Melissa Brown, MD - Coach, Author, Speaker, Teacher, and Podcast Host.
After leaving medical practice in 2009, Melissa discovered the online world and never looked back! After coach certification, she began a healthy lifestyle coaching practice online and quickly fell in love with blogging, writing, and content marketing.
Melissa believes that coaches have the power to change the world. Unfortunately, too many coaches get discouraged by the amount of content they need to create for marketing their business and this can lead to overwhelm and giving up on their dreams. There's such a ripple effect when a dream dies, so Melissa is on a mission to help coaches and solopreneurs overcome the overwhelm when it comes to content creation so they keep those dreams alive.
Your content can impact massive amounts of people and positively change the world. You've got content in there inside you; let's get it out into the world.

Speaker:Where that information and your services can impact the
Speaker:most people. Get ready to take notes today and
Speaker:then take action content creators. Let's dive in with
Speaker:today's episode because you've got content to get out
Speaker:there. Hey there and welcome back to another episode of
Speaker:the She's got content podcast. I'm your host
Speaker:Melissa Brown. In today's episode, let's
Speaker:explore the world of podcasting. I'd love to
Speaker:discuss how it can benefit coaches and small business owners like
Speaker:you, So let's dive in.
Speaker:As a coach and a small business owner, you know the importance of sharing
Speaker:your expertise to connect with your audience. In today's
Speaker:digital age, there are all kinds of mediums to choose from.
Speaker:Maybe you're already blogging or creating video
Speaker:content. And most people maintain some sort of presence on
Speaker:social media, as much as we might hate it. However,
Speaker:podcasting offers different and very unique
Speaker:advantages over those other mediums that can really set you apart
Speaker:from the competition. and help you build a real loyal
Speaker:community of listeners. Let's start by addressing
Speaker:the first advantage, the power of your voice.
Speaker:Podcasting allows you to communicate directly with your
Speaker:audience. It creates a personal connection that goes beyond
Speaker:those written words or visuals. Your voice
Speaker:carries your passion, enthusiasm, your authenticity,
Speaker:and that can resonate deeply with your listeners.
Speaker:By hearing your voice consistently through podcast episodes,
Speaker:your audience feels like they truly know you, which builds trust and
Speaker:strengthens the coach-client relationship.
Speaker:Podcasting also offers a great bit of flexibility.
Speaker:Unlike video content, which requires your audience's undivided
Speaker:attention, podcast episodes can be enjoyed
Speaker:while multitasking. Listeners can tune in during their
Speaker:commute, while they exercise, or while they're doing household
Speaker:chores. That convenience factor allows you to reach
Speaker:a broader audience who may not have the time or the inclination to consume
Speaker:other types of content that you put out there. Another
Speaker:advantage of podcasting is its portability.
Speaker:With the podcast, your content can be accessed
Speaker:anytime, anywhere using a smartphone or any
Speaker:portable audio device. Your listeners can take you along
Speaker:on their journeys whether they're traveling, walking in the
Speaker:park, or simply relaxing at home.
Speaker:This accessibility ensures that you're constantly present
Speaker:in their lives. You can provide value and support
Speaker:whenever they need it. Now, let's
Speaker:compare podcasting to blogging and video content
Speaker:creation. While both those mediums have their
Speaker:merits, they also have some certain limitations.
Speaker:Blogging requires strong writing skills, time to craft
Speaker:engaging content, and the ability to optimize it for
Speaker:search engines. Although blogs can reach a wide
Speaker:audience, they may lack the personal touch and emotional connection
Speaker:that your voice brings. Let's look at some specific
Speaker:examples. where podcasting offers this unique advantage
Speaker:of being accessible and convenient for listeners.
Speaker:Imagine you're a coach and your potential client, Lisa,
Speaker:is interested in your expertise, but she's got a busy
Speaker:schedule. With a podcast, Lisa can listen
Speaker:in to your episodes while she's commuting to work. As she sits
Speaker:on a train or a bus, she can have her headphones on or
Speaker:her earbuds in her ears. This way, she can absorb
Speaker:valuable insights, strategies, and inspiration
Speaker:from your podcast, without disturbing her fellow
Speaker:commuters. Most cars allow some type of connection to a cell
Speaker:phone to access a podcast player app from that
Speaker:phone. Now, if Lisa drives to work, she can listen to
Speaker:podcast episodes while she's in the car, much the same way as
Speaker:listening to her favorite radio station or a music
Speaker:channel. No matter which way Lisa commutes to work,
Speaker:she can turn her commute into a learning experience to make the most of her
Speaker:time and start her day on a positive, empowering note by
Speaker:listening to your podcast. Now, let's consider
Speaker:another scenario. In this scenario, we
Speaker:have Sarah, a stay-at-home mom. She's got a lot on her plate with
Speaker:household chores, and she's taking care of her small children.
Speaker:While she's tidying up the playroom, doing laundry,
Speaker:or preparing dinner, Sarah can listen to your podcast.
Speaker:By doing so, she turns mundane tasks into
Speaker:productive and enriching moments. Your podcast becomes
Speaker:her companion. offering guidance, and
Speaker:motivation as she navigates her busy day.
Speaker:Another great example of multitasking with podcasts is during
Speaker:exercise or during a workout session. Here we
Speaker:have John. He's a fitness enthusiast. He loves going for
Speaker:long runs. So instead of just focusing on the physical aspect
Speaker:of his workout, he can enhance that experience by
Speaker:listening to your podcast while he runs. Your
Speaker:episodes could be centered around fitness tips, mental
Speaker:resilience, motivation. By
Speaker:combining physical activity with educational and inspiring
Speaker:audio content, John can optimize his time and gain
Speaker:valuable knowledge while staying fit. And it's not just
Speaker:while running. Exercise is a great time to catch up on podcasts.
Speaker:Walking outside, stretching, treadmill, or elliptical
Speaker:time, those are other great examples of exercise time that can be
Speaker:done while listening to podcast episodes.
Speaker:Podcasts also fit perfectly into the context of
Speaker:relaxation and self-care. Let's say
Speaker:Emma enjoys unwinding with a relaxing bath or while
Speaker:taking a long walk in nature. By tuning into your
Speaker:podcast, she can immerse herself in your soothing voice
Speaker:and insightful discussions. This creates a
Speaker:serene enriching environment where she can reflect, gain
Speaker:new perspectives, and feel empowered on her personal growth journey.
Speaker:On the other hand, video
Speaker:content creation will demand technical expertise.
Speaker:It demands equipment and a visually appealing
Speaker:presence. It can be time-consuming to shoot, edit,
Speaker:and upload those videos regularly. Additionally,
Speaker:some people may feel camera shy or really uncomfortable
Speaker:on screen. and that can hinder their ability to
Speaker:connect with their audience authentically. Podcasting however
Speaker:strikes a balance between convenience, and connection. It
Speaker:allows you to showcase your expertise without that need for visual
Speaker:aesthetics. It doesn't need expensive equipment
Speaker:or extensive editing. By focusing solely
Speaker:on your voice, you can concentrate on delivering valuable
Speaker:content, sharing your stories, and engaging
Speaker:with your listeners on a deeper level. Finally,
Speaker:podcasting opens doors to collaboration and
Speaker:networking opportunities. Inviting guests on your podcast
Speaker:allows you to tap into your expertise, share
Speaker:valuable insight with your audience and expand your professional network.
Speaker:These connections can lead to joint ventures
Speaker:and referrals and increased visibility within
Speaker:your coaching niche. The beauty of podcasting is
Speaker:that it seamlessly integrates into various aspects of
Speaker:people's lives. allowing them to maximize their
Speaker:time and engage with valuable content while they
Speaker:multitask. Whether that's during commutes, household
Speaker:chores, exercise, or moments of relaxation,
Speaker:podcasting offers a portable
Speaker:and flexible medium that adapts to the listener's lifestyle. So
Speaker:to recap, podcasting offers unique advantages
Speaker:for coaches and small business owners. It provides
Speaker:a personal connection through the power of your voice. It
Speaker:offers flexibility and portability for your listeners and
Speaker:it bridges the gap between convenience and connection. While
Speaker:blogging and video content creation have their place, podcasting
Speaker:gives you an edge by delivering your expertise in a way that
Speaker:truly resonates with your audience. If you've been thinking
Speaker:about starting your own podcast, The Podcast Kit and

Speaker:Alright. So to summarize today's lesson, as a coach,
Speaker:keep in mind that podcasting allows your audience to listen
Speaker:and engage with your content while performing everyday tasks,
Speaker:commuting, housework, exercise, relaxation.
Speaker:By offering those valuable insights and guidance through your podcast,
Speaker:you're empowering your listeners to make the most of their time and infuse
