Sebastion:

What's up, and welcome to the Single Player Experience.

Sebastion:

As always, I'm your host, Sebastian Malden, and today we're doing a deep

Sebastion:

dive into Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Sebastion:

For a topic of this magnitude, I had to bring in a special guest.

Sebastion:

My guest today is none other than Devil Fruit.

Sebastion:

Joe.

Sebastion:

Joe is the host of the Anime podcast, the Devil Fruit Podcast.

Sebastion:

He's been playing the Pokemon Games all his life.

Sebastion:

He's a master of these games, and he's a huge fan of Nintendo games, period.

Sebastion:

In this episode, we're talking about all things Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the

Sebastion:

pros, the cons, and everything in between, because this is the deepest discussion

Sebastion:

edition of the single player experience.

Sebastion:

So without further ado, let's get started.

Sebastion:

Dj, start the intro, man.

Sebastion:

Joe, how you doing today?

Sebastion:

I'm doing pretty good.

Sebastion:

It's always a good time with you, Sebastian.

Sebastion:

Always fun.

Sebastion:

Always fun.

Sebastion:

Glad to have you back on the show.

Sebastion:

So, Joe, just for the people who don't know you, can you

Sebastion:

introduce yourself to the audience?

Joe:

Sure.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

So I mean, like you said, I'm one of the three hosts of the Devil Fruit Podcast.

Joe:

Um, you can find us on the devil fruit podcast.com if you want.

Joe:

Uh, we also have, uh, pretty much out everywhere on Spotify and any massive

Joe:

listening platform, uh, you can get a little taste of me and my three

Joe:

buddies, or me and my two buddies.

Joe:

Um, and, uh, beyond that, you know, I, my day job is a personal trainer

Joe:

and I work in a gym and all that fun stuff, so, Hey, nerds can exercise too.

Joe:

Yeah, . All right,

Joe:

. Sebastion: Yeah, for sure, for sure.

Joe:

So, Joe, like before we begin, I asked you like the last time we, we talked about

Joe:

your top five anime of all time, what are your top five games of all time, though?

Joe:

I, I should've, I should've known.

Joe:

You would've not just, just been like, ah, okay.

Joe:

Okay.

Sebastion:

Um, I got a funny question for you.

Sebastion:

Coming next though.

Sebastion:

Games.

Sebastion:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

games.

Joe:

Okay.

Joe:

Uh, I'm just gonna do my best to be as fast as I can be cuz I

Joe:

know I can take my time, um, in, in no specific order right now.

Joe:

I'm just gonna say the titles as I think, and then I might put them

Joe:

in a later or, or in order later.

Joe:

I don't know.

Joe:

Um, the first one that comes to my head is Legend Zelda Mojo's Mask.

Joe:

Um, after that I have a real soft spot, obviously for Super Smash Bros.

Joe:

Um, But I should probably be specific.

Joe:

I, I'll, I'll say ultimate.

Joe:

I have, I have most of my time in Ultimate, and, and

Joe:

I think it's a great game.

Joe:

Um, you know, I love the original and Melees great.

Joe:

Uh, but I've spent most of my time in Ultimate, um, I would be a, I'd

Joe:

be a fake fan if I tried to say anything else, um, after that . Okay.

Joe:

The next title that popped in my head was actually We Sports Resort.

Joe:

Uh, but I don't think that's gonna make this list.

Joe:

That would cause a riot probably.

Joe:

But that was a fun game

Sebastion:

though.

Sebastion:

I would be shocked if you put a your top five though.

Sebastion:

. I'm absolutely shocked.

Joe:

I mean, do you remember that showdown sword mode?

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

where you're walking down the street and you're just, ah.

Joe:

Anyway,

Sebastion:

Absolutely

Joe:

shocked.

Joe:

There's, there's a no.

Joe:

Okay.

Joe:

I'm, I'm gonna replace it.

Joe:

? Yeah.

Joe:

Uh, there's a game for Nintendo 64 called Ogre Battle 64.

Joe:

What

Sebastion:

a throwback.

Joe:

It's a, it's a strategy game.

Joe:

Uh, and it was one of the first like r PPG games that, like your decisions actually

Joe:

changed, like the course of the game.

Joe:

Um, and it was long too, and I like played that over a summer

Joe:

and it was Oh, so ogre Battle 64.

Joe:

That's the fantastic.

Joe:

Um, I would also put two more, two more, two more, two more.

Joe:

My nos, my real nostalgia pick would probably be Yoshi's Island.

Joe:

Okay.

Joe:

I think that's probably the best side scroller game I've ever played in my life.

Joe:

Um, Last one.

Joe:

I'm gonna say, just to throw a little variety in here, cuz I mean, like,

Joe:

if I'm being really true to myself, a Nintendo game would probably

Joe:

take every single spa on this list.

Joe:

But I would have to think pretty hard and long about all that

Sebastion:

I was, I was just about to mention, I was like,

Sebastion:

this is very Nintendo heavy.

Sebastion:

Listen, I,

Joe:

I, I am what I am uh, um, I'm gonna, I'm gonna say I'm trash at this game.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, but I loved my solo campaign and my adventure through, uh, halo three.

Sebastion:

Oh, this is solid one.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. Yeah.

Joe:

Halo three.

Joe:

And I mean, even that's a toss up between Halo three and Halo O D S T.

Joe:

but I honestly probably played Halo three more just because I waited

Joe:

to get O D S T like a long time.

Joe:

And then when I finally got it, I, like, I didn't spend as much time on it.

Joe:

Um, probably

Sebastion:

Halo three.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

Not bad.

Sebastion:

Not bad.

Sebastion:

Did throw like playing as humans throw you off in O D S T versus like playing

Sebastion:

as of Spartan in the other Halo games?

Joe:

Mm.

Joe:

I mean, like initially, but after like level two or whatever,

Joe:

like you get used to it mm-hmm.

Joe:

and you're just like, all right, this is the game.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

Uh, and the story's just so good.

Joe:

Um, I love that type of story.

Joe:

Um, like Star, it's, it's like, you know, I'm, it like Star

Joe:

Wars Rogue One, , halo OD S T.

Joe:

Mm.

Joe:

Like, there's some other, like, old War movie I'm thinking of that.

Joe:

I can't think of the name right now, but that, that, uh, oh,

Joe:

all quiet on the Western front.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

just like gorgeous.

Joe:

And there's a book too.

Joe:

Uh, honestly, the movie's like just as good as a book.

Joe:

Anyway, . Anyway.

Joe:

I love, sorry, tangents.

Joe:

Um, that would be my top five right now.

Joe:

Uh, otherwise I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll keep you here all night,

Sebastion:

man.

Sebastion:

I love it.

Sebastion:

I love it.

Sebastion:

It's a solid list.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

I, I think Ogre Battle of 64 is the only one I haven't personally played.

Sebastion:

If you're patient,

Joe:

it's a great game.

Joe:

The, the first couple levels in stuff is a little tedious playing

Joe:

it the second time through.

Joe:

I mean, maybe it's just fine still going by your first experience.

Joe:

Um, but my second time through I was like, dang, I forgot how long this was.

Joe:

Cuz it's like part of the game mechanics is.

Joe:

, imagine like a top down adventure game on a tabletop.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. And you're a little piece that's like slowly walking across the board.

Joe:

And as the game progresses and you choose where you wanna level

Joe:

things up, one of the things is you kind of start to move faster.

Joe:

So it's like, it makes the later game feel so great because the first like

Joe:

five levels, you're like, this is taking forever . But then by the end you're like,

Joe:

I'm a God . Like it's, I like it, it's very effective at what it's trying to do.

Joe:

Um, but the beginning is a little tedious, I will say.

Joe:

But, you know, I'm a distance runner.

Joe:

I all, I have been for a long time.

Joe:

I, I love that type

Sebastion:

of thing.

Sebastion:

Oh man, I can probably get into it.

Sebastion:

sounds very similar to what I experience all the time in civilization games.

Sebastion:

So that sounds right at my alley as well.

Sebastion:

See,

Joe:

and I've never played a civilization game, but I've watched

Joe:

my brother do it on PC a couple times.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, and I was like, okay, d like, like those sorts of things.

Joe:

Like, uh, what is it?

Joe:

Age of Empires.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, is that kind of a similar thing too, right.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

Yeah, yeah.

Joe:

Like I would, he would wa he would play that all the time.

Joe:

And I remember looking at that and, and I feel about it the same way I kind of feel

Joe:

about d and d , where I'm like, I look at it and I'm like, that's pretty cool.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, that would probably suck me in.

Joe:

I shouldn't touch that.

Joe:

. Like, I, I, I understand like, like it's an addict knowing my behavior and I'm just

Joe:

like, I shouldn't, uh, unwrap that box.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Stay away from that.

Sebastion:

I definitely recommend staying away because like, it, it sucked

Sebastion:

me in and has not letting me go.

Sebastion:

I think I'm like three years of playing this exact same game and I'm like, sure.

Sebastion:

I, I should probably get tired of it sooner or later,

Sebastion:

but it hasn't happened yet.

Sebastion:

, dude, just like

Joe:

smash, you know, like it's really just the same thing.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

Over it.

Joe:

It's like I just, I'm not tired of it, man.

Joe:

you got every

Sebastion:

time's just a little different.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Uh, it's, it's just enough difference to keep you like engaged and I, I

Sebastion:

feel like that's all that matters.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

So, so Joe, I gotta ask you one last question before we

Sebastion:

get to the topic of the show.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

you've played Super Smash Brothers quite a bit, so I know you're

Sebastion:

familiar with the character of Kirby.

Sebastion:

Now.

Sebastion:

I love Kirby.

Sebastion:

Now, if Kirby absorbed you, what powers would it get?

Joe:

That's, that's a creative question.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, uh, My , my, my gut, my like, first thing that popped into my head was

Joe:

like, it would actually be the first Kirby transformation to just like,

Joe:

have a detriment . Like, it would, it would like, like Kirby would

Joe:

suck me up and he would get glasses.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

and then the screen would become blurry.

Joe:

Like, like that would be, that would be, that would be, in all honesty,

Joe:

probably what Kirby would get.

Joe:

Uh, that Yeah.

Joe:

No, I'm just gonna stick with that.

Joe:

That's what, that's what Kir, that's what Kirby would get for

Joe:

an ability, would be a handicapped to everybody sitting on the couch.

Sebastion:

How may, but, but your athletic though, so he'd

Sebastion:

probably get enhanced strength.

Sebastion:

You just couldn't see shit.

Sebastion:

Right.

Sebastion:

But,

Joe:

uh, uh, maybe.

Joe:

Sure.

Joe:

like, maybe he could, maybe he could like, have an extra jump

Joe:

cuz he could jump a little higher.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

or something.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, I don't know.

Joe:

Or, or, or maybe, or maybe his punches become like, Or, or, or no.

Joe:

Cause I'm not necessarily strong.

Joe:

I could take punches.

Joe:

So maybe he like, he gets like 3% less knock back on all of the attacks against

Joe:

him, but the scream becomes blurry.

Joe:

That would be more accurate.

Joe:

Okay.

Joe:

That would be more accurate.

Joe:

He would, he would, he would survive longer, but everything would be different.

Joe:

, Sebastion: he could probably, he could

Joe:

Maybe run, maybe his ground speed.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

goes up just a tiny bit, like maybe now he's like equal to Fox or something maybe.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

I don't know.

Joe:

That's a great question, . Boy, that's phenomenal.

Sebastion:

All right.

Sebastion:

All right.

Sebastion:

So Joe, let's get to the topic of the show.

Sebastion:

I hit you up, I captured a pigeon in the street basically.

Sebastion:

I attached on that pigeon's leg and just a carrier note.

Sebastion:

And I sent it into the void and I said, pigeon, I need

Sebastion:

you to go send a note to Joe.

Sebastion:

And on that note it said, Joe, I need you to play Pokemon Scarlet or Violet

Sebastion:

so we can have a deep discussion on it.

Sebastion:

Yes.

Sebastion:

and you sent back that same pigeon.

Sebastion:

I don't know how you recaptured this critter, but you sent back this same

Sebastion:

like pigeon and you said, I'm down.

Joe:

Yeah, pretty much . So, I mean, it is pretty much, pretty much what happened.

Joe:

It was like, Hey, I must step ahead of you.

Joe:

I already got Scarlet.

Joe:

Let's go.

Joe:

. . I think it was actually the day I purchased it.

Joe:

Might have a no cuz I, well shoot, I don't know.

Joe:

I don't remember quite, I got it.

Joe:

Day one at Target.

Joe:

I don't, I It was soon.

Joe:

It was, it was quick.

Joe:

It was, it was, it was a beautiful time.

Sebastion:

Okay, so you got it day one and you went with Scarlet.

Sebastion:

I happened to go with Violet, so we kind of have a little bit of com like

Sebastion:

comparison there to make out of it.

Sebastion:

But I want to ask you like, what's your history with Pokemon

Sebastion:

overall, like the Pokemon Games?

Joe:

Um, like where, what was my first exposure and things like that?

Sebastion:

Yeah, like how long have you been playing the Pokemon games?

Joe:

Sure.

Joe:

So like, okay, so I'm, I'm not as old as this is gonna make me sound.

Joe:

I , I have older siblings and they obviously, I was allowed to play

Joe:

some of their games, some of their games, um, as I was growing up.

Joe:

And, and one of them was, we had a green game boy color and, and a see

Joe:

through Purple Game Boy Advance.

Joe:

And we, I was, I played Pokemon Yellow.

Joe:

and Pokemon Crystal and Pokemon Silver.

Joe:

Um, and I just played all of those just like on repeat.

Joe:

But I nev, I don't think I ever actually beat a single one, but

Joe:

I just, I just like entered the world and played, uh, for years.

Joe:

I just did

Sebastion:

that.

Sebastion:

So, so you never like got the motivation to actually like, see

Sebastion:

the journey all the way through.

Sebastion:

You just kept like battling these like Pokemon over and over again.

Joe:

I'm sure I like tried, uh, . . I, I'm sure I tried, but I, I was very much,

Joe:

and I still kind of am like I, I have my team and I get attached to my team.

Joe:

Mm.

Joe:

as it develops.

Joe:

You know, somebody might le have to leave the roster or something.

Joe:

If it's like going up against a fire gym and I have like a, like too many

Joe:

grass types or something like that.

Joe:

Like I might have to make a tough choice . But if I'm deep in the game, no,

Joe:

like I get attached like it's an issue.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, like, , like, uh, and, and, uh, but as I get further and further into the game

Joe:

and like my people are like, you know, 60 or, or like maybe a little bit above or

Joe:

something like that, and then I have to go and I have to train up somebody else to

Joe:

come up onto my team that I already don't like as much as the people on my team.

Joe:

Like, nah.

Joe:

So I would just like beat my head against a wall if I ran into a gym

Joe:

trainer or a gym leader, uh, and that I like wasn't beating mm-hmm.

Joe:

and I would just, I would just run it.

Joe:

I would run it back, run it back, run it back until I like bulldozed

Joe:

my way through eventually.

Joe:

Um, and I think also part of it was like I was playing these games.

Joe:

Kind of like, as I was learning to read . So, uh, so like, I didn't know, like I,

Joe:

there was a lot of times I remember like, I would get lost in the games mm-hmm.

Joe:

, and I'd be like, I'd be like, I'd have to like get my brother.

Joe:

My brother would be annoyed and he'd be like, I don't want to show you.

Joe:

Like, just go forward.

Joe:

And I'd be like, where is that ? Uh, so I like, I, I didn't know, like

Joe:

the, I, I think I like, kind of knew the Elite Four existed and

Joe:

stuff, but I like didn't mm-hmm.

Joe:

. Um, and I would just, so I would just play it and then every now and then

Joe:

I'd like have to start over because somebody like messed with the cartridge

Joe:

and we had to like do that , um, you know, um, but, uh, yeah, that was, that.

Joe:

And the, the same way with Zelda, um, Zelda Animal Crossing and

Joe:

Pokemon, like, taught me to read.

Joe:

Like, that's frankly.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, like, frankly, animal Crossing a little bit later.

Joe:

But Animal Crossing was one of those games that was like, so text heavy.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

and they speak gibberish, , uh, you know, just like Zelda, I

Joe:

mean, like Zelda, if you can't read it, you can't play the game.

Joe:

Uh, and so that was like, yeah, I like, yeah, that was, that, that's my story

Joe:

with Pokemon is where I got started.

Joe:

Um, and then I think my, like my cousin let me borrow his,

Joe:

uh, Sapphire and then he let me borrow his Emerald once or twice.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. And I remember liking the music and stuff and I thought

Joe:

the updated graphics was cool.

Joe:

Um, and I grew a soft spot for like Mud Kip and, and you know, all that.

Joe:

Um, but then I took a big break.

Joe:

I didn't play another game until Pokemon White, cuz I thought Zham looked sick.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, um, . Andy was on the Ds and I was like, okay, I have one of these.

Joe:

Um, and then I never got a three Ds, so I had another whole big skip.

Joe:

Um, and then the next game I played was, uh, scar, or no, the

Joe:

next game I played was sword.

Joe:

And Sword.

Joe:

Disappointed me, it was way too easy.

Joe:

It, like, I, I, I like, did not enjoy my play through of Sword.

Joe:

And I can say that now because I now have Scarlet mm-hmm.

Joe:

. . Okay.

Joe:

And that's just all I'm gonna say now.

Joe:

That's, that's, that's all I'm gonna say there.

Joe:

But like, you know, sword was cool and it was awesome seeing like, the

Joe:

update of visuals, cuz you know, I had a 64 and I played Pokemon

Joe:

Stadium and Pokemon Stadium two.

Joe:

Mm-hmm and, and all my life I was like, why is there not

Sebastion:

a 3D Pokemon game?

Sebastion:

Pokemon

Joe:

game with this?

Joe:

Like, you clearly have the capability of doing this.

Joe:

You have a whole game.

Joe:

Based around just battling, you're more than halfway there, just like

Joe:

, Sebastion: you know, just,

Joe:

Huh?

Joe:

Like,

Joe:

you know, it, it blew my mind.

Joe:

And, and, and then there was like Pokemon Coliseum and Pokemon Gala darkness, and

Joe:

I remember hearing about them, but I also remember hearing, like even when they came

Joe:

out that they were like kind of whack.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. And, and I was like, well, I'm just not gonna touch that.

Joe:

Uh, and finally it took, you know, 20 some years . Uh, but we're here and we're now.

Sebastion:

So Joe, like your history with Pokemon is like surprisingly, almost

Sebastion:

mirrors mine like almost to the T because I played Pokemon like red, blue and

Sebastion:

yellow back in the day, like Absolutely.

Sebastion:

Oh cool.

Sebastion:

Yeah, mowed through those.

Sebastion:

I played Pokemon like crystal silver and gold back in the day as well.

Sebastion:

Oh shoot.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Played all those, I played Emerald, uh, you know, I played Emerald.

Sebastion:

I think that was that version.

Sebastion:

And then I skipped all the DS versions.

Sebastion:

Like I did not have, I did not have a Ds or a three Ds and I was just

Sebastion:

like, I'm not gonna buy this, this one handheld for this one device.

Sebastion:

Sealed coincidentally was my first time back into Pokemon as well.

Sebastion:

And like yourself, I was extremely disappointed because

Sebastion:

I was just like, y'all learned nothing in the last 20 years.

Sebastion:

Like, I took a break from you for about 10 years and dude, if anything it was worse.

Sebastion:

It, it did feel that way.

Sebastion:

It, it did.

Sebastion:

You know what it felt like is like, like the story.

Sebastion:

Mm.

Sebastion:

It was bad.

Sebastion:

It was insane, dude.

Joe:

It was bad.

Joe:

It was insane.

Joe:

I was streaming with Jacob once and we were losing our minds

Joe:

about just like hop at the end.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. And the number of times this man said, darkest day in one

Joe:

sentence was just amazing.

Joe:

It was almost so like, it's, it's like I have a very, very, very,

Joe:

very, very fond memory of it, because it is so incredibly terrible now.

Joe:

But like, it's insane.

Joe:

And it's like the, like the, the, the bad guy's whole thing is like, we gotta,

Joe:

we gotta restore power to the world.

Joe:

And then there's this scene at the top of this tower where somebody

Joe:

else walks up and is like, but that's not for thousands of years.

Joe:

We don't need to worry about it now.

Joe:

Like, like we could maybe figure something out later.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

like, it's gonna be okay.

Joe:

My guy.

Joe:

And he ju and then the big bad guy turns around and is just

Joe:

like, basically, I don't care.

Joe:

, like, we're doing exactly this now.

Joe:

And it's like, dude, Just give me Giovanni and make it like a mob boss.

Joe:

We're fine.

Joe:

Like, we don't need to, or, or like, or like what they

Joe:

did with Scarlet and Violet.

Joe:

It doesn't have to be world shattering.

Joe:

No, like, It.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

And we're going to, we're gonna dive into Scarlin Violet later, but like,

Sebastion:

yes, sword and Shield it almost felt like it was almost the equivalent of

Sebastion:

going back to a ex-girlfriend after like so many years and you find out

Sebastion:

that she's the exact same person.

Sebastion:

You, she was like, when y'all broke up and it, it like, it was the exact same thing.

Sebastion:

And I looked at Pokemon and I was just like, okay, this might be what

Sebastion:

Pokemon is for the rest of my life.

Sebastion:

And then lo and behold, Scarlet Violet came out and while I got

Sebastion:

a lot of faults, and we'll go into those later, like it sure.

Sebastion:

It finally felt like we were actually getting a step forward for Pokemon.

Sebastion:

And I was like, yeah, yeah.

Sebastion:

This is the game we've been looking forward to since like you said, like

Sebastion:

the 3D Pokemon games of our childhood.

Sebastion:

Like yeah, Pokemon Coliseum and Pokemon Snap.

Sebastion:

It was like they figured out sure how to just take that and just put it in a

Sebastion:

switch game and just let us run wild.

Sebastion:

And I was just like, okay, this is what we were looking for.

Sebastion:

. Joe: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Sebastion:

No, I'm right there with you.

Sebastion:

That was a, a crazy analogy with like the ex-girlfriend thing, but

Sebastion:

that's , you know, like surprisingly accurate for someone in shield.

Sebastion:

I think that was, that was amazing.

Sebastion:

I

Sebastion:

loved listening to that , yo.

Sebastion:

For sure, for sure.

Sebastion:

Because it is, it is almost like going back to it.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

It has some

Joe:

shiny new pictures.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

and you thought, huh, and you kinda like, forgot all the rough things.

Joe:

Oh yeah, for sure.

Joe:

For sure.

Joe:

And then, and then you boot it up and you, you, you say hey, and then

Joe:

you're like, oh, I remember now.

Joe:

Should've done this.

Joe:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

I was like, I remember why we broke up now.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Oh

Joe:

shoot.

Joe:

That's why.

Joe:

Right.

Joe:

Okay.

Joe:

Yeah, yeah, yeah,

Sebastion:

yeah, yeah.

Sebastion:

you get it.

Sebastion:

So let's dive into Pokemon Scarlet and Violet though, specifically.

Sebastion:

So first off, we're gonna talk like just general impressions and then,

Sebastion:

then we'll give a spoiler zone warning

Sebastion:

But my first question for you though is what'd you think about the game overall?

Joe:

Just like my general takeaway, like Yeah.

Joe:

Surface of it before you don't like it.

Joe:

Do I do whatever?

Joe:

I'm basically, I would say it's great.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. Okay.

Joe:

Okay.

Joe:

Uh, like, I wouldn't say like, oh my God, I'm gonna like rip my

Joe:

headphones off and jump through the screen because I love it so much.

Joe:

But like, it's.

Joe:

. Yeah, I'll say that.

Joe:

I'll say that for sure.

Joe:

Uh, in, in a holistic sense, you know, if we are going into some

Joe:

of the details and things mm-hmm.

Joe:

, it's a game where, like if we were looking at stacks, like if this game was

Joe:

an R P G character and it had like, you know, some games are balanced mm-hmm.

Joe:

, some games will hit everything.

Joe:

This game is like, kind of like a glass cannon, like it's really high on some

Joe:

stats and like really low on other stats.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. And so, you know, you just gotta, it's, I think this game people,

Joe:

whether or not they enjoy it, will be dictated on what value they personally

Joe:

put on certain aspects of a game.

Joe:

I like that.

Joe:

Um, I like that.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

That would be my, that would be my What about you though?

Joe:

I mean,

Sebastion:

I am, I'm right there with you.

Sebastion:

Like, I, I think this is good.

Sebastion:

I don't think it's great, but I think this is like good, uh, like

Sebastion:

I am in that seven outta 10 kind of zone right now to where Sure.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Like I think I would

Joe:

numerically mm-hmm.

Joe:

I'm probably like seven B five.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

I like that.

Sebastion:

Maybe,

Joe:

but like eight, if I said eight out loud, I would like start

Joe:

questioning myself a little bit.

Joe:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

You'd almost feel like you're giving it too much credit at that point.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

I'm like, I might be tempted to call it an eight.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. But then I have like a weird hesitation

Sebastion:

I, I understand.

Sebastion:

I understand.

Sebastion:

And we're gonna dive into some of those faults, like in a little bit.

Sebastion:

But like, I think this game is so flawed.

Sebastion:

It is so bad in so, so many ways.

Sebastion:

, it is like, it is janky, like a waffle house.

Sebastion:

Like it is straight up, like it is straight up, like diabolical

Sebastion:

in some ways how bad this game is.

Sebastion:

And then other ways like.

Sebastion:

. And on the other side of the fence, like I don't give a shit because this is like

Sebastion:

the most fun I've ever, I've put, have had in Pokemon probably in the last 20 years.

Sebastion:

And that's literally

Joe:

exact same sentiment, dude.

Joe:

I'm like, yeah.

Joe:

I was like, it's glitchy as I'll get out.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, but something about it, I'm like, you know what?

Joe:

It's charming because the game, the game is good enough to where

Joe:

the faults somehow become charming.

Joe:

Oh yeah, for sure.

Joe:

Like if it was, if it had its faults that it had and the gameplay was

Joe:

bad, it would be like in the garbage.

Joe:

Oh yeah.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

But it somehow captured some charm.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Let's just be real about it.

Sebastion:

People know, uh, people know about like some of the issues that people

Sebastion:

had with the game coming in with it.

Sebastion:

Like, this game runs badly, it runs badly.

Sebastion:

It like the frames per second is absolutely terrible.

Sebastion:

And it has, it has this problems with glitches.

Sebastion:

And I'm right there with you if this game.

Sebastion:

if this game performed just perfectly or at least like decently, this would

Sebastion:

be the best Pokemon game of all time.

Sebastion:

And I don't even think it would be close.

Sebastion:

Like sure.

Sebastion:

I I don't, I don't think this, I don't even think it'd be close at that point.

Sebastion:

There, there would be

Joe:

a debate.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

I think it could be in like the running, if there was a

Joe:

tournament bracket or something.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

and I could be, I could be swayed.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

I, you

Sebastion:

know, here's the thing though.

Sebastion:

It's like I'm right there with you, but the, the freedom, the, the exploration.

Sebastion:

Yes.

Sebastion:

The fact that like the, the fact that this is a step forward towards the dream

Sebastion:

that you and I have been envisioning for this franchise for like 20 years and Yes.

Sebastion:

And even though it doesn't run well, like they, they nailed

Sebastion:

all the other aspects of it.

Sebastion:

And I'm like, yeah, that, that's the reason why I think I'd probably

Sebastion:

put it closer to, if not the top, in the top two probably.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

But.

Sebastion:

. Um, but I'm looking at Pokemon like, uh, violet specifically for me, and I'm

Sebastion:

thinking to myself, like, I haven't had this much fun just playing a game of

Sebastion:

Pokemon in forever, probably since I was like eight years old and I'm 31 right now.

Joe:

Same.

Joe:

Same.

Joe:

No.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

Uh, I, yeah, I didn't even have this much fun with white, uh, or

Joe:

black or whichever one I played.

Joe:

I don't know.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. Um, and, uh, yeah, I, I, I have not had this much fun with the

Joe:

Pokemon game in a long time.

Joe:

And like yeah.

Joe:

The glitches and things, they're, they're all visual and maybe it's just like,

Joe:

you know, us growing up with 64 games and all those crazy glitches mm-hmm.

Joe:

but it's like you.

Joe:

I could get past it.

Joe:

I move the camera and it goes away, or, or like I go to the

Joe:

next scene and it goes away.

Joe:

If anything, it just makes me chuckle because they look silly in

Joe:

the moment, , and it's, it's great.

Joe:

Like you've seen, everybody's seen the clips now at this point.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

of like a poke ball opening up and it's like inside a human almost

Joe:

and coming out in a funny way.

Joe:

And it's like, this is just funny.

Joe:

Or you see an MPC walking by and like their Pokemon is inside

Joe:

them and it looks like they have Pokemon feet in the human body.

Joe:

, like, it is, it's, it's, it's weird glitches that are just like, when you

Joe:

see them, it's not like, oh, I hate this.

Joe:

It's like, what the heck is happening?

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

It's like, it's like it makes you laugh.

Joe:

And, and, and that is a very fortunate thing, I think as far as the things

Joe:

that do bring it down, as far as enjoyment for me is like, If or

Joe:

when, the couple times where the game just legitimately like chugged Mm.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

Through something.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. And like, like there's some like frame drop, its for sure.

Joe:

But like, there was like maybe three times during my play through

Joe:

where like, it was, I thought the game was like gonna crash almost.

Joe:

Like I, I was like, I was like, oh shoot.

Joe:

I was like, is this, is it gonna happen today?

Joe:

? Uh, but, but it never did it, it caught up.

Joe:

It was good.

Joe:

Um, but, uh, but yeah, dude, it's, it's just that visual.

Sebastion:

Violet crashed on me three times.

Sebastion:

Like Three times did.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

It crashed on me.

Sebastion:

And this is still non spools people, but like it crashed on me right

Sebastion:

after a gym battle it, and I had to redo that gym battle all over again.

Sebastion:

It crashed on me.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

Right after a Titan fight, and I had to redo that titan fight all over again.

Sebastion:

And then it crashed on me as soon as I selected my like starter.

Sebastion:

And I battled the rival for the first time and like it crashed on

Sebastion:

me and I had to redo that, like the whole setup all over again.

Sebastion:

So those were like three times it crashed on me.

Sebastion:

And I just like, well, like I'll just, I'll, I'll go back to the,

Sebastion:

either the beginning or go back to where the last point it saved.

Joe:

Okay.

Joe:

Now, so have you heard people talk about, like, I've heard some whispers

Joe:

and whatnot, that people think that the scarlet version of the game is

Joe:

more buggy than, or No, the violet version is more buggy than scarlet.

Joe:

Have you heard anybody talk about that?

Joe:

Yeah, I, I've

Sebastion:

heard some people say that, you know, Scarlet ran

Sebastion:

a little better than Violet.

Sebastion:

I don't necessarily know if that's like from firsthand experience, if that's

Sebastion:

true, but I will say like, like comparing bugs, like if you and I just talked about

Sebastion:

some of the bugs that we've had, I didn't have that bug that you talked about.

Sebastion:

Were like the Pokemon, like the ball was looped.

Sebastion:

Like it came from inside the person.

Sebastion:

I didn't have that book.

Sebastion:

I had the Oh really?

Sebastion:

You

Joe:

never had like some funky

Sebastion:

visual stuff?

Sebastion:

I, I had some funky visual stuff, but like, mine was like, the, the

Sebastion:

legendary Pokemon that I was riding just completely disappeared at times.

Sebastion:

So it looked like I was just straddling air.

Sebastion:

That happened

Joe:

once.

Joe:

I think that happened to me once.

Joe:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Joe:

Yes.

Joe:

And it's just like, it's like, well, and it just makes you

Joe:

giggle . It is, it's humorous.

Joe:

I'm looking for things that make

Sebastion:

a giggle.

Sebastion:

It is humorous.

Sebastion:

So, you know, like, Let's go into s spoilers, you know, because right now we

Sebastion:

just gave our, our kind of surface level.

Sebastion:

But let's dive deeper into Pokemon here.

Sebastion:

Let me ask you, like, did you, first of all, did you complete the Pokedex?

Sebastion:

No.

Sebastion:

Are you

Joe:

going to maybe, uh, I've never, I, I did put more of an effort to this game

Joe:

to like catch as I was going regardless of if I really wanted the Pokemon or not.

Joe:

Same here.

Joe:

Um, and I don't know if that's evident or if I don't, I don't know if that's

Joe:

something to be said about the, the lure of like the 3D open world aspect.

Joe:

I think maybe a little bit, cuz I was like, oh, I see

Joe:

something I've never seen before.

Joe:

Let me run over there and like try and nav it.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

maybe.

Joe:

Um, but after I finished the game, I looked at my pokedex and I was

Joe:

like, oh, I have a long way to go.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

So, I don't know.

Joe:

I, I thought, you know, if you would've asked me halfway through my play through,

Joe:

I would've said, yeah, that's what I'm

Sebastion:

doing.

Sebastion:

Mm-hmm.

Sebastion:

. But now I'm like, probably not.

Sebastion:

, probably not.

Sebastion:

You

Joe:

know, I, some people are that people, uh, I don't feel a deep desire to do that.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, I beat the game.

Joe:

I did the, after I did the whole thing.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, uh, yeah, I'm probably not.

Joe:

Did you, are you?

Joe:

Where

Joe:

are

Sebastion:

you?

Sebastion:

Oh, hell no.

Sebastion:

I am, uh, no, no.

Sebastion:

God, no.

Sebastion:

Hold on.

Sebastion:

We're just the same on this.

Sebastion:

We are the absolutely the same.

Sebastion:

I'm not, no.

Sebastion:

Like I, I, I'm like, you like about the third or fourth gym leader, I was

Sebastion:

thinking to myself like, I can do this.

Sebastion:

Like I can probably right with this Pol adex and then like about that eighth gym

Sebastion:

leader and like two or three, I think I had like one Titan remaining and I

Sebastion:

was just like, I'm not gonna do this.

Sebastion:

I don't even feel entitled to do this.

Sebastion:

Like there's some Pokemon that I just generally don't care if

Sebastion:

I ever see again in my life.

Sebastion:

And dude, yeah, there's some of them that were like that.

Sebastion:

And then if I saw a Pokemon from like the generation one

Sebastion:

era, it was instantly captured.

Sebastion:

I'm like, I had to have it.

Sebastion:

Oh well.

Sebastion:

Yeah,

Joe:

yeah.

Joe:

But like it's all, it's all preference and stuff.

Joe:

And also

Sebastion:

they're just better.

Sebastion:

So Yeah, for sure.

Sebastion:

For sure.

Sebastion:

Gen one is obviously better than all the other gins, but like yeah.

Sebastion:

So, so if I saw like a Pikachu or even a magic harp, I was just

Sebastion:

like, you can come on you you can, you can sit next to me . Exactly.

Sebastion:

Exactly.

Sebastion:

Like I saw a grath and lost my shit.

Sebastion:

Like, I was like, Hey,

Joe:

I would literally save.

Sebastion:

Oh, like I saw one of him and lost my shit and I was like,

Sebastion:

yes, I remember you, the little guy.

Sebastion:

You're, you're coming on my team.

Sebastion:

Like right now, I don't care what fire Pokemon I had, I was just like,

Sebastion:

you, you're getting push to the shine.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

You're getting your chance to shine, buddy.

Sebastion:

Exactly, exactly.

Sebastion:

Because like Grath never got a chance to shine in the OG Pokemon games

Sebastion:

with me because like I always had a Charmander or something to that nature.

Sebastion:

Sure, sure.

Sebastion:

I, you know, there, there was no need for two of y'all, so like,

Sebastion:

you were, you were almost like the bootleg version of Charmander.

Sebastion:

So in this game though, like there's no charm mander, so

Sebastion:

you got your chance to shine.

Sebastion:

Yeah,

Joe:

yeah.

Joe:

Although I've saw somewhere, I saw somebody have a Char char.

Joe:

Yeah, like they did a, I think there's like a way to get

Joe:

him in the game, but it's,

Sebastion:

they did a raid.

Sebastion:

Um, they added like a, was a raid to where like you, you had to do it is

Sebastion:

a time raid and they put him in the game and you can capture him and then

Sebastion:

you can get like a charmander or a tra million through like basically

Sebastion:

breeding, so to speak, but Oh, okay.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

But, but they're not naturally game.

Joe:

It was like a special event, like sort of thing.

Joe:

Oh, okay.

Sebastion:

Well, yeah, I'm not, I'm not going back and doing that,

Sebastion:

so I don't That's that's fine.

Sebastion:

That's fine.

Sebastion:

So, you know, we talked about No charmer.

Sebastion:

let's talk about like the starters in the game.

Sebastion:

Which did you choose?

Sebastion:

I chose, I'm Team Fo Coco.

Sebastion:

Fo Coco What?

Joe:

Fu Coco.

Joe:

You cannot hear a name like Fu Coco.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. And not just like Smile . That's just, that's just such a happy name.

Joe:

It was a baller name.

Joe:

Little.

Joe:

A little, little pepper crocodile, like that's, that's great.

Joe:

I had high hopes what you would turn into

Sebastion:

I, you know, I, I was thinking Foy Coco and I, then I

Sebastion:

was also thinking of the, the cat, like the grass cat and Sgo Tito.

Sebastion:

Yeah, sgo Tito.

Sebastion:

And then unfortunately, I don't know what happened.

Sebastion:

I don't know if it was just a lack of, of forgetting who I am in life or if I

Sebastion:

was just having a, you know, just having just a blank moment to where I just

Sebastion:

felt like trying something different.

Sebastion:

I tried quacky, the, the, the duck.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

Por por,

Sebastion:

the bootleg Donald Duck.

Sebastion:

I tried him.

Joe:

Yo, really though.

Sebastion:

And for better or for worse, like, I, I like

Sebastion:

quacky, like the, the starter.

Sebastion:

I did not like his evolutions.

Sebastion:

Like he got uglier and uglier as he kind of like grew up.

Sebastion:

. Joe: I fully agree with that.

Sebastion:

I think all of the first evolution, like the baby versions mm-hmm.

Sebastion:

of all the starters are some of the best starters in, in a long time.

Sebastion:

Oh yeah, for sure.

Sebastion:

I think, um, but then they all kind of got worse as they evolved.

Sebastion:

Mm-hmm.

Sebastion:

And they all just got like, outside of, outside of the fire wine, they

Sebastion:

just, Pokemon is running a weird habit of just making everybody humanoid.

Sebastion:

Yeah, for sure.

Sebastion:

And it's like, it's like the charm of it is keeping 'em like special

Sebastion:

cool animals, like things I think

Sebastion:

I, I'm right there with you cuz Char are blasto and Venus orb we're

Sebastion:

still, still like basically animals.

Sebastion:

They were, they were like beasts.

Sebastion:

They were just giant versions and more badass versions of those beasts.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Like, like, um, quacky grew up to be a salsa dancer.

Sebastion:

Like that's basically what he was just legitimately

Joe:

mm-hmm.

Joe:

just, yeah.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

And, and like, you know, that's neat.

Joe:

But it's like, is that a Pokemon

Joe:

? Sebastion: No.

Joe:

And it almost felt more Digi mon esque, cuz Digi Mon always Oh yeah.

Joe:

Always had felt like humanoid ish kind of mean to me.

Joe:

They've

Joe:

had so many Digi mon esque designs, this one and the previous

Joe:

generation with Sword and Shield too.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. Um, they're just becoming more and more Digon esque.

Joe:

I mean, dude, the one, the, what is it?

Joe:

Char Cadet.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. If that is not a Digon, I don't know what is.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

It's got a cute little form, and then it evolves up to basically look exactly

Joe:

the same, but it's bigger, a little bit more humid and it's got more armor.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

like, like that just is Digi.

Joe:

I got . You, you even, you even have to get a special item.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

to, to evol.

Joe:

You have to armor.

Joe:

There's a thing in Digimon, it's armor.

Joe:

Digi al.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. You literally armored Didi ball this guy into his final form for, for the, uh, for

Joe:

at least the defense heavy version of him.

Joe:

There's, I know there's an intact version too.

Joe:

I, and like, it's cool.

Joe:

I did it and I enjoyed it.

Joe:

I had fun.

Joe:

But, but yeah, man, it's, it's, it's Digon and I love Digon.

Sebastion:

Mm-hmm.

Sebastion:

, I'm right there with you.

Sebastion:

But yeah, this felt different.

Sebastion:

Like Pokemon's supposed to be Pokemon Digon, ISS supposed to be digon.

Sebastion:

And even like the legendary, the legendary Pokemon that you play with and ride, onto

Sebastion:

this game felt Digi monish to me dude,

Joe:

Yeah, you, you've, you've seen, you've seen the DMA movie, right?

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, there's a.

Joe:

Were, they're riding on the dog Deman at the second half

Joe:

of the movie across the plains.

Joe:

And they, I think they got the song going on.

Joe:

They're like, Hey, didge, deman,

Sebastion:

champions of the digital world.

Joe:

Hey DeJuan, they're, yeah.

Joe:

And they're riding on his back trying to go meet up with everybody else cause he

Joe:

got separated like somehow and they're meeting up at a house or something.

Joe:

And, uh, like that, as far as I'm concerned, directly

Joe:

inspired what this game is.

Joe:

, , like, you know, . I didn't, I I didn't have that thought until right now,

Joe:

but now that's solid in my brain.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, Sebastion: I, I'm right there with you.

Joe:

I'm right there with you.

Joe:

So did you, like Foy Coco, throughout the whole thing?

Joe:

I

Joe:

did.

Joe:

And I, my, my gut reaction to the second evolution was, what the hell.

Joe:

. Uh, but then it grew on me.

Joe:

Cause I was like, okay, he kind of has like a lutalo vibe.

Joe:

And Luta, colos got a soft spot in my heart.

Joe:

Um, and, uh, and I was like, okay, maybe like the third evolution is

Joe:

gonna like 180 and like, go like crazy.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, uh, and they, they did, but not enough.

Joe:

But it wa yeah.

Joe:

Like, or, or it wasn't in the way that I wanted.

Joe:

Like, it, it didn't scratch, like, like it's like you ask somebody

Joe:

to scratch your back mm-hmm.

Joe:

, and, and, and you're like, oh, you know, a little higher, a little higher.

Joe:

And they, they go higher.

Joe:

But now their scratching pattern is different.

Joe:

So it's not the same.

Joe:

Like, you know what I mean?

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

like, so, so it's like, it's like, you did what I wanted but you didn't do it.

Joe:

Right.

Joe:

. Yeah.

Joe:

And, and you, I just feel a little unsatisfied.

Joe:

I'm thankful and I'm happy about it, but, uh, I'm, I'm just a little,

Joe:

I little was left to be desired.

Joe:

I think it was neat co conceptually.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

having like the ghost flame thing on his nose and like a separate

Joe:

little being with him, but then as soon as he stood up and sang into a

Joe:

microphone to like send a flame mm-hmm.

Joe:

, I was like, that was something I never wanted to see one.

Joe:

And, and it's a sick attack and it's very useful, but I was just

Joe:

like, ah, it had to grow on me.

Joe:

It had to grow on me a lot.

Joe:

Um, to the point where I, I actually had to take, take him on my team cuz I just

Joe:

didn't, I didn't like him very much, but even though at the very end I like

Joe:

very much needed a fire type and I just couldn't bring myself to put him back.

Sebastion:

Joe, are you saying that you took your starter off your main sixth?

Sebastion:

Like he wasn't like the elite four with you?

Sebastion:

He was,

Joe:

he was n he was not there for my Elite four.

Sebastion:

Oh, wow.

Sebastion:

Because like, I, I, it felt almost sacrilegious for me to take my, my

Sebastion:

starter off my team at that point.

Joe:

Oh, believe me, dude, I, I, like, I stayed up in my bed at night thinking

Joe:

about this, like, it was a hard decision.

Joe:

Like, like I told you, like with my experience with Pokemon and all the way

Joe:

through, like when I was a kid, I, I was the kid who would beat my head against the

Joe:

wall because I had my team, and my team was my team and, and, and I, I don't care.

Joe:

I'll just get stronger and I'll get through it.

Joe:

But he just, I wasn't as attached to him.

Joe:

Well, I'll tell you what it was, is I, I really wanted hair across on my team.

Joe:

Oh, yeah.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

and, and the allure, the allure of my tried true boy was, uh, was too strong.

Joe:

Um, and, and I used this game to try to allow myself to break out

Joe:

of my old molds a little bit.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

Let me ask you then, like, let's, let's dive into that.

Sebastion:

Do you remember who was on your team for your elite?

Sebastion:

For a run?

Sebastion:

Uh, for,

Joe:

for for Scarlet?

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

Um, yes.

Joe:

I mean, shoot, I could boot it up right now.

Joe:

Let's just see, uh,

Sebastion:

let me tell you, mom, while you're, bo yours

Sebastion:

up in, in checking it out.

Sebastion:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Sebastion:

I had, Kua Quavo, which is like the final version of, of Kackley.

Sebastion:

Like, I had him, he was my water fighting type.

Sebastion:

I had Dragonite the Dragon flying, um, Pokemon because he was the OG and he was

Sebastion:

like, and the original game Lance always used to like come at me with Dragonite.

Sebastion:

I kind of wanted to pay homage to that.

Sebastion:

Then I had Guo as like another, I don't know why I went to water types, but I,

Sebastion:

Guo was a OG and I just had to have him.

Sebastion:

And then, stupid of me to do this, but another dragon I had

Sebastion:

on my team was, um, guard chop.

Sebastion:

He was the purple dragon his ground and dragon type.

Sebastion:

And then I had Rrk nine, and then I had little Ra and RA was holding

Sebastion:

it down for my, my electric type.

Sebastion:

And those were like my six

Joe:

dude.

Joe:

I remember.

Joe:

Um, Near the end of the game, I saw, I found a, a Rache that was, uh, it,

Joe:

it had a tour internationalized type of like ground or something like that.

Joe:

And I, I was tempted to blame on my team

Joe:

Cause I was like, I was like, that's crazy.

Joe:

Um, okay.

Joe:

All right.

Joe:

Anyway, my team, I, oh, I might have switched up a little bit between

Joe:

the Elite four and like the after.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Cause like the after game presents like the Final Boss in

Sebastion:

this game is absolutely crazy.

Sebastion:

It's the most anime thing I've ever seen in Pokemon.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Like the games not, not, I had

Joe:

to think about that Cuz Sword and Shield was also

Joe:

pretty, pretty anime like mm-hmm.

Joe:

. I was like, yeah, this is an anime.

Joe:

I mean, sword and Shield was press A to go to the next part of this cut scene.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, like, it was like a, like, uh, it is, I hated it.

Joe:

Um, anyway, . Um, but yeah, no, it was pretty anime.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

Cause it was

Sebastion:

crazy though.

Sebastion:

Two.

Sebastion:

Yeah, for sure.

Sebastion:

You're fighting, like you're fighting a basic, a Android who, who wanted to go to

Sebastion:

the future, who's like, was the embodiment of another guy who like, uh, hi.

Sebastion:

Like a professor who decided to hell with this.

Sebastion:

I want a creator advice to bring Pokemon from the future over here.

Sebastion:

Right.

Sebastion:

And then he died in an accident and the Android decided to just

Sebastion:

continue living as him, basically.

Sebastion:

Oh, that's

Joe:

crazy.

Joe:

That's different than Scarlet.

Joe:

Oh, is it?

Joe:

I mean, the, the base of it.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, same thing is similar, but in Scarlet, um, it's, it's the, the female professor.

Joe:

Right.

Joe:

And.

Joe:

She is the mother of your like friend who you fight the titans with The

Joe:

guy trying to help out his dog.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

It's, it's the exact same thing.

Sebastion:

Just male female version then.

Sebastion:

Oh, okay.

Sebastion:

All right.

Joe:

Okay, then nevermind, nevermind, nevermind.

Joe:

Um, but, uh, but yeah.

Joe:

Uh, and then, and then the Android gets to, gets to go off

Joe:

and live the adventure, I guess.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

And then you have to fight the Android in the end, like the super Android basically.

Sebastion:

And the Android's Pokemon, like, yeah.

Sebastion:

I, I, I did hear from like other people that the Pokemon that you fight are

Sebastion:

different in Scarlet versus Violet.

Joe:

I have heard that as well.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. Um, but like I know that there's, cuz obviously there's certain game

Joe:

specific Pokemon that you can only get in some of them and things like that.

Sebastion:

Was that final balls

Joe:

fight hard for you?

Joe:

I did it twice.

Joe:

Okay.

Sebastion:

That's that's fair.

Sebastion:

That's fair.

Sebastion:

I think, I think I did it three times and yeah, it took me three times

Sebastion:

to figure out like a couple of the Pokemon's weaknesses because Yeah.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

We were fairly matched, I think like, I think all of his Pokemon

Sebastion:

were like 67, like level 67, and mine were around level 67 as well.

Sebastion:

So like, it was just a weakness thing.

Sebastion:

He kept, he had a Pokemon, a Dragon Android that would basically hit

Sebastion:

me with earthquake all the time.

Sebastion:

And I was just like, I would just get murdered by earthquake because most of

Sebastion:

my poke, yeah, most of my Pokemon were like flying or uh, or like electric fire.

Sebastion:

All of them were weak almost, except for one.

Sebastion:

Sure.

Joe:

So, so my team, at least that I ended with mm-hmm.

Joe:

. Was , I named them ice climbers.

Joe:

Uh, essentially . This was also the first game where I actually

Joe:

like, gave nicknames to Oh, really?

Joe:

To, to, to, to some of my people, some of my Pokemon, I shouldn't call them people.

Joe:

I, this is how I get attached . Um, they're Pokemon, they're not people.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. Um, but I named them ice climbers and I caught them very, very early.

Joe:

This is the, um, their first form is called, tandem mouse,

Joe:

the, the two little white mice.

Joe:

. Um, and, and then when they evolve, they become mouse hold.

Joe:

And there's two more mice that come often.

Joe:

Sometimes, I guess sometimes there's only one more mice that

Joe:

shows up, or one more mouse.

Joe:

Uh, and then there's three, but mine has four.

Joe:

So the ice climber's name no longer makes sense, but that's okay.

Sebastion:

I never saw this Pokemon by the way, like ever saw this Pokemon in

Sebastion:

my, my whole play through of the game.

Sebastion:

Basically.

Sebastion:

This is like a mouse version of Dige, so to speak, where it has digt has like two

Sebastion:

heads, or like one head and three heads.

Sebastion:

I

Joe:

understand.

Joe:

Uhhuh kind of.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

No, like it's legitimately like two separate bodies.

Joe:

Oh, just holding hands, basically.

Joe:

, yeah.

Joe:

Just holding hands and then, and then randomly, like all, every

Joe:

Pokemon has a little cut scene when they evolve and stuff.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

right.

Joe:

And one of my first major glitches was, I was so excited to see what this guy

Joe:

evolved into, and all of a sudden I just looked in my menu and he was different.

Joe:

And there were two more.

Joe:

And I was like, what?

Joe:

What I, he evolved and I like didn't, I didn't get to see the cut scene.

Joe:

Oh.

Joe:

I felt, dude, I felt so cheated.

Joe:

But then like weeks went by and Jacob told me, he was like, no, no, no, no.

Joe:

That's just like the way that Pokemon works.

Joe:

Like it's just when it has enough like love or whatever it like more of

Joe:

the mice just like show up and become a part of their family basically.

Joe:

What?

Joe:

That's so

Sebastion:

crazy.

Joe:

Like, essentially, like that's more or less like what it is.

Joe:

Uh, and I was like, that's nuts.

Joe:

And he is like, but yours has four.

Joe:

And I was like, yeah.

Joe:

And he's like, oh, I haven't seen any that didn't, they were all just three.

Joe:

And I was like, Ooh, I'm special.

Joe:

Uh, but anyway, you gave him too

Sebastion:

much love.

Joe:

I gave him too.

Joe:

Listen, I, I call him people, man.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, um, we're attached.

Joe:

Um, but that little dude stayed on my team pretty much the entire game.

Joe:

He, he was great.

Joe:

As soon as he learned, um, play Rough and Super Fang, it was game over.

Joe:

Like he was, uh, like unstoppable, forced, especially to like start

Joe:

every, that battle with it was

Sebastion:

mm-hmm.

Sebastion:

So good.

Sebastion:

Um, so lemme ask you, is this like the ratta of, of Violet,

Sebastion:

basically vi like Violet and Scarlet, you know, the normal rat

Joe:

type basically.

Joe:

, I know what you're saying.

Joe:

Um, no.

Joe:

Because there was like a rat dude

Sebastion:

I think.

Sebastion:

Is there a rat, a ratta equivalent in

Joe:

actually, I mean you might be right cuz he learns like super fang and

Sebastion:

like hyper fang and that, that's what made me think of it because

Sebastion:

like, yeah, that's the only other Pokemon I remember with like basically, but

Sebastion:

like that move set so, so much better.

Sebastion:

like had to be cuz rat is like,

Joe:

you know, like so much better.

Joe:

Like eradicate can have some crazy moves.

Joe:

And I do remember having eradicate on my team at one point, uh, grow,

Joe:

like playing up, uh, when growing up in one of my playthroughs.

Joe:

Um, but, but I, yeah, no mouse hold so much better cuz that,

Joe:

that just because of that one play rough dude, that fairy type move.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, goated G Absolutely amazing.

Joe:

A any, any dragon type coming up?

Sebastion:

what, what's the rest of your team like?

Joe:

Rest of my team following up after that, this guy,

Joe:

um, I think came onto my team after the Elite four, but I didn't, oh yeah.

Joe:

Through the Elite four.

Joe:

I had the New Rock, dude, the salt.

Joe:

Uh, guy, uh mm-hmm.

Joe:

, Gargan, Garganto, you know what I'm talking about?

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, the, the, the giant dude and he's like a salt Pokemon and all of his

Joe:

names have N A C L because that's the chemical symbol for salt.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

I didn't, I didn't realize that.

Sebastion:

That's, that's

Joe:

funny.

Joe:

Um, it's, it's great.

Joe:

I, I was, I was streaming and somebody in my chat pointed that out and I

Joe:

immediately, cuz I was talking so much shit on this Pokemon mm-hmm.

Joe:

, I was like, look at this Super Mario mushroom level up looking thing.

Joe:

Uh, and then they're like, dude, it's n a c l, like salt.

Joe:

And I was like, completely opinion changed.

Joe:

I was like, this guy is on my, and he was on my team through like the entire

Joe:

time through the Elite four, but I switched him out for, uh, I, I put

Joe:

in the work in the end game to train from level one, basically all the way

Joe:

up or like level eight or whatever.

Joe:

I caught him at.

Joe:

I got a Tyran guitar on my team.

Sebastion:

Oh, that's badass.

Sebastion:

And my guy,

Joe:

my guy put in war guy.

Joe:

I tell you what, I love that guy.

Joe:

. That

Sebastion:

guy is so good that that's the ground Pokemon

Sebastion:

towards the end of the game.

Sebastion:

That was just using earthquake basically.

Sebastion:

And destroying my team at the end.

Sebastion:

Boss, by the

Joe:

way.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

G guess what give a moose set is I got hyper beam, I got iron defense,

Joe:

I got stone edge and earthquake.

Joe:

Yeah, you're set.

Joe:

Oh, he, he was, he was goated.

Joe:

Uh, after him, uh, I replaced my Myke Durge.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. The, the final evolution Foy Coco, with a Toco.

Joe:

I remember having a Toco on my team at one point when I was like playing

Joe:

through Sapphire or, or Emerald or whichever one my cousin let me borrow.

Joe:

My final team, I think I have like three, I used to have a Bliss.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, dude that incredibly high.

Joe:

Hp and then she knew, uh, iron Defense two or no, she, I had her nose sing.

Joe:

So I'd put the person to sleep and then I would do defense curl and I

Joe:

would just create, oh, no monster.

Joe:

Oh no dude.

Joe:

It was such a hard decision to take her off my team, but I

Joe:

replaced her with a Gar chomp.

Joe:

Oh, that's

Sebastion:

a Good move.

Sebastion:

Good

Joe:

move.

Joe:

And a gar chomp I wasn't expecting, but I don't know why I didn't try

Joe:

going up to the top of the edge of the crater until like, near the end of

Joe:

the game, but I just like didn't try.

Joe:

But then once I did, I was like, oh, there's Gar Chop up here.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. I was like, oh, well lemme catch one of these.

Joe:

Um, and and he put in some work too.

Joe:

He knows Dig.

Joe:

And then I, I gave him Dragon Claw Crunch and he knows slash but the

Joe:

Dragon Claw and dig, dude, uh, he, you

Sebastion:

are Shin Me, you're, you're Guard help and by guard Trump have

Sebastion:

the exact same move set, like to the T

Joe:

Let's go.

Joe:

We're just kindred spirits, man.

Joe:

We're two sides of one coin.

Joe:

Oh, for sure.

Joe:

Um, , I should have grown up in Texas, I guess.

Joe:

I don't know.

Joe:

Oh yeah, for sure.

Joe:

Uh, um, and then after him, I, I got a dragonite on my team.

Joe:

Let's go , let's go.

Joe:

And, and Dragonite put in work.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, you know, just the flying ability alone was so goaded and, uh, I, he

Joe:

knew, he knows, uh, I caught, I caught him as a dragon drag tv, dragon Air.

Joe:

Oh, dragon Air.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. I caught him as a dragon Air and he knew, uh, Thunderbolt.

Sebastion:

Oh, that's already Goated.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

Uh, cuz I, I don't know, but I'm pretty sure that's like not in the move.

Sebastion:

I think he learns, he learns it, I think at 55.

Sebastion:

And by that time, by that time, he turns into Dragon Night though, right?

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

So, so, so he, he knew Thunderbolt.

Joe:

So, so I had the Dragonite with Dragon Dance, Thunderbolt Aqua Tail,

Joe:

and, uh, and Dragon Claw and oh, he obliterated, he obliterated my guys stats.

Joe:

Man, if you were looking at this chart right now, oof, ooh, it's, it's coated.

Joe:

Um, and then rounding out the bottom of my team, this was a spot that kind

Joe:

of had a little bit of a rotating door.

Joe:

I couldn't decide who I was really going with, but I kept coming

Joe:

back to my boy hair across mm-hmm.

Joe:

and, and he's just kicking butt with he knows Throat chop, which

Joe:

is like surprisingly handy because a lot of Pokemon in this game

Joe:

have like vocal type moves mm-hmm.

Joe:

. And so you, you start out, out the gate with that and then like, , A

Joe:

lot of times it's just whatever move they chose is doesn't happen.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, because it, it, it, it cuts that off.

Joe:

Uh, and then he knows Sword Dance and Mega Horn, uh, and that, that,

Joe:

that super strong bug type move came in handy in the end too.

Joe:

Um, but, uh, that was, that, that is my final team.

Joe:

That's dope.

Sebastion:

So let me ask you what did you think about the three branching stories?

Sebastion:

Because this game had the, the Titans that you fight, the gyms, the gym slash

Sebastion:

the Elite four and the team Star bases.

Joe:

I liked it out the gate, honestly.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. Um, I was skeptical, uh, before I tried one of each at least.

Joe:

Um, cuz I was like, oh, what is this gonna be?

Joe:

Uh, and uh, and it was, it was great.

Joe:

I had fun with all of 'em.

Joe:

Um, it took me one or two GOs throughs of the team star bases where my dudes

Joe:

are walking around and just like, yeah.

Joe:

Throwing them out.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. Um, but I learned to like that it was fun just in a different way.

Joe:

Um, . It was fun to just like sit back and watch my Pokemon just demolish . Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, um, . But you know, it kind of gave me like a superiority complex,

Joe:

like , like it was just like, yes.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

burn.

Joe:

Uh,

Sebastion:

but like you were raid a village, so to speak, basically.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

No, it kind of felt like that.

Joe:

Like, uh, we were entering their gates and just like defeating the hoards.

Joe:

no one survived.

Joe:

Uh, you know, very much felt like Anakin.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, um, with the young wings.

Joe:

. I was thinking more so the sand people, but Yeah.

Joe:

But uh, you know, going into the can

Sebastion:

that is so dark.

Sebastion:

Why did my buy go to the youngling?

Sebastion:

Your went to, yours went to the sand people.

Sebastion:

At least

Joe:

the same.

Joe:

I mean, it's really not much different.

Joe:

There were young sand people there too.

Joe:

Yeah, that's true.

Joe:

Uh, anyway.

Joe:

Um, know I liked it.

Sebastion:

I liked it.

Sebastion:

I, I like aspects of it.

Sebastion:

I really like the team star other than the, some of the backs stories kind

Sebastion:

of felt a little long winded there.

Sebastion:

But I liked like you said, rating basely each one of the bases and

Sebastion:

that the bases were different types.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

I really enjoyed that aspect.

Sebastion:

What I did not like though, and probably one of my most hated parts

Sebastion:

of this game, other than the game's overall performance, is the gyms.

Sebastion:

And the reason why I hated those gyms is because each gym made you

Sebastion:

do the most bullshittery thing I've ever seen in a Pokemon game.

Sebastion:

And that's basically make you do like mini game to prove that you are

Sebastion:

worthy of like, fighting that count.

Sebastion:

Right.

Sebastion:

and none of those mini games felt fun to me.

Sebastion:

one of 'em, I think this was like maybe the bug lady who was like, Hey,

Sebastion:

I want you to go out in the middle of town and basically like roll

Sebastion:

a ball into like the square zone.

Sebastion:

And I'm like, why am I doing this?

Sebastion:

Like, what?

Sebastion:

can't I just fight like three of your flunkies and get on with my life?

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Right?

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. Oh yeah, no, I see what you're saying.

Joe:

I, I enjoyed it because I at least was ex I was expecting it.

Joe:

Um, like I, I played Pokemon White mm-hmm.

Joe:

, and, and that was, I think gen three is when they like started

Joe:

introducing a little bit more of.

Joe:

The mini games challenging, like, uh, or like, they kind of made the

Joe:

gyms kind of mazes, kind of mm-hmm.

Joe:

at like elementary.

Joe:

Um, and then I, you know, took a break, came back Pokemon Wyatt.

Joe:

I was like, what is this?

Joe:

And like the maze going up to the gym leader and stuff was up to a whole

Joe:

new level and it was a whole thing.

Joe:

Um, and I, I would take these sort of mini games of things over

Joe:

that, like any day, honestly.

Joe:

Um, and, and it was, I, I enjoyed the creativity of some of them.

Joe:

Um, and I also liked the bug one though because I remember stumbling upon like

Joe:

the basically soccer court mm-hmm.

Joe:

with the giant bean or the olive.

Joe:

Um, and I remember being like, cuz I saw that before I went to the gym.

Joe:

Oh really?

Joe:

And I was like stumbled upon it and I was like, dude, this is so cool.

Joe:

, they just like implanted random things for us to discover so that

Joe:

then if I bring a buddy in tomorrow, can play against each other.

Joe:

We can like, just like play soccer, like, and there's no like a score

Joe:

counter or anything, but like mm-hmm.

Joe:

we know . Mm-hmm.

Joe:

and like, and I, I just remember having like this, the, like that

Joe:

was my first experience with it.

Joe:

So then when the gym came through, it was like, this is what you're doing.

Joe:

I was like, oh, well, yeah, I guess that soccer field makes more sense now.

Joe:

But, um, yeah, that one was a little whack, but that was also probably

Joe:

the worst one out of all of them.

Sebastion:

I don't know, man.

Sebastion:

There was one where you had to get like the recipe ingredients for

Sebastion:

like, um, where like you had to figure out what was the, basically

Sebastion:

the perfect, um, the perfect order.

Sebastion:

Oh, where

Joe:

you're running around the town.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

And you're trying to like pick up on who's talking and what.

Joe:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

That one was pretty rough.

Joe:

That one took me a little while.

Joe:

Then

Sebastion:

there was a, the one where you had to like, like roll down hill,

Sebastion:

basically use your Pokemon and kind of like roll down hill and so to speak.

Sebastion:

Oh, the snow.

Sebastion:

Yeah, the snow, yeah.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

You had to snow snowboard down the hill.

Sebastion:

And which would've been fun if this game performance wasn't

Sebastion:

like janky to begin with.

Sebastion:

So like yeah, that was one of the points where my game was legitimately

Sebastion:

stuttering and like I was, oh shoot.

Sebastion:

I thought it was just gonna break on me because like I was

Sebastion:

rolling down the heel and the game already runs at 15 FPSs basically.

Sebastion:

So like it does, it's not that

Joe:

bad sometimes.

Joe:

Sometimes it

Sebastion:

is , it runs like old serpent IHOP, so to speak,

Sebastion:

where it's just very slow.

Sebastion:

Very slow and very methodical.

Sebastion:

And that's one of the games where I, like I saw the frame race just

Sebastion:

drop and it just took a, it started like chugging and your nose dive.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

And I was rolling down the hill and.

Sebastion:

and I was just like, it was hard to react really fast because like by the

Sebastion:

time the game caught up to some of the, my movement inputs, I was already on

Sebastion:

the, like, the other, like it would overcompensate and I was on the other

Sebastion:

side of like, where I was intending to go.

Sebastion:

So it was rough.

Sebastion:

Nice.

Sebastion:

It was rough.

Sebastion:

I, I still managed to get that one done and like, I think the first

Sebastion:

try, but I didn't, I didn't enjoy any of the mini games, so to speak.

Sebastion:

I was just sure I was like, I was ready to just get on with a boss battle.

Sebastion:

Like, yeah, let me get there or at least let me fight some

Sebastion:

flunkies and then get there.

Joe:

You know, it probably would've been less fun for me

Joe:

if I was just doing it alone.

Joe:

I, at least through a lot of the beginning of the game, I was streaming it mm-hmm.

Joe:

and so that anytime something unique happens on stream, it's just

Joe:

like, oh, let's play into this.

Joe:

So that probably warped my sense of some of those things.

Joe:

Maybe a little bit.

Joe:

Um, that's fun.

Joe:

. Yeah.

Joe:

I did this all by myself.

Joe:

That's asterisk.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

That is an asterisk I should put on that note then too.

Joe:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

So, final couple questions about Pokemon.

Sebastion:

do you have any gripes with the game overall or anything you'd like

Sebastion:

to see improved in, like in Gent?

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Joe:

The beginning, it took way too long to get started.

Joe:

Oh,

Sebastion:

amen.

Sebastion:

To that.

Joe:

It was like literally five or six hours before I actually like,

Joe:

felt like I was playing the game.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, uh, the tutorial and just the story start was

Sebastion:

way too long.

Sebastion:

Oh, for sure.

Joe:

for sure.

Joe:

And, and it just didn't have to be like, you could have done it so much quicker.

Joe:

Now, I,

Sebastion:

I think, uh, like Pokemon is taking a step forward with this

Sebastion:

like generation, but I think one of the criticisms they could take from this

Sebastion:

game, from a lot of people's input would be like, there needs to be an option

Sebastion:

where you could just skip the tutorial.

Sebastion:

Especially like there should be.

Sebastion:

, A lot of games ask you right off the jump where they say like, Hey, have

Sebastion:

you played a Pokemon game before?

Sebastion:

Or like, Hey, have you played one of our previous games before?

Sebastion:

Yes.

Sebastion:

If yes, skip tutorial.

Sebastion:

And then this should be one of those games to where like, okay.

Sebastion:

Uh, besides maybe whatever the theme is gonna be, whether it

Sebastion:

be like terror, uh, what is it like, um, crystallizing or Terror?

Sebastion:

Terror.

Sebastion:

Crystalling.

Sebastion:

Tarras.

Sebastion:

Tarra colonizing.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

What, what whatever the was Tarra.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Like, and Sword of Shield.

Sebastion:

I think it was like, you know, turning the Pokemon gigantic

Sebastion:

was the theme in that one.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

The,

Joe:

the gigantic max.

Joe:

Yeah, there, uh, there's two versions.

Joe:

I, it's, don't, don't ask me, man.

Joe:

I didn't like

Sebastion:

it.

Sebastion:

I didn't either.

Sebastion:

So whatever the version is, like skip, like the tutorials should skip

Sebastion:

all the way until you have to do your first battle with that theme, and then

Sebastion:

it can introduce that theme to you.

Sebastion:

And then the rest of it, it'll be like, Hey, like you've

Sebastion:

played a Pokemon game before.

Sebastion:

Skip the rest of that tutorial.

Sebastion:

Let's here's the open world.

Sebastion:

Have fun.

Sebastion:

Because like, like you said, six hours is egregious to be just

Sebastion:

locked into, into a tutorial.

Sebastion:

Oh, it was insane.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

It's bad.

Joe:

I did, I did a whole streaming session.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

and j uh, like finish the tutorial and I was like, I guys we're gonna stop today.

Joe:

I didn't realize this was like, I , this sucks.

Joe:

I'm sorry.

Joe:

I have a whole video on my YouTube channel now.

Joe:

That's like a five or six hour session that's like Yeah.

Joe:

It's all tutorial.

Joe:

Yes.

Joe:

And, and it blew my mind.

Joe:

Yeah, it blew my mind.

Sebastion:

It is absolutely terrible.

Sebastion:

It is absolutely terrible.

Sebastion:

So any other gripes or criticisms about this one?

Joe:

Um, the existence of Flamingo.

Sebastion:

Just the Pokemon in general.

Sebastion:

? Yeah.

Sebastion:

What in Flamingo do you Dude,

Joe:

that's a flamingo.

Joe:

. It's a flamingo with its neck and a knot.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, like, that's just an animal.

Joe:

Like, and I know there's criticisms through all Pokemon generations

Joe:

of this, but like, I saw that on screen and I read its name and for

Joe:

the first night of my living on this earth knowing that it existed, I

Joe:

thought its name was just Flamingo.

Joe:

Oh, I did too.

Joe:

Like, I didn't, I didn't realize that it had a missing letter.

Joe:

. Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. Right.

Joe:

And I just, I was like, that's.

Joe:

Actually insane.

Joe:

They just put a flamingo in the game.

Joe:

Uh, yeah.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

I, it should not be a thing and should not be as strong as it is.

Joe:

Tab boot . That's, that's, that's, it's just, if you wanna make

Joe:

me more upset about a shitty design, make it a strong Pokemon

Joe:

Like that's, that's, that's just infuriating.

Joe:

Uh, yeah.

Joe:

That would be another big gripe there.

Joe:

Um, you know,

Sebastion:

what's one that got mean now that you mentioned like, specific Pokemon?

Sebastion:

The Pokemon that are very small, like the ones that are like very tiny.

Sebastion:

I hate those because like, I think they're items sometimes.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

Dude, I saw, especially early game, but even near the end of the game, I was still

Joe:

running into this tiny little dude mm-hmm.

Joe:

, and I was like, why?

Joe:

There's a, uh, it's like called, it's called Flit.

Joe:

It looks like a mushroom.

Joe:

Yeah, it's like a floating mushroom.

Joe:

Like I think it's a fairy type.

Joe:

I don't know.

Joe:

Uh, I never caught it because it pissed me off so much.

Joe:

But I was like, dude, literally, cuz I remember I was starting the game and I

Joe:

was just going through and I was like, you know, I'm trying to decide and I'm

Joe:

streaming and I'm talking and I'm like, I'm trying to decide if I'm gonna be

Joe:

upset about no more random encounters.

Joe:

And then I would randomly run into this little dude just

Joe:

cuz I didn't see him mm-hmm.

Joe:

And I was like, you know what?

Joe:

Don't

Sebastion:

miss it at all.

Sebastion:

I'm not

Joe:

missing it at all because I mean like, I'm getting it.

Joe:

Uh, and I think there I was immediately reminded of like one of

Joe:

my favorite Game Boy or Game Boy.

Joe:

One of my favorite Nintendo DS games, uh, was a game called,

Joe:

um, dragon Quest Monsters.

Joe:

. Okay.

Joe:

Okay.

Joe:

And it's basically, uh, it's basically scarlet and violet, but it's with

Joe:

dragon quests, like bad guys.

Joe:

Um, so there's like the slime and there's like, you know, all those

Joe:

other monsters and things mm-hmm.

Joe:

, uh, that are just roaming around on this open world.

Joe:

And if you see one in the distance that you've never seen before and you

Joe:

thought was crazy cool, like big and strong, you'd like run and sprint and

Joe:

try and get in contact with this monster.

Joe:

Until like, in that game, at least the monsters were kind of on a timer.

Joe:

So if you didn't get to 'em in time, they kind of disappeared.

Joe:

Oh no.

Joe:

Uh, so it, so it was like, so it was like, you, you, like, you saw them in

Joe:

the open world, you were like, oh God.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. Um, and there was a little bit of that in this game, or there was a

Joe:

lot of, bit of that in this game.

Joe:

Uh, and that really sold me cuz that I, I have so much fun with that game.

Joe:

And if anybody knows Dragon Quest monsters, . That

Joe:

was, that was a sick game.

Joe:

. Sebastion: Yeah.

Joe:

I, yeah.

Joe:

Between those little baby, like small Pokemon to where

Joe:

like, I can run into them.

Joe:

Think or think they were like one of the sparkled items in the world.

Joe:

Uh, like I hated that.

Joe:

Absolutely hated that.

Joe:

Sure.

Joe:

But another criticism I have of this game is like the fact.

Joe:

. I feel like if there are areas you don't want me to go into, just wall those off.

Joe:

Like I, I know some people hate that invisible wall thing they do in video

Joe:

games where like, oh yeah, it makes you, it makes you think you can go somewhere,

Joe:

but you run into like a visible wall where you clearly aren't meant to go there.

Joe:

I'd rather have that invisible wall than like, like almost like run into areas to

Joe:

where like the game would basically say, oh no, you, you've, you've gone too far.

Joe:

Or like, oh, you're not supposed to be in this area yet, so we're

Joe:

going to basically like send you to a loading screen and then kick you

Joe:

back to where you were beforehand.

Joe:

Because like this game has some bad load screens sometimes to where like they

Joe:

take like 30 to 30 seconds to 45 seconds and I'm like, just wall that area off

Joe:

for right now, because I'm like, are you

Joe:

talking about like accidentally entering one of the team's star camps?

Sebastion:

Not from the front.

Sebastion:

Exactly.

Sebastion:

Like the, one of the teams not from the front or maybe like area

Sebastion:

zero or like, or maybe right.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Joe:

And it would take like three whole minutes of you gliding down

Joe:

before it would shoot you back.

Joe:

Exactly.

Joe:

Like, how far am I going to fall into this fog before it shoots me back?

Joe:

Like, you know, like the famous one is like Nintendo

Joe:

64 wave racer with the mm-hmm.

Joe:

with the, with the jet skis and stuff.

Joe:

Like, you go out of bounds on the race and it like, like cannon

Joe:

fires you back like immediately.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, um, they could have done something like that I think.

Joe:

Oh.

Joe:

Especially with era, area zero.

Joe:

Like it would've been cool if like you're gliding down and like you hear a roar

Joe:

and like the shockwave of the roar or something is what sends you back in a way.

Joe:

Or like, yeah.

Joe:

I don't know.

Joe:

Um,

Sebastion:

but yeah, like high winds or something to where like Yeah.

Sebastion:

Where it

Joe:

pushes you back up, do some wind waker.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, do some legend Zelda, wind waker stuff and just be like, I can't enter it.

Joe:

There's a wind blowing me back that.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. That's a good idea.

Joe:

Easy money.

Joe:

I didn't even money.

Joe:

Think about that.

Joe:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Other than I think, like we were saying earlier,

Sebastion:

this is a damn fine game.

Sebastion:

if it ran better and if it didn't have these technological flaws with this,

Sebastion:

like this would be a contender for Game of the year for a lot of people.

Sebastion:

Like if it Oh yeah.

Sebastion:

If it didn't have those kind of like, hiccups.

Sebastion:

But as it stands right now, it's still the most fun I've had

Sebastion:

with Pokemon in almost 20 years.

Joe:

Yes.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

Which is crazy to say in spite of all that.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. It's just fun.

Joe:

Like, and, and, and I will say it's not nearly like, it's difficult or at

Joe:

least like the way I, it's challenging.

Joe:

Chose mm-hmm.

Joe:

the way I, the way I chose to go.

Joe:

Uh, you know, there's kind of a dedicated path that you kind of realize as you go.

Joe:

Like some gyms are easier than others.

Joe:

, but it doesn't tell you which one is gonna be which.

Joe:

No.

Joe:

So so you just, so the, when I was going through, I was like, dude, I'm dying.

Joe:

Like a lot, like my whole team was getting wiped out and I was like, dude, all right.

Joe:

Like, this hasn't happened in a long time.

Joe:

It definitely never happened in Sword and Shield.

Joe:

Oh no.

Joe:

I mowed the, the Sword and Shield.

Joe:

It was like, yeah.

Joe:

Uh, so it was just enough, like even as an adult I could be

Joe:

like, this is challenging enough.

Joe:

Like it's still very, like I wasn't sweating.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, like, don't get me wrong, but it was challenging enough to make it engaging.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

Uh, and, and, and like you said, I think that this is a beautiful stepping

Joe:

stone and I think whatever the second iteration of this new Pokemon format,

Joe:

whatever they do provided they don't drop the ball on some crazy story

Joe:

or something like that, like, , the next version of Pokemon is gonna be

Sebastion:

great.

Sebastion:

Joe, do you have any last thoughts about Pokemon before we move on

Sebastion:

to our last segment of the show?

Joe:

I think, I think I'm satisfied.

Sebastion:

All right.

Sebastion:

All right.

Sebastion:

Just like snore likes after a big meal, Joe is satisfied.

Sebastion:

So wish,

Joe:

I wish I was

Sebastion:

Snor likes in this game.

Sebastion:

. I do too.

Sebastion:

I I missed him.

Sebastion:

That was great.

Sebastion:

so Joe, we've now reached our segment of the show called Are You a Pro Nerd?

Sebastion:

Basically, it's.

Sebastion:

It is our trivia portion of the show where we ask the guest five different

Sebastion:

questions based on the Wheel of Destiny.

Sebastion:

The wheel will land on different topics, and each topic is a different question.

Sebastion:

You get five questions and if you get all five you've earned the title of Pro nerd.

Sebastion:

So far.

Sebastion:

one person has earned the title of Pro Nerd.

Sebastion:

We've had a lot of ties with three questions.

Joe:

So, so you've only had one person go five for five?

Joe:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

I've only had one person go five for five.

Sebastion:

Oh, everyone else has the, the next runner up is like a tie between a lot

Sebastion:

of people at three questions and then it just trickles down from there.

Sebastion:

Sure.

Sebastion:

So lots of people are

Joe:

average out here.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Yeah, yeah.

Sebastion:

I think it's, it's because they're so diverse, like the categories.

Sebastion:

Well,

Joe:

all right.

Joe:

I'm trying not to get psyched out.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

Hit me with it when you're ready.

Joe:

All right.

Joe:

Alright.

Joe:

Right.

Joe:

So, Joe,

Sebastion:

It is time.

Sebastion:

I think you got this though.

Sebastion:

I have a feeling you're going to like channel and go super sand and

Sebastion:

absolutely mow down these questions.

Sebastion:

So, ready?

Sebastion:

All right.

Sebastion:

So the first question, the wheel has landed on Star Wars.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

You seem pretty confident.

Sebastion:

I like that.

Sebastion:

I like that there's, there's

Joe:

possibilities.

Sebastion:

All right.

Sebastion:

So in the realm of Star Wars,

Sebastion:

who was Ana and Skywalker's?

Sebastion:

Pad one?

Joe:

Oh, um, sh a Soca.

Joe:

You got the first one.

Joe:

Okay.

Joe:

Alright.

Joe:

Okay.

Joe:

All right.

Joe:

. All right.

Joe:

I'm not gonna lie, I like had it on my to at the beginning and then I paused

Joe:

and I lost it, and I was like, oh, no.

Joe:

, . Sebastion: You gotta, you gotta go out.

Joe:

Go with your gut like immediately.

Joe:

Okay?

Joe:

Yep, you're right.

Joe:

Okay.

Joe:

All right.

Joe:

Number two, hit me, hit

Sebastion:

me, hit me.

Sebastion:

Hit me.

Sebastion:

All right.

Sebastion:

So the wheel has officially landed on Lord of the Rings.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

So you're confident.

Sebastion:

I like that.

Joe:

Listen, I got a silver meridian on my bookshelf

Sebastion:

right in front of me.

Sebastion:

Oh my goodness.

Sebastion:

very confident.

Sebastion:

I like that.

Sebastion:

Oh yeah.

Sebastion:

I like that

Joe:

I have not finished it, but I have it . It's such a hard read, dude.

Joe:

Anyway, alright,

Sebastion:

so what is the name of the mountain where the master ring was made?

Sebastion:

Where it was made?

Sebastion:

Yes.

Sebastion:

What is the name of the mountain where the master ring was

Joe:

made?

Joe:

Well, it was, it needed to be destroyed where it was made.

Joe:

Right.

Joe:

So it was, it was Mount Doom.

Sebastion:

Is that your final answer?

Sebastion:

Yes.

Sebastion:

You got it correct.

Sebastion:

. Joe: You got it.

Sebastion:

Ok.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

Oh, geez.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

All right.

Sebastion:

You made me, you made me nervous later, . I was like, I thought

Sebastion:

that was the whole thing.

Sebastion:

I was, I was like,

Sebastion:

yeah.

Sebastion:

You're killing it so far.

Sebastion:

Two for two.

Sebastion:

This is a really good sign.

Sebastion:

I like it.

Sebastion:

I like it.

Sebastion:

All right.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Joe:

Okay.

Joe:

Okay.

Sebastion:

Some in the realm of anime.

Sebastion:

Yes.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

This one, you should be pretty familiar with

Joe:

this.

Joe:

We'll see, there's, there's so much Dude,

Joe:

. Sebastion: There really is.

Joe:

There really is.

Joe:

Hopefully this is an anime you're familiar with in the realm of anime.

Joe:

Who was Spike Siegel's Neme.

Joe:

No,

Sebastion:

no.

Sebastion:

Repeating the question in the realm of anime, who was Spike Singles?

Sebastion:

Nemesis.

Joe:

I've never finished that show.

Joe:

. I've seen the first episode.

Joe:

What, like three different times.

Joe:

I've never finished that show.

Joe:

I'll

Sebastion:

be rude with you.

Sebastion:

Like, this to me is probably the greatest enemy of all time.

Sebastion:

I

Joe:

know.

Joe:

And everybody says that, dude.

Joe:

And, and I've seen like, clips of combat and stuff and I, I, it's, it's phenomenal.

Joe:

And I love semi shampoo and I know it's the same studio and everything.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

like I, I, I just.

Joe:

and, and the first episode is phenomenal.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

, like, like, I, I can't give you a good reason for why I have not continued,

Sebastion:

uh, this question alone just makes me wanna go back

Sebastion:

and watch the show like it is.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Joe:

Is that good?

Joe:

I know that it's like a whole thing, , it's like a big lead up

Joe:

to who it is and like all this I, I, I, I don't know though.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

Unfortunately, he is tapping out.

Sebastion:

Oh, he was on a roll too, man.

Sebastion:

I, you know, that.

Sebastion:

I feel like

Joe:

that.

Joe:

I can't believe that's the one anime dude, that's insane.

Joe:

Jacob's listening to this and losing his mind cuz he is in the same boat.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

Jacob's in the same boat.

Joe:

Dude, we're both gonna go watch this show like right now.

Sebastion:

Oh man.

Sebastion:

The answer is, by the way, vicious is his name.

Sebastion:

The character's name is Vicious.

Sebastion:

I had no

Joe:

idea.

Joe:

I would've never in a million years . I think he has gray hair.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. Okay.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

That's like the only I, but I know.

Sebastion:

Go back and watch.

Sebastion:

Go watch Cowboy Bbo.

Sebastion:

Do yourself a favor and watch Cowboy Bbo after you watch Blue Lock.

Sebastion:

Cuz Blue Rock Lock is an anime you need to watch right now too.

Joe:

Ethan.

Joe:

Ethan.

Joe:

Put that on our tournament for best animes of 2022.

Sebastion:

It's damn good.

Sebastion:

It is.

Joe:

We had a whole talk about it anyway.

Joe:

All right.

Sebastion:

In the realm of the M C U, the Marvel Cinematic universe, I'm just so

Sebastion:

defeated that, that one question just hit

Joe:

your heart, huh?

Joe:

Keep , keep going, keep going.

Joe:

All right.

Joe:

So

Sebastion:

what is the Vulture's real name in the movie?

Sebastion:

Spider-Man.

Sebastion:

Homecoming.

Sebastion:

Oh,

Joe:

smile.

Joe:

No know.

Sebastion:

Um, how familiar are you with the M C U?

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

Homecoming.

Joe:

So that's one of the new ones with, with Tom Holland?

Joe:

Yes, it is.

Joe:

Dude, can I just, I'll only say this because I know I'm terrible with tangents,

Joe:

but like, I'm kind of an, I, I, I, I enjoy and I'm simultaneously annoyed

Joe:

that they all have home in the title.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. Cause it makes me, it's very difficult for me to remember which

Joe:

one is which, . Cause they're like, they're not different enough.

Joe:

I mean, anyway,

Sebastion:

I don't know.

Sebastion:

So the answer, by the way, the question, what is Vulture's real name in Spider-Man?

Sebastion:

Homecoming.

Sebastion:

It is Adrian Tombs.

Joe:

I would've never gotten that . I lo I, he is my favorite Spider-Man,

Joe:

though, Tom Holland's phenomenal.

Joe:

I just, oh, same here.

Joe:

Saw, I just saw No Way Home for the first time, just like a couple weeks ago.

Joe:

Where

Sebastion:

were you?

Sebastion:

Where, what have you been?

Joe:

I was finishing my degree . I was, I was, I was busy

Joe:

Anyway, yeah, I, yeah, it took me a long time to watch it.

Joe:

It is a phenomenal movie.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. Anyway.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

Uh, yeah.

Joe:

I have to try to be average now.

Joe:

. Sebastion: Yep.

Joe:

You're shooting, you're shooting for the top.

Joe:

And you know, with three questions.

Joe:

Yeah.

Joe:

Uhhuh, . So we reached our fifth question.

Joe:

Um, you know, in the fifth spot, I usually let the guest decide, you know, whether

Joe:

or not they want option A or option B, the red pill or the blue pill, so to speak.

Joe:

Which option would you like to go with?

Joe:

Let's go B because

Sebastion:

it's best.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

All right, so option B is the realm of Nintendo.

Sebastion:

Sick.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

All right.

Sebastion:

Good.

Sebastion:

So, I like the confidence.

Sebastion:

All right.

Sebastion:

So in the realm of Nintendo, How much is a red Ruy worth in the

Sebastion:

legend of Zelda Wind Waker 20.

Sebastion:

Damn.

Sebastion:

You got that real quick

Sebastion:

That is the correct answer.

Sebastion:

Hell yeah,

Joe:

baby.

Joe:

That is the hell yeah.

Joe:

Correct answer.

Joe:

Lizard Zelda's my favorite.

Joe:

Zelda Zelda is my favorite.

Joe:

I'm

Sebastion:

done on that.

Sebastion:

It's crazy how fast you

Joe:

got that.

Joe:

Oh dude.

Joe:

You want to hit me with more Nintendo shit?

Joe:

. Oh my, this is my jam.

Joe:

I got you, man.

Joe:

Uh,

Sebastion:

alright, I'm gonna refresh, I'm gonna refresh the,

Sebastion:

the Nintendo thing and we, and see what, like random, oh, do I get

Joe:

a bonus question because I went so quick?

Sebastion:

Yeah, I, I'm just so curious like, Like how quickly you

Sebastion:

get the, another Nintendo question.

Sebastion:

If I hit like refreshed.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

Well, well now I have, like,

Joe:

now I gotta meet the standard out.

Joe:

No, no,

Sebastion:

it's all good.

Sebastion:

Expectations are high.

Sebastion:

It's all good.

Sebastion:

So like, okay, so the question that popped up is, how many shrines

Sebastion:

are there in the Legend of Zelda?

Sebastion:

Breath of the wild.

Joe:

Ooh, ooh.

Joe:

Um, before or after D l C

Sebastion:

I think they're, I think they're just referring to before.

Sebastion:

D L C.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

Shoot,

Joe:

I don't know.

Joe:

It's either, it's either like 58 or like 82 I want to say.

Joe:

Um, mm.

Joe:

I'm trying to like, visualize the map in my head and like, think about

Joe:

just like approximately how many dots there were , um, There's like,

Joe:

there was more than you would think.

Sebastion:

Oh yeah, for sure.

Sebastion:

Especially

Joe:

by the end of it.

Joe:

It's like, how did I not instantly see all of these when I was first playing through?

Joe:

Like,

Sebastion:

by the way, like the answer is 120.

Joe:

See?

Joe:

Damn.

Joe:

Like

Sebastion:

there's 120 shrines.

Sebastion:

It's in Brooklyn.

Sebastion:

Wow.

Sebastion:

That's crazy.

Sebastion:

20.

Sebastion:

I never f I never got all the shrines and breath of the wild.

Joe:

I I, dude, I just saw a little TikTok clip.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

Or like a Instagram real clip the other day of a, of a, a clip of somebody

Joe:

doing some breath of wild stuff.

Joe:

And I saw them get their way into like a secret shrine that I was

Joe:

like, I did not know that existed.

Joe:

Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. And this game came out years ago now already.

Joe:

And I was like, dang.

Joe:

All right.

Joe:

God, just a normy out here with three out of five.

Sebastion:

No, you did pretty good.

Sebastion:

You know, just outta curiosity, would you like to take the road not taken and

Sebastion:

see what option A would've gotten you?

Joe:

You know what?

Joe:

For posterity's sake,

Sebastion:

let's do it.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

All right.

Sebastion:

All right.

Sebastion:

So in the realm of Star Trek, ooh, this will be a toughie.

Sebastion:

Oh yeah, for sure.

Sebastion:

For sure.

Sebastion:

I, you know, like I'm not super well versed, star Trek, option

Joe:

B was best, let me tell ya.

Joe:

Oh yeah.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

Hit me.

Sebastion:

All right.

Sebastion:

So in the realm of Star Trek, what species motto is victory is life.

Sebastion:

What

Joe:

species motto is victory is life.

Joe:

Uh, it's not clinging on.

Joe:

No it's not.

Joe:

K Cling on.

Joe:

I can tell you that, uh, it's not human.

Joe:

I can tell you that.

Joe:

Um, I have a feeling.

Joe:

, it's probably going to be whatever that big, bad villain dude is.

Joe:

Um, and I know that there's a couple, but there's one I'm thinking of right now.

Joe:

He has a whole movie.

Joe:

It's like revenge of, uh, I can't even think of the dude's name.

Joe:

It's Revenge of, of

Sebastion:

starts with the K.

Sebastion:

Oh, you're talking about Racon?

Sebastion:

Rath of

Joe:

Khan.

Joe:

Thank you.

Joe:

Uh, whatever species.

Joe:

Khan is . I don't know what Khan is, but, so I'm not gonna get that right,

Joe:

but I'm gonna guess whatever thing he is.

Sebastion:

Um, Khan and Star Trek right?

Sebastion:

Was, I think he was just a human.

Sebastion:

Oh, dang.

Joe:

All right.

Joe:

Well

Sebastion:

nevermind.

Sebastion:

I think he was just a human, but regardless, um, let me make sure,

Sebastion:

um, I guess they call it aig.

Sebastion:

AIG was like his technical thing, but I think he was just like person, right.

Sebastion:

But anyways, the species is Jim Hadar.

Joe:

See, never in a million years

Sebastion:

I wouldn't have got that right either.

Sebastion:

I wouldn't have got that right.

Sebastion:

You never got that.

Sebastion:

I'm very surface of a Star Trek.

Joe:

Dude.

Joe:

My boss though, I share an office with mm-hmm.

Joe:

, they like showed up Halloween fully decked out in Captain Kirk's stuff.

Joe:

Oh, that's dope.

Joe:

With, with props and

Sebastion:

everything.

Sebastion:

That's dope.

Sebastion:

I enjoy it when people get into their fandoms.

Sebastion:

It was nuts.

Sebastion:

I was like, that's, this is intense dedication.

Joe:

They were like, I live for this . I was like, all right,

Sebastion:

dedication.

Sebastion:

I like it.

Sebastion:

So I got two last things for you, Joe, on the show.

Sebastion:

Um, the first one should be the easiest though.

Sebastion:

Okay.

Sebastion:

So Joe, where can the good people find?

Joe:

Oh, um, the good people can find me in my lovely self.

Joe:

If you think I'm lovely, uh, over at, uh, the YouTube channel, uh, devil

Joe:

Fruit Joe, um, over there I do my streaming and stuff and I might post,

Joe:

uh, short clips from the podcast.

Joe:

It's speaking another, the podcast, the Devil Fruit Podcast.

Joe:

You can find it delf fruit podcast.com, as well as any major listening site.

Joe:

Um, and, uh, just search the Devil Fruit Podcast.

Sebastion:

All right, Joe, the last thing I gotta ask you before you

Sebastion:

go though is I'm, do, I do this new segment that I implemented, um, semi

Sebastion:

recently, it's where all my guests, I give them a opportunity to basically

Sebastion:

bestow goodwill upon the world.

Sebastion:

And what I mean by that is, do you have some general life advice that

Sebastion:

you think people need to hear?

Joe:

Um, I don't know if it qualifies.

Joe:

as advice, so much as just like an instruction . Mm-hmm.

Joe:

. Um, but, uh, I, I recently worked my way into a position in work

Joe:

where I have a business email and I have like a little signature at

Joe:

the bottom, uh, kind of a thing.

Joe:

And I have a little line that I wrote there that just says,

Joe:

uh, stay happy, stay healthy.

Joe:

Uh, I like that.

Joe:

And I think, uh, I think, you know, if you pursue those two things,

Joe:

everything else will probably fall into

Sebastion:

place.

Sebastion:

I like that.

Sebastion:

I like that.

Sebastion:

It's, you know, it's simple, it's sweet and, you know, I like that.

Sebastion:

Good words to live by.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Yeah.

Sebastion:

Good words to live by.

Sebastion:

So, Joe, it's been great having you on the show.

Sebastion:

We're gonna have to do another deep dive into all things Nintendo, So ladies

Sebastion:

and gentlemen, Joe, we will be back.

Sebastion:

Joe:
