You are listening to The Pigskin Predictions Podcast with your hosts Tomas, Kevin, Liam, and Ben.

In this episode of Pigskins Predictions, we discuss Matchups for the week and our predictions.

Segment 1: Bills @ Ravens

Bills' young receiving core vs Raven's veteran secondary

Lamar Jackson versus the Bills' linebackers is an intriguing matchup. Jackson's elite speed and agility make him one of the most dangerous running quarterbacks in NFL history. His ability to break the pocket and create plays on the ground forces the Bills' linebackers, especially Matt Milano and Terrel Bernard, to stay disciplined in both pass coverage and run defense.

Milano's versatility allows him to cover tight ends and running backs well, but containing Lamar will be a significant challenge. Bernard, while athletic, will need to show excellent awareness to stop Jackson from breaking long runs.

The Bills may also employ spy techniques to keep Jackson from getting loose, but that often comes at the cost of defensive flexibility, leaving open lanes for Lamar to exploit with his arm.

Overall, the battle between Jackson’s mobility and the Bills' linebacker discipline will be key to determining how effective Baltimore's offense can be against Buffalo's defense.

Segment 2: Chiefs @ Chargers

For our second match, we have a division rivalry as the Chiefs head to Los Angeles to face off against the Chargers. With the Chargers having found new success with new coach Jim Harbaugh, it should be interesting to see them battle it out against a football powerhouse like the Chiefs.

From a Chiefs fan's perspective, Week 4 against the Chargers is a crucial divisional matchup. Patrick Mahomes has a history of success against the Chargers, but their defense is formidable, especially with players like Derwin James and J.C. Jackson in the secondary.

Mahomes will need to exploit mismatches and spread the ball to his talented receivers, particularly Travis Kelce while being mindful of the Chargers' ability to create turnovers.

On the defensive side, containing Justin Herbert will be key. Herbert has shown the ability to go toe-to-toe with Mahomes in past matchups, so the Chiefs' pass rush, led by Chris Jones, will need to pressure him consistently.

Overall, the Chiefs will want to control the tempo, play smart, and capitalize on any mistakes the Chargers make to come away with a win in what should be a high-stakes, high-energy game.

Segment 3: Our Picks and Predictions

I have the Bills in the first matchup and the Chiefs in the second because the Chiefs have such versatile weapons in the backfield they can pass, run, and run RPOs. They also have a key factor that not many teams have. They have Harison Butker who can make a field goal from 60+ yards, So if Mahomes ever fails to find the endzone we have Harrison Butker to get us some points. Then the Bills have Josh Allen who is an excellent quarterback he can run and he can pass and they have James Cook, one of the best RBS in the league right now

I have the Ravens in the first matchup and the Chargers in the second because I think with the Ravens being a very bass-heavy team the Bills secondary down the field will struggle against their receivers. I think Harbaugh’s new energy and coaching style have brought the team to an all-time high with energy and the Chiefs are a team they want to beat as they are division rivals. The running game with J.K Dobbins will beat out the Chiefs this week and I think the Chargers defense has some potential to apply pressure on the Chiefs offense.

I have the Ravens in the first matchup and the Chiefs in the second because I think the Ravens have had a slow start to the season, but ultimately, their weapons on offense outweigh the Bills' offense. For the Chiefs matchup, I think the Chargers are a solid team this year, but I don’t see them beating out an already-tested great team like the Chiefs yet.
