  • Charles was exposed to sports as being part of a neighborhood and playing outdoors
  • He wasn't highly recruited out of high school but knew he would play golf at Clemson once he received the offer even though his dad had been a cheerleader at the University of South Carolina
  • It was overwhelming at first as a freshman and redshirting was the best thing for him to be able to prove himself
  • Winning the 1997 NCAA Individual Championship was the defining moment for him that led to him having the confidence that he needed
  • As a PGA Tour pro, you're an independent contractor and it's like running your own business
  • There was a definite 'Tiger' effect on tour that you could feel whenever Tiger Woods played
  • Stepped away from the game in 2012 because he wasn't enjoying the process anymore
  • He believes that both Dabo Swinney and Larry Penley have been successful because the foundation is built around culture
