Segment 1: Why use student presentations in your classroom?

  • Students should learn to get good at (and enjoy) public speaking
  • Extremely powerful learning happens when you have to teach something to someone else
  • Good for task-based learning – students explain how to perform a skill – class watches and repeats
  • Good for classroom management – teach students to respect each other
  • Building student confidence

Segment 2: EdTech Tools

Segment 3: Presentation Project Ideas

  • Normal slide presentations (ppt, google, prezi, etc)
  • Gallery Walk style mini-presentations to small groups of students
  • Assign a slide review
  • Choose your own ending presentation (clickable links in google slides)
  • Debates (canva, visme, piktochart, adobe spark)
  • Pamphlet or brochure (piktochart, gsuite templates in slides or docs)
  • Newspaper (use google with gifs to make more interest)
  • Gameshow (jeopardy, family feud, etc)
  • Interactive maps or timelines (thinglink)
  • Infographics (canva, visme, piktochart, etc)
