Gift biz unwrapped episode 43.
Speaker:I love being out and hearing a little Ching.
Speaker:Hi, this is John Lee Dumas of entrepreneur on fire,
Speaker:and you're listening to the gift of biz unwrapped.
Speaker:And now it's time to light it up.
Speaker:Welcome to gift biz,
Speaker:unwrapped your source for industry specific insights and advice to develop
Speaker:and grow your business.
Speaker:And now here's your host,
Speaker:Sue Monheit.
Speaker:Hi there.
Speaker:I'm Sue and welcome to the gift biz unwrapped podcast That
Speaker:you own a brick and mortar shop or you sell online
Speaker:or are just getting started.
Speaker:You'll discover new insight to gain traction and to grow your
Speaker:business. And today I have brought to you,
Speaker:Carrie
where she teaches people how to make a significant part-time income
Speaker:selling on eBay.
Speaker:Carrie is an eBay education specialist trained directly by eBay and
Speaker:is a top rated seller.
Speaker:She's been on E-bay radio and in eBay's YouTube video called
Speaker:we are E-bay.
Speaker:Carrie started her career as a menswear designer for major brands
Speaker:in the fashion industry today known as elegant KB on eBay.
Speaker:She's made enough money selling part-time to pay for her daughter's
Speaker:college education.
Speaker:How about that?
Speaker:Based on this success,
Speaker:Carrie created social selling mom to teach others how to support
Speaker:their families.
Speaker:Her favorite e-commerce site by far is guess what?
Speaker:E-bay. She believes that there are endless opportunities there for people
Speaker:to make money and help those they care about.
Speaker:She is also the eBay for charity coordinator at Marin school
Speaker:of the arts.
Speaker:Carrie, welcome to the show.
Speaker:Hi, Sue.
Speaker:Thanks for having me.
Speaker:Would you like to add anything to that intro before we
Speaker:get started?
Speaker:No, I think that was a good intro.
Speaker:Thanks so much.
Speaker:Well, it is exciting to hear about eBay and I can
Speaker:not wait to get started.
Speaker:As our listeners know,
Speaker:we like to align the conversation around the life of a
Speaker:motivational candle.
Speaker:It kind of gives us a little bit of a subtle
Speaker:different kind of view of you.
Speaker:The light shines on you while you share your stories and
Speaker:experiences. So Carrie,
Speaker:are you ready to light it up?
Speaker:I am ready.
Speaker:Wonderful. Well,
Speaker:let's start with a motivational candle.
Speaker:I'm going to pretend like I'm on eBay and I am
Speaker:looking for some beautiful candles and I happened upon a site
Speaker:because you just happened to have a candle site.
Speaker:You didn't know that now,
Speaker:did you not know if you were to tell me which
Speaker:candle to purchase,
Speaker:what color would it be and what would be the quote?
Speaker:Well, I love the openness of a classic white candle when
Speaker:it's lit and the flame is there.
Speaker:It symbolizes openness and peace and love.
Speaker:And the quote is use what you have.
Speaker:The full quote goes,
Speaker:start where you are,
Speaker:use what you have,
Speaker:do what you can.
Speaker:That is from Arthur Ashe,
Speaker:who was a tennis player.
Speaker:Tell me a little bit about how you would apply that
Speaker:quote. I really believe in using resources to the fullest potential,
Speaker:and I'll talk a little bit more about E-bay resources,
Speaker:but that's how I've been able to be a really busy
Speaker:mom, have a full-time job and have a part-time business where
Speaker:I was able to make enough money to do things for
Speaker:my family.
Speaker:Being able to be smart about using the resources and really
Speaker:looking at what you have.
Speaker:And sometimes it's not physical things or items sometimes the knowledge
Speaker:that you have inside of you or the desire that you
Speaker:have Got it.
Speaker:Well, listen,
Speaker:I am not wasting any more time because I know all
Speaker:of us are really interested in hearing what you have to
Speaker:say about eBay,
Speaker:but before we get started,
Speaker:we've talked a little bit about who our audience was pre-interview
Speaker:so you can have a feel for that already,
Speaker:but would you describe who this conversation is for in terms
Speaker:of potentially considering being a user of selling on eBay?
Speaker:Sure. I really feel like this E-bay site is especially wonderful
Speaker:for people who are creative and do hobbies and crafts.
Speaker:Almost everybody that I talked to who has a creative hobby
Speaker:looks at shops on eBay for supplies,
Speaker:because they know they can get very nice deals on the
Speaker:site. Many of the sellers don't have high overhead,
Speaker:so they're able to pass deals along to their customers and
Speaker:I've sold craft supplies and sewing notions and goodies like that.
Speaker:What's great is it is a community.
Speaker:And so if you're a crafter and if you want to
Speaker:sell things that you make,
Speaker:if you want to sell customized products that you make,
Speaker:eBay is an excellent place.
Speaker:It pretty much sounds like all of our listeners actually.
Speaker:Okay. So let's back up and I want to talk a
Speaker:little bit just about history of how you landed on eBay
Speaker:as the best e-commerce site.
Speaker:You know,
Speaker:just give us a little bit of your journey of how
Speaker:you discovered eBay and how you got started For me.
Speaker:Again, it goes back to family.
Speaker:We lost a dear loved one,
Speaker:someone who was a quilter,
Speaker:crafter and collector.
Speaker:And at that point in time,
Speaker:I just felt that all of these wonderful things should go
Speaker:to people that will care for them and give them their
Speaker:second life.
Speaker:You know,
Speaker:I don't want to put anything into a waste bin and
Speaker:send it out.
Speaker:There was a collection of books,
Speaker:crafting and cookbooks.
Speaker:And I said,
Speaker:you know what,
Speaker:let me just see what happens.
Speaker:I posted some of them on eBay and this was a
Speaker:while back.
Speaker:So books were still a very valuable item.
Speaker:And overnight,
Speaker:one of the books that I had it turned out was
Speaker:a first edition.
Speaker:It was a dessert cookbook and the bids had gone up
Speaker:to over $90.
Speaker:Wow. So,
Speaker:yeah. So that opened your eyes.
Speaker:Yeah. So,
Speaker:and that is one thing that's really about eBay is that
Speaker:there's the potential to sell at auction.
Speaker:It really can drive the price to a point where sometimes
Speaker:you can't believe it,
Speaker:A very heartwarming story actually,
Speaker:to be able to take something that was so precious within
Speaker:your family and make sure you can place it in the
Speaker:hands of somebody who's really going to care about it.
Speaker:Exactly. All right.
Speaker:And so then you started learning the ins and outs.
Speaker:Let's keep walking this path.
Speaker:What happened from there?
Speaker:That's true.
Speaker:True. And then because of my background in the fashion industry,
Speaker:and my knowledge is selling started selling clothing and accessories and
Speaker:things that people would give me or things that I had.
Speaker:And even as my children grew out of a certain kind
Speaker:of toy,
Speaker:they wanted to sell their toys on eBay so that they
Speaker:could get a new toy.
Speaker:You know,
Speaker:it was time to get rid of the Polly pockets and
Speaker:move on to the video games or whatever.
Speaker:So it was something that I was able to do part-time
Speaker:and then it evolved into more of a consignment selling business.
Speaker:So I've tried a little bit of that.
Speaker:And in doing that,
Speaker:I've sold everything from motorcycle parts to stoves,
Speaker:to larger pieces of furniture,
Speaker:chairs. And,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:once I got this E-bay bag,
Speaker:I'm like,
Speaker:Oh, I'm going to try that.
Speaker:I'm going to try that.
Speaker:And then I,
Speaker:at one point I said,
Speaker:well, I have all this knowledge.
Speaker:I really think that other people would see the opportunity of
Speaker:eBay if I could show them.
Speaker:And that's how I got into the EBA education specialists program.
Speaker:Got it.
Speaker:Okay. That's great.
Speaker:Because that gives us a little background and understanding of how
Speaker:you started on eBay and then lays the groundwork for what
Speaker:you're going to share with us.
Speaker:So let's talk about it.
Speaker:Why would you be choosing eBay over other platforms or what
Speaker:do you see as the value of eBay?
Speaker:If other people haven't considered there before?
Speaker:What I find with E-bay is that there is a huge
Speaker:community of shoppers.
Speaker:So when I put something on there,
Speaker:if it's something unique or something that somebody needs,
Speaker:there's 157 million active buyers on that site.
Speaker:Wow. That's a few you have stuff to use.
Speaker:So what I feel is when I go on eBay,
Speaker:I actively look for something.
Speaker:I know,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:how much money I want to spend today because I'm looking
Speaker:for an item or I see something,
Speaker:Oh, that's a great deal.
Speaker:So I think there's people on there in the mindset of
Speaker:shopping, some of the other shopping sites,
Speaker:I feel like there are a lot of lookers and there's
Speaker:also some larger fees.
Speaker:So the simplicity of E-bay,
Speaker:it's easy to list.
Speaker:You can do it from your mobile and they've gotten rid
Speaker:of any fees that you have to pay upfront to list
Speaker:as a new person on eBay,
Speaker:you can list up to 50 auctions per month for free,
Speaker:and then you pay a little fee on the end,
Speaker:a final value selling fee.
Speaker:So there's really very little overhead in getting started except for
Speaker:your time.
Speaker:But now that you can take the pictures,
Speaker:the mobile and list from your mobile,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:you don't have to be tied down to a desk.
Speaker:So, okay.
Speaker:So just to make sure I understand this,
Speaker:cause I have never sold anything on eBay,
Speaker:but you can set up an account and sell up to
Speaker:50 items at no cost each month,
Speaker:right? At no initial cost,
Speaker:right. But no initial cost.
Speaker:And then you don't pay anything upfront,
Speaker:but once that month is over anything you've actually sold.
Speaker:There's some type of amount that they pull out.
Speaker:Yeah. I can't get into the fee structure because it's very
Speaker:different based on which categories you sell in.
Speaker:But there is a small commission on that side and on
Speaker:the PayPal side.
Speaker:But overall,
Speaker:really your overhead,
Speaker:your startup costs are very small and you can test all
Speaker:kinds of things because if you put something up as an
Speaker:auction and it doesn't sell,
Speaker:you didn't pay anything.
Speaker:It was just a little bit of time invested.
Speaker:But if you put up something for auction or even a
Speaker:fixed price listing,
Speaker:which doesn't go into the bidding process and you get sales,
Speaker:you now know that there's a market for that item.
Speaker:And then you can run with that and try all different
Speaker:kinds of variations.
Speaker:So it's a really nice place to try things where you
Speaker:can get cash flow relatively quickly eat.
Speaker:It also has a seller protection policy,
Speaker:basically, as long as you describe the items accurately and ship
Speaker:within the amount of time that you've promised you're covered the
Speaker:person on the other end could claim they didn't receive it,
Speaker:but you're still going to get paid.
Speaker:Got it.
Speaker:So you talk about how you've been so successful that you
Speaker:just doing this part time,
Speaker:you've been able to pay for your daughter's college,
Speaker:Right. Which is exciting.
Speaker:It's so exciting.
Speaker:And we don't need to use specifically your example,
Speaker:but if someone were to do this,
Speaker:let's say nighttime weekends,
Speaker:cause they have a job during the day already.
Speaker:So there,
Speaker:they may even just be testing out their product just to
Speaker:see if people would be interested in it before they went
Speaker:full force into opening a shop or,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:something like that,
Speaker:meaning, meaning a retail shop,
Speaker:but let's say they were selling just part-time at night.
Speaker:And maybe on the weekends,
Speaker:can you equate some type of our input to dollars out
Speaker:like what's possible on eBay?
Speaker:What you need to do is kind of figure out the
Speaker:sweet spot.
Speaker:What I do is I start with research and I like
Speaker:to sell things for at least 25 to $35 based on
Speaker:how much I paid for them and how much I'm going
Speaker:to put my time into it.
Speaker:So what you would have to do to make $2,000
Speaker:a month on eBay is to find the inventory that adds
Speaker:up to that amount and then spend time listing it.
Speaker:It's not that hard to do if you have items that
Speaker:are going to sell.
Speaker:And the main part that I wanted to stress was really
Speaker:the research,
Speaker:because there's so much activity on that on eBay,
Speaker:you can easily do searches and look at what has sold
Speaker:in the past.
Speaker:I actually have a step-by-step guide and some pictures that I'd
Speaker:like to offer as a free gift for your listeners,
Speaker:where they can see in detail how to do that because
Speaker:it's really,
Speaker:if you can research it and you have similar items,
Speaker:those are the types of things that you want to try.
Speaker:And sometimes you want to try really unique things.
Speaker:For example,
Speaker:there are personalized items,
Speaker:there are customized items and you could even bundle things like
Speaker:having a craft kit of some type,
Speaker:with a booklet that you've written and really make it something
Speaker:special. Okay.
Speaker:So we're going to talk about your freebie more at the
Speaker:end. That's very generous of you.
Speaker:Thank you so much.
Speaker:So we'll,
Speaker:we'll get all the details on that before we're done here.
Speaker:Let's talk just a little bit more about the types of
Speaker:products you think do work on eBay.
Speaker:And if there's anything that you think doesn't really work from
Speaker:your experience,
Speaker:From my experience,
Speaker:if you want to get a little significant income going,
Speaker:what I think doesn't work is having a garage sale.
Speaker:What I call garage sale mentality.
Speaker:We're not selling things for a buck or five bucks.
Speaker:You want to get products that are unique,
Speaker:that are desirable and you want to set a nice asking
Speaker:price for those.
Speaker:So of course,
Speaker:all kinds of brand items,
Speaker:fashion items,
Speaker:banana Republic,
Speaker:Uggs, Vera Bradley.
Speaker:There's a lot of higher end designer brands that sell really
Speaker:well. Levi's casual wear.
Speaker:So those,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:I'm going into the clothing area because I've sold a lot
Speaker:of clothing and shoes on eBay.
Speaker:So that's a great way to get cashflow,
Speaker:but then there's more specialized items,
Speaker:things that you create yourself.
Speaker:Or in my case,
Speaker:I had a lot of vintage sewing notions and people are
Speaker:collecting that there are trends right now where lace is popular
Speaker:and you can go in and sell bundles of lace.
Speaker:You can also do things with putting together lots.
Speaker:So I have a lot of higher end,
Speaker:nicer vintage jewelry pieces that I can sell individually.
Speaker:But then I also have a bunch of jewelry pieces that
Speaker:I could have put into a lot,
Speaker:put it on auction and people can use that for crafting.
Speaker:So that's what I mean about being really unique and creative.
Speaker:Those things are just sitting here.
Speaker:It's a nice collection.
Speaker:I'm not going to have the time to use those things
Speaker:in my crafts.
Speaker:So I'll put those on eBay and get a little cash
Speaker:flow. And somebody has a beautiful batch of buttons or rhinestone
Speaker:pins that they can craft with.
Speaker:That's a great idea.
Speaker:It's also brought to mind to me,
Speaker:something that I hadn't really even thought of until you started
Speaker:talking and that is give busy listeners,
Speaker:if you have a retail shop or a craft room,
Speaker:let's start with retail shop and it's end of the season
Speaker:and you have stuff that just didn't sell through the season
Speaker:and you have one of this and two of this,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:and just random things.
Speaker:What a great place to go ahead and get rid of
Speaker:that inventory.
Speaker:Just post it right on eBay.
Speaker:So it kind of compliments what you're already doing in shop
Speaker:and moving it out so that you have space for the
Speaker:new collections that you're bringing in.
Speaker:So that could be a great option.
Speaker:I'm also thinking of someone like a knitting shop or quilters.
Speaker:You know,
Speaker:if you,
Speaker:again, just have some random bolts leftover or you've cut them
Speaker:into squares for quilting or just,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:you'd use them for a yarn class and you have semi
Speaker:portions of yarn like Harry saying,
Speaker:put them into a lot and get rid of them.
Speaker:I mean,
Speaker:what a great option and crafters always need a little bit
Speaker:of this,
Speaker:a little bit of that.
Speaker:So perfect way for you guys to clean up shop a
Speaker:little bit and make money at the same time.
Speaker:Wow. Sue,
Speaker:that's great.
Speaker:There's really lots of ideas.
Speaker:Do some research.
Speaker:And if you are a brick and mortar and you do
Speaker:sell some clearance or lots,
Speaker:or even some regular merchandise,
Speaker:you can brand yourself in that package,
Speaker:even though they purchased on eBay,
Speaker:you can put a note card in that package that you
Speaker:ship out and tell them to call you,
Speaker:look on your online store and give offers for them to
Speaker:keep coming back to you,
Speaker:either on your eBay store,
Speaker:maybe exclusive monthly or weekly auctions,
Speaker:where they can get great deals or bring them over into
Speaker:your brick and mortar,
Speaker:The website,
Speaker:they like what they're seeing and they want more.
Speaker:That's an excellent idea.
Speaker:And that's really good.
Speaker:Cause I was thinking just eBay as being one off,
Speaker:one off sale here,
Speaker:one off sale there,
Speaker:but I could see where you could build loyal customers depending
Speaker:on whether they continually need your product.
Speaker:It's true.
Speaker:And as you know,
Speaker:you can keep eBay open 24 seven.
Speaker:So you can go to a conference or go off to
Speaker:a scrapbooking retreat and leave your shop open.
Speaker:And I love being out on the weekend and hearing on
Speaker:my cell phone,
Speaker:the little Ching,
Speaker:Oh my gosh,
Speaker:I didn't even know this,
Speaker:what fun then it's like,
Speaker:Oh, that's fine.
Speaker:Cause I'll just ship on Monday.
Speaker:Or you can also have people that you can train to
Speaker:ship or,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:if you're going to be away for extended time,
Speaker:but it's just another channel for you to build customers and
Speaker:to test products,
Speaker:to test things like the lots to test bundled items and
Speaker:definitely custom items and personalized products.
Speaker:They are on eBay.
Speaker:I see people ordering invitations.
Speaker:There's a lot of printables that can be sold as well.
Speaker:Interesting. So it is,
Speaker:that's where the whole research comes into play.
Speaker:We have a lot of products you're not even thinking would
Speaker:fly on eBay,
Speaker:but there's a whole testing ground to see if it's true
Speaker:or not.
Speaker:That's right.
Speaker:Wait, that's the beauty of it.
Speaker:It's that you can do it for very low cost and
Speaker:then, you know,
Speaker:just make sure you study your shipping methods.
Speaker:Initially you want to ship things that are easy to ship.
Speaker:I wouldn't recommend starting off with really fragile glass champagne,
Speaker:flutes, things that I've done with no problem,
Speaker:but it's so much,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:I'm just kind of like on edge until I hear that
Speaker:the package arrives.
Speaker:Yeah. You know,
Speaker:you want to start with things that are regular size unbreakable
Speaker:and not over a couple of pounds.
Speaker:I use USBs free packaging.
Speaker:And with that,
Speaker:it's super easy because you buy your shipping label right through
Speaker:the eBay site and the tracking number gets uploaded right there.
Speaker:So your customer knows exactly when it was shipped.
Speaker:They can click on the tracking number and see that the
Speaker:package is on the way.
Speaker:Perfect. What a nice smooth system that is.
Speaker:It's pretty smooth.
Speaker:Give biz listeners one other idea for you guys that I
Speaker:used to use in the past when I was shipping pretty
Speaker:delicate pieces that I needed to make sure arrived on the
Speaker:other end properly to test my shipping methods.
Speaker:I would ship to myself or ship to a relative across
Speaker:country and have them take a picture when they opened the
Speaker:box. So a couple ideas for you,
Speaker:if you're not exactly sure how to ship.
Speaker:Okay. So now Carrie,
Speaker:I think we've wet the palette of everybody about potential opportunities
Speaker:here with eBay.
Speaker:How would someone get started?
Speaker:Are there three steps that you suggest for someone who's never
Speaker:done anything?
Speaker:You know,
Speaker:they might've purchased before,
Speaker:but they would just be getting started for their business.
Speaker:What would the steps be that they should take?
Speaker:So if you really,
Speaker:really back up to the baby baby steps,
Speaker:okay. So make sure you have a PayPal account that is
Speaker:the safest way to pay almost everybody on eBay.
Speaker:It accepts PayPal.
Speaker:When you go to do your research,
Speaker:you must set up your eBay account because there are going
Speaker:to be people listening that have any bank account,
Speaker:but they're not set up as a seller.
Speaker:So what you need to do is change your account to
Speaker:a seller account and link it to the PayPal account and
Speaker:what that will give you the ability to when you search,
Speaker:you can see completed and sold items because you're not interested
Speaker:so much in what's for sale on eBay,
Speaker:people, Mark,
Speaker:their things really high.
Speaker:They Mark the things really low.
Speaker:Everybody has a different scenario,
Speaker:but you want to see what the marketplace rate is for
Speaker:something you need to look at sold items.
Speaker:So just to clarify,
Speaker:if I already had an eBay account and I wanted to
Speaker:go on,
Speaker:I would reclaim my account as a seller.
Speaker:Do you create another account or a separate account?
Speaker:I know people that do have multiple accounts,
Speaker:but to keep things simple,
Speaker:I would say,
Speaker:just make your account a seller account.
Speaker:It's not going to be really visible to anybody,
Speaker:but you and then you could purchase or sell off of
Speaker:that account then.
Speaker:Exactly. And you know,
Speaker:my very next thing would be now,
Speaker:as you said,
Speaker:shipping to yourself to see how it comes.
Speaker:My very next thing that I tell everybody that I train
Speaker:is, okay,
Speaker:now you're set up,
Speaker:let's do some research next,
Speaker:let's go shopping because you want to know what the process
Speaker:is like.
Speaker:Yeah. You want to experience it from the buyer's standpoint.
Speaker:And there's almost always something you can get on there.
Speaker:There's water filters or printer cartridges or whatever,
Speaker:or you could buy something nice for yourself.
Speaker:Once you get shopping,
Speaker:you'll get a couple of feedback.
Speaker:People will leave feedback for you and you'll start seeing how
Speaker:it is being a member of eBay.
Speaker:And then once you have your research done,
Speaker:rarely you can go ahead and get the listing written.
Speaker:Once you're in the double digits on your feedback,
Speaker:you are really ready to do some of the things we
Speaker:talked about.
Speaker:Test some new products and price selling some clearance items.
Speaker:Okay. All right.
Speaker:We're not going to go into all of this on this
Speaker:call because I know I like to keep it within a
Speaker:certain amount of time.
Speaker:And I know your time is short today,
Speaker:Carrie, but do you then would the next step after all
Speaker:of this,
Speaker:after you're established on the platform,
Speaker:you're going,
Speaker:you're confident.
Speaker:Do you then by any chance,
Speaker:promote your site over through social media networks like Facebook or
Speaker:anywhere else to drive people over to E-bay.
Speaker:I absolutely do.
Speaker:And I will tell you some of the sites that I
Speaker:find huge success with are my own personal blog.
Speaker:Oh, good.
Speaker:Okay. Well,
Speaker:I look at the traffic reports on eBay.
Speaker:If you have a blog and you just put up listed
Speaker:today and you know,
Speaker:I was doing vintage sewing patterns and there's collectors out there
Speaker:for those.
Speaker:And then I would just put basically a picture that I,
Speaker:the same picture I used on eBay.
Speaker:And I would say,
Speaker:here's what I have listed today.
Speaker:I really liked this one because dah,
Speaker:dah, dah,
Speaker:and find it on eBay that was working for me.
Speaker:You know,
Speaker:they would actually search for vintage apron pattern.
Speaker:They'd come to my blog and then click over to eBay
Speaker:and see that I had more vintage patterns.
Speaker:So if you have a blog,
Speaker:be sure to include a section of your blog for your
Speaker:eBay postings.
Speaker:And then Pinterest is excellent.
Speaker:You know,
Speaker:they make it easy.
Speaker:And I also think that people on Pinterest are open to
Speaker:shopping and Twitter.
Speaker:I don't just do an RSS feed on Twitter of my
Speaker:listings. You'll see some people doing that on eBay.
Speaker:I actually like to put a couple of product photos and
Speaker:say, this is a really nice product.
Speaker:Or, you know,
Speaker:just give it a little bit more of a pleat basically.
Speaker:So that way I get people back to eBay and I
Speaker:also use Instagram is a great way to showcase products.
Speaker:So you do what you can.
Speaker:That goes back to my quote.
Speaker:I'm just,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:doing what you can,
Speaker:but those are the top things that I do to promote.
Speaker:I'm not trying to overwhelm our listeners either.
Speaker:I'm just closing the loop that just when you're up and
Speaker:selling, there are more opportunities to increase your sales to through
Speaker:free media platforms,
Speaker:such as all the ones Carrie just listed.
Speaker:Excellent. All right,
Speaker:Carrie, we're going to move on into our reflection section.
Speaker:If you can think back,
Speaker:what is a natural trait that you possess that you think
Speaker:has helped you to get to the place that you are
Speaker:now? I've always been big on learning new things.
Speaker:So once I get started,
Speaker:I'm like,
Speaker:Oh, I got to learn that I've got to learn this.
Speaker:So like I said,
Speaker:I started selling one type of item on eBay.
Speaker:And then I'm like,
Speaker:Oh, maybe I should learn how to sell on eBay auto.
Speaker:For some reason I'm selling motorcycle parts.
Speaker:I have this hunger inside of me to learn more about
Speaker:things and to constantly be trying new things,
Speaker:eBay really stuck with me because I was able to be
Speaker:successful in the things that I tried.
Speaker:And I really feel like,
Speaker:like I said earlier,
Speaker:once I get that inside of me,
Speaker:I get really excited about it.
Speaker:I want to share what I've learned.
Speaker:Got it.
Speaker:And what tool do you use regularly?
Speaker:Let's say besides E-bay now to keep you and let's focus
Speaker:on just the business aspect,
Speaker:I think,
Speaker:cause this will be helpful to keep you productive and moving
Speaker:forward, Say a tool for productivity is staying organized and I
Speaker:use Google drive.
Speaker:I set up folders in there to keep myself organized with
Speaker:the photos that I've of products that I have listed the
Speaker:photos with products that I've sold.
Speaker:I keep records of the product descriptions in case I come
Speaker:across another similar item.
Speaker:I can just boom,
Speaker:put that in there.
Speaker:So I really like Google drive and the fact that I
Speaker:can access it from my computer or from my phone,
Speaker:because I'm doing things like taking the description minute and putting
Speaker:that into a blog post,
Speaker:I can just kind of copy and paste that as I
Speaker:need to no Need to do the work twice.
