Hey everybody, it's Tara, Bryan, and you are listening to the course building secrets podcast. In today's episode, I want to talk about when to offer one on one calls. So a lot of times for my students, they are doing sort of a hybrid online course experience, meaning you have a package online offer it but you want to do a little bit of sort of personalized touch points with your students. And so a lot of times, that's the approach that we're using, for a lot of different reasons I won't get into today. But if you're curious, give me a shout We can talk through through it. But basically just kind of bottom line it. A lot of times people think they want an automated or autopilot online course. But it's not fulfilling them. And their need to actually help and serve and create an impact with our customers. And so by creating a hybrid option, it gives you that ability to connect with your learner's to really give them some personalized one on one attention, but not have to actually teach it or, you know, do all of the coaching or all of the done for you services. Separately beyond that, right? So. So one approach, one kind of lens or facet of an of a hybrid course experience is the one on one time. And so a lot of times when people come to me, the biggest question is like, well, when do I have one on one calls? Is it once a week? Is it once during the program is at the beginning? Is it the end? Isn't the middle like when when do I need to connect with people? And so I want to address that today? Because I think it's a common question that people have, especially when you're trying to add in sort of the one on one pieces of this. And the most impactful place that you can add in one on one is, first of all, at the very beginning, to really be able to personalize and provide you that learner with a sort of a customized path. Right. So if they come in, you're able to learn about their business, you're able to learn about them, you're able to build a relationship, and you're able to help them have an experience through your program that's customized for them. And that doesn't mean that you're like doing something different for them, it just means that you're able to help them navigate through your, you know, online, auto pilot automated whatever you whatever you want to call it, right experience, so they can get the most out of it. And so that is, by far, the number one place I love to put it in a one on one is establishes a relationship that establishes sort of the baseline, and allows you to you know, really meet somebody where they are be able to step in and help them really determine how they specifically can go through your program. So if you're going to do one on one on one, that is the time that I would recommend doing it is right away, at the beginning to really get the ball rolling, and establish sort of the cadence of how that all how the whole experience is gonna go. The second place that I recommend putting one on ones is not actually in a scheduled cadence. And what I mean is, is that if you have so you have 10 modules, and you determine that you're going to put in, you know, one on ones, you know, the first half and then the second half or you know, this module and that module and kind of it's all sort of random based on what your availability is. That's not the approach that I actually recommend. The biggest place that I would put in a one on one is in the places that you know they're going to struggle. So if you don't know this yet, then you either haven't helped enough people or you haven't thought about it from the learners perspective to think like where are the challenges that they're going to run into? Or the obstacles or the hurdles however you want to think of them along the path. Sometimes the certain mindset or belief, sometimes this is like, you know what, sometimes this activity, if you don't do it, it's going to be really difficult. Right? So pick out those places in what you're teaching that that path that you've put together, or that roadmap like, where are the spots that are going to be really difficult for someone, that's where I would build in some one on one time. So, you know, again, if you have a program already, these are the places where people start to drop off. These are the places where you will start to get a lot of questions. This is the time when they're reaching out to you, like I don't understand, or I don't know what to do, or how do I do this in my business? What does this look like this doesn't, you know, this doesn't feel like it's something that works for me, those are the times that you know that if you were going to put in specific times to connect with people, those would be the times that you would want to do that. Because here's what happens is if you're putting in too many one on ones, and people won't schedule them at all, and it's frustrating for you, and it's frustrating, you know, for them, because they're not actually getting what they need, at the time that they need it. And for you, you're like, Well, why isn't anyone calling me like I'm available? Like, why isn't anyone scheduling one on ones with me, and it's because you're not coming in at the right place. And so be very strategic and intentional about where in the experience, they are going to maybe struggle or there is going to be hurdle, there's going to be an obstacle, and I will challenge you that you could actually use that information as well to kind of beef up that section and have a specific place where you're addressing Well, this is going to be a little challenging, here's the activity that you can do. Here's an example, here is an extra video, those kinds of things where you can, you know, really anticipate and build in some more structure some more meat in that particular area that you know, that they're gonna struggle in. But it's also a great place to put in a touch point, or a one on one with people. So for me, I know that when people are in the process of building their, their slides, right, they get, they get their their framework defined, their whole roadmap is defined, and then they have to actually get in there and you know, kind of land the plane, right, determine what's the one goal that they have for every module and then focus on building it, they're gonna like, that's inevitably where everyone starts to kind of break down. And it's stressful. Even though we have templates and tools and different resources for people that is the one place where everyone sort of starts to derail. That is where we put in an intentional touch point, we have a workshop, and we put in some one on ones, if they need some help kind of going in and getting that specific, like how, you know, how do we structure this module? How do we structure this one? What does that look like? What does it look like for me? Where do I find all the things right? And so that's where we have scheduling a one on one, we also schedule the one in in the launch process, because you know, when you have to start building out your sales pieces in your offer is another place where they have to talk it through, they have to have somebody who can guide them through it's a little bit more personalized than what we have in program. Right. And so again, like those are the places that we've intentionally put in extra one on one opportunities for people to be able to take advantage of really diving in specifically to their, their particular information or their pieces, or whatever it is that we're working on. And so so that is my course billing tip for you today is when you're thinking about how somebody is going to go through your map, your path, your framework, whatever you want to call it. You're going to think about like when does it make sense to put in specific touchpoints, specific one on ones specific places where you can actually dive in and help. So again, the first one is at the beginning. It's a great place to set the set up the relationship and get the ball rolling, it helps to get people there because then they're going to engage then they feel more connected. They feel like there's actually a person behind this course that they're taking, and they have a personalized then experience in terms of how do I go through this? What's the right thing for me? How do I set my own goals to get to the outcome? Perfect place to put a one on one. And then those anticipated places along the way where people are going to need more one on one help and being really intentional about this obstacle points.
