Empowering women by teaching them - online and in-person - how to enhance their beautiful features and achieve a flawless makeup application. Beverly lives in the UK and is the proud mum of 2 beautiful girls. This is part 2 of our Self-Confidence mini-series:

BUSINESS BUILDING INSIGHTS

  • Surround yourself with people who inspire you to keep going.
  • Sometimes you have to make yourself uncomfortable to grow. Stay focused and go for it! It's worth it in the end.
  • If you’re uncomfortable being visible online, explore, look for opportunities, take small actions that will get you out there.
  • Make connections with people outside your inner circle. Get involved in conversations in Facebook groups that you join (not necessarily related to your business). Let people know what you do and how you do it so you can become known for what you do
  • Find alternative ways to reach your people - move your business online, do online courses, etc.

Self-Confidence Tips:

  • Do Lives on social media so people can get to know you and you get more comfortable with video.
  • Little steps lead to big things. For example, if doing videos feels uncomfortable, ease into it by doing short video clips until you feel more confident. <-- Hot tip!
  • Get out of your head and focus on who you are helping, rather than on yourself.
  • Don't compare yourself to others. Be yourself and own that.
  • Once you have built an audience, you can offer paid classes via Zoom (or similar).
  • Even if attendance for your first online course is small, you can repeat the same content over and over as your audience grows.

Pro Makeup Application Tips:

  • Start With Skin Care:
    • Skin is the most important step to achieve a flawless face. Your skin needs to be smooth and plumped before you apply makeup.
    • Gently massage your facial moisturizer into your skin to get it ready for makeup. Massage will trigger a collagen boost in your skin and improve the appearance.  <-- Tune in for the full conversation on how to do this and why!
    • Your undereye is the most delicate skin on your face. Touch that area as little and as gently as possible.
    • Know your skin type. Whatever your type, there's a good moisturizer out there for you.
    • If you have oily skin, get an oil-free or oil-control moisturizer. For dry skin, look for rich moisturizers that hydrate your skin.
    • Use a primer to stop foundation from breaking on your skin. For dry skin, choose a glowy primer.
  • Tips for Great Foundation:
    • The most important thing for foundation is to get the right shade.
    • Look for a perfect color that matches the skin of your neck (not your face) as closely as possible. <-- Pro tip! Tune in for all the details.
    • A little bit of foundation goes a long way. For a flawless natural look, just start with a little and work up from there.
    • Start in the middle of your face and work your way outward.
    • Target problematic areas and use less makeup on the areas that don't need it.
    • Use concealer AFTER foundation or you will probably use too much. Get your foundation right FIRST, then go in with concealer where needed. <-- Pro tip!
  • Contour & Highlight Tips:
    • Don't be afraid of contouring and highlighting. You just need to learn how to do it.
    • Start with powder products (instead of cream) when you first begin - bronzer and highlighter.
    • Choose a bronzer 1 shade darker than your skin. If you want it more pronounced, go 2 shades darker - never more than that. <-- Pro tip!
    • Bronzer warms the face and adds structure. Create a number 3 on your face: Start at your forehead near the hairline in a circular motion, then your cheek bone, then the jawline.
    • User highlighter on top of your cheekbone. Use your finger or a brush to tap it on and blend it out. Highlighter gives your whole face a lift.
  • Listen to the full conversation for LOTS more tips (including brows, eyes + tips for mature women) for a flawless face!

Speaker:

Hi there.

Speaker:

How are you doing?

Speaker:

And today we've just come out of a full week of

Speaker:

focusing all on unloved.

Speaker:

Valentine's day being yesterday,

Speaker:

the cards,

Speaker:

flowers, candy hugs,

Speaker:

all the special ways we show love to each other.

Speaker:

And I want to keep that going.

Speaker:

Why shouldn't we?

Speaker:

I have two episodes coming up,

Speaker:

focusing on self-love because I know you'll agree with me.

Speaker:

We give love to others far more than we do to

Speaker:

ourselves. And if we aren't feeling our best self valued and

Speaker:

loved, we aren't showing up that way in the world either

Speaker:

today is going to be fun.

Speaker:

I have Beverly here to talk with us about makeup.

Speaker:

Yep. You heard me,

Speaker:

right? Maybe you're saying SU this is a podcast about business

Speaker:

development, not a beauty and you're right,

Speaker:

but let's all be honest here just between us girls.

Speaker:

We care about how we show up and how we look.

Speaker:

Are you not going live on Facebook?

Speaker:

Because you're worried about how you look.

Speaker:

Do you spend extra time getting ready in the morning?

Speaker:

On the days when you know,

Speaker:

you have a zoom call or you're going to be out

Speaker:

in public versus when you were at home alone,

Speaker:

are you observing fashion trends to make sure you're in style?

Speaker:

Of course you do.

Speaker:

So do I point made because no matter what we say,

Speaker:

how we feel about how we look matters.

Speaker:

So right now you're going to be treated to a professional

Speaker:

makeup discussion and demonstration plus,

Speaker:

and I can't even believe I did this.

Speaker:

Beverly got me to share my morning makeup routine.

Speaker:

How could I say no,

Speaker:

we were recording.

Speaker:

I bet you'll learn some things about your routine that can

Speaker:

use improving.

Speaker:

Just like I did all towards the goal.

Speaker:

Not to be more beautiful for others,

Speaker:

but to feel our beauty from the inside.

Speaker:

So we can show up as our amazing best selves today,

Speaker:

we are doing something very special and a little bit different.

Speaker:

I can't wait to introduce you to Beverly Ella Chuco of

Speaker:

makeup by Beverly Beverly is a professional makeup artist,

Speaker:

beauty expert,

Speaker:

and educator specializing in beauty and bridal makeup to her makeup

Speaker:

is not only art,

Speaker:

but also a way to express yourself creatively.

Speaker:

Be it to show off your personality or otherwise.

Speaker:

She operates her business from a place of love and passion,

Speaker:

empowering women by teaching them both online.

Speaker:

And in-person how to enhance their beautiful features and how to

Speaker:

achieve a flawless makeup application and heads up.

Speaker:

We have some tips coming for you.

Speaker:

Beverly lives in the UK and is the proud mom of

Speaker:

two beautiful girls.

Speaker:

And did you know what I had to say at her

Speaker:

way? Proud mom.

Speaker:

I just love that.

Speaker:

Beverly, welcome to the gift biz unwrapped podcast.

Speaker:

Oh, hi Sue.

Speaker:

Thanks for having me.

Speaker:

I am so excited and I just have to say really

Speaker:

quickly right here.

Speaker:

Beverly and I met through clubhouse and I know we've been

Speaker:

bringing this up a little bit.

Speaker:

I've been bringing it up Beverly in my Facebook group gift

Speaker:

biz breeze.

Speaker:

And we also did a podcast on it a couple of

Speaker:

weeks ago,

Speaker:

but here's a perfect example.

Speaker:

How would you and I have ever connected if it wasn't

Speaker:

for clubhouse?

Speaker:

I don't think we ever would have.

Speaker:

I know,

Speaker:

right? We wouldn't have,

Speaker:

honestly, it's a great place to connect.

Speaker:

Absolutely. So before we dive in any further,

Speaker:

I want to have you do something for us.

Speaker:

Beverly that's become a tradition here on the show and that

Speaker:

is to describe yourself by way of a motivational candle.

Speaker:

So if you were to just close your eyes and imagine

Speaker:

a candle that looks everything you,

Speaker:

what would it be?

Speaker:

Ooh. Okay.

Speaker:

So I actually thought about this.

Speaker:

My favorite candle of your sleep is a Yankee cupcake,

Speaker:

a vanilla cupcake candle.

Speaker:

So I love the first of all,

Speaker:

obviously is the color,

Speaker:

which is more of a creamy cream color,

Speaker:

but also it's the scent it's that hint of Memona needs

Speaker:

that gives you that zesty feeling and they bought your eyes,

Speaker:

which is quite uplifting.

Speaker:

So yes,

Speaker:

that would be in terms of the condo itself and the

Speaker:

color, but then what quotes will I have on that?

Speaker:

I would have to go with one of my favorite quotes

Speaker:

from Steve jobs.

Speaker:

And I'm going with these because he resonates with me.

Speaker:

And that quote says your work is going to feel a

Speaker:

large part of your life.

Speaker:

And the only way to be truly satisfied is to do

Speaker:

what you believe is great work.

Speaker:

And the only way to do great work is to love

Speaker:

what you do.

Speaker:

If you haven't found it,

Speaker:

keep looking,

Speaker:

don't settle as with all matters of heart.

Speaker:

You will know when you find it.

Speaker:

Honestly, this is just powerful and it literally moves me every

Speaker:

time I'm here.

Speaker:

So yeah,

Speaker:

that would be the codes I'll have on my calendar.

Speaker:

Oh my gosh.

Speaker:

I have chills over here.

Speaker:

So that's not nice cause it's cold here in Chicago.

Speaker:

No, but it's so true.

Speaker:

I love that.

Speaker:

And I love Steve jobs quotes anyway,

Speaker:

and they're all the more special now that they're limited since

Speaker:

we can't get anymore.

Speaker:

I know.

Speaker:

I think specifically for people who are listening to Beverly is

Speaker:

that there are so many people out there who make something

Speaker:

and they love doing it and they keep thinking about maybe

Speaker:

monetizing it and they're hesitant to do so.

Speaker:

And they're at a nine to five that they need to

Speaker:

do for money and maybe they even like it,

Speaker:

but there's just something else,

Speaker:

some other inner desire that they have that they want to

Speaker:

act on.

Speaker:

And that's what kept coming up to me.

Speaker:

As you were reading that,

Speaker:

Yes, I,

Speaker:

you know what,

Speaker:

I'm actually in that space as well that you just described,

Speaker:

it's all about doing the nine to five.

Speaker:

You just have to keep the family going,

Speaker:

don't you,

Speaker:

but there's something in there that's,

Speaker:

you know,

Speaker:

this is your calling.

Speaker:

This is what you're meant to be doing,

Speaker:

but opportunities around you may not give you the chance to

Speaker:

do it just yet,

Speaker:

but don't give up,

Speaker:

just keep going until you're able to achieve that Or get

Speaker:

started in a little way.

Speaker:

Maybe it's even just research or seeing what you would do,

Speaker:

like even developing the plan so that when the time does

Speaker:

become available,

Speaker:

here's the first steps that I would do.

Speaker:

So you're kind of starting to work,

Speaker:

but you're not really going all in yet.

Speaker:

That's so true.

Speaker:

Lots of different ways.

Speaker:

I mean,

Speaker:

I was just on speaking of clubhouse,

Speaker:

I actually was hosting a room and the conversation led to

Speaker:

this wasn't the room that you were in with me.

Speaker:

I don't think.

Speaker:

But the conversation led to,

Speaker:

should you just jump in two feet,

Speaker:

cold water,

Speaker:

quit your job and just dive right in.

Speaker:

Or should you ramp it up gradually?

Speaker:

And there were several of us who had different views on

Speaker:

that. And so we did some conversation back and forth of

Speaker:

the pros and cons.

Speaker:

And I don't think there's one right way.

Speaker:

I think it spaced on your personality,

Speaker:

your situation,

Speaker:

what your comfort level is like.

Speaker:

There's so many things.

Speaker:

So there isn't one way or another.

Speaker:

The point is if you have that in you,

Speaker:

that you should,

Speaker:

at some point or start working large or small and start

Speaker:

bringing it out.

Speaker:

Exactly. I think another thing as well is just surrounding yourself

Speaker:

with people that would motivate you,

Speaker:

that will inspire you to keep going.

Speaker:

Because there are people around us who they are probably working

Speaker:

towards. They want,

Speaker:

and they haven't gotten there yet.

Speaker:

There things that we could learn from them,

Speaker:

tips of how,

Speaker:

okay, how did you manage to take this little steps and

Speaker:

what has it led to?

Speaker:

So those people would encourage us.

Speaker:

They would uplift us.

Speaker:

They wants to see us win.

Speaker:

So I would definitely encourage surrounding yourself with people that would

Speaker:

encourage you to achieve those goals.

Speaker:

If you really have it in you to do Yes.

Speaker:

I love that.

Speaker:

We're so affected by those that we surround ourself with.

Speaker:

For sure.

Speaker:

Yeah. Well,

Speaker:

speaking of that,

Speaker:

let's talk about how you got started.

Speaker:

What led you on this path to where you are?

Speaker:

I guess my love for makeup is all starts with makeup.

Speaker:

Doesn't it?

Speaker:

Cause that's where my love is.

Speaker:

And it's started from an early age,

Speaker:

to be honest,

Speaker:

when I would watch my mom,

Speaker:

by the way,

Speaker:

my mom is such a beautiful woman as an inside out.

Speaker:

So she would wear her makeup.

Speaker:

She wears it very subtle.

Speaker:

You can see that she has something on,

Speaker:

but not overly done.

Speaker:

And that is where my love for flawless,

Speaker:

like natural makeup developed.

Speaker:

And I remember always thinking into that room to grab some

Speaker:

makeup and then to put on.

Speaker:

And one day she actually caught me in action and she

Speaker:

said, what are you doing now?

Speaker:

So this is an African home background.

Speaker:

So with you don't touch your parents' stuff.

Speaker:

And then,

Speaker:

so she was like,

Speaker:

what are you doing in my room?

Speaker:

And I went,

Speaker:

Oh, I'm so sorry.

Speaker:

I just wanted to put some makeup on.

Speaker:

She was shift fled.

Speaker:

She wasn't having it with me because her baby's growing up.

Speaker:

I know exactly why she doesn't want that.

Speaker:

She doesn't want me to draw that attention because I loved

Speaker:

the way I felt.

Speaker:

I felt applying the makeup.

Speaker:

I love the way I looked.

Speaker:

So everything has thought,

Speaker:

Oh my goodness.

Speaker:

So makeup can actually make you look prettier.

Speaker:

So yeah,

Speaker:

that was where the love started.

Speaker:

And like I said,

Speaker:

my mom inspired me,

Speaker:

but then getting into adulthood now,

Speaker:

I wasn't allowed to pursue that because that love was strong

Speaker:

then, but I wasn't allowed to pursue that because it wasn't

Speaker:

seen as a career.

Speaker:

So I had to go to university.

Speaker:

I actually studied computer science education,

Speaker:

but I hated it.

Speaker:

So only when I became a mom have my own family,

Speaker:

I thought I have this content.

Speaker:

I've always wanted to do it and I will do it.

Speaker:

Now. Nobody can tell me that you cannot pursue,

Speaker:

make a sick area.

Speaker:

That was how I started.

Speaker:

I actually dipped into Mary Kay cosmetics.

Speaker:

I don't know if you're familiar with that.

Speaker:

Yes I am.

Speaker:

And I'm sure a lot of our listeners here are,

Speaker:

or they've at least heard of it.

Speaker:

Yes. Yeah.

Speaker:

Yes. So I started that.

Speaker:

I was introduced,

Speaker:

I started a savings dependent beauty consultants with them and that

Speaker:

was fine.

Speaker:

I did it for a couple of years,

Speaker:

but I wanted more.

Speaker:

And then at a point I said to my husband,

Speaker:

I need to go to school for makeup artistry just to

Speaker:

improve on my skills and to be able to serve people

Speaker:

better because I think quality of work makes a huge difference.

Speaker:

So because with Mary Kay,

Speaker:

it's more of the selling of the makeup.

Speaker:

They don't really teach you those skills for you to become

Speaker:

a professional makeup artist,

Speaker:

Right? Because their focus is you selling their product.

Speaker:

And now you're thinking,

Speaker:

how am I going to build this around a business,

Speaker:

possibly my own makeup even.

Speaker:

Right. That's it exactly.

Speaker:

Yeah. So even though I'm doing that,

Speaker:

but I'm still looking at opportunities for me to grow in

Speaker:

my own field,

Speaker:

not just selling someone else's products because eventually a long-term goal

Speaker:

is to own mine.

Speaker:

So that was how I went into a beauty school,

Speaker:

did call some makeup artistry and that was quite good.

Speaker:

It's once a six months program that I did it wasn't

Speaker:

easy during the time because commuting,

Speaker:

I lived in a different state.

Speaker:

So commuting to where I do the cause I would usually

Speaker:

spend a weekend there.

Speaker:

And I had my little girl,

Speaker:

she was just about six months then.

Speaker:

So I had to take her with me and my husband

Speaker:

sometimes come with me.

Speaker:

So if I,

Speaker:

it was worth it in the end.

Speaker:

So that goes to show.

Speaker:

Sometimes you have to make yourself uncomfortable,

Speaker:

but as long as you are focused,

Speaker:

you know what you want go for it.

Speaker:

So I did that finished that cause was good.

Speaker:

And I managed to get some jobs with its working on

Speaker:

makeup counters,

Speaker:

but then it comes back again.

Speaker:

Doesn't need to sell in other people's products and I'm quite

Speaker:

good at it.

Speaker:

But then just as time goes on,

Speaker:

I say to myself,

Speaker:

I need to do better.

Speaker:

I need to do more towards me towards seven myself and

Speaker:

seven people who I'm called to save.

Speaker:

And yeah.

Speaker:

So freelancing now I had to pick up on that and

Speaker:

it's been going well,

Speaker:

Wonderful. I love the whole evolution.

Speaker:

And I don't think that it's bad that you saw the

Speaker:

industry from different angles,

Speaker:

like selling Mary Kay for a while and then even working

Speaker:

behind the counters.

Speaker:

Cause you're getting information about the industry that I'm sure there

Speaker:

are tips and things and just knowledge that you don't even

Speaker:

yet pull up.

Speaker:

But just at some point in time,

Speaker:

you'll be like,

Speaker:

I remember something that happened.

Speaker:

And so it'll be applicable.

Speaker:

Absolutely. So Beverly Share with us today,

Speaker:

what you're offering out to the world in terms of beauty,

Speaker:

where you're sitting right today.

Speaker:

Okay. So currently I'm seating on feel empowering women,

Speaker:

which is one of my values,

Speaker:

one of the values of my business and powering women.

Speaker:

And the best way I know to it at this moment

Speaker:

is to teach them how to.

Speaker:

So once you teach someone,

Speaker:

they are able to go ahead and do it by themselves

Speaker:

and not having to rely on someone else to do it

Speaker:

for them.

Speaker:

So having said that I run online classes and to teach

Speaker:

everyday women how to do her own makeup.

Speaker:

I am do that flawlessly.

Speaker:

And so I have step-by-step guide on how that's,

Speaker:

how my classes are positioned.

Speaker:

I love what you talk about with empowering women.

Speaker:

That is amazing because I think so many times,

Speaker:

and I actually have a niece who is very into makeup

Speaker:

artistry and she's focused on wanting to be a makeup artist

Speaker:

to the stars.

Speaker:

That's her goal.

Speaker:

So with that,

Speaker:

it's the beauty or maybe makeup that's going to fit a

Speaker:

role or those exotic,

Speaker:

like making someone to look like a lion or,

Speaker:

you know,

Speaker:

whatever it is.

Speaker:

You've niched yourself into a different area,

Speaker:

which is makeup to empower women.

Speaker:

And when you were talking earlier about when you snuck into

Speaker:

your mom's room,

Speaker:

that's so fun.

Speaker:

And when you wear makeup,

Speaker:

how you feel beautiful outside,

Speaker:

which also helps you act more confidently from the inside.

Speaker:

Exactly. And so that's what your all about.

Speaker:

That's like the niche within the industry,

Speaker:

if you will,

Speaker:

that your claiming,

Speaker:

which is fabulous,

Speaker:

this makes sense because here people will go to makeup counters

Speaker:

and there's the chairs there.

Speaker:

This is maybe even what you were doing,

Speaker:

where you sit down and someone will show you how to

Speaker:

use the product.

Speaker:

It's all still focused on selling the product.

Speaker:

Right. And then they'll put it on you and they'll,

Speaker:

and they'll give you a little,

Speaker:

some tips for application.

Speaker:

So face to face.

Speaker:

That makes sense.

Speaker:

And so you do that with people too,

Speaker:

not at a makeup counter,

Speaker:

but yourself,

Speaker:

but then talk about how you made this transition and what

Speaker:

you were doing to take it online.

Speaker:

And the reason why I want to dive into this in

Speaker:

particular is there are a lot of makers who are listening

Speaker:

here who crochet or do bead at work or whatever crafted

Speaker:

is. And there is potential for everybody to take what they

Speaker:

know in their own way,

Speaker:

with their own little tips and tricks and bring it online

Speaker:

in some type of a training like you're talking about.

Speaker:

So let's dive into that.

Speaker:

So where did you get the idea to do this?

Speaker:

So The idea actually came from,

Speaker:

I guess,

Speaker:

with COVID his and everyone really bad.

Speaker:

And yeah,

Speaker:

so I thought if I can't physically serve women who I

Speaker:

know meets this,

Speaker:

how can I,

Speaker:

so it's about exploring what other ways can I do that?

Speaker:

So obviously going online,

Speaker:

go in virtual is one of those ways that I'm able

Speaker:

to reach women.

Speaker:

And Sue is not just women in the UK women across

Speaker:

the globe.

Speaker:

So it's no win.

Speaker:

That's Vieira women out there that you can save,

Speaker:

even though they are not in the same cycle.

Speaker:

As you,

Speaker:

even though they are not in the same area,

Speaker:

as you going online,

Speaker:

reaching out to those people,

Speaker:

online, finding those ideas and ways to connect with other people

Speaker:

who you can save,

Speaker:

who will take value from whatever you're offering,

Speaker:

but connecting with them online.

Speaker:

That was,

Speaker:

what's moved me to want to take my business online.

Speaker:

And I have to tell you,

Speaker:

it has been so good.

Speaker:

And obviously there are different ways that true Instagram posts true,

Speaker:

very recently clubhouse,

Speaker:

but also just doing live connecting with like-minded people or women

Speaker:

outside my circle has helped me to push that out there

Speaker:

and also to be able to make those connections,

Speaker:

I would a hundred percent encourage anyone who can,

Speaker:

and sometimes there are setting challenges that could come with it.

Speaker:

If you're not comfortable with online virtual classes,

Speaker:

you have to show yourself some people are not comfortable bringing

Speaker:

themselves out in that way.

Speaker:

It takes a bit of practice.

Speaker:

It takes a bit of nudging,

Speaker:

but if it's there in you try,

Speaker:

just look for opportunities,

Speaker:

explore and do little things that would take you have them,

Speaker:

Okay. This is a huge obstacle with our listeners.

Speaker:

So this is going to be really helpful.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

So you developed a program.

Speaker:

So before you went live,

Speaker:

you thought about,

Speaker:

well, how am I going to do this?

Speaker:

What are the classes going to look like?

Speaker:

How am I going to conduct all of that?

Speaker:

So you knew what you were talking about when you actually

Speaker:

went live,

Speaker:

right? Yes.

Speaker:

Share with us a little bit about that structure.

Speaker:

How do you conduct your classes?

Speaker:

Do you have a certain number of people and are you

Speaker:

over zoom or how do your online classes work?

Speaker:

So my online classes,

Speaker:

I would usually advertise on Instagram and Facebook.

Speaker:

I know that tape as well as that I would give

Speaker:

to your listeners is try to make connections on Facebook with

Speaker:

groups like moms,

Speaker:

groups, or other groups that you feel that you fit into,

Speaker:

that you want to associate yourself with,

Speaker:

become a member of that group and get involved in conversations

Speaker:

with different people in the group,

Speaker:

with different posts that people make.

Speaker:

And it boosts your confidence.

Speaker:

You make connections.

Speaker:

You also then want to eventually put yourself out there by

Speaker:

telling them what you offer.

Speaker:

But then going back to your question in terms of my

Speaker:

set up for my classes is yes,

Speaker:

I do it over zoom.

Speaker:

I do get connections from,

Speaker:

like I said,

Speaker:

doing lives and then getting people to know what exactly I

Speaker:

do and how I do it.

Speaker:

I advertise through Instagram and then get people to book themselves

Speaker:

in for the class.

Speaker:

So they pay to be in,

Speaker:

and then once they've paid,

Speaker:

then they get a zoom link so that they can join

Speaker:

the class at whatever time it's structured for.

Speaker:

How big are your classes?

Speaker:

So the first class that I did was last month.

Speaker:

So I told you,

Speaker:

this is something that I'm getting into.

Speaker:

So the Crosslands that I did was last month and I

Speaker:

had 20 women join paid for the class.

Speaker:

Wow. Yeah.

Speaker:

So 14 made into the class,

Speaker:

but six couldn't.

Speaker:

But the good thing about that was yes,

Speaker:

they paid,

Speaker:

they couldn't make the class for some reason or the other,

Speaker:

but they didn't miss out much because they get replay from

Speaker:

the class.

Speaker:

They also get goodies that I offered in the class.

Speaker:

And there were a few other bonuses that I added in

Speaker:

terms of quick shots,

Speaker:

tutorials, for example,

Speaker:

how to fill in your brows or how to get that

Speaker:

really gorgeous.

Speaker:

I make up look.

Speaker:

So I included them as bonuses in the class.

Speaker:

So those people that unfortunately couldn't attend because of work.

Speaker:

They still got all those things.

Speaker:

But most importantly was the replay from the masterclass.

Speaker:

That's such a great model because first off you're overcoming an

Speaker:

objection that if people aren't able to be available at the

Speaker:

time that the class is going on,

Speaker:

they still get the information.

Speaker:

So that means they still become your students.

Speaker:

So that's perfect.

Speaker:

And it's scalable because you had 21 people for the first

Speaker:

class, you may have 221 for the next classes,

Speaker:

but it doesn't take any more of your time to do

Speaker:

Nobody. Doesn't,

Speaker:

that's the thing,

Speaker:

because I have my structure that I follow.

Speaker:

So each class is different.

Speaker:

So currently I have another class that I'm promoting,

Speaker:

which will be this coming Sunday.

Speaker:

And it's for busy moms,

Speaker:

busy moms who have probably five to 10 minutes to get

Speaker:

themselves face on in the morning.

Speaker:

And they don't have any more than that.

Speaker:

So I've structured that class to fulfill once those busy moms

Speaker:

are looking for.

Speaker:

Whereas my previous class was about achieving a flawless,

Speaker:

natural makeup look.

Speaker:

So I have to tell all my classes,

Speaker:

two different groups,

Speaker:

if that makes sense.

Speaker:

Yeah. And I think some of those subjects will resonate with

Speaker:

different people.

Speaker:

Yes. And some of them will resonate with everybody.

Speaker:

Right. That's true.

Speaker:

Yeah. So even though probably some of the techniques might be

Speaker:

a little bit the same,

Speaker:

you're approaching it with different messaging.

Speaker:

Okay. So now I want to get back to the live.

Speaker:

So now we understand a little bit more.

Speaker:

So before you went live,

Speaker:

you obviously knew what the title was,

Speaker:

what the purpose and the intent of the class was.

Speaker:

And you had your time set.

Speaker:

So you know,

Speaker:

things to talk about then obviously,

Speaker:

so then share with us a little bit about how you

Speaker:

overcame any concern,

Speaker:

uncomfort or whatever you want to tell us about live again,

Speaker:

Beverly cause I'm trying to get more and more people to

Speaker:

go live.

Speaker:

And maybe you'll say something that I haven't to those few

Speaker:

people out there who now,

Speaker:

after they hear from you,

Speaker:

they'll go live.

Speaker:

So share with us your experience and how you get yourself

Speaker:

to do that.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

So first of all,

Speaker:

I will start with limiting belief about myself Sue.

Speaker:

And when I was planning this class,

Speaker:

I was excited,

Speaker:

but I was thinking,

Speaker:

you know,

Speaker:

that little thin behind ear telling you,

Speaker:

who do you think you were,

Speaker:

that someone would pay?

Speaker:

So social amount to want to listen to you.

Speaker:

We all have it in us.

Speaker:

There's this little thing that's keeps telling you.

Speaker:

No, you can do it.

Speaker:

You can achieve this.

Speaker:

So it was there.

Speaker:

But I was pushing through.

Speaker:

I told myself,

Speaker:

even if I'm able to sell just one ticket for this

Speaker:

class, I have concurred that limiting belief.

Speaker:

So to me at that stage,

Speaker:

it wasn't even about the numbers.

Speaker:

It was about challenging myself and getting the job,

Speaker:

Don, just doing it,

Speaker:

just going live.

Speaker:

Yes. Just do it.

Speaker:

If you do it,

Speaker:

then the rest would be history.

Speaker:

And look at me,

Speaker:

my daughter was so proud of me because I have 18

Speaker:

it's in girl.

Speaker:

And she was encouraging me.

Speaker:

If my husband the same,

Speaker:

she said to me,

Speaker:

mommy, you can do this.

Speaker:

Mommy, you can do this.

Speaker:

And the day I made a post on Instagram about this,

Speaker:

I switched my phone off.

Speaker:

Do you know why?

Speaker:

Because I don't want to open my phone and no one

Speaker:

has liked that picture or even many comments.

Speaker:

So when I switched my phone back on in the morning,

Speaker:

Oh my goodness.

Speaker:

To the love I received,

Speaker:

people were reposting.

Speaker:

My masterclass,

Speaker:

people were commenting.

Speaker:

And I said to myself,

Speaker:

you did it.

Speaker:

Even if you don't make any cell,

Speaker:

even if it's just one ticket,

Speaker:

you did it.

Speaker:

It's a big win for me.

Speaker:

So yes,

Speaker:

the number of people that bought wasn't what I expected.

Speaker:

It would be to be honest,

Speaker:

pod, every win is a win.

Speaker:

Yeah. And it was your first one.

Speaker:

And this is repeatable.

Speaker:

You can run the same class that you did with 21

Speaker:

students again.

Speaker:

And as your reputation builds,

Speaker:

as other people take other classes,

Speaker:

it's only going to continue to grow.

Speaker:

Exactly. Yeah.

Speaker:

Oh my gosh.

Speaker:

All of this is just so,

Speaker:

so great.

Speaker:

Not a fan as well,

Speaker:

which I would say is a limiting belief.

Speaker:

And I know that some women go through this is going

Speaker:

on video too.

Speaker:

I don't like go in on video.

Speaker:

You mean recorded video that then you can place anywhere you

Speaker:

want. That's what you mean by video,

Speaker:

right? Yes.

Speaker:

Not live,

Speaker:

but behind the scenes recorded that you can upload places.

Speaker:

Is that what you mean?

Speaker:

Both. Okay.

Speaker:

As long as I'm in that clip and I'm talking,

Speaker:

I don't it,

Speaker:

but I also had to overcome it.

Speaker:

And how I did that was by gently getting myself into

Speaker:

it. I will be in my little room here.

Speaker:

I will make some videos.

Speaker:

I will watch them.

Speaker:

I would say late or watch Unsullied optimally point.

Speaker:

I said to myself,

Speaker:

no, you can continue to do this.

Speaker:

So I started recording.

Speaker:

And if you look through my Instagram,

Speaker:

I'm happy to take pictures of some posts.

Speaker:

That's fine.

Speaker:

But videos is just not my thing only recently.

Speaker:

And it was when I was planning the master class that

Speaker:

I decided I'm going to go for this.

Speaker:

I'm going to start making little clips of videos.

Speaker:

So that was the first video I made each.

Speaker:

I think it's somewhere in December.

Speaker:

If you look through my Instagram post,

Speaker:

I just pulled up my phone right now.

Speaker:

I'm going to go home.

Speaker:

So your Instagram feed is gorgeous by the way,

Speaker:

I've looked at it already before this.

Speaker:

But did you see a difference with the engagement when you

Speaker:

had video versus just the post A hundred percent and some

Speaker:

of my clients,

Speaker:

they said,

Speaker:

Oh, we would love seeing these types of videos.

Speaker:

And it made me feel really good.

Speaker:

I think sometimes it's just in my head.

Speaker:

So when I was able to get out of my head

Speaker:

to think of the people that I'm saving,

Speaker:

that made a huge difference.

Speaker:

It's no longer about me.

Speaker:

Yes. I might be the person in the video,

Speaker:

but it's not about who I am saving.

Speaker:

And those are the people that you want to reach.

Speaker:

Those are the people that you want to impress.

Speaker:

But once he pied land is to be my self.

Speaker:

Yes. Not comparing myself to anybody else.

Speaker:

Couldn't agree.

Speaker:

I agree with you more and Oh my gosh.

Speaker:

Like Beverly,

Speaker:

you're rocking it here cause you're also doing real.

Speaker:

Yeah. You're doing static posts.

Speaker:

Yes. We're doing carousel posts.

Speaker:

You're doing TV,

Speaker:

I guess.

Speaker:

Live okay.

Speaker:

Reels. Yeah.

Speaker:

You went from,

Speaker:

Oh my gosh.

Speaker:

I'm concerned to like fireworks and his little stamps.

Speaker:

I tell you two years ago,

Speaker:

last year you wouldn't get me doing all this.

Speaker:

No, I can't.

Speaker:

I feel very awkward doing it,

Speaker:

but now I'm like,

Speaker:

yes, let's do it.

Speaker:

Why not?

Speaker:

Gosh. We've opened the Gates on you.

Speaker:

That is for Sure.

Speaker:

So You guys,

Speaker:

her Instagram,

Speaker:

you know,

Speaker:

all the links and everything are in the show notes,

Speaker:

but we,

Speaker:

if you want to pull up your phone while you're listening

Speaker:

to this or jump over to Instagram,

Speaker:

it's makeup by dot Beverly.

Speaker:

Okay. So that's the handle Like,

Speaker:

okay, I'm done talking with you.

Speaker:

I'm going to go look at it.

Speaker:

I think this will be a good place for us to

Speaker:

transition because gift biz listeners,

Speaker:

I have a really big surprise for you.

Speaker:

I asked Beverly if she would do a little bit of

Speaker:

just audio make-up coaching And she agreed.

Speaker:

So we Are going to talk through and Beverly,

Speaker:

I think you probably have a way you want to approach

Speaker:

this, but she is going to share with us some tips

Speaker:

and tricks that we can use.

Speaker:

You just heard her talking about live and how great it

Speaker:

has become for her.

Speaker:

Maybe we all just need a little bit more confidence in

Speaker:

our appearance,

Speaker:

which will help us perform better and do lives,

Speaker:

which can be so game-changing for our businesses.

Speaker:

We're going to pause here really quickly to hear from our

Speaker:

sponsor. And then after that I'm opening the door for you.

Speaker:

Please come on in to our virtual makeup counter,

Speaker:

sit right down and get ready for your own individual.

Speaker:

With all of us here,

Speaker:

doing this together.

Speaker:

Make-up application session from Beverly.

Speaker:

Yes, it's possible.

Speaker:

Increase your sales without adding a single customer.

Speaker:

How you ask by offering personalization with your products,

Speaker:

wrap a cake box with a ribbon saying happy 30th birthday,

Speaker:

Annie, or at a special message and date to wedding or

Speaker:

party favors for an extra meaningful touch.

Speaker:

Where else can you get customization with a creatively spelled name

Speaker:

or find packaging?

Speaker:

That includes a saying whose meaning is known to a select

Speaker:

to not only our customers willing to pay for these special

Speaker:

touches. They'll tell their friends and word will spread about your

Speaker:

company and products.

Speaker:

You can create personalized ribbons and labels in seconds,

Speaker:

make just one or thousands without waiting weeks or having to

Speaker:

spend money to order yards and yards print words in any

Speaker:

language or font,

Speaker:

add logos,

Speaker:

images, even photos,

Speaker:

perfect for branding or adding ingredient and flavor labels to for

Speaker:

more information,

Speaker:

go to the ribbon print company.com.

Speaker:

I think obviously I will talk a little bit about trying

Speaker:

to choose for yourself a perfect base,

Speaker:

especially when it comes to foundation.

Speaker:

So my masterclass that I did last month was I developed

Speaker:

a five step process of how to achieve a flawless,

Speaker:

natural makeup.

Speaker:

And I'm going to go through each of those process and

Speaker:

I'll try and be as brief as possible.

Speaker:

First of all is skin.

Speaker:

I can't emphasize this enough skin is the most important step

Speaker:

and to achieve a really good flow,

Speaker:

less space.

Speaker:

And why do I say so?

Speaker:

It's because your skin,

Speaker:

obviously that's where you're placing the product.

Speaker:

So think of it this way,

Speaker:

before you layer on anything on top of a playing ground,

Speaker:

you have to make sure that this Sophos is as smooth

Speaker:

as a baby bong.

Speaker:

So you need to make sure that it's well plumped and

Speaker:

very smooth when you touch it.

Speaker:

So the best way to do that is to use a

Speaker:

good moisturizer.

Speaker:

So some women,

Speaker:

I know,

Speaker:

unfortunately skip that process because probably they don't have time to

Speaker:

start off pods.

Speaker:

You see a huge difference in the appearance of your skin.

Speaker:

So literally massage your face cream.

Speaker:

There's a thin about this.

Speaker:

You can layer on with other products underneath something like a

Speaker:

serum or anything else that you use on underneath before your

Speaker:

face crib boss.

Speaker:

If you are not into all that,

Speaker:

if you don't have the time,

Speaker:

just go with your moisturizer,

Speaker:

literally work that moisturizer into your skin.

Speaker:

Some of my videos on my Instagram,

Speaker:

if you want to have a look,

Speaker:

I actually show a trick on how to do that.

Speaker:

So really walk into your skin.

Speaker:

What that process does for you is that it's triggers the

Speaker:

college in boost on your skin.

Speaker:

So it makes your skin look really nice plump for anything

Speaker:

else to go on top of fate,

Speaker:

it brings out the natural essence and natural oil on your

Speaker:

face. Okay.

Speaker:

I have a question on that.

Speaker:

So I've always heard that when you are touching your face,

Speaker:

you want to be as gentle as possible so that you

Speaker:

can don't pull on your skin.

Speaker:

That will then down the road,

Speaker:

create wrinkles.

Speaker:

What do you say about that?

Speaker:

I don't believe that because now when I say you walk

Speaker:

it into your skin,

Speaker:

I don't mean like really strong motion on my page.

Speaker:

If you can have a look,

Speaker:

does it process?

Speaker:

I think it was in my latest.

Speaker:

IETV the second to the last one.

Speaker:

So have a look.

Speaker:

There's a system that I use in walking that product up.

Speaker:

What you're doing is that you're lifting the controls of the

Speaker:

face. So you're not dragging anything at all.

Speaker:

It's only when you're dragging the skin down.

Speaker:

That is when what's,

Speaker:

you just says,

Speaker:

I, it comes to be true.

Speaker:

The only,

Speaker:

the most delicate parts of the skin on the face is

Speaker:

underneath the eye.

Speaker:

And you wouldn't need to touch those areas.

Speaker:

But when you are putting eye cream on just using your

Speaker:

ring finger applied very delicately around your eye area,

Speaker:

but any other parts of the face,

Speaker:

you need to walk the products into your skin.

Speaker:

Okay, perfect.

Speaker:

I'm looking at your ID TVs right now.

Speaker:

Would it be my complexion routine tutorial?

Speaker:

That's that?

Speaker:

Yes, because you may do some more IGTs before this episode

Speaker:

air. So that's the one you guys want to go to

Speaker:

look at my complexion routine tutorial.

Speaker:

Yes. And I'll probably do a skin routine,

Speaker:

actually. I would target on skin routines so that it's specific

Speaker:

to what I'm talking about.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

So we've got our moisturizer and I already know,

Speaker:

I don't use enough.

Speaker:

I try to,

Speaker:

I don't want to say I skimp,

Speaker:

but I don't want my skin to look oily either.

Speaker:

So I'm feeling like I need to do use more moisturized.

Speaker:

I think it's a really good point that you brought her

Speaker:

too, because that's another thing that puts people off using moisturizers.

Speaker:

So now,

Speaker:

depending on your skin type,

Speaker:

so we have different skin types.

Speaker:

We have oily,

Speaker:

dry, a combination of oily and dry,

Speaker:

and we have normal.

Speaker:

So I'm just going to talk about oily and dry skin.

Speaker:

So if you have oily skin look for moisturizers that is

Speaker:

oil free or have less oil in them.

Speaker:

So it's more of the hydro patient.

Speaker:

It's more of the extra benefits that you get for your

Speaker:

skin. So that is what you want to look for.

Speaker:

Buds, look for oil control moisturizers,

Speaker:

because there's a lot out there.

Speaker:

Secondly, if you have dry skin,

Speaker:

you look for rich moisturizers that would hydrate as well as

Speaker:

moisturize your skin.

Speaker:

So whatever skin type you find yourself in there is a

Speaker:

face cream or moisturizer for you.

Speaker:

Perfect. All right,

Speaker:

wonderful. I just made this longer than you were saying.

Speaker:

I'll be nice and short and succinct.

Speaker:

And I just made this way longer by accident.

Speaker:

But if I have questions I just might pop in,

Speaker:

I might not be able to resist myself.

Speaker:

No worries.

Speaker:

The next step of course would be to prime.

Speaker:

And then to lay your base with some foundation,

Speaker:

some heavy foundations,

Speaker:

have you covered foundations,

Speaker:

you may not necessarily need to apprise boards.

Speaker:

If it's a much finished foundation,

Speaker:

then I will say,

Speaker:

please do prime and also use good moisturizer underneath because that

Speaker:

will keep your skin hydrated for you through the day.

Speaker:

But if you have dry skin,

Speaker:

I would hundred percent encourage to prime with a glowy primer

Speaker:

because that will stop the foundation braking on your skin.

Speaker:

But it will also give you that nice glue.

Speaker:

And when it comes to foundation application,

Speaker:

this is so important for everybody's makeup style is different,

Speaker:

but for the style that I'm promoting,

Speaker:

which is a flawless,

Speaker:

natural base,

Speaker:

and little bit of foundation goes a long way.

Speaker:

You don't have to use the whole bottle of foundation for

Speaker:

you to get a flawless base.

Speaker:

I would say if you have problematic skin concentrate on the

Speaker:

areas that you feel that needs correcting,

Speaker:

Oh, you need to build on those are the areas and

Speaker:

leave the areas that you feel that doesn't really have much

Speaker:

in terms of what you needed to do for you.

Speaker:

Just work with what you have for people who have pretty,

Speaker:

okay, skin,

Speaker:

very good skin,

Speaker:

less is more as well,

Speaker:

always start from the middle of the face,

Speaker:

which is around the loos and work your way outward.

Speaker:

You will now find that you may not necessarily to apply

Speaker:

everywhere on the face.

Speaker:

So target on the areas that are problematic,

Speaker:

put more products on those areas and use less products outside

Speaker:

those areas and always use your concealer after your foundation.

Speaker:

And I will tell you why I recommend,

Speaker:

because if you go with concealer first,

Speaker:

all you see is just all the imperfections.

Speaker:

And then you try to layer in cover all the imperfections

Speaker:

with concealer.

Speaker:

Before you now go with the foundation,

Speaker:

you are literally kicking your skin up the best way to

Speaker:

do it.

Speaker:

Get your base right.

Speaker:

Apply foundation on the areas that you need foundation.

Speaker:

Now go in with your concealer on targeted areas.

Speaker:

Okay. Perfect.

Speaker:

Does that make sense?

Speaker:

Yes. It makes a lot of sense.

Speaker:

I do have some other questions,

Speaker:

but for sake of being able to get everything in,

Speaker:

I'm not going to ask all of them.

Speaker:

I'm only going to ask some,

Speaker:

are you still going to be talking about foundation or are

Speaker:

you going to be moving on?

Speaker:

Cause I have a foundation question,

Speaker:

but you might already be planning to answer it.

Speaker:

So Tell me,

Speaker:

go ahead and ask.

Speaker:

So You know how you'll see people who clearly have foundation

Speaker:

because you see the line under their chin and it's a

Speaker:

different color with their face,

Speaker:

then their neck.

Speaker:

Yes. How do you make sure that by accident,

Speaker:

like I'm not doing that because I can't always see in

Speaker:

the mirror properly.

Speaker:

Like what do we do about that?

Speaker:

That is cringe-worthy to me.

Speaker:

And I think to you too,

Speaker:

based on your reaction.

Speaker:

Okay. So how do I start this up?

Speaker:

The most important thing with foundation is to pick your right

Speaker:

shade and buy your right shade.

Speaker:

I mean,

Speaker:

when you're going to buy foundation,

Speaker:

please be specific in terms of what you are looking for.

Speaker:

Some people do wear tan all year long.

Speaker:

If you do that,

Speaker:

please tell whoever is saving you to give you a foundation

Speaker:

to match for when you,

Speaker:

we at time.

Speaker:

And if possible,

Speaker:

I will say,

Speaker:

please, however,

Speaker:

if you do wear time and when you are going for

Speaker:

your consultation so that they can match you,

Speaker:

right. Always much your foundation to your neck.

Speaker:

Some people,

Speaker:

their face is actually fairer than their neck.

Speaker:

So if that is your case,

Speaker:

make sure that you get a darker shade of foundation.

Speaker:

So it matches to the neck.

Speaker:

Oh, Interesting.

Speaker:

I'd always heard to match it to the inside of your

Speaker:

wrist, Noah.

Speaker:

Oh, who sees your wrist?

Speaker:

I know there are people,

Speaker:

maybe this is an old directive that definitely,

Speaker:

I heard tons of people say,

Speaker:

and that's what you do.

Speaker:

Like when you go up to make a counter,

Speaker:

sometimes they'll make you put it on the inside of your

Speaker:

wrist. At least they do in the States.

Speaker:

I will give you a little tip about the race.

Speaker:

The one about the race.

Speaker:

I'll give you a little tip about that.

Speaker:

But in terms of always much to your neck,

Speaker:

because just like Sue,

Speaker:

you mentioned earlier,

Speaker:

you don't want to have a dark face and in light

Speaker:

mag, or you don't want to have a dark Connect and

Speaker:

the light face you don't want that you always want to

Speaker:

match to what the color of your neck is.

Speaker:

That is why when you go to a makeup counter,

Speaker:

always have them match it to your jaw area because that

Speaker:

is it's very close to your neck.

Speaker:

So that color there is what's they should match you.

Speaker:

Perfect. That's great advice.

Speaker:

Okay. Now you were saying something about the risks.

Speaker:

The tape I have about the risk is this.

Speaker:

When you look at your wrist,

Speaker:

you will see your vein coming through.

Speaker:

What color is that?

Speaker:

So if it's blue,

Speaker:

it means that you a cool on the tone,

Speaker:

right? If it is green,

Speaker:

mine is green.

Speaker:

It means that I may warm on the tool.

Speaker:

One golden on the tone,

Speaker:

but if it's purple or some people have a combination of

Speaker:

green and blue,

Speaker:

so they can really tell it means that you fall under

Speaker:

the neutral category.

Speaker:

So that would be the only time you can make reference

Speaker:

to using raised so much to foundation,

Speaker:

not for you to put the foundation on the risk and

Speaker:

then that,

Speaker:

no, I don't agree with that.

Speaker:

Okay. So Beverly everybody right now,

Speaker:

while they're listening is looking at their wrist,

Speaker:

you know,

Speaker:

it, you so know it.

Speaker:

Like if you could imagine when people are listening,

Speaker:

how could you not pull up your wrist to see?

Speaker:

I know.

Speaker:

So I think I'm a blue-green actually,

Speaker:

I thought I was going to say blue,

Speaker:

but then when you said the green part,

Speaker:

I think I have both.

Speaker:

Yeah. So that's means that you fall under the neutral category.

Speaker:

Now, different brands have different ways of naming their foundation numbers.

Speaker:

So it's about knowing of your snail walk with a brand

Speaker:

that I can tell you completely,

Speaker:

exactly how it works for them,

Speaker:

but I can say for other brands.

Speaker:

So the best thing is because your audience is quite varied.

Speaker:

So the best thing is when you go too much yourself

Speaker:

on a makeup counter,

Speaker:

just have that fin in mind about matching to the neck,

Speaker:

but also checking the color,

Speaker:

the race that will empower you.

Speaker:

So when I talk about empowerment,

Speaker:

I'm telling you,

Speaker:

it's about you knowing what you are or what you want

Speaker:

and bringing it to them as well.

Speaker:

I love that.

Speaker:

And you know,

Speaker:

if you know that you're more on the cool side,

Speaker:

then at least,

Speaker:

you know,

Speaker:

the section to start looking in,

Speaker:

and then you dive directly into that for the exact match

Speaker:

versus having the whole range of options available.

Speaker:

Yes, definitely.

Speaker:

Oh, this is so great.

Speaker:

Beverly, I'm really enjoying this.

Speaker:

Okay. We've gotten so much already.

Speaker:

I have no idea.

Speaker:

What's coming.

Speaker:

Let's keep going.

Speaker:

This is so great.

Speaker:

Okay. What's the third point.

Speaker:

So the third point is contour and highlight.

Speaker:

Now this scares some people and it scares them because when

Speaker:

they see very young people on Instagram with this really nice

Speaker:

contoured face,

Speaker:

and I think that this is just not for me.

Speaker:

This is for young people.

Speaker:

Absolutely it's for everyone.

Speaker:

It's just knowing how to do it.

Speaker:

Knowing what products to use now,

Speaker:

when it comes to contrarian,

Speaker:

you have cream products to console.

Speaker:

You also have powder products to console,

Speaker:

which is your bronzer on your highlights.

Speaker:

So for people starting off who doesn't know what to do,

Speaker:

I will say,

Speaker:

just start off with powder products to control,

Speaker:

get your bronzer and your highlight.

Speaker:

So the bronzer definitely wants the face and it adds structure

Speaker:

back to the face.

Speaker:

So think of the number three and do that on your

Speaker:

face. So it's more of starting from your forehead as I'm

Speaker:

talking. I feel like I'm actually demonstrating my hand is already

Speaker:

on my forehead.

Speaker:

Okay. And we're right there with you.

Speaker:

I'm closing my eyes.

Speaker:

I'm right there with you.

Speaker:

Okay. Go ahead and correct.

Speaker:

So starting from your forehead,

Speaker:

so very close to your hairline in a second emotion,

Speaker:

and I'm talking about the Brunson now in a second emotion

Speaker:

applied that product.

Speaker:

So thinking of the number three from the forehead down,

Speaker:

so the cheek area,

Speaker:

and then down again to the line.

Speaker:

Okay. So number three and then down two.

Speaker:

So in a circular motion,

Speaker:

very close to your hairline,

Speaker:

applied your bronzer products.

Speaker:

So that's gives structure and gives warmth to your skin.

Speaker:

And when you are choosing your bronzer,

Speaker:

please choose at most two shades darker than your skin.

Speaker:

As most,

Speaker:

I would usually recommend to keep it quite natural,

Speaker:

just a shade darker than your skin.

Speaker:

But if you want to make it a bit more pronounced,

Speaker:

two shades darker,

Speaker:

otherwise, anything outside that will make the person look like a

Speaker:

clown and you don't want that.

Speaker:

And for me,

Speaker:

it's all about looking very classy,

Speaker:

looking very flawless,

Speaker:

Right? You have put bronzer on,

Speaker:

but no,

Speaker:

one's going to see that because when it all comes together,

Speaker:

it's just the,

Speaker:

all the layering.

Speaker:

Right. I know nothing about bronzer.

Speaker:

Is this in the video to the brander portion?

Speaker:

Yes. So it's in another video that I so see,

Speaker:

like you're literally giving me contents to do now.

Speaker:

So I'm going to focus and do or know those things.

Speaker:

So yes,

Speaker:

I'm going to do first of all,

Speaker:

just a skincare one.

Speaker:

And then secondly,

Speaker:

in terms of your base,

Speaker:

but it's in the video.

Speaker:

Yes. And then with your highlight,

Speaker:

the highlights goes on top of the cheek bone.

Speaker:

So it's also in the video that I uploaded as well.

Speaker:

So just on top of the cheekbone,

Speaker:

you can either use your finger or a brush and just

Speaker:

to tap it in and blend it out.

Speaker:

It's absolutely gorgeous.

Speaker:

It just lifts everything.

Speaker:

It just gives you a face lift.

Speaker:

Okay. I don't use contour or highlighter.

Speaker:

Okay. So this is going to be fun because I'm learning

Speaker:

something new,

Speaker:

but here's a,

Speaker:

I've always had about makeup.

Speaker:

Yes. With the layers,

Speaker:

like when you do your foundation and now you're talking about

Speaker:

the number three.

Speaker:

I totally understand what you're talking about with that.

Speaker:

But like isn't one,

Speaker:

when you overlay one on top of another,

Speaker:

isn't that hiding the other portion?

Speaker:

Like when you put the contour on you no longer see

Speaker:

the foundation.

Speaker:

Oh, No suit.

Speaker:

It's honestly,

Speaker:

it enhances it.

Speaker:

Do you know why?

Speaker:

Because when you have your foundation on,

Speaker:

it's just one color that you can see,

Speaker:

which is your normal skin color.

Speaker:

But when you now add bronzer,

Speaker:

you are now adding structure back on your skin.

Speaker:

And with that,

Speaker:

I mean,

Speaker:

the browser gives you that.

Speaker:

Nice sun-kissed look.

Speaker:

And it also gives definition on the areas that you've actually

Speaker:

applied it.

Speaker:

So it gives definition around the forehead,

Speaker:

down the cheek area and also depending which is something that

Speaker:

is quite complex.

Speaker:

And I'm not going to speak on it at this time,

Speaker:

depending on the shape of your face.

Speaker:

My face personally is rounded.

Speaker:

I always use the bronzer to give it a bit of

Speaker:

chiseled. Look,

Speaker:

if that's a word,

Speaker:

Okay. So I'm looking at your face on Instagram.

Speaker:

Now I'm pulling up one of the pictures because in the

Speaker:

end that you really can't see the three because you blend

Speaker:

it all in is all about the blending.

Speaker:

Okay. I'm going to let you continue carrying on I'm learning.

Speaker:

I'm going to definitely have to watch some of these videos

Speaker:

or take one of your classes.

Speaker:

It's all about the blend and incidence.

Speaker:

And that's why I said earlier in the beginning,

Speaker:

less is more.

Speaker:

If you use little of everything,

Speaker:

when you put everything together,

Speaker:

you won't actually necessarily see where one started and where it's

Speaker:

ended, because it's all a unit now,

Speaker:

instead of different fragments,

Speaker:

You shouldn't see it.

Speaker:

Cause we're going after the natural lock.

Speaker:

Yeah. Yes,

Speaker:

exactly. Perfect.

Speaker:

So now just going back slightly,

Speaker:

I know I mentioned it.

Speaker:

So I have to speak on it a little bit because

Speaker:

I mentioned you use,

Speaker:

there are two types of contouring,

Speaker:

the cream one and the powder.

Speaker:

So I went straight into the powder,

Speaker:

but for the cream one,

Speaker:

if you want a bit more pronounced,

Speaker:

look, then the cream is always better to use immediately after

Speaker:

the foundation,

Speaker:

blend it out and then layer it with the powder one,

Speaker:

which is the bronzer.

Speaker:

Does that make sense?

Speaker:

Yes, it makes sense.

Speaker:

Great. And it's also,

Speaker:

I did.

Speaker:

So the next thing in my five-step process is your brows

Speaker:

scoffing your brows.

Speaker:

So to the brow,

Speaker:

to me is what's gives you that nice facial framework.

Speaker:

It defines your face.

Speaker:

So a good brow walk.

Speaker:

You can actually,

Speaker:

personally, I can just do a brow and I'm happy to

Speaker:

go anywhere.

Speaker:

I want to go because it gives structure and framework to

Speaker:

the face.

Speaker:

So I always do this in class,

Speaker:

but I also try to make short tutorials so that people

Speaker:

can practice and work on achieving that really good result for

Speaker:

the Browns.

Speaker:

It's about filling the sparse areas on the brow and also

Speaker:

just following the natural line that your brow has and not

Speaker:

doing anything,

Speaker:

extra that to get it fuller or bigger brows it's not

Speaker:

necessary. So if you have naturally full brows,

Speaker:

just come be through with a brow gel for everything to

Speaker:

stay in place and to give it a nice shape.

Speaker:

But if you don't have naturally full brows,

Speaker:

you can still fill in your brows.

Speaker:

Very gently.

Speaker:

It's about that gentle motion of applying your brow product and

Speaker:

not going overboard with it.

Speaker:

I have a video on YouTube about that,

Speaker:

how to do a browse,

Speaker:

but it's also one of the bonuses that I offer for

Speaker:

my classes,

Speaker:

getting the perfect bra.

Speaker:

And then lastly,

Speaker:

which is not really lastly bots,

Speaker:

it's about the finishing look,

Speaker:

isn't it.

Speaker:

So it has to do with your eyes.

Speaker:

It has to do with the lips.

Speaker:

So some people are quite easy,

Speaker:

just a bit of lip gloss.

Speaker:

They are good to go.

Speaker:

And some like the idea of defining their lip with pencil

Speaker:

and then filling it in with lipstick on a glow.

Speaker:

So whatever the person's preference is is fine,

Speaker:

but it's also knowing what sort of color to go with,

Speaker:

maybe the dress that you're wearing or your hair color,

Speaker:

because when it comes to color,

Speaker:

there are different shades to it.

Speaker:

So say for example,

Speaker:

red, there are differentiates to red.

Speaker:

So the red that we see too may not necessarily suit

Speaker:

me. So there is blue way red and there's more orangy

Speaker:

rates. So it's about picking out,

Speaker:

but I need to see the person to be able to

Speaker:

pick out once shade of red would actually want best for

Speaker:

you. So those are the things that one of the benefits

Speaker:

as well,

Speaker:

I guess,

Speaker:

in attending the class.

Speaker:

So it helps.

Speaker:

And then the eyes,

Speaker:

Oh my God,

Speaker:

I love doing eyes as well.

Speaker:

Simple, a bit more dramatic,

Speaker:

whatever your preference is,

Speaker:

both. I always go for the simple,

Speaker:

nice eyes and with eyes as well.

Speaker:

It paints on your eye shape.

Speaker:

One of the questions I get a lot about eyes,

Speaker:

eye makeup is the feeling fleek.

Speaker:

Do you know?

Speaker:

It seems.

Speaker:

Yeah, I do.

Speaker:

But why don't you describe it just in case some of

Speaker:

our listeners,

Speaker:

don't Great.

Speaker:

It's an extension using pencil to extend the outer corner of

Speaker:

the eyes.

Speaker:

So some people struggle with that.

Speaker:

They may not necessarily get it perfect,

Speaker:

but also it depends on what their eye shape is.

Speaker:

They feel that it's not for them.

Speaker:

It literally is for everyone.

Speaker:

It's just knowing how to do it.

Speaker:

And the best team that I would give,

Speaker:

you know,

Speaker:

that's why chief get a really nice extension on the outside

Speaker:

corner of the eye is to look in the mirror with

Speaker:

your pencil gently from the bottom of the eyes,

Speaker:

sketch out that line.

Speaker:

Don't be heavy handed with it.

Speaker:

Be very soft handed,

Speaker:

sketch out the line first and then make a connection from

Speaker:

the top,

Speaker:

from the edge,

Speaker:

outside the corner and then connect to the top.

Speaker:

Okay. That makes sense.

Speaker:

I'm also thinking that 0.5,

Speaker:

like the eyes and the lips.

Speaker:

This is where you make your adjustments.

Speaker:

If you're going into an evening,

Speaker:

look versus a day LA yes.

Speaker:

You change it out there.

Speaker:

Everything else stays pretty much the same.

Speaker:

Maybe a little heavier on the contour or highlight perhaps if

Speaker:

you're going into nighttime and you want to be dramatic,

Speaker:

would that be right to say You're a hundred percent,

Speaker:

right? Yes.

Speaker:

Okay. What about any makeup adjustments?

Speaker:

If you're going to be live,

Speaker:

for example,

Speaker:

should you do something different then If you're going to be

Speaker:

live, I would say we are something that you will be

Speaker:

comfortable because you want to be yourself.

Speaker:

If we're in less,

Speaker:

we'll make you comfortable.

Speaker:

Please do it.

Speaker:

If we are in more,

Speaker:

we'll make you comfortable.

Speaker:

Please do it.

Speaker:

It's about to me.

Speaker:

That's just my answer to the question.

Speaker:

It's about what makes you comfortable?

Speaker:

Okay. You know,

Speaker:

years back I was in a group where we had professional

Speaker:

makeup artists come in to do pictures of us.

Speaker:

If we had public appearances,

Speaker:

like we always had to have our hair and makeup done

Speaker:

by people.

Speaker:

We were never allowed to do it ourselves.

Speaker:

And they threw so much makeup on me.

Speaker:

It felt so uncomfortable.

Speaker:

And so on natural.

Speaker:

Oh. And at first it was fun,

Speaker:

but later it was terrible because like,

Speaker:

first of all,

Speaker:

it took forever to get off.

Speaker:

It didn't feel good.

Speaker:

Like, I felt like my skin couldn't even breathe,

Speaker:

breathe. Yeah.

Speaker:

Like I felt weighted down by it and I looked at

Speaker:

myself, I'm like,

Speaker:

you know,

Speaker:

this isn't even me,

Speaker:

so I totally can relate to what you're talking about there.

Speaker:

For sure.

Speaker:

Yeah. And so I have a couple more questions really quickly

Speaker:

that I want to ask you,

Speaker:

but what kind of adjustments should we be making?

Speaker:

As we get older with our makeup routines and maybe how

Speaker:

much makeup we apply,

Speaker:

what advice do you have as we add on our years?

Speaker:

Oh, so the best advice is less,

Speaker:

is more because from my experience of working on a makeup

Speaker:

counter, I have some gorgeous,

Speaker:

beautiful, mature ladies come in and they just want to look

Speaker:

themselves. They just wants to look beautiful without caking themselves up.

Speaker:

So the best thing I would do,

Speaker:

like I said,

Speaker:

initially is let them walk on the skin,

Speaker:

just get the skin right.

Speaker:

Once you get the skin,

Speaker:

right. Use less of foundation.

Speaker:

If you need concealer on any area,

Speaker:

apply a little bit of concealer on that area.

Speaker:

Less is more that may not necessarily have to use a

Speaker:

bronzer. If it's not India routine,

Speaker:

I would recommend it.

Speaker:

But it's not a must for me.

Speaker:

It must in make up for,

Speaker:

I would say probably more mature.

Speaker:

Ladies is skincare,

Speaker:

really nice,

Speaker:

soft base set with powder to make sure that it lasts

Speaker:

you all day because you don't have time to be touching

Speaker:

all the time.

Speaker:

And then just put some really good mascara to open up

Speaker:

the eyes.

Speaker:

Some nice lip gloss.

Speaker:

And that's it.

Speaker:

Oh, before I forget some,

Speaker:

maybe a blusher,

Speaker:

just a flush of color on the cheek because you don't

Speaker:

want to look in 'em all down.

Speaker:

So that's gifts in nice lifts on the cheek.

Speaker:

Blusher. I would highly recommend blusher.

Speaker:

Okay, perfect.

Speaker:

I'm a do it in the morning and that's it,

Speaker:

girl. Whatever happens in the morning.

Speaker:

I don't even give it another thought one day.

Speaker:

You know,

Speaker:

I need to tell me soon.

Speaker:

Let me ask you the question.

Speaker:

Now tell me what's your routine.

Speaker:

Oh, I'm being put on the spot.

Speaker:

Okay. So here's what I do.

Speaker:

I first put on my foundation and while we were talking,

Speaker:

I did a little bit see that video.

Speaker:

I didn't look at all of it.

Speaker:

I just wanted to see a little bit of how you

Speaker:

put on the moisturizer.

Speaker:

I do the moisturizer.

Speaker:

I need to do more.

Speaker:

I'm sure of that.

Speaker:

And so I'll do that.

Speaker:

Then I do my eyes.

Speaker:

Cause then I'm letting my moisturizer sink into my skin.

Speaker:

And so with my eyes,

Speaker:

I do foundation and then just a regular eye shadow routine

Speaker:

that I've been doing for years.

Speaker:

I have like three or four different colors.

Speaker:

I do the same thing every time I love it because

Speaker:

it's easy and fast.

Speaker:

I know what I'm doing.

Speaker:

I could probably have an update there,

Speaker:

but anyway,

Speaker:

so that's what I do.

Speaker:

Then I come back to my face and I put primer

Speaker:

on and then my foundation and no bronze or anything,

Speaker:

I'm not my good Dewey.

Speaker:

I like a matte look,

Speaker:

not the dewy look.

Speaker:

So I put my foundation on.

Speaker:

Then I put my blush on.

Speaker:

Then I put powder all over.

Speaker:

Cause I feel like the powder also helps blend everything.

Speaker:

So there's no lines.

Speaker:

And then I put my mascara on last and then I

Speaker:

turn off that makeup mirror and I move on.

Speaker:

That's my honest to God thing.

Speaker:

I love that.

Speaker:

And how long does that take you to about seven minutes?

Speaker:

Look, I'm telling you that's is exactly what I'm talking about,

Speaker:

but you know,

Speaker:

as long as you're happy with that and it does the

Speaker:

job for you,

Speaker:

to me,

Speaker:

it's all about comfort.

Speaker:

You're comfortable suit.

Speaker:

That's all that counts.

Speaker:

But I think I need to some browse,

Speaker:

I'm actually Looking at my gift biz podcast logo.

Speaker:

So you guys could see it.

Speaker:

I have like no browse there and I'm always look willing

Speaker:

to do new things.

Speaker:

And sometimes maybe you spend a little bit more time if

Speaker:

it's nighttime.

Speaker:

I mean all those things,

Speaker:

but I can't believe you got that out of me after

Speaker:

we get off,

Speaker:

you might say,

Speaker:

okay, Sue,

Speaker:

we need to talk.

Speaker:

Okay, couple other questions.

Speaker:

Do you have any additional guidance?

Speaker:

If you're light skinned versus dark skinned?

Speaker:

Is there anything we should look out for if we're either

Speaker:

of those ranges?

Speaker:

Oh, That's a good one.

Speaker:

So weight foundation,

Speaker:

not necessarily just about matching to your right shade for skin

Speaker:

care, we all need to take good care of the skin.

Speaker:

So whatever you find works really good for your skin.

Speaker:

In terms of other aspects of makeup,

Speaker:

our probably save for deeper skin.

Speaker:

We tend to warm towards the pet colors because they bring

Speaker:

down our features more for Caucasian skin,

Speaker:

softer colors,

Speaker:

compliments, both the eyes,

Speaker:

their hair.

Speaker:

And I guess the overall look so it's all in colors

Speaker:

to play with.

Speaker:

But having said that,

Speaker:

all colors can go for everyone is just deeper skin tones,

Speaker:

lighter colors.

Speaker:

Doesn't really flatter them.

Speaker:

That makes sense.

Speaker:

And some of the really fun,

Speaker:

bright colors that I'll see would look terrible on me.

Speaker:

That's true.

Speaker:

So that's great advice.

Speaker:

That's just perfect.

Speaker:

Yeah. Makeup in general is the same for everyone.

Speaker:

It doesn't necessarily matter.

Speaker:

But I think the problem is in terms of color,

Speaker:

she's in the right shade for different people.

Speaker:

Well, yeah.

Speaker:

Right. Okay.

Speaker:

So now we all need to think about our routines.

Speaker:

Maybe make some adjustments,

Speaker:

definitely watch your videos for sure.

Speaker:

This has been amazing.

Speaker:

I wasn't expecting it to be as great as it's been.

Speaker:

This has been so much fun and selfishly,

Speaker:

I've gotten a little bit of a coaching,

Speaker:

but you pulled it out of me too.

Speaker:

Thank you so much.

Speaker:

So thank you.

Speaker:

I so appreciate it.

Speaker:

So you were relatively new at what you're doing.

Speaker:

You're not new with your experience,

Speaker:

but you're new with how you're bringing this online,

Speaker:

which is so,

Speaker:

so exciting.

Speaker:

So we all have to go and follow your growth because

Speaker:

you're seeing success right out of the shoot,

Speaker:

which is so great.

Speaker:

And you're in an industry that we can all use because

Speaker:

when we're now doing lives and all of that,

Speaker:

we need that confidence.

Speaker:

We need to be empowered.

Speaker:

So I'm going to come back and be watching your things

Speaker:

over and over again,

Speaker:

please, because I don't know what magic you yet have to

Speaker:

reveal that we don't know yet,

Speaker:

but besides expanding on all of this,

Speaker:

do you have anything else in the works?

Speaker:

Yeah. So I know it's came up earlier,

Speaker:

which I slightly said not yet.

Speaker:

Yes I would.

Speaker:

It's what I'm walking towards.

Speaker:

It may not necessarily happen immediately.

Speaker:

Boss. I plan,

Speaker:

I dream and I believe it will happen soon too on

Speaker:

my makeup brand.

Speaker:

At some point in the near future,

Speaker:

your Very own makeup brand,

Speaker:

my Very own makeup brand with my signature.

Speaker:

I love it with my signature style.

Speaker:

Yes. You know,

Speaker:

I see that as such a compliment because you could say,

Speaker:

while you're doing your videos,

Speaker:

I'm using this color stream with this color,

Speaker:

this color,

Speaker:

this color.

Speaker:

So you're saying specifically which ones now you're probably doing all

Speaker:

that already,

Speaker:

but with someone else's brand,

Speaker:

right? Yes,

Speaker:

it was.

Speaker:

So now you'd have your very own.

Speaker:

And who knows,

Speaker:

like if it's going to be eyeshadows or lotions or I

Speaker:

don't know what you're going to do,

Speaker:

Whatever I start off with,

Speaker:

I promise you.

Speaker:

So it will be very good.

Speaker:

Nope. Question about that.

Speaker:

You are quality all the way.

Speaker:

I knew that right from the beginning,

Speaker:

like the second we were talking.

Speaker:

Okay. Talk forever Beverly,

Speaker:

but I suppose I should let you go and let everybody

Speaker:

who's listening.

Speaker:

Move on with their day as well.

Speaker:

But once again,

Speaker:

thank you.

Speaker:

Thank you so much for coming on sharing so many tips.

Speaker:

This is not anything we've ever done on the show before,

Speaker:

but we talk a lot about live.

Speaker:

So it's so compatible to making all of our lovely ladies

Speaker:

out there.

Speaker:

Feel more confident,

Speaker:

be empowered to share their messages with the world.

Speaker:

So Beverly thank you again so much.

Speaker:

Thank you so much.

Speaker:

Honestly, you brought out the fin and mean that I didn't

Speaker:

know why you've got it.

Speaker:

You don't know how I panicked like minutes before this.

Speaker:

And then you literally made me feel so uncomfortable.

Speaker:

And I want us to continue,

Speaker:

please. We will,

Speaker:

maybe we'll have to have a sequel now or you never

Speaker:

know. Oh,

Speaker:

thank you so much.

Speaker:

Wasn't this just the best.

Speaker:

Did you learn some new techniques?

Speaker:

Definitely go back and check out Beverly's videos on YouTube and

Speaker:

Instagram to see more.

Speaker:

Maybe even take one of her classes.

Speaker:

Hmm. Maybe she'll give away a free class next year as

Speaker:

one of our prizes for national bakers crafters maker's day.

Speaker:

I didn't just say that.

Speaker:

It's really just between us.

Speaker:

I don't want to put her on the spot or anything,

Speaker:

but I'm making a note.

Speaker:

Okay. So in the beginning I told you that I have

Speaker:

two days for you on self-love.

Speaker:

This one of course was about being our most beautiful selves

Speaker:

and how our looks affect how we show up next week.

Speaker:

We'll be talking about our words,

Speaker:

how we communicate verbally,

Speaker:

also affects our business.

Speaker:
