Hi there.
Speaker:I see that you made it over to the new tips
Speaker:and talk portion of the podcast.
Speaker:These are bite-sized topics that I pull from community questions and
Speaker:things that I'm observing in the world of handmade small business.
Speaker:How do you get lucky in your business tips and talk
Speaker:13 perfect topic,
Speaker:but we'll see people that we think have just had overnight
Speaker:success, instant luck that Juul,
Speaker:or who all of a sudden has their products showing up
Speaker:on Oprah's favorites or all of a sudden your local baker
Speaker:is now one of the finalists for the greatest baker contest
Speaker:on TV,
Speaker:or, you know,
Speaker:somebody who creates pampering products,
Speaker:just like you do.
Speaker:And then all of a sudden they have a featured article
Speaker:in the local newspaper and you're like,
Speaker:how did they get so lucky as to be able to
Speaker:be on Oprah's favorites or be on the greatest baker or
Speaker:have a featured article in the local paper?
Speaker:They got so lucky.
Speaker:That's what we think.
Speaker:Here's what you're not seeing.
Speaker:You're not seeing from that jewelry maker all the late night,
Speaker:creating of the product,
Speaker:figuring out how to put it together,
Speaker:how she can make her jewelry different from anybody else's so
Speaker:she can stand out.
Speaker:And then the hustle of getting out there and showing the
Speaker:world her products.
Speaker:So she could even be discovered by Oprah.
Speaker:You're not seeing that baker who is freaking out that she's
Speaker:going to look like a failure or the reputation that she's
Speaker:built up in her local neighborhood bakery is going to just
Speaker:crumble away because she's not going to do well.
Speaker:When she's on TV,
Speaker:all that fear in that mindset stuff,
Speaker:we don't see any of that.
Speaker:We also don't see the planning and the strategy behind somebody
Speaker:who has a pampering business,
Speaker:who has said,
Speaker:I want to get into my local print papers.
Speaker:So I'm going to develop relationships with the writers or the
Speaker:editorial staff,
Speaker:have them get to know me.
Speaker:I'm going to pitch articles.
Speaker:It may have taken a full year for somebody to even
Speaker:have an article that would be of interest for someone to
Speaker:write about.
Speaker:So it's not that people just automatically get lucky.
Speaker:There's a lot of work.
Speaker:That's come behind these things that we see and interpret as
Speaker:luck. There's no such thing as overnight success when we're first
Speaker:identifying it,
Speaker:we're seeing that success.
Speaker:We're not seeing all the behind the scenes things that it
Speaker:took to get there.
Speaker:You know,
Speaker:it could have been months or years of work to get
Speaker:to the place that they're at.
Speaker:It's just that we'd never seen the jewelry or the baker
Speaker:or the pampering before,
Speaker:until they start getting the notoriety and the visibility.
Speaker:When we start talking about how to get lucky in your
Speaker:business, I put it into one statement for you to be
Speaker:lucky. You have to put yourself in locks path.
Speaker:Let me say that again for you to be lucky in
Speaker:your business,
Speaker:you have to put yourself in Luxe path.
Speaker:You can't sit home on the couch and just wish.
Speaker:And you know,
Speaker:I'm a big manifestor right?
Speaker:But you can't just put out into the universe that you
Speaker:want to be lucky.
Speaker:You have to take action and do something about it.
Speaker:So what are the types of things that you were do
Speaker:to take action so that you can also attract luck to
Speaker:your business?
Speaker:One, if you have a product that you've already created,
Speaker:show your product to family and friends,
Speaker:get their feedback,
Speaker:start getting the product out there and getting an understanding of
Speaker:what the market thinks of your product,
Speaker:adjust your product accordingly,
Speaker:and then continue selling your product.
Speaker:Get that visibility.
Speaker:Take the action of getting out there.
Speaker:The second thing,
Speaker:networking, going to your local chamber.
Speaker:Face-to-face going into Facebook groups,
Speaker:online networking with other types of makers,
Speaker:go out to shows.
Speaker:Craft shows,
Speaker:wholesale shows online,
Speaker:and in-person third thing.
Speaker:Work your business,
Speaker:look and see what is actually producing results.
Speaker:What's not producing results,
Speaker:do activities that are closer to the sale versus those easy
Speaker:activities like reorganizing your production area,
Speaker:putting all of the yarn in place,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:counting everything for inventory,
Speaker:that type of thing.
Speaker:That's not helping you get a sale.
Speaker:Do the harder things that are allowing you to get your
Speaker:sales, adjust your business when necessary.
Speaker:If you're not seeing the sales and the results that need
Speaker:to be coming in,
Speaker:this is how you make things happen for your business and
Speaker:how you can be someone who is lucky.
Speaker:It's all of these things together.
Speaker:And honestly,
Speaker:there's not just one way to be lucky.
Speaker:So if you see somebody who you would quote unquote say
Speaker:is lucky.
Speaker:What they did is not the exact way you might do
Speaker:it to be lucky.
Speaker:The point is you've got to take action.
Speaker:There's no one idea or one time when that would happen,
Speaker:either you've just gotta be available for it.
Speaker:And the way you're available is to take action activity,
Speaker:brings opportunity.
Speaker:So get out there and put yourself in Lux path,
Speaker:by you being active,
Speaker:you're going to bring you an opportunity.
Speaker:And then you're going to be the one that someone is
Speaker:going to look at and say,
Speaker:wow, how did she get to be so lucky?
Speaker:That's a wrap.
Speaker:I bet get to the point kind of girl.
Speaker:And this is what you can expect from these quick mid-week
Speaker:sessions. Now it's your turn.
Speaker:Go out and fulfill that dream of yours.
Speaker:Share your handmade products with us.
Speaker:We want them,
