Out of Egypt

Craig Dehut part 2

There is so much noise today in the media. Useless, controversial and often inflammatory rhetoric which leads to more and more animosity and division.  Documentaries today tend to “fuel the fire” (so to speak) as well. In order to teach the Gospel, we first must understand the Gospel message. The only way to truly understand the Gospel message is to experience it as best we can.  Many people are unable to make a pilgrimage to the land of the Bible. Many people do not have the resources, or perhaps their health issues preclude them from doing so. It’s been said that a picture is worth a thousand words… I’d also add that a video is probably worth 10,000 pictures. Because, in actuality, that is what a video is… thousands of individual pictures strung together in sequence to tell as story. Amen! This brings up the need for safe, professional and Biblically accurate videos that reflect the Bible Stories in a unique way that will motivate, educate and inspire Christians everywhere. That is where our guest comes in. Amen. Craig Dehut is one the co-founders of Apian Media. He and Stuart Peck were alarmed with the soaring rate of disengaged young people with the Bible. They recognized one of the causes was lack of engaging, accurate and professionally produced videos that would capture the attention of, not only the younger generation, but Christians everywhere.  And that, in the process, these videos would be viewed from around the world through the power of the internet. Even in places open witnessing cannot be accomplished. Amen! They recently released their latest work, “Out of Egypt,” which is a video detailing their attempt to make the “Exodus Journey” which God used to free Israel from Egyptian bondage.

This is part two to a great conversation with Craig Dehut!

If I did my calculations correctly, the average brick maker could make 500 bricks per day – per person. Did you ever find out if that was the “tale of the bricks” that would have been used in Biblical times?

I learned from the video that the “Ark of the Covenant” idea came from Egypt. Is that right?

In the video, you take the viewer on a ship out into the Red Sea. How impressive was it being on the Red Sea and knowing you were in the same spot God Supernaturally parted those waters and allowed a million plus people through on dry ground?

As your crew was filming on Mt. Sinai, a pastor who had walked up to the top of the mountain made it to the top – walking the entire way with a cane. Praise God!  When I saw that, I immediately thought of Moses in his 80’s making that journey, too.

Your video shows a massive desert where the Israelites had to learn to rely on God every step of every day for every single thing they needed.  Can you explain how relevant that is for us today – even in our society?

How important is it for us to take advantage of modern technology, like video and the internet to help people become re-engaged with the Bible?

What do you see as the future of “Faith Based Media?”

It took Moses and Israel 40 years to make their journey. How long did it take your team to make the journey?

Your video focuses on one person in your crew… but how many were actually there with you for the filming of different camera angles, etc.?

You had your premier viewings a few months ago. What was the general response to this documentary?

This proves the value of the power of visual story-telling in ministry, doesn’t it?

At the end of the video, there is a tribute to Linda Dehut.  Who is that?

What is your next project you are planning and when can we expect to see it published?

As we get ready to close… If someone wanted to get in touch with you, to ask a question or perhaps to do an interview such as this – how can they do that? How can someone get in touch with you?

Appian Media puts these documentaries together solely off of donations made to your 501-c-3 ministry, correct?  If someone wanted to get in touch with you to send an offering of support, etc., how can they do that?

Folks, as I said the beginning today… a “picture is worth a thousand words.” And we have learned also that a video is worth ten thousand or more pictures. There is no way every person in the sound of my voice could make a pilgrimage like Craig and his crew did. Some can… some will… but for the rest of us – we have to do it vicariously through others.

That is where Craig Dehut and his team and partners at Appian Media come in. Their calling is make these videos and to take YOU into the land of the Bible. To have you experience the Bible through their video.

I can’t tell you how much this interview has blessed me. I’ve watched their most recent video and it is AWESOME. I’ve put the links for you to get in touch with Appian Media below. You can view their works on the website, or download the videos… it’s up to you. But I cannot emphasize the importance of you dropping down in the show notes and clicking the links right there.

Reach out to Craig and his team. Reach out and view the videos… and I want to add – send along an offering of support. Amen!

Pastors, I believe this would make a great missionary outreach for your church. I’d even recommend reaching out to Craig about having a special viewing at your church and inviting Craig or one of his team to come in and speak for the special event. Amen!

Let your congregation experience it first-hand! Praise God!
