How the Church Shoots

Our Wounded

Matthew Karchner pt 1

Today in the news, we see a massive attack on Christianity. It is coming from all sides. It is happening in government, in education, in public, in private and the devil is relentless in his efforts to keep people in bondage and to silence the Church and anyone who claims Faith in Christ.

One of the most prolific attacks on Faith comes from the LGBTQ+ community and those who endorse and support this type of behavior. Our guest today was part of that community for many years – that is until he found Christ! Amen!

Today, we have an incredible guest with us, someone whose journey from a life deeply entwined with homosexuality - but has now been delivered, saved, called and serves as a devoted missionary for Christ overseas. Amen!

Matthew Karchner experienced a profound transformation that can only be described as supernatural. For many years, he navigated the complexities of his life, searching for identity and purpose in all the wrong places. Drugs, alcohol, even thoughts of prostitution. He faced challenges and questions that many of us may not be able to relate to – but there are many people out there, some listening right now, that can. Amen!

Matt was working for PNC Bank for 15 years. But in having been delivered from the gay lifestyle in 2010, he was forced by PNC Bank to support the LGBTQ agenda. To that, he refused. His letter of resignation stated, “I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back!” AMEN!  Glory to God!

Once chief among gay sinners, Matt now calls the LGBTQ to repentance and Faith in Christ! He earned an Masters of Arts in Theological Studies from Liberty University and is on target to earn his Masters of Divinity soon. Amen!

Now, Matthew is now a missionary and church pastor in Cambodia, sharing the message of hope and transformation with others who are also seeking their own path to redemption. His story reminds us that, with Faith, Hope and Love – and Jesus Christ – even the most challenging circumstances can be overcome.

His ministry is called, “Castaway Ministries” and he is the author of the book, “The Church: We Shoot the Wounded.”

This is part two of an amazing two part interview with Pastor Matthew Karchner!

What would you like to see pastors and churches do better concerning these situations?

I don’t know the answer to this question, so that’s why I’m asking it. Do you know what the recidivism rate is for homosexuals that have been delivered and the fell back into that lifestyle?

I ask that because we see it blasted all over the media when a pastor falls from Grace. The media will give it headlines far and wide and people will cry out for greater accountability, etc. Has this sort of thing happened to you because of your background? Where churches and other Christians don’t “trust you” because they think you may backslide and, I don’t know, take others with you?

And this is after you’ve been delivered. After you’ve been saved and forgiven.  I believe there are some in the church who have committed adultery, done drugs, committed robberies, etc. They’ve been forgiven and accepted back – but why do you think they are more suspicious, not just of you, but of others who struggled with homosexuality?

You’ve actually authored three books. The first was published in 2020 and titled, “Straight: An ExGay Prodigal Son.”  Your second was a follow on book called, “Straight 2: ExGay Adventures in Christ,” published in 2021.  Share about those two books. Why you wrote them and published them…

Your book, “The Church: We Shoot the Wounded,” is your latest book, published in September of 2022. Why did you write this book and why publish it now?

Share about your book “The Church: We Shoot the Wounded.”

How has that book been received and viewed by “the Church” and pastors?

I wanted to ask you, what did Liberty University think of your testimony?

Matt, what would you like to say to pastors out there that may be listening to us right now?

I praise God for your deliverance. That’s why, when you reached out, I jumped at the chance to have you on the program. Your testimony is the kind that needs to be shared in these dark days that we are facing right now. Your testimony is what many believers are praying for – and to hear all of the backlash and condemnation, etc. you received is heartbreaking. I pray that this interview will help to break down some of those barriers for you. You can share the link to this interview with those you are reaching out to and it may help them to hear everything we’ve been discussing today.

How can someone obtain copies of your books, “Straight;” “Straight 2;” and “The Church: We Shoot the Wounded” – are they available on Amazon?

If someone wanted to reach out to you, to ask a question, or maybe to do an interview such as this – how can they do that? How can someone get in touch with you?

You’re a missionary in a far land, doing the work of the Lord.  You obviously need some financial support to continue doing the Lord’s work. If someone listening right now would like to sow some financial seed into good ground – how can they do that? How can they send along an offering of support?

Folks, Matthew Karchner’s story is not an isolated incident. These are the types of salvations and deliverances believers pray for in this day and time! Amen!  I urge you to drop down into the show notes and order copies of Matthew Karchner’s books. Get in touch with him. Invite him to do interviews. Invite him to speak when he’s home (you can even do Zoom events now, thanks to COVID). Amen!

Be sure to send along an offering of support as well. Every little bit helps. Don’t think, “I can’t send much…” and then do nothing. If everyone could send something, he could expand his outreach even more. Amen! Do it today, while you are thinking about. Pastor – I urge you to pray about supporting Mathew as one of your missionary projects. Amen!
