie:

would be good to have something posted.

Julie:

Um, and we'll know it by then.

Deanna:

I can tell, I'm gonna write this down.

Deanna:

Teaser.

Deanna:

It's on the 31st, right?

Julie:

Yeah.

Deanna:

1 31, so I can talk to her about it.

Deanna:

Teaser reel with Lindsay.

Julie:

Oh, it could be cool if she wants to film like a

Julie:

little, like just her waving

Deanna:

Yes.

Deanna:

I was

Julie:

that in.

Julie:

That would

Deanna:

back and forth, like, yeah.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

So a teaser reel together.

Deanna:

Together we go together like,

Julie:

Um,

Deanna:

going on vacation.

Deanna:

Um, in Janu this, oh shit, we're in February.

Deanna:

Forget it.

Deanna:

Um, sorry, just kidding.

Julie:

Um,

Deanna:

Okay, so here's the big thing, and I don't wanna make a big deal about it

Deanna:

until I, and let, cuz I might not get it.

Deanna:

But let's see if we have something in the can, in case I do get it.

Deanna:

But I would find out on February 3rd whether or not

Deanna:

I've made it to the TEDx stage.

Deanna:

That's the decision date.

Deanna:

But, oh, again, it, it might come end of day on February 3rd, so I wouldn't be

Deanna:

able to post anything until end of day, February 3rd or Saturday the fourth.

Julie:

Okay, let's make that a post.

Julie:

Right?

Julie:

That would be like a, we'll make a, um, a post

Deanna:

I mean, we could do it for the Monday.

Deanna:

It, you know, we don't have to do it the day I've, I get

Julie:

like for the,

Deanna:

for the whatever the sixth is.

Deanna:

Yeah, the

Julie:

Yeah, yeah.

Julie:

Okay.

Deanna:

So that's an idea.

Deanna:

I mean, I don't know.

Deanna:

I, so I find, I mean this all might be moot.

Deanna:

I find out, um, this Friday, whether or not I've made it to the audition round,

Julie:

Okay.

Deanna:

the auditions would be January 18th and January 22nd, and then I

Deanna:

would find out on the third whether or not I've made it to the stage.

Julie:

I think that deserves its own post.

Julie:

So cuz we were saying two six would be Lindsay.

Julie:

So why don't we do like two, four, like a post, um, like

Deanna:

that's a Saturday.

Deanna:

Do we normally do posts on Saturdays?

Julie:

We don't.

Julie:

But is that okay?

Deanna:

That's, yeah.

Deanna:

Yeah, yeah.

Deanna:

But, but we, let's take it off the schedule in case and wait.

Deanna:

, you know, in case I don't make it

Julie:

It's just a bonus.

Julie:

It's a bonus one.

Julie:

We're just manifesting it.

Julie:

So we'll just do a little bonus one if we need it.

Julie:

Cool.

Julie:

If we don't need it, what else?

Julie:

idiots.

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Um,

Deanna:

Um, two, uh, two five is Madeline's fifth birthday.

Julie:

oh.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

And

Julie:

do a Rio.

Julie:

Let's do a fun Rio with pictures of her.

Julie:

Do you wanna do

Deanna:

Perfect.

Deanna:

Two.

Deanna:

How many do you want?

Deanna:

Do you want a million pictures of Madeline?

Deanna:

Is that how many you want

Julie:

1 million like fast beats.

Julie:

Just keep em

Deanna:

Yeah, you know what can we do?

Deanna:

One of like the trending, like beat , sounds on like an audio.

Deanna:

Can we pick an audio one where it's like, you know what, you know that

Deanna:

real sound like just one of the trending like sounds for carousels.

Julie:

Yes, for sure.

Julie:

Do you wanna do it on the second or the seventh to say her birthday's coming

Julie:

up or her birthday just happened?

Deanna:

Let's do it.

Deanna:

What do you think?

Deanna:

Should I do it before or should I do it?

Deanna:

I mean, nobody fucking knows my dog's actual birthday,

Julie:

true.

Julie:

Well, I was thinking maybe after and just what do you think?

Julie:

Where were you gonna

Deanna:

I don't care.

Deanna:

No one, no one but me.

Deanna:

And you now know her is her actual birthday and then all of

Deanna:

a sudden, you know what's gonna happen is like German shirt, hair,

Deanna:

point of rescue of New Jersey.

Deanna:

It's gonna be like, it's not her actual birthday, you know She's born on the fifth

Julie:

Oh my gosh.

Julie:

Is this her birthday or her gotcha day

Deanna:

No, it's her birthday because we rescued her.

Deanna:

From, you know, so her mom was rescued pregnant, so we know her actual birthday.

Deanna:

Her gotcha day is April.

Deanna:

April 9th

Julie:

Mm-hmm.

Deanna:

is her Gotcha day.

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Well

Deanna:

when we drove down to get her, huh?

Julie:

it's just fun that you know, her

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Julie:

usually know.

Julie:

Um, okay.

Julie:

I definitely think Valentine's Day, you should do a reel

Julie:

about hating Valentine's Day.

Deanna:

Yeah, but maybe it's like other things I hate, like olives and

Deanna:

cantaloupe in the insides of tomatoes.

Deanna:

Um, Yeah.

Deanna:

Well let's do a reel on things I hate, like olives, cantaloupe,

Deanna:

the insides of tomatoes.

Deanna:

Um, I'll come up with some other shit I hate cuz I know, I mean, uh,

Deanna:

all right, let me write this down.

Deanna:

Shit I hate.

Julie:

So does that mean you like the outside of tomatoes?

Deanna:

No, but I just, I hate, you know, I hate, you know what I'm like

Deanna:

jealous of, I'm like jealous of people who drink bloody Mary's, like who

Deanna:

go to Sunday brunch and drink Bloody Mary's because it has like a bacon

Deanna:

strip and a mini burger and like a colossal shrimp and like all this a

Deanna:

pickle, the sizes your, of your arm.

Deanna:

You know, I'm like so jealous because I.

Deanna:

Cold tomatoes.

Deanna:

Like I can do tomato soup.

Deanna:

I can't do gazpacho.

Deanna:

I can do sun dried tomatoes or tomato sauce, but I can't do like a fresh

Deanna:

tomato like, or, or I love salsa.

Deanna:

I don't, I get

Julie:

do you like ketchup?

Deanna:

I love ketchup, but it's been cooked.

Julie:

Yeah.

Julie:

Yeah,

Deanna:

has been cooked,

Julie:

And salsa has so many other flavors.

Julie:

I feel like tomato is not really the like predominant flavor.

Deanna:

So I need to get a list of other things I hate, which I'm sure

Deanna:

I can, I can, um, come up with a lot.

Julie:

Um, the reason I ask so many questions, cuz I also

Julie:

feel similarly about tomatoes.

Julie:

Um, but I also, I hate ketchup, but my favorite food is french fries,

Julie:

so I'm just a walking contradiction.

Deanna:

you watch only murders in the building?

Deanna:

Did you watch that show?

Julie:

I think we might have to watch one more season.

Deanna:

Oh, okay.

Deanna:

So watch the second season because the inside of tomatoes plays

Deanna:

a role in the second season.

Julie:

Okay.

Deanna:

Yeah, and, and the second season, I mean, it's all comedic genius.

Deanna:

It's all fucking comedic genius.

Julie:

Mm-hmm.

Julie:

. Yeah.

Julie:

And you love true crime, so it makes

Deanna:

And I love true crime.

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

What else?

Julie:

Anything else important?

Julie:

Like we

Deanna:

no.

Deanna:

I mean, January is pretty like, I mean, I got, I mean, oh,

Deanna:

February, we're into February.

Deanna:

I keep forgetting.

Deanna:

We're in February.

Deanna:

Um, no.

Deanna:

Mm-hmm.

Deanna:

February is pretty quiet right now.

Deanna:

You never know.

Deanna:

It could change, but.

Julie:

All right.

Julie:

Let me see here.

Deanna:

If I get selected for the, if I get selected for the TED Talk, I have a

Deanna:

mandatory speaker bootcamp on February 11th where I would be like practicing.

Deanna:

So we could do think something about prac, like the importance of practice and.

Deanna:

We could do a fun thing with bootcamp cuz I love bootcamps and working out.

Deanna:

I did bootcamp this morning and then afterwards when I was done, it was

Deanna:

a Jock Jams bootcamp and it was like afterwards I literally laid in a puddle

Deanna:

of my own sweat on the gym floor and just didn't even move for a while.

Deanna:

I was like, I am too old for this shit.

Deanna:

I'm almost 50 years old.

Deanna:

What am I doing?

Deanna:

A million burpees for

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Um, cool.

Julie:

Let me think.

Julie:

Let me think.

Julie:

Um,

Deanna:

I am taking a girl's ski week, well, it's not really a girl's ski week,

Deanna:

but one week where we decide to work from our houses in Vermont like the girls do.

Deanna:

And um, so that's the week of February 6th.

Deanna:

So, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth.

Deanna:

I'd have to come home on the 10th for the bootcamp.

Deanna:

Um, but we could do something fun about Oh, oh, no, cuz that's the

Deanna:

week before Valentine's bed, but it's kind of like Valentine's Day.

Deanna:

But like the importance of like girlfriends and all of these girls

Deanna:

I made friends with as an adult.

Deanna:

So I was 30 se 6 37 when I.

Deanna:

Sue and then Connie and, um, Jan.

Deanna:

I, well I met Jan in my late twenties cuz she was my neighbor.

Deanna:

But, um, something about making girl lifelong friends as an adult, like

Julie:

Yes.

Deanna:

so the rest

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

I'm gonna do.

Deanna:

there's lifelong friends.

Deanna:

Were just like, okay friends you had as kids, but what about the

Deanna:

rest of your lifelong friends?

Deanna:

Like, I like that term rest of your lifelong friends.

Julie:

Rest of your life.

Julie:

I like too, rest of your life.

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Um, I'm gonna put that on the third.

Julie:

I'm gonna do the, I'm gonna do a post of that.

Julie:

I'm gonna do a grid post for that.

Deanna:

Okay, and I'll take some pictures in Vermont.

Deanna:

I'll make sure

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Perfect.

Julie:

Ooh, that'd be fun.

Julie:

Maybe a carousel post.

Deanna:

mm-hmm.

Julie:

Um, okay.

Julie:

When is Valentine's?

Julie:

That's fun.

Julie:

When is

Deanna:

Isn't it Valentine's?

Deanna:

Isn't it Valentine's Day or is it the day after?

Deanna:

Google it.

Deanna:

Let's see, when

Julie:

February 13th.

Deanna:

Ah,

Julie:

So that's actually perfect.

Julie:

That's the Monday for that, that grid.

Julie:

So

Deanna:

yeah.

Deanna:

Perfect,

Julie:

out to my Valentine's.

Julie:

Love

Deanna:

Here.

Deanna:

Two 13.

Deanna:

Okay.

Julie:

Um,

Deanna:

Okay.

Deanna:

And then two 14 is should I hate.

Deanna:

Okay.

Julie:

Um, I mean, do you and Chris do anything for Valentine's

Julie:

Day or you just hate it so much?

Julie:

Oh, wait, you get candy on sale?

Julie:

I feel like we

Deanna:

I get ca, oh, oh, I go to CVS the next day.

Deanna:

I'm like sucking 75% off.

Deanna:

That's also a product of growing up on welfare,

Julie:

yes.

Julie:

Um, Okay, wait, that's a, that's also an email for this

Deanna:

I was just gonna say, that's an email.

Deanna:

So February 15th is a Wednesday, so it's the day after Thanksgiving.

Deanna:

Thanksgiving, the day after Valentine's Day, and.

Deanna:

One of my friends, whenever he sees me do shit like that, still calls me welfare.

Deanna:

Julie, he's like, Ooh, the welfare.

Deanna:

Julie's coming out like whenever he sees me like stealing shit, I don't care.

Deanna:

I could win that billion dollar fucking Powerball That it.

Deanna:

Alright, people listening, we're recording it right now.

Deanna:

The Powerball is almost a billion dollars.

Deanna:

Nobody just won it in a bajillion years and I could win that

Deanna:

Powerball and I would still go the day after for the 75% off candy.

Julie:

I know.

Julie:

Well, it's the same candy.

Deanna:

it's baked inside my brain.

Deanna:

Like why play full price when you could pay 75% off?

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Do we want

Deanna:

reason why I, oh no, I think it's, I think it, or I think it's an email.

Deanna:

Don't you think it's an email?

Deanna:

Something about, I don't know.

Deanna:

It's hard because it's like, it's hard to make an email about

Deanna:

justifying only paying 75% off when I want people to pay my full fee.

Deanna:

I don't know.

Deanna:

I'm even shoot myself in the foot on this one, Deanna.

Deanna:

Maybe not.

Julie:

okay.

Julie:

No.

Julie:

Well, okay, so on the 18th our emails about the recession and your nana.

Deanna:

Wait a minute.

Deanna:

There isn't an email on the 18th.

Deanna:

It's on the, our date.

Deanna:

Oh, January.

Deanna:

Oh, oh, okay.

Deanna:

Yeah, the, I can't wait for that email.

Julie:

just, I know.

Julie:

So we can just, maybe, I think it would be kind of funny cuz

Julie:

it would be for the post, like a grid post would be, um, the 20th.

Julie:

So it would be like the week after.

Julie:

And it, I'm just picturing like this funny sort of collage of.

Julie:

You know, mark down candy, chocolates, whatever.

Julie:

And you could just talk about how, like, why, why would you

Julie:

pay full price like your nana?

Julie:

Like, you can even be like, you know, recession.

Julie:

The last month I sent an email about my nana and how she, you know,

Julie:

like this is just baked into me.

Julie:

I think that could be kind of fun, but it could be a real too.

Deanna:

Hmm.

Deanna:

Yeah, it could

Julie:

it goes along also with your grins of Valentine's,

Deanna:

oh,

Julie:

is funny to me.

Deanna:

so, so hate it.

Deanna:

I mean, it's just tell me, let me some other day.

Deanna:

You know, it's like, don't tell me on the 14th of February.

Deanna:

Um, and also like, Restaurants are charging like, oh, we

Deanna:

only have a price fixed menu.

Deanna:

It's $200 a person.

Deanna:

It's the same fucking food that was on your menu for half price the day before.

Deanna:

Okay.

Deanna:

Like I just hate the whole, I just hate la.

Deanna:

I just hate all of it.

Deanna:

Like I just hate all of it.

Deanna:

Did we, wait a minute.

Deanna:

I feel like we didn't come to terms on what we're doing around Valentine State.

Deanna:

Hold on.

Julie:

Should do you wanna do, do you wanna do candy on sale?

Deanna:

Did we do it last year?

Deanna:

I feel like we might have done it last

Julie:

I think we mentioned it, but I think it was more of like a gift

Julie:

that said, um, fuck Valentine's Day, or something like that.

Deanna:

Hmm.

Deanna:

I can't remember.

Deanna:

Um,

Julie:

I mean, we don't have to.

Deanna:

are we looking at it as a post or a reel or a newsletter?

Deanna:

Like

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Wait, hold on.

Julie:

Hold on.

Julie:

you.

Julie:

Sounds like you don't like, like you're saying, tell me you love me all year.

Julie:

I think that this goes into networking.

Julie:

You know what I, well, not like all year, but like, you

Julie:

know, not on just this one day.

Julie:

So

Deanna:

Love you.

Julie:

So I do feel like this might be an email where you can talk about how.

Julie:

. You can't just like tell people you love them, like when you need

Julie:

something or when it's a special day or when you go to a networking

Deanna:

or when the calendar tells you to, yeah,

Julie:

you to.

Julie:

Yeah, like you need to be be there all month, be present, or not all month.

Julie:

All, all the time forever.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Julie:

lifetime friend.

Julie:

Um,

Deanna:

Yes.

Deanna:

Rest of your lifetime, friend.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

I love that saying I'm gonna use that.

Deanna:

Maybe it'll make it into my Ted Talk

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Let's see here.

Julie:

So we have, yeah, I mean, an email goes out on the 15th,

Julie:

an email, so that makes sense.

Julie:

And we could talk about that

Deanna:

How many people did you say you loved Y yesterday?

Deanna:

Because you were told to,

Julie:

mm-hmm.

Deanna:

it was the date, not because you actually had the,

Deanna:

the feeling inside to say it.

Deanna:

Like you should have that feeling all the time.

Deanna:

Um.

Deanna:

I don't know.

Deanna:

There's this thing because it was just Madeline's birthday that

Deanna:

like, I literally tell Madeline I love her 7,000 times a day.

Deanna:

Like to the point where my husband's like, do you think you told her enough?

Deanna:

And I'm like, I feel like there's something in there.

Deanna:

Like maybe you should treat your network like a dog.

Deanna:

Like tell them you love them way too many times a day.

Julie:

Yes.

Deanna:

about.

Deanna:

Post pictures.

Julie:

Um, okay, wait.

Julie:

Love it.

Julie:

Love it, love it.

Julie:

Um, okay.

Julie:

Sorry, I'm looking at my calendar.

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Um, Okay.

Julie:

Vulnerability alert.

Julie:

Do you wanna tell people

Deanna:

Oh,

Julie:

I mean, we're recording this.

Julie:

I mean, guess we can edit it, but do you wanna tell people that you're

Julie:

trying out for the TEDx thing?

Deanna:

People know.

Deanna:

I put it, I said it on my podcast already, that it was something that

Deanna:

it's, it's a, you know, corporate, you know, career bucket list thing for me

Deanna:

and that I've been working with a coach and that I applied to one and, Hey,

Deanna:

listen, people know, and if I don't get it, I'll apply to another one.

Deanna:

And if I don't get that, I'll apply to another one.

Deanna:

I mean, that's just how it works.

Deanna:

You don't, not many people apply to their first TED and get.

Julie:

Mm-hmm.

Julie:

. Mm-hmm.

Deanna:

and Mercury is in fucking retrograde four times this year.

Deanna:

Did you know that?

Deanna:

I don't even know what Mercury and retrograde means, except

Deanna:

for it fucks shit up, and it's happening four times this year.

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Well that's a post

Deanna:

Oh my God.

Deanna:

Hold on.

Deanna:

When?

Deanna:

When?

Deanna:

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

Deanna:

Shit.

Deanna:

Is Mercury going into retrograde?

Deanna:

Oh, mercury goes into retrograde on the day of the audition.

Julie:

Oh no.

Deanna:

January 18th.

Julie:

Okay,

Deanna:

Yikes.

Julie:

for you.

Julie:

That's good luck,

Deanna:

Maybe.

Deanna:

Maybe.

Deanna:

Okay.

Julie:

So do you wanna talk about, maybe, like you said, you find out.

Julie:

on the third.

Julie:

Do you wanna send an email on the first just talking about how you're

Julie:

getting ready to know yes or no, but also that you're gonna reapply and

Julie:

that people don't usually get it.

Julie:

All the things you just said, bucket list thing.

Julie:

Like you're on the edge of your seat, but

Deanna:

Mm.

Deanna:

I don't know.

Deanna:

That may be too, a little too vulnerable for me.

Deanna:

That's a little too, yeah.

Julie:

Too much.

Julie:

Too much.

Julie:

Should we pencil in the eighth for talking about if you got it or not?

Deanna:

So when am I finding out

Julie:

hopefully you got it.

Deanna:

Um, yeah, I don't think it's a standalone.

Deanna:

Um, I don't think it's a standalone email.

Deanna:

I think we have to weave in a few other things, but

Julie:

Okay.

Deanna:

you know, maybe it's something about goal setting.

Deanna:

You, you know, it took me a year and a half to write my book, but before

Deanna:

that, it was a goal for a long time.

Julie:

Mm-hmm.

Deanna:

something about coaching in here, because I tried to do

Deanna:

it on my own for a long time.

Deanna:

The book, I tried to do it on my own for a long time, and then I was like,

Deanna:

I'm not doing the, I, I just can't.

Deanna:

I need a coach.

Deanna:

So I hired a book writing Coach Valla, a year and a half.

Deanna:

. I published my book and when I wanted to do a Ted I was like,

Deanna:

I can't do this on my own.

Deanna:

And I've been working with my TED coach for six months, so if I get accepted,

Deanna:

part of it is probably because she helped me through the application

Deanna:

process, you know, so there's something about working with a coach there.

Deanna:

Um, it were, it's February, so, um, no, it's not March Madness.

Deanna:

So I can't, we can't talk about like coaching.

Deanna:

Um, when's the, when's the Super Bowl?

Julie:

Um, what about in that email?

Julie:

Like you don't know what you don't know, kind of a kind of a thing

Deanna:

Sunday, February 12th.

Deanna:

Okay.

Julie:

everything's happening like the first week or 2nd of February, I'm

Deanna:

I know.

Julie:

something on the end of February?

Deanna:

Um, well, I wrote down some ideas.

Deanna:

I have some idea.

Deanna:

I did a little writing session yesterday, so I have some ideas

Deanna:

for like, just funny things.

Julie:

Cool.

Deanna:

Yeah, I mean it could, it something in there about coaching and

Deanna:

maybe I should come up with releasing more like a group coaching or something

Deanna:

like that to go with this email.

Deanna:

Like, set a day to do group coaching cuz so many people are on the waiting list

Deanna:

for the ones to one-to-one coaching.

Deanna:

Um, and what, what date are we talking about right now?

Julie:

The eighth.

Deanna:

eighth.

Deanna:

Uh, oh my God.

Deanna:

We could talk about like a Valentine's.

Deanna:

No, maybe I was gonna take, we could talk about Valentine's Day special that I,

Deanna:

cuz I hate Valentine's Day and do like, I don't know so much percent off like, oh.

Deanna:

But it would have to be on the day after Valentine's Day, the coaching,

Deanna:

because I would be like, and just like the candy, you can get this

Deanna:

for such and such percent off.

Deanna:

I'd have to like pass it through Kate the, the business manager to see if she would.

Deanna:

Discounting my price.

Deanna:

But um, that's something we could do on the 15th.

Deanna:

We could

Julie:

Yeah.

Deanna:

yeah.

Deanna:

Um, so we could say, because of my love of, um, all things discounted

Deanna:

and bargained priced , uh, and I could only do like three of 'em

Deanna:

because it's an hour of my time.

Deanna:

You know, I could only do like three of 'em.

Deanna:

But I could say like, there are three spots.

Deanna:

Everybody loves a throuple, um, , uh, three spots for.

Deanna:

Coaching just on this day.

Deanna:

First come, first serve.

Deanna:

They are, if they're 500 bucks an hour right now and I did

Deanna:

50% off, they'd be 250 bucks.

Julie:

Yeah.

Julie:

Yeah.

Deanna:

Okay.

Deanna:

But now, now do, now we go back to the eighth and we're talking,

Deanna:

we're talking about coaching.

Deanna:

So we'll figure something out, out, out there.

Deanna:

We'll come up with like some good coaching analogies or.

Deanna:

Something like that.

Julie:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Julie:

Um, got it.

Julie:

Got all that.

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Do you care about the Super Bowl?

Julie:

I could mention the

Deanna:

I mean, I care about

Julie:

Super Bowl if you didn't have a coach?

Julie:

Can you imagine a football team if

Deanna:

What would the, what would the, what would the Super

Deanna:

Bowl look like if both teams didn't have a coach on the side?

Deanna:

That's a great analogy.

Deanna:

It would, it would just be a bunch of people running around saying,

Deanna:

who's got the ball, you know?

Deanna:

Somebody's gotta call the plays.

Deanna:

Somebody's gotta design the plays, and then you execute them.

Deanna:

Like that's what you do as the player, you execute them.

Deanna:

So I like that.

Deanna:

And I, I, it doesn't matter who's playing, I'll always watch the Super

Deanna:

Bowl because I like an excuse to drink and eat on a Sunday night.

Deanna:

So

Julie:

Yeah, I was gonna say, I like, I like some chips and dip.

Deanna:

yeah, I like a little nacho action.

Julie:

yeah.

Julie:

Um, okay.

Julie:

Cool, cool, cool.

Julie:

Lemme see.

Julie:

Then we have,

Deanna:

Oh, okay.

Deanna:

So we have to figure this out cuz I texted you this last month and

Deanna:

maybe this is, maybe this is its own newsletter about making mistakes.

Deanna:

So first thing you know how I write all of my emails are signed.

Deanna:

Cheers.

Julie:

Mm-hmm.

Deanna:

I wanted you to design that thing at the bottom of my

Deanna:

email, because I'm sick of writing.

Deanna:

Cheers, bd, jb after every e email, which sounds like weird, but

Deanna:

like with how many emails I write a day, it actually takes time.

Deanna:

But that was one of the reasons why I wanted you to design that.

Deanna:

The second was is I'm always afraid I'm not gonna spell it right, that

Deanna:

I'm gonna write shares and it's gonna.

Deanna:

Like, share.

Deanna:

And I did it.

Deanna:

I fucking did it, Deanna.

Deanna:

I, I wrote cheers, but it didn't, I didn't say cheers.

Deanna:

I said shares and I'm, and I just pictured like a gif of Cher at the end of my email.

Deanna:

And then I was, and the person didn't even notice, like, are they not

Deanna:

even reading that I write Cheers.

Deanna:

Like they didn't even know.

Deanna:

I expected they to them to come back and like shares and Julie like whatever.

Deanna:

But they didn't.

Deanna:

So that happened.

Deanna:

and then a couple days later was when I texted you at that event.

Deanna:

And I, you know, so it was an event for Chris.

Deanna:

So no, only a few people knew me.

Deanna:

So people were like, oh, and who do you work with?

Deanna:

I tried to say, I'm his sidekick and I said, I'm his sidepiece and

Deanna:

the look on the guy's face.

Deanna:

And then I was like, oh, that's, that's hilarious.

Deanna:

We are using this.

Deanna:

And I was like, I, I need a moment.

Deanna:

I need to text my marketing manager.

Deanna:

This is hilarious.

Deanna:

. He didn't, that guy didn't know what to do with Leela.

Deanna:

He didn't know if Chris had taken, he's like, mistress to like an

Julie:

Yeah.

Deanna:

I'm like, I'm a sad piece Trixie.

Julie:

my gosh.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

So that was a mistake because people ask me all the time like,

Deanna:

do you make mistakes in networking?

Deanna:

I'm like, yes, all the time.

Deanna:

All the time.

Deanna:

So I mean, I'm sure I could come up with some more, more mistakes that

Deanna:

I've done, which is totally fine.

Deanna:

But like those two happened, one after another and I was like, oh

Deanna:

my God, I just, maybe I'm tired.

Deanna:

Maybe this is the end of the year, you know?

Deanna:

So, I don't know.

Deanna:

I think that there's something there.

Deanna:

Making mistakes and going too fast.

Deanna:

And it was the end of the year.

Deanna:

Um,

Julie:

I think it's also about, um, like, it's funny that you said the

Julie:

person didn't even notice, because

Deanna:

no.

Deanna:

Didn't even notice.

Julie:

out and we're like, oh, I'm gonna screw up.

Julie:

I'm gonna do this thing.

Julie:

And then it turns out they don't even notice or it's really freaking funny.

Julie:

Like it's, it's like you don't have to like freak out about it.

Julie:

It could, it could work out.

Julie:

Like it could be fine.

Julie:

It could either be fine and not even noticed or it.

Julie:

Be a

Deanna:

We ended up, I ended up like saying, oh my God,

Deanna:

like that came out wrong.

Deanna:

Like, I'm his sidekick.

Deanna:

I said, I said, I've been his, we've been together for 21 years.

Deanna:

I don't think he could still call me a sidepiece and like it ended up being

Deanna:

super funny, but like the look on the guy's face when I first said it, and I

Deanna:

didn't even realize I had said something wrong until, Face, and then I like

Deanna:

had to rewind the tape in my brain.

Deanna:

I was like, oh,

Julie:

Oh my gosh.

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Julie:

I always have to type.

Julie:

I feel like I can be like, um, What are those people in the courtroom?

Julie:

I could be

Deanna:

oh, stenographers.

Julie:

Yeah, it's me now.

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Yes, that is an email.

Julie:

I think we just sent that on the first, cuz it's like, I feel like once February

Julie:

hits, people are thinking of like Valentine's and LA and not that we're

Julie:

gonna even mention Valentine's, but I just think it's funny side, like the,

Deanna:

So is this coming out on the first?

Deanna:

Is this coming out on the first?

Deanna:

Okay.

Deanna:

Okay, so I have another thing that, ha, hold on.

Deanna:

I have another thing that happened that maybe we can figure out how

Deanna:

to talk about it, because I'll have just gotten back from Barbados.

Deanna:

So I'm in Barbados, the 23rd to the 28th.

Deanna:

That's a short vacation when I was on vacation.

Deanna:

Back in September we were in Grenada and I packed a lot of bathing suits and

Deanna:

I had this one bathing suit where it had lost some of its elasticity and I

Deanna:

really didn't think too much about it.

Deanna:

You know, it just wasn't as tight as it used to be.

Deanna:

And I was talking, we, you know, you get friends with couples next to you on the

Deanna:

beach and you see each other cuz you're always in the same chairs, you know?

Deanna:

And so like the third

Julie:

Are you at White Lotus in this story?

Julie:

, have you seen White Lotus

Deanna:

No, I have, it's on our list cuz we don't have HBO O right now.

Deanna:

So

Julie:

that?

Deanna:

the third day I'm like, same, same couple with St.

Deanna:

I remember their names, Tracy and Sid.

Deanna:

Same couple next to us.

Deanna:

And I was wearing this bathing suit, new BA because I wore a

Deanna:

different bathing suit every day.

Deanna:

Cause they're like wet and you don't wanna put 'em back on.

Deanna:

and I bent over to move my lo my beach chair, and my entire tit fell outta my

Deanna:

bathing suit right in this dude's face.

Deanna:

I swear to God.

Deanna:

And I, I like reared up and covered myself and popped my boob back in

Deanna:

my thing and then I was like, I am so sorry, I just flashed you.

Deanna:

And he was like, Like he didn't even know he . Now, maybe it's cause my boobs

Deanna:

are really small, but also because he just wasn't thinking about me as much as

Deanna:

I was thinking about myself, you know?

Deanna:

So we could almost say that it happened in Barbados because Barbados is right.

Deanna:

Beforehand I'd be like, oh, and last week when I, when I flashed, my

Deanna:

boob fell out on the beach you know,

Julie:

talk about mistakes slip.

Julie:

It's fine.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

Yeah, I mean, just, just a little nip slip.

Deanna:

I mean, it just, I mean, honestly, so,

Julie:

Yeah.

Julie:

Yeah.

Julie:

Those are funny.

Julie:

. That's good.

Deanna:

that, that, that

Julie:

magic number.

Julie:

I kind of ate it when there's not like three examples of something

Deanna:

Okay.

Deanna:

So speaking of three as a magic number, I don't know if this belongs anywhere.

Deanna:

Um, remember we talked about, this was ages ago, and there's something here on.

Deanna:

on body positivity or something.

Deanna:

But remember we talked about how my nana, when I was like 10, used

Deanna:

to put me on that three day diet

Julie:

Mm-hmm.

Julie:

? Mm-hmm.

Deanna:

Because I used to live with my nana in the summer.

Deanna:

Because my mom didn't have, you know, childcare or anything like that.

Deanna:

Um, so it was like always the first week of summer vacation, she'd be like,

Deanna:

okay, try trying to drop them lbs.

Deanna:

Trying to get on the three day diet, you know, where you were eating like cottage

Deanna:

cheese and saltine crackers or like an egg and a grapefruit and like black coffee.

Deanna:

Like fucking, fucking,

Julie:

Una.

Deanna:

fucking te Yeah.

Deanna:

Tuna, no mayo, you know, on a piece of dry toast, you know?

Deanna:

And.

Deanna:

and she would make me do it ev religiously, throughout the summer, like

Deanna:

every like hour, like month or whatever.

Deanna:

But it was always like the beginning of the summer and she

Deanna:

was like, would weigh us every day.

Deanna:

And then she was like, oh, you only lost six pounds.

Deanna:

I was 10 , like a 10th of my weight , like, um.

Deanna:

So I don't know.

Deanna:

There's something here about.

Deanna:

I don't know.

Deanna:

We might, it might only be a post or something like, I don't know.

Deanna:

But like, I just keep thinking , so I'm reading this book right

Deanna:

now from Jeanette McCurdy.

Deanna:

Do you know this book?

Deanna:

I, I'm glad my mom died.

Julie:

No, I, I just, I just, where did I literally just

Julie:

read about that this morning?

Julie:

I'm like, did you email me about that?

Deanna:

Somebody, no, somebody had it in their email.

Deanna:

Somebody were probably on the same email thread.

Deanna:

Uh, somebody had it in their email yesterday and I was like, oh look,

Deanna:

I'm already reading that book.

Deanna:

Um,

Julie:

Kathleen, Kathleen.

Julie:

Kathleen had it.

Julie:

Sorry, are you on Kathleen O's anyways?

Deanna:

No, so it was somebody else else's newsletter.

Deanna:

So she was, and I didn't watch the show.

Deanna:

I was too old for it.

Deanna:

She was on iCarly, on Nickelodeon or something like that or whatever, and it's

Deanna:

all about how her mom like pushed her into acting and made her go on a thousand

Deanna:

calorie diet when she was like seven years old and like how she was like 60 pounds.

Deanna:

And the doctors were like, she's anorexic.

Deanna:

Like you should really watch what she eats.

Deanna:

And she's like, mm-hmm.

Deanna:

. I'm watching what she eats anyways, so I haven't finished the book yet.

Deanna:

I'm like halfway through the book, but the name of the book

Deanna:

is, I'm Glad My Dad, my mom Died.

Deanna:

And it's a picture of her holding, holding her mother's urn

Julie:

Oh my gosh.

Deanna:

and I wonder like how many people have those.

Deanna:

Because I, you know, my nana died last year and I was like, well, there goes

Deanna:

that, because she was so, like, it was so bad, like how she treated us.

Deanna:

Like, and, and the dieting is only just the beginning of it, you know?

Deanna:

Um, but I don't know, like the, I'm just reading this book and

Deanna:

I'm like, Grief is a weird thing and, and moving through childhood

Deanna:

trauma is a real, is a weird thing.

Deanna:

And things you realize about yourself.

Deanna:

Um, when you discover, you know, that what your childhood was

Deanna:

actually abusive and traumatic, um,

Julie:

know.

Julie:

Isn't that weird how you sometimes don't even know?

Julie:

You're like, oh,

Deanna:

you're like, oh,

Julie:

my nana putting me on a night.

Julie:

Yeah.

Julie:

Weird.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Julie:

All right.

Deanna:

and there, there's so many, like, I, so I don't know, I

Deanna:

don't know where we're going with this, but there might be something

Deanna:

there about moving, acknowledging, and moving through something.

Deanna:

I don't know.

Deanna:

Um,

Julie:

could be a reel.

Julie:

Couldn't that be a reel?

Julie:

Where you like, shout out that book.

Julie:

We can tag the author Who

Deanna:

yeah, I mean, I l I,

Julie:

this book and it's so fascinating to me and like I

Julie:

can relate whether we like.

Julie:

. You might not even need to say that in the reel, but we could talk about nana.

Julie:

Your nana in the caption or something.

Julie:

Like, my nana putting me on a do like, that was like, now looking

Julie:

back, I'm like, oh, that was not okay.

Julie:

You know, like

Deanna:

10 year olds shouldn't be put on diets when they're

Deanna:

actually at a healthy weight , you

Julie:

yeah,

Deanna:

Um,

Julie:

yeah,

Deanna:

So there's something there.

Deanna:

There's something

Julie:

yeah, for sure.

Julie:

Um, What else?

Julie:

Um, I wanna do more reels that are clips from your talks.

Julie:

And also, do you mind, can I just do them?

Julie:

Like is there a

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

Go in there and figure, I mean, it, it, uh, let me share.

Deanna:

Okay, so let me share a folder with you cuz I, I made a folder for the

Deanna:

guy on Fiver who's doing the speaker reel, where I already broke down that

Deanna:

large keynote into a lot of individual

Julie:

I have that in,

Deanna:

just, oh, you do?

Julie:

yeah.

Julie:

Mm-hmm.

Deanna:

Oh, oh, okay.

Deanna:

You

Julie:

So I'll just, you don't care if I just go through 'em,

Deanna:

you have access to that five folder.

Julie:

well, not a Fiver folder, but in Descript I have all those little clips.

Deanna:

oh, oh, oh, okay.

Deanna:

Um, okay, well I,

Julie:

'em out?

Deanna:

yeah, but let me just give you access to this folder

Deanna:

anyways, um, just to make sure.

Deanna:

Okay, so, oh,

Julie:

Was it like a Google Drive folder?

Deanna:

it's a Google Drive folder.

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Yeah.

Deanna:

Um, where, cuz I've just broken down a lot of them anyways.

Deanna:

And there's, I think there's other videos in there that you haven't

Deanna:

seen before, like other recordings that you haven't seen before.

Deanna:

So let me just, actually, I'm just gonna share this whole video.

Deanna:

The, there's, there's a fiver video, uh, folder in here, and then

Deanna:

there's a bigger folder in here.

Deanna:

So

Julie:

Okay.

Deanna:

I'm just gonna share it all with you.

Deanna:

Okay.

Deanna:

It's coming at you.

Deanna:

There we go.

Deanna:

Okay.

Deanna:

Share anyway.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

Okay.

Julie:

Okay.

Deanna:

All right.

Deanna:

There we go.

Julie:

All right.

Julie:

Um, okay.

Julie:

I'm just looking, I'm looking at days.

Julie:

I love a day.

Julie:

I love a national day,

Deanna:

March 8th.

Deanna:

Oh,

Julie:

we still have

Deanna:

It was like March 8th is my birthday.

Deanna:

We're in February.

Deanna:

in February.

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Wait, we have February 27th.

Julie:

Isn't that anything cool?

Julie:

February 28th is national sleeping.

Julie:

how do you feel about a nap

Deanna:

Oh, let me just tell you, I am an expert napper.

Deanna:

I can sleep anywhere, Deanna, if I took these headphones off right

Deanna:

now and I was like, could you just be quiet for like five minutes?

Deanna:

I could put my head down and take a nap.

Deanna:

I can nap anywhere.

Deanna:

But there's a lot of studies around naps and how long they should be and

Julie:

I was just thinking, I feel like you're always like study show and

Julie:

I'm like, I just heard the other day.

Julie:

I think it's.

Julie:

26 minutes is the perfect nap

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

Give me the analytical data.

Deanna:

I love analytical data.

Deanna:

Um, so, so we can do something about the studies about, because Yeah.

Deanna:

26 minutes, anything over a certain amount of time as actually.

Deanna:

It fucks up your sleep cycle, it puts you into REM and you shouldn't be in rem

Deanna:

and then you, you know, your serotonin levels and your melatonin and all

Deanna:

that shit gets all screwed up for you.

Deanna:

So,

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

I like that

Deanna:

so there is a lot to do with napping.

Julie:

You're like, and I'm ready for one right now.

Deanna:

You just say nap and my brain immediately starts going there.

Julie:

all right.

Julie:

Well, we have, we have planned everything except for one post, one reel,

Deanna:

Alright.

Deanna:

Wait, can we go over the newsletter?

Deanna:

Is the 1st of February is what?

Deanna:

Newsletter?

Julie:

Oh wait, we didn't do the last email.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

That's

Julie:

more email, one more reel also, but also I can just go in the book for a reel.

Julie:

Like I can pull out a reel.

Julie:

Easy outta your book, but, um, okay, so here's what we have.

Julie:

Uh, the first is about mistakes.

Julie:

The eighth is about goal setting with the TED Talk announcement perhaps.

Julie:

And then the 15th is, Talking about, um, maintaining relationships all year,

Julie:

like Valentine's Day, don't do that.

Julie:

Maybe a discount for coaching and then the

Deanna:

we start with the discounted candy so that the

Deanna:

discounted one-to-one at the end is

Julie:

sense.

Julie:

Like a little

Deanna:

Makes sense?

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

Be like, it's my favorite day of the year.

Deanna:

75% off Valentine's Day candy, by the way.

Deanna:

And then do CO somehow segue into coaching and then segue back into one-on-ones?

Deanna:

Or maybe we do coaching and at the end we'll be like, oh, and by the way, you

Deanna:

can get 75% on that CVS candy today,

Julie:

Yes.

Julie:

Well, okay, so wait, but the email's about maintaining

Julie:

relationships all year and networking

Deanna:

it's about Valentine's.

Deanna:

Oh,

Julie:

but then also it makes sense, like also I like it because your

Julie:

last, your email before that's gonna be about coaching and so this sort

Julie:

of like dovetails into that and you talk about maintaining your network

Julie:

and then talking about one-on-one with you to have a plan going in.

Julie:

I

Deanna:

Yep.

Deanna:

Got it.

Deanna:

All right.

Deanna:

So then we still have, wait a minute,

Julie:

The 22nd.

Deanna:

22nd.

Julie:

I'm sorry.

Julie:

Yeah.

Julie:

23rd.

Julie:

Was it 22nd or

Deanna:

22nd.

Deanna:

Mm-hmm.

Julie:

Yeah, yeah.

Deanna:

22nd.

Deanna:

Okay.

Julie:

Is it.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

February 22nd is a Wednesday.

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

Okay.

Deanna:

Um, I, uh, did you watch the Hugh Hefner documentary docu-series on Netflix?

Deanna:

Okay.

Deanna:

So there was a Hugh Hefner docu-series on, on Netflix, and it was fucking fascinating

Deanna:

and I learned a lot of things and.

Deanna:

One of the things I learned was that Playboy was actually named

Deanna:

after a defunct car company.

Deanna:

So there was a car company called Playboy.

Deanna:

So what it was, it was called, it was called something else

Deanna:

beforehand when he was in college.

Deanna:

It was frat or something.

Deanna:

It was called, something like that.

Deanna:

And then he had a cease desist letter from another new newsletter

Deanna:

magazine with this similar name.

Deanna:

And so Playboy was a defunct car company.

Deanna:

And so that's how they came up with Playboy.

Deanna:

But anyways, you.

Deanna:

Everybody goes, oh, I read it for the articles.

Deanna:

But I mean, there's titties all over the cover, but feel like I read it

Deanna:

for the articles, but the whole thing was like, about how like these amazing

Deanna:

people that came on and, and wrote articles like Martin Luther King Jr.

Deanna:

And Jack Kirouac and like ama, like a just list of people who just wrote

Deanna:

amazing articles and, and like how on the forefront they were of a lot of things.

Deanna:

and I don't know, I don't know where I'm going with this, but it

Deanna:

was fascinating towards the end.

Deanna:

I mean, the guy was just ridiculous.

Deanna:

Like towards the end, like every one of his wives was the love of his

Deanna:

life and he was marrying women who were like 60 years younger than him.

Deanna:

Um, but the beginning was like, I mean, he was a terrible father

Deanna:

and he wasn't a father to his kids with his first wife, but I.

Deanna:

I just found it fascinating.

Deanna:

I had no idea that, because like you'd always heard, oh, I read it for the

Deanna:

articles, and you don't realize like, oh, the, the articles were actually

Deanna:

probably the best writing that was, that there was to have at that time.

Deanna:

So maybe there's like a list did like, uh, did you know that all of

Deanna:

these, I don't remember where I'm going with this, but like all of

Deanna:

these amazing people like John F.

Deanna:

Kennedy, um, or No, it was Robert Kennedy I think wrote an article.

Deanna:

Like all these people wrote amazing articles in this magazine

Deanna:

with titties all over the front.

Deanna:

And maybe there's something there about, you can be more than one thing.

Deanna:

You can be a titty magazine and you can be a home for amazing

Deanna:

editorial content or amazing ideas.

Deanna:

Like you, you both can be true

Julie:

Mm-hmm.

Deanna:

you know?

Deanna:

So I don't know because.

Deanna:

There's something there about, I mean, and we talk about this all the

Deanna:

time, like just being who you are.

Deanna:

Like, you know what, I love people and I, and, and I love business and

Deanna:

I love how you know, all that stuff, but I'm always gonna swear at you.

Deanna:

Always.

Deanna:

Just, just, did I tell you about this Harvard Business

Deanna:

Review article I wrote recent?

Deanna:

I read re I wrote it, , I read it recently, maybe one day.

Deanna:

, um, uh, that.

Deanna:

I'm going to have to find a few, but I was reading it on a plane and it said that the

Deanna:

most useful, the most useful, um, reviews of products and or services online.

Deanna:

So Amazon, Yelp, whatever.

Deanna:

The most highly rated as useful reviews are ones that have swears in them.

Deanna:

For example, on Amazon, you buy a pair of glasses.

Deanna:

I don't need you buy a pair of cheaters.

Deanna:

I don't.

Deanna:

The review that says these, I can see everything in these

Deanna:

glasses and they fit perfectly.

Deanna:

Doesn't get a helpful review.

Deanna:

The review that says, I can see fucking everything in these glasses

Deanna:

and they fit like a fucking charm.

Deanna:

That gets a useful cuz

Julie:

like, oh.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

And so this art, this study showed that like three is the magic number.

Deanna:

You can't go over three swears in a review.

Deanna:

If you go over three swears, people are like, eh, this person, like whatever,

Deanna:

like the three swears in under, always gets ranked higher as a useful review.

Deanna:

And the more reviews you have with curse words in them, the more

Deanna:

people believe in your product.

Julie:

Wow.

Deanna:

there's something there.

Julie:

Yes.

Julie:

Yeah.

Julie:

Here's me, I'm like, did women write articles?

Julie:

Did any women write articles or is just women's titties and

Julie:

men get to write the articles?

Julie:

Cuz

Deanna:

Well, you gotta think about the times that we're talking about.

Deanna:

So these are like the 60, like, I don't know.

Deanna:

I'm gonna get a list.

Deanna:

I'm gonna get you a list of the, the article there.

Deanna:

I'm gonna say we're 99% penises, 1% vagina.

Deanna:

Like I am just gonna say that.

Deanna:

Okay?

Julie:

I, I

Deanna:

but let's just say.

Deanna:

Hugh Hefner articles.

Julie:

one lady did get to write an article, like, who was that lady?

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

Who, who is that lady?

Deanna:

Who is that?

Deanna:

And did she also have to show her tits?

Deanna:

We're couple sentences.

Deanna:

Whip,

Julie:

yeah.

Deanna:

yeah.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

Price.

Deanna:

Doing business.

Julie:

yeah, yeah.

Julie:

Oh my gosh.

Deanna:

I just gave it to for free to the guy on the

Julie:

That's what I was, I was like, wait, this,

Deanna:

and I was like, now lemme write an article for you,

Julie:

brings it right back to the

Deanna:

That's right.

Deanna:

We started with titties on the first.

Deanna:

We're gonna end with titties on the 22nd.

Julie:

how you, that's how you make good

Deanna:

Yes, cuz you know what they say about titties.

Deanna:

One is not enough, three is too many.

Deanna:

Two's just.

Deanna:

I think that's a joke about martinis actually.

Deanna:

Why are martinis like tits?

Deanna:

One's not enough, three is too much, and two is just right

Julie:

Oh my gosh.

Julie:

Three is too many curse words in a review too.

Deanna:

and three is too many curse words.

Deanna:

In a review over three.

Deanna:

Yeah, I did say over three.

Julie:

All right.

Julie:

You can have.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

I sure shit did.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Julie:

All right.

Julie:

Well, that's it.

Julie:

We got 'em all.

Deanna:

Wow.

Julie:

you have something special for the 28th or if you want me

Julie:

to look in the book, I can do

Deanna:

Uh, the 28th.

Julie:

I in two clips from a talk for the month.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

Well, let's see what the, the 28th is as far as a national day.

Deanna:

Uh,

Julie:

Oh, I think, well, I was, oh wait.

Deanna:

no.

Deanna:

No, not, no.

Deanna:

Oh, it's World Spay Day.

Deanna:

Spay your dogs and do dogs and cats, but,

Julie:

You're, um, Bob Barker,

Deanna:

I know, oh my God.

Deanna:

I, I listened to like a true crime documentary called like the contestant

Deanna:

who knew too much about the prices.

Deanna:

Right?

Deanna:

About some guy who, all he did was watch the prices, right?

Deanna:

And make spreadsheets about how much everything costs so that he could go there

Deanna:

and tell people how much everything costs.

Deanna:

Like, and one guy won like the, what is it called?

Deanna:

Like the Grand Showcase or whatever.

Deanna:

He won like it twice in one episode cuz he listened to the guy cuz the guy.

Deanna:

Memorized everything.

Deanna:

It was like, yeah.

Deanna:

The con contestant who knew too much.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

But he, yeah.

Deanna:

Bob Barkett was always like, spray and neuter your animals,

Julie:

The showcase showdown.

Deanna:

Showcase showdown.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Julie:

Oh my gosh.

Julie:

Okay, cool.

Julie:

Well, we got it.

Deanna:

Wow.

Deanna:

And we

Julie:

And then I was

Deanna:

than an hour.

Julie:

about the, um, the, um, January we got that, we got the,

Julie:

um, I'm just gonna go through, you sent, you shared that folder with me.

Julie:

Sorry, I'm not making a complete sentence.

Julie:

I'm thinking

Deanna:

Can you, there's a lot in there.

Deanna:

There's like, there's an older keynote in there.

Deanna:

You can go through there if you want.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

Um,

Julie:

Fun.

Deanna:

yeah, just make 'em fun and punchy, you know,

Deanna:

just make 'em fun and punchy.

Deanna:

And what is today?

Deanna:

The fourth?

Deanna:

I'm not releasing a reel today.

Deanna:

I'm releasing one tomorrow, right?

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

Okay, perfect.

Julie:

Yay.

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

All right.

Julie:

under an hour.

Julie:

Nailed it.

Deanna:

right.

Deanna:

Oh, you know what I also wrote down some things for, for next time.

Deanna:

I don't know why yesterday I was listening to classical music all day yesterday cuz

Deanna:

that's what I listened to when I'm trying to like do creative stuff and I just

Deanna:

kept saying over and over in my head, I'm in a rock out with my B out Loved it.

Julie:

I do, I do.

Julie:

Let me, I write this down.

Deanna:

rock out with my buck out

Julie:

Oh my gosh,

Deanna:

Yeah,

Julie:

I love it when dumb stuff sticks in my head and I'm like, I'm hilarious.

Julie:

And it gets in my head,

Deanna:

you know, and it was to, speaking of dumb stuff, something happened like

Deanna:

this was a little bo, I don't know if I told you this, this is a little while ago.

Deanna:

I was with Chris somewhere and like I like jumped up on the couch

Deanna:

and I went, the floor is lava.

Deanna:

And he didn't know what I was talking about because he's an only child.

Julie:

what.

Deanna:

what?

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

He goes, what?

Deanna:

I go get up, get up the floor is lava.

Deanna:

And he was, I don't know what you're talking about.

Deanna:

And I was like, oh my God, you're an only child.

Deanna:

You never played the Flores lava.

Julie:

Yeah.

Julie:

What I mean?

Julie:

Yeah.

Julie:

I'm like, what is that?

Julie:

Cuz of siblings?

Julie:

I can't

Deanna:

Yeah.

Deanna:

So there might be something here for March.

Deanna:

My my birthday is a Wednesday, which, uh, also International Women's Day.

Deanna:

But, um, there's enough shit about International Women's Day

Deanna:

and International Women's Day.

Deanna:

Like we could do something about like, Siblings in birth order and

Julie:

order is so cool.

Deanna:

yeah.

Deanna:

Um, and because I'm a middle child, like I really do think middle children

Deanna:

get the short end of the stick.

Deanna:

But anyways, I'm, I'm already going into March and we don't need to do that now.

Deanna:

But anyways, I was like, he doesn't know what the lava means.

Julie:

That's crazy.

Julie:

My kid, my Jack's three.

Julie:

He knows what the floors

Deanna:

Yeah.

Julie:

He knows what to do if he's not baring in the kitchen.

Julie:

So,

Deanna:

I, I was playing that once with my sister, um, the Flores Lava, and I

Deanna:

was jumping like from chair to couch and I jumped over a table and I didn't

Deanna:

jump over the table and there was a lamp on it and I smashed it to smithereens.

Deanna:

And then I had to come up with a story about how the lamp fell.

Julie:

Yeah.

Deanna:

mom

Julie:

like now

Deanna:

it too.

Deanna:

Good thing she doesn't.

Deanna:

Oh, she does read my newsletter.

Deanna:

She's gonna be like you.

Deanna:

Oh, that was when you were playing the Flores Lava.

Deanna:

Great

Julie:

You

Deanna:

All right, love.

Julie:

was fun.

Julie:

Okay,

Deanna:

right, I'll talk to you later.

Julie:

next, maam.

Julie:

Okay, bye.

Julie:

So that's how we do it.

Julie:

Now.

Julie:

Things change throughout the month.

Julie:

Not everything we talk about makes it into a piece of content and

Julie:

also new things pop up that need to be shoehorned into the month.

Julie:

Deanna.

Julie:

And I talked a lot about the possibility of my Ted talk, being

Julie:

a large part of the content.

Julie:

But two days after we met, I found out that although my

Julie:

application was extremely strong,

Julie:

I live in a different state than the Ted was being produced in.

Julie:

So I was not selected to give a talk.

Julie:

So.

Julie:

For the days when we were supposed to use Ted as a content piece, we

Julie:

would need to think of something else.

Julie:

Which isn't difficult if you look at your life and the things that happen

Julie:

every day, and then ask yourself, how does this translate into business?

Julie:

What is the lesson here?

Julie:

Can I turn any of this into content?

Julie:

Which is what I usually do.

Julie:

So.

Julie:

Dina.

Julie:

And I text almost every day.

Julie:

Sometimes it's just me sending her a voice note saying, I think this is something we

Julie:

should talk about, or this just happened.

Julie:

Can we make a post out of this?

Julie:

So there's no boring stories.

Julie:

Only boring deliveries.

Julie:

The content is all around you.

Julie:

You just have to be willing to talk about it.

Julie:

For example.

Julie:

The day after I learned that I didn't make it to that particular Ted stage.

Julie:

I needed to go dress shopping for a black tie event that I will be

Julie:

attending in a couple of weeks.

Julie:

So.

Julie:

I ended up buying two dresses for that event, because I couldn't make up my

Julie:

mind, but neither of these dresses are ones in which you can wear a bra.

Julie:

So when that began my first experience.

Julie:

With boob tape.

Julie:

And while I was trying to learn how to use tape as a bra, I kept

Julie:

thinking to myself, this is awkward.

Julie:

And because I love networking my brain and went here.

Julie:

Well, some people think networking is offered.

Julie:

Maybe they haven't tried boob tape.

Julie:

And there you have it, the content to replace the Ted content.

Julie:

Sometimes the shit just writes itself.

Julie:

Okay.

Julie:

Because this was a long one.

Julie:

Let's wrap it up, like my titties and that fucking tape.

Julie:

And onto the drink of the week, which is appropriately named.

Julie:

Boob grabber.

Julie:

Here's what your.

Julie:

I don't know why here's what you're going to need.

Julie:

A half an ounce of Bailey's Irish cream, three, four sounds of Johnny Walker red.

Julie:

And, uh, all you're going to do is pour the Bailey's ice cream into

Julie:

a shot glass and tough pit with a scotch, and then shoot it down.

Julie:

Not exactly sure why this is called the boot grabber, but here you go.

Julie:

All right, friends.

Julie:

That's all for this week.
