Well, Hey everybody, Jonathan Doyle with you.
Speaker:Once again.
Speaker:Welcome my friends to the daily podcast.
Speaker:We are back on the horse.
Speaker:I have been having a good long break.
Speaker:Went down to the coast the other day and jumped off a bridge.
Speaker:There's this cool little town of once a year, the police actually allow
Speaker:everybody to jump off the bridge into.
Speaker:The ocean into the title river there that leads into the ocean.
Speaker:And so I did, I jumped three times.
Speaker:And my children were there to encourage me to take the jump.
Speaker:I went there a year ago and, uh, the kids, like, you're gonna jump dad and
Speaker:I'm like, yeah, I'm going to jump.
Speaker:And then the first time I ever did it, I sort of climbed over the railing,
Speaker:looked down and went, what have I done?
Speaker:What have I done?
Speaker:As the hardest thing you there.
Speaker:And like, you know, I like to think of myself as a bit of a man's man.
Speaker:I'm standing there and.
Speaker:The kids like, well, haven't you jumped dad.
Speaker:Why haven't you jumped?
Speaker:So anyway, I did it.
Speaker:I had a few days off.
Speaker:And, uh, and that leads into today's podcast because me being down there
Speaker:led into the topic of today's podcast.
Speaker:But before we do that, police make sure you have subscribed,

Speaker:So go grab that link and let's talk.
Speaker:Friends when I was down the coast.
Speaker:I indulged my last real remaining addiction.
Speaker:I gave up alcohol a while back and my only real remaining
Speaker:addiction now is book purchases.
Speaker:I figured if you're going to have an addiction, it's one
Speaker:of the better ones to have.
Speaker:But I do love books and I do buy them on a, walked into
Speaker:this bookstore down the coast.
Speaker:And I bought a, I like biographies is regular listeners know I
Speaker:bought a great book called a solo.
Speaker:By the wonderfully named Jenny tough.
Speaker:I figure if you're going to run around the world sort of stuff, you
Speaker:need a cool name and Jenny tough because she is she's interesting.
Speaker:She just sort of loves running.
Speaker:I've got into running and then decided that it would be cool to run.
Speaker:Over across through the biggest mountain ranges in the world.
Speaker:So each chapter's kind of devoted to her journey, running solo, completely
Speaker:unsupported, nothing but a backpack.
Speaker:Uh, through some of the world's most remote.
Speaker:Challenging difficult mountain ranges, curves extend the 10
Speaker:shin mountains in Kazakhstan.
Speaker:She's been through the Atlas mountains in Morocco, and I'm currently finishing
Speaker:the chapter where she's running solo, unsupported through the Bolivian Andes.
Speaker:Where she ends up in hospital with high altitude pulmonary edema,
Speaker:but then goes back and finishes.
Speaker:Anyway, it's a great book and I love some of the lessons in it, but a
Speaker:quote jumped out at me because often.
Speaker:On in her expeditions, she was stuck with really complex decision making.
Speaker:Should I do this?
Speaker:Should I do that?
Speaker:What about this?
Speaker:What about that?
Speaker:Often, you know, decisions that could have been very serious for her.
Speaker:And here's this incredible quote, which I absolutely loved.
Speaker:She said, Once you've made a choice.
Speaker:Even if it's potentially the wrong one.
Speaker:A weight is lifted.
Speaker:Your mind is cleared to focus on other things.
Speaker:Than constantly stressing about what you should do.
Speaker:One more time.
Speaker:She says once you've made a choice, even if it's potentially
Speaker:the wrong one, a weight is lifted.
Speaker:Your mind is clear to focus on other things than constantly
Speaker:stressing about what you should do.
Speaker:I loved this quote.
Speaker:It's like she had read my mind.
Speaker:You know, we don't get to see the future perfectly.
Speaker:Of course.
Speaker:So, so much of the time we can all suffer from paralysis by analysis.
Speaker:We get stuck.
Speaker:Just totally stuck on whether the thing we're thinking of doing is
Speaker:the right thing, the wrong thing.
Speaker:And you got to live your way forward.
Speaker:Right?
Speaker:You've got to live your way into life.
Speaker:I'm somebody that's struggled with.
Speaker:Decision-making.
Speaker:A different point in life.
Speaker:I just, my brain, I'm very analytical and very Haiti person.
Speaker:So I get to, I just think about all the possible risks and permutations,
Speaker:but her quote was reminded me very much at jumping off that bridge
Speaker:sooner or later, you got to commit.
Speaker:Sooner or later you've got to commit because as regular listeners know, I had
Speaker:a really bad accident in 2019, I've got a ton of titanium in both sides of my body.
Speaker:So the first time I ever jumped on my brain was going, what if, what if
Speaker:you hit the water hard and you damage your arms and your brains going?
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Listen to that.
Speaker:Listen to that.
Speaker:And, uh, you know, you have to take the leap.
Speaker:So I want to say to you today.
Speaker:Take action.
Speaker:Make decisions.
Speaker:And in the video version of this, there'll be a video version
Speaker:here too on YouTube and rumble.
Speaker:You know, it's often hard to just take that first step.
Speaker:We just kind of think, well, you know, what if it's, what if it's the wrong one?
Speaker:And, and what I wanted to talk about was the difference between being frivolous.
Speaker:You know, because sometimes people might think I'm saying.
Speaker:You being frivolous, like you just doesn't matter, you know, you just go for it.
Speaker:Whatever flip a coin.
Speaker:And again, being frivolous means you're not really that
Speaker:concerned about the outcome.
Speaker:If you're frivolous with decision-making it's because
Speaker:you either don't value yourself.
Speaker:You don't care about yourself enough to value yourself enough to
Speaker:make good choices, or you're not really invested in the outcome.
Speaker:And that's not what we're talking about.
Speaker:We're talking about valuing ourselves, wanting to build really
Speaker:good, positive, happy lives.
Speaker:So we are invested in the choices, but you know, you can't stay stuck.
Speaker:You got to make them.
Speaker:And I've been doing this lately.
Speaker:I've been making decisions, taking choices, and it's quite liberating.
Speaker:You suddenly kind of feel like you're back behind the wheel again.
Speaker:So for everybody listening today, there's still a bit stuck in life.
Speaker:Take action, make decisions, take action, make decisions.
Speaker:They could be wrong, but this is life, right?
Speaker:This is, you know, I've got kids and, and say your parent, you
Speaker:kind of got to let them grow up.
Speaker:You gotta let them try things.
Speaker:And.
Speaker:You know, you want to give them parameters and boundaries and fences
Speaker:and wisdom, and you want to raise them.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:But sooner or later, They have to make choices of their
Speaker:own, have to make decisions.
Speaker:And I think that's how God looks at us.
Speaker:He's like, here's this life I give you.
Speaker:Here's this great big wild world.
Speaker:And it's all these things are possible for you to have be indu.
Speaker:But to have and to be, and to do the things that matter to you.
Speaker:Then you're going to have to make choices.
Speaker:So that's it for today, friends.
Speaker:Uh please make sure you're subscribed to hope you like what you're hearing.
Speaker:I got a big week of content coming up for you please go and grab that free 30 minute
