Shownotes

There are two sides to the vetting practice when it comes to employment. The corporation is checking for the prospect’s ability, willingness and cultural fit for the position. The individual is checking for the ability of the company to meet their expectations of authentic and open (willing to listen) leadership, learning opportunities and inclusion.

If the two are a near-perfect match (not sure there is ever “perfection” in a match), then maybe, just maybe there is a possible long term association. I have never believed that individuals jump from one job to another for money alone. It has to be more than that!

The internet has brought us so many opportunities that were not easily available prior to –and indeed, it is clear that we are taking advantage of it. Still, I really like the idea of longevity for what it provides us. The workplace is a “second home” for most of us. It seems the “musical chairs” world of leaping from one job to another loses a component of lifelong attachments and second family. Perhaps that reinforces the need for us as the individual to do the proper due diligence prior to accepting a position.

I wonder if that would modify this idea of longevity any?
