Welcome to This Daring Adventure podcast,
where we work on bridging the gap between
2
:where we are and where we want to be in
order to live a bigger and bolder life.
3
:In this podcast, we will provide
inspiration, tips, and skills
4
:you need to make your life the
adventure you want it to be.
5
:Here's your host, mindset mentor
and life coach, Trista Guertin.
6
:Trista: Hey everybody, welcome
back to the podcast and thank
7
:you so much for joining me today.
8
:Today I wanted to talk about
something that a lot of us haven't
9
:been taught to think about in this
way, but once you do, I think it
10
:will really change a lot for you.
11
:This is something that I learned from
my coach, Brooke Castillo at the Life
12
:Coach School, It really had an impact on
me, and I think about it all the time.
13
:Okay, so here it is.
14
:What if you saw your brain as
an ever appreciating asset?
15
:An investment that compounds
over time, just like money.
16
:what if the most valuable financial
investment you could ever make wasn't
17
:in stocks, wasn't in real estate or a
retirement fund, but in yourself, in
18
:your brain, in your ability to think,
grow and create your ability to go
19
:after goals and achieve those goals.
20
:challenges and do whatever
it is you set your mind to.
21
:So let's get into that.
22
:We all understand the concept of
compound interest when it comes to money.
23
:You put in a little, you let it
grow, and over time it compounds
24
:and makes you wealthier, correct?
25
:Now imagine if we applied the
same thinking to our brains.
26
:But most people won't, right?
27
:They don't.
28
:We're not taught this.
29
:Up until recently, we've been taught that
intelligence is fixed, our personality is
30
:fixed, that learning stops after school,
and that personal growth is optional.
31
:But that's just not true.
32
:Your brain is capable of
infinite expansion, learning,
33
:and development, growth, change.
34
:The more you invest in it,
the more valuable it becomes.
35
:And then the more it gives
back to you over time.
36
:Your capacity will grow.
37
:Your evolution will continue.
38
:Your world gets bigger.
39
:Let me ask you.
40
:How much are you investing
in your brain right now?
41
:Because here's what I know.
42
:The most successful, fulfilled,
and happiest people in the world
43
:think about their brain this way.
44
:They treat it like the most
valuable thing they own.
45
:And when you start seeing your brain as an
asset, an appreciating, compounding asset,
46
:your entire approach to life will change.
47
:So, this is really The best
investment you can make.
48
:This is one that will give
you the highest return.
49
:You don't want to be looking at
index funds and you don't want
50
:to be looking at real estate.
51
:Truly, your best investment
will be investing in your brain.
52
:And here's why.
53
:When you invest in your mind,
through learning, coaching, reading,
54
:challenging yourself, setting big
goals, you expand your thinking.
55
:You become more capable, and you'll
create more value in the world.
56
:And value is what leads
to financial success.
57
:And value is what leads to financial
success, to opportunities, to
58
:innovation, and to evolution.
59
:Your ability to think, is
what determines your results.
60
:You can hand somebody a million dollars,
and if they don't have the mindset or
61
:the skills to manage it, they'll lose it.
62
:We see this with lottery
winners all the time, right?
63
:Somebody wins a big amount of
money and then they lose it.
64
:Or you watch any of the big
athletes or actors, actresses,
65
:they earn all this money.
66
:And then they lose it, and they're
not happy, they don't know what to do.
67
:Their success means nothing because they
don't know how to be creating their own
68
:joy and creating their own happiness and
managing their minds and their emotions.
69
:If you take someone who has built their
mind, who has invested in their brain,
70
:they can create wealth, success, and
fulfillment, and joy over and over again.
71
:The return on the investment is infinite.
72
:And one of the best ways to invest
in your brain is through coaching.
73
:Now here's why.
74
:Coaching helps you see your blind spots.
75
:They say you can't read the
label from inside the box.
76
:Or a hairdresser can't cut their own hair.
77
:coaching helps you to
see what you can't see.
78
:And it challenges the way you think.
79
:It will disrupt your beliefs.
80
:It will help you to create new
patterns of thought that serve you.
81
:And it will help you to be with
your emotions in a way that is
82
:helpful, not holding you back.
83
:A coach will provide perspective that
you simply cannot see on your own.
84
:And just like the best athletes in
the world have coaches to push them
85
:further, the most successful people
invest in coaches to stretch their
86
:minds, to help them to evolve, to
help them to go to that next level.
87
:It's not just about solving problems.
88
:but it's really to help
you see what you can't see.
89
:Think bigger and go to the next level.
90
:It helps you to manage your
thoughts, which in turn shapes
91
:your emotions and actions and
creates the results that you want.
92
:When you have someone guiding you like
that, when you have a coach helping
93
:you to uncover the stories that you're
telling yourself, the beliefs that
94
:are holding you back, the thought
loops that you're stuck in, and then
95
:teaching you how to think on purpose,
you will really accelerate your growth.
96
:This is when we're pouring
fuel on the fire, right?
97
:It's like putting your brain in
a high yield investment account.
98
:It compounds faster and it's giving you
bigger returns in every area of your life.
99
:It has that ripple effect.
100
:It affects every area of your life and you
just can't help but show up differently.
101
:So how do you do this?
102
:How do you start investing
in your brain today?
103
:I have a couple of ways.
104
:The first is to learn on purpose.
105
:Growth isn't just gonna happen
on its own or if it does it
106
:happens at a very slow rate.
107
:You have to be intentional.
108
:Read the books, take the courses, listen
to the podcast, work with the coach.
109
:Do this daily.
110
:Even if it's just for 20 minutes,
it can have a huge impact over time
111
:when you're persistent with it.
112
:Second, you need to learn
to manage your thoughts.
113
:Your brain is definitely the most
powerful tool you have, but most
114
:of us just let it run on autopilot.
115
:We don't use it intentionally.
116
:So we need to start directing our
thoughts, questioning our beliefs,
117
:and choosing what we want to focus on.
118
:Otherwise, it just takes us into the
gutter, and it just focuses on the
119
:negative, and looks for problems,
and just keeps thinking the same
120
:thoughts over and over again.
121
:And that's how you land up just living
the same day over and over again.
122
:Third, you really need to be
willing to be uncomfortable.
123
:Growth doesn't happen inside your comfort
zone, but when you push yourself, you
124
:challenge yourself, you stretch your
thinking, and you are willing to feel
125
:the discomfort and any emotion that
comes up, knowing that you're going to
126
:be okay, that's when you, your brain
evolves, that's when your world expands,
127
:that's when you're able to take on
bigger and bigger challenges and goals.
128
:Fourth, you want to take action.
129
:Learning isn't enough, because
it's very passive in some
130
:respects, but you want to apply it.
131
:The real investment happens when you
apply what you learn and you take action.
132
:Take the risks, make the
decisions, and create the results.
133
:It doesn't have to be perfect,
it doesn't have to be huge.
134
:But massive action means that you
start taking action and you keep going
135
:until you get the results you want.
136
:Take the next step, and then the next step
after that, and the next step after that.
137
:There will be failures, but think
of failure as something just not
138
:turning out the way you had hoped.
139
:And you learn from that.
140
:You evaluate, you learn, you apply, and
you go again, and you just keep going.
141
:And that's when magic happens.
142
:When you start investing in your brain,
when you prioritize your thinking, your
143
:learning, your growth, you begin to change
the way you see yourself and the world.
144
:You stop feeling stuck.
145
:You stop believing that you're at
the mercy of your circumstances.
146
:Your life just is not happening to you,
but you are living more intentionally.
147
:And you realize that everything
you want, every dream, every
148
:goal is available to you.
149
:And the only thing that's standing
between you and it is how you think.
150
:You have to just overcome yourself
and this is the work that we do.
151
:When you build your brain,
you build your future.
152
:You create opportunities, confidence,
wealth, fulfillment, anything you want.
153
:And you're doing it from the inside out.
154
:So here's what I want you to
take away from this episode.
155
:Your brain is the most valuable
asset you will ever have.
156
:It is an ever appreciating, ever
expanding investment that will
157
:compound for the rest of your life,
if you choose to invest in it.
158
:Start today.
159
:Pick one way to grow your
brain, to challenge yourself,
160
:to invest in your thinking.
161
:Because the return, it's unlimited.
162
:Alright, that's what I have for you today.

you're working on, bring it, let's do

anything, you don't have to do
