The value of networking can not be underestimated. Someone we have identified can be helpful to us in a particular way.
It’s a quid pro quo in this sense: You gain a favor and your contact is complimented. They indeed have something they can offer of use to another and in that way, they are special and important.
You want to be specific with your questions. What exactly do you want and need to know from this individual? How can they help you?
Be sure to identify how much time you might expect the meeting to take. Offer to buy them coffee or if it’s at their office, you might bring them something.
Perhaps you can do something for them in return. Be sure to thank them, in email or even better, a handwritten note.
