Shownotes

Calm and chaos. Yin and yang. Navigating how to process these things. Such is life. Besides being a delightful experience, The 12th Annual MixMatch Dance Festival by Hart Pulse Dance Company inspired thoughts on calm and chaos.

Session Summary:

  • Freestyle Flow: The song You Give Love a Bad Name by Bon Jovi came to mind when I drove by a long standing food establishment. Driving by, the smells are intoxicating. But when I actually tasted it, I can hardly describe how bland it really was. So I say to that place, You give grub (food) a bad name. LOL
  • Feature Presentation: My recent attendance at The 12th Annual MixMatch Dance Festival inspired observations on calm and chaos as follows:

1. What can be calm to one, can be chaotic to another, and that's okay.

2. Everybody is in leadership. Leadership position first has to be over yourself, then over others.

3. When things are chaotic, are you reacting or responding?

4. Decrease the time you are spending on certain things or obliterate them all together. More is not always better.

5. Find your peeps. No, not those marshmallow things. Just because a certain group of people don't welcome you, doesn't mean that another group won't embrace you.

7. When you experience chaos, you appreciate calm, and vice versa. The contrast of the various companies was a nice mix.

8. Get clarity about your sequences whether in your dance choreography or business processes.

9. Don't dwell on what you don't like. You can find something positive in everything if you choose.

10. Don't be apologetic for what you do like.
