About Our Guest
Tisha Wylie found her passion for cooking and entertaining at a young age, a passion which evolved as she matured and had her own apartment to host friend. It was in 2006 that she began writing original recipes which she submitted for a Food Network competition. Despite not being chosen, Tisha decided to compile her recipes and wrote her first cookbook titled "California Style Cooking". The following year she relocated to the East Coast, where a friend encouraged her to turn her culinary skills into a business. Initially hesitant, Tisha would go on to carve her own path in the food industry.
"Anticipating Holiday Meals: I can tell you it's going to be a four course meal that we're doing, and with that, it's going to be paired with a nice wine and some nice cocktails. Actually, it's going to be good for all the time, particularly for the holidays, because right now, people are either going to someone's house or they're taking food to someone's house."

Welcome, everyone, to another episode of Get Seen with
Speaker:Leilani Wells. I'm super excited. We are sharing even
Speaker:more of our holiday Entrepreneur Summit. What we have cooking
Speaker:in our holiday entrepreneur Summit special version
Speaker:of Get Seen. And we are here with one of
Speaker:our amazing chefs from Get Seen in the Kitchen. If you don't already
Speaker:know, if you haven't heard the word yet, we now are
Speaker:premiering Get Seen in the Kitchen at the holiday Entrepreneur Summit, the
Speaker:fourth annual holiday Entrepreneur Summit. And we will have
Speaker:Chef Tisha, who's here with us today. Share a little bit about that in a
Speaker:second what they have in store for you. But right now, I want you to
Speaker:have an opportunity to get to know her a little bit. Welcome, Chef Tisha. Hello.
Speaker:Hello. Thank you for having me on. I appreciate it. Thank you for the
Speaker:opportunity. And, yeah, I'm ready to talk,
Speaker:ready to share, chop it up,
Speaker:whatever. I'm so happy to have you. And I don't know if
Speaker:I've shared this enough with you. I feel like you and
Speaker:Chef Alicia and Leslie and Rachel,
Speaker:you all are making just another layer of my dreams come
Speaker:true. I know. Am I telling them too much,
Speaker:or am I not telling them enough? Because I'm over here just, like, coming out
Speaker:of my skin over this. I'm like, this is so exciting. Every time I talk
Speaker:to you guys, there's another right? There's another layer. Like, we just added something else
Speaker:before we went live. We see the vision. Right? So you shared the
Speaker:vision, you're total visionary. And then, fortunately, you got
Speaker:people that are with it. Right? So we're with all the smoke, so we want
Speaker:to make it happen. We love what we're love, you know,
Speaker:cooking, teaching Chef Felicia the same
Speaker:mix, so yeah, it's a good team of people. I love it. Yeah.
Speaker:And, you know, when you say that how it's a good team of people, I've
Speaker:been noticing how you guys are all gelling so well, and
Speaker:that's just one of the major aspects of what I love to see.
Speaker:And part of my vision is letting people see the
Speaker:vision of where I match them too, as far as what they're doing
Speaker:with each other, these pairings that are going to take their businesses to another
Speaker:level together, because collaboration is just such a big deal in
Speaker:general. It's really added so much depth
Speaker:and so much faster success and all the
Speaker:things to my business, and it's great. And to make
Speaker:friends. Yes. Colleagues, friends.
Speaker:Yes. I love it. Yeah. The people that get you, and they're not like, you're
Speaker:working too much. This end is not work. Okay. This is
Speaker:fun. What are you talking about? Yeah. So tell
Speaker:everybody a little bit about yourself. What's your chef
Speaker:story? I have to know because you're just chef story. So I've been
Speaker:cooking for a very long time, for over 30 years. I know. I don't look
Speaker:like that. But no, it's true.
Speaker:But I loved cooking when I was a
Speaker:kid. When I was a kid, I watched cartoons and
Speaker:then, like, cooking programs, like PBS
Speaker:was the thing. So I watched all those shows all the time,
Speaker:and I just thought, you know what, I like to do that. As I got
Speaker:a little bit older, I was able to help bake during holidays, all that kind
Speaker:of stuff. And then it kind of just graduated as I got older, being able
Speaker:to entertain when I got my own apartment and all that stuff and having the
Speaker:friends over. So I've always really liked that aspect of feeding people
Speaker:and making people happy with food. It wasn't
Speaker:until 2006 I
Speaker:started writing some recipes. I entered a contest for the Food
Speaker:Network, and part of that contest, I had to
Speaker:have some recipes, original recipes to submit. Well, they didn't pick me, so I was
Speaker:just like, you know what, whatever. So I thought, what am I going
Speaker:to do with all these recipes? So I added some more recipes, and I ended
Speaker:up with my first version of my cookbook, which is called California
Speaker:Style Cooking. Then I moved to the East Coast 2007,
Speaker:and a friend of mine just really encouraged me to
Speaker:start, like, a food business. And at first I was like, yeah, no
Speaker:thanks. I just want to entertain. I'm going to be on some cooking show, and
Speaker:that's what I'm going to do. But I ended up conceding. I did that,
Speaker:did private chefing for dinner parties, people up to
Speaker:like 30 folks, down to date night for folks.
Speaker:And I did it that way because I really enjoy cooking for people with
Speaker:my family. So the catering thing never appealed to me. Like, I'm not catering a
Speaker:wedding. I'm not catering your 80th birthday party. I'm not doing any of that
Speaker:stuff. I like the fact that I could do small,
Speaker:intimate things up to 30 folks
Speaker:and be successful with that. So I was able to do that. And then
Speaker:time moved by, I did that. I did some professional cake making
Speaker:for a little while, and I liked it but didn't love it. So I stopped
Speaker:doing that. In the middle of all that, I
Speaker:revamped my cookbook. It's called Tish's table. So I've done that,
Speaker:and then I got into the coaching space. I was able to get into the
Speaker:coaching space, and it took me a little while to figure out how I was
Speaker:going to put my culinary skills into that
Speaker:space outside of YouTube and how to
Speaker:videos. So I was able to do that, still learning all the little
Speaker:things to do that. So I started a program, a 90 day program that's kind
Speaker:of zeroed in with a group of people that want to learn kitchen
Speaker:basics, techniques, that kind of stuff.
Speaker:I have a VIP one, a VIP program where people don't if they don't want
Speaker:to cook with a group of folks and they're a little bit more introverted. I've
Speaker:got that. It's definitely been like
Speaker:an evolution, but it's been a bumpy ride, but a fun ride.
Speaker:As you're sharing your story, I felt like I was in it. I was just
Speaker:like, oh, yeah, I could see you in the kitchen on
Speaker:date night and all that. And by the way, total side note, but I
Speaker:love the COVID of your book, Tisha's Table. Thank you.
Speaker:I love it. I love it. So cool. Thank you.
Speaker:Most people that are that I'm a creative by nature, so if
Speaker:you talk to any kind of other chef or anything like that, they're usually creatives
Speaker:by nature. And so that cover, I was like, I
Speaker:want the COVID that way. So the person that I was working with, I found
Speaker:some inspiration on Pinterest, and then I got
Speaker:like, a bang up photographer and good makeup artist, and so I was
Speaker:like, this is it. I was like, yes, it's a good cover. I
Speaker:love it. Yes, love it. Love it so
Speaker:much. So I want to know I know you can't give all of
Speaker:it away, right? All the juicy details, but I want to know a little
Speaker:bit. Like, give everyone a little nugget about what you
Speaker:all have in store for them for the holiday. Oh, my
Speaker:gosh. Okay, so I can't give the recipes
Speaker:away just yet because it's not released. So I'm not going to blow people's cover
Speaker:or anything like that, but I will say that it's nice, full
Speaker:round menu. I can tell you it's going to be a four course meal
Speaker:that we're doing, and with that, it's going to be paired with a
Speaker:nice wine and some nice cocktails.
Speaker:Obviously, we can't share the recipes just yet, but just know it's going to be
Speaker:good for holidays. Actually, it's going to be good for all the time,
Speaker:particularly for the holidays, because right now, people are either going to someone's house
Speaker:or they're taking food to someone's house. So all the things that we're going to
Speaker:share are going to be able to fit into that little thing.
Speaker:I love this. Okay. What I'm so excited about for
Speaker:everyone who is going to participate, what you guys may not know is
Speaker:that we're setting this up to where you can cook with them. So
Speaker:you can either watch this video or you can literally
Speaker:cook alongside, because they're going to be releasing the
Speaker:menu and the shopping, the grocery list, and tell you everything you need, all
Speaker:the cooking utensils, everything you need. To where? When
Speaker:we all go live, you guys can prepare it with them, or you can
Speaker:actually save the video and learn later. Or just take the
Speaker:instructions and the recipe however you want to do it. And what's so cool
Speaker:about that is we've made sure that it is something that
Speaker:is not going to be a lengthy amount of time, right? Normally with the
Speaker:gifting in the kitchen when it's not the Holiday Entrepreneur Summit edition, it's 30
Speaker:minutes meals because we know you're busy, so it's going to be a little bit
Speaker:longer because it's a holiday focus, right? But
Speaker:it's still taking in mind in account that your time and
Speaker:everything, because that's part of the core value of
Speaker:getting in the kitchen, is making this attainable for working business
Speaker:people to be able to be the homemakers that we miss being
Speaker:sometimes when we get in the weeds of our business. Right? So I
Speaker:just love that you guys are really mindful of all of these
Speaker:aspects, and it's just so exciting.
Speaker:It's going to be good because we're really going to set everybody up for success,
Speaker:right? So not only will you get the recipe, you can get online
Speaker:and be like, I'm going to look up this recipe. But what you don't
Speaker:get is the step by step, like, clear step by step
Speaker:equipment that you need to use down to the
Speaker:knives, what knives you should have. And we're going to be mindful
Speaker:of stuff that you already have in the kitchen so you don't have to go
Speaker:make some kind of crazy investment. So
Speaker:you'll get that, and then it's something that they could keep in their repertoire, in
Speaker:their cooking repertoire. And for me, I've told you this before,
Speaker:I'm about building kitchen confidence. So when people do these things and
Speaker:they test these recipes, or even if they just watch it
Speaker:and they're just watching it as a demo, but then they try it out later,
Speaker:that's going to add to your repertoire. That's going to build your confidence.
Speaker:Oh, my goodness. Okay, I know we have to get going, but I'm so
Speaker:excited. I'm going to be in your inbox in your DMs later.
Speaker:But thank you all for joining us. We want to see you at this
Speaker:year's fourth annual Holiday Entrepreneur Summit. Get Seen in the Kitchen
Speaker:is an added bonus for all of you that are going. You get to be
Speaker:a part of Get Seen In The Kitchen the day before the main event on
Speaker:the 16th. And it's something that you'll get to
Speaker:save and keep so you can prepare this meal again for
Speaker:your family when you have guests in town. And we're really looking forward to seeing
Speaker:you at both events. And Chef
Speaker:Tisha, where should they follow you in the interim so they are kept in the
Speaker:know about all the things you have going on and everything leading up to the
Speaker:Holiday Entrepreneur Summit. I am on all the socials,
Speaker:so TikTok and Instagram. You can find me
Speaker:at Chef Tishaw. That's TikTok
Speaker:and instagram. Facebook. It's
Speaker:Facebook.com Tishastable. And if you're
Speaker:on LinkedIn, I'm still getting used to LinkedIn. It's
Speaker:LinkedIn backslash at.
Speaker:Love it. Love it. Thank you so much for joining us. Thank you all for
Speaker:coming, and we will see you next time. Bye, everyone. Bye.
