Meabh de Burca, Kim Flood & Emma Singleton (Save Our Sonia)

Meabh de Burca is a special guest host on the show this week as the 52 times capped Galway player takes a look back at the International Friendly double header last week and her own career

Breifne Earley is also joined by guests Kim Flood on her return to the WNL after globe trotting in an Irish Rugby 7's jersey and Dundalk Women's player Emma Singleton to talk about the "Save our Sonia" campaign for her former team mate, former FAI Cup winner Sonia Hoey.

Regular host of the podcast Stephanie Roche is unavailable this week, due to her breaking another glass ceiling for females in Irish football, becoming the first woman to co-commentate an UEFA Champions League quarter final on Irish television on Tuesday evening but Meabh de Burca has stepped up.

The Galway WFC and former international player joins Breifne to share her thoughts on the bright prospects of the Irish national side after their two games against higher ranked opposition in Denmark and Belgium ended in 1-0 defeats in both encounters.

She talks through some of the youngsters coming through the Irish ranks and discusses the reality of what's involved with a qualification campaign and the new bar set this week by Northern Ireland's European Championships qualification at the expense of Ukraine.

Wexford Youths' new signing Kim Flood (21:11) sits down with Breifne to discuss her return to the league having featured for Castlebar Celtic in 2013. She chats about her time as a professional 7's player in the green jersey of Irish Rugby as well as her All Ireland final appearances with Dublin's Ladies Gaelic Football team.

She talks about her injury issues which ended her rugby career, the challenge of stepping back into the WNL fold after many years out of the game at this level and how a taste for football with her local club St. Pat's CY in Ringsend reignited her interest in the sport.

We are also joined by former Dundalk and Templeogue United player Emma Singleton (40:56) to talk about her former teammate Sonia Hoey. The former FAI Women's Cup winner with Dundalk has recently been diagnosed with cervical cancer. Her friends and family have started the 'Save our Sonia' campaign to raise the funds required to obtain the necessary treatment in Mexico.
