So often I hear folks complaining about their work life. Is it satisfying enough, do they look for something else or stay the course? The consideration to remain may include things like potential opportunities, being recognized, financial benefits of longevity.

Some folks just "landed" on a position or in a company for reasons having nothing to do with intention. I hear things like, "I came here for a year and find myself in the same place in year 10." They wonder, sound like they may have missed out on something, like they ought to have been more deliberate in decisions about their work lives.

But I guess some of the quandary can be answered by considering whether one has a job or career. Very simply, a job is what one does to receive a paycheck and a career is more of a planned effort to achieve in a particular field.

We need to know what we are intending for ourselves and have an open mind. To want only to perform a function to receive a paycheck is fine. But if you go into work each day with a heavy heart and a longing to address a passion or do work that is truly meaningful, know that you can do that. "Don't die with your music still in you," as was said by Wayne Dyer. All things are possible, even having a calling, which has only to do with that passion work. It's what you do willingly and happily, where you are "in the zone" and not clock watching. It is usually knowing your signature strengths and putting those to good use.

So what do you have now and what do you want for yourself? Know that you can achieve whatever is within your desire and in fact, are fortified by what you are good at, what is important to you. GIve that to the world!
