Shownotes

Grief can be overwhelming, but what if we could still maintain a relationship with our loved ones even after they’ve passed? This episode of A Call For Love explores how we can continue to communicate and find peace, even without their physical presence.

I am also joined by my special guest, Lyndsay Jenkinson, a gifted medium and energy healer, who has helped many people connect with their loved ones on the other side. Lyndsay shares her story of loss and how she has embraced her spiritual gifts to help others heal through these soul connections.

Together, we discuss how we can keep the lines of communication open, whether through speaking out loud, journaling, or simply staying mindful of the signs and synchronicities that remind us our loved ones are still near.

In this episode, you’ll hear about:

  • How to recognize and stay open to signs from your loved ones, whether it’s through memories, dreams, or everyday moments.
  • My personal story of speaking with my mom, who has passed, and how it shifted my experience of grief.
  • Practical tools for maintaining a soul connection with those who have passed — from speaking aloud to journaling and meditating.
  • The importance of honouring your grief while finding comfort in the love that never fades.
  • Insights from Lyndsay Jenkinson on mediumship and how connecting with those we’ve lost can bring profound healing and hope.

This episode is an invitation to embrace the mystery of grief, to hold space for it in your life, and to find ways to stay connected with those you love. Whether you’ve lost someone recently or many years ago, I hope this conversation brings you a sense of peace and helps you realize that love truly never ends.

Linda Orsini:

Music. Welcome back to a call for love. Today you're going to learn about grief, but not just about grief, but how to connect with those who we have lost. You can connect with people who have passed away, and so join this conversation as we dive deeper into grief and how to heal by staying connected with those we love. Today, I would like to welcome Lyndsay Jenkinson, and she is aware of many hats. She is a multi faceted designer with experience in jewelry design, interior and industrial design. She is also a Candler and owns her own Candle Company, and during the pandemic years, Lyndsay found herself embracing her faith and spiritual gifts and sharing them with people beyond her family and her desire to help others has led her to become certified in energy healing, divine guidance And mediumship. Welcome, Lyndsay. Welcome to a call for love.

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

Thank you.

Linda Orsini:

Today, I'd like to begin the conversation with something that has been showing up around me, and that is the topic of grief. And to begin, what does grief mean to you? Because we and we're mature woman here. So we are no stranger to grief. So what does grief mean to you?

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

Grief, to me, is a loss. It is also a longing. It is a passing on to another phase of your life. It's learning to to live beyond that loss as well. When we lose people, you don't ever, especially if someone's really close to you, you don't ever, really get over it, but you have to learn how to live with it and learn to make room for it in your life.

Linda Orsini:

I love that. Make room for it, right? Because it's not going

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

to go away. Oh, no, no. Yeah.

Linda Orsini:

Interesting. What led you to dive into this field of grief?

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

Well, my friends used to joke around, first of all and say that during, you know, the movie, Four Weddings and a Funeral, people used to say that mine should be four funerals and a wedding. I don't know if that comes from having older parents being the youngest of a very large family, but, you know, there was a lot of you know, it seems like we were going to funerals non stop. When I was 14, my father died, died very tragically and very suddenly. And even though I have the beliefs that I do, it was really hard to deal with it, and I've learned a lot over the years, over you know, sort of what grief can do to you and how to how to better live with it. I won't say get over it, because you don't, but how to better live with it. And I feel that a lot of people sometimes get stuck. It can, it can derail people, and it doesn't have to, but it's hard, and I know that. So I guess we're at when the pandemic hit, and there was so much death, so many people dying from this awful disease, and people were scared and anxious. And at home, I felt that, you know what I knew about grief and spiritual gifts and things that I had, that I thought it was time to maybe, you know, not just keep it for my family and that I wanted to help people through their own grief.

Linda Orsini:

That's beautiful. How do you support others through dealing with and holding space for their grief?

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

As a friend, I will always be, you know, there to talk and to listen, but I am also a medium. So my favorite thing to do is to connect people with that soul connection that they're craving because people die and sometimes you don't get a chance to say goodbye, or sometimes there are words that are left unsaid. There are also times where it's just you want to know that that person is okay. So I think one thing that I can can do to help people is to offer them the opportunity to try to connect with that, that loved one, and receive messages. And I think that healing helps them to move on, and also to give them more hope and faith in in their everyday that those souls are still there. They're still they still love them, they're still around. And I think that's really important. You'll still miss them, even if they're not in your every day. But I think people need to know that those loved ones and the people that we've lost, that they don't ever completely leave. They're there. It's just they're there differently.

Linda Orsini:

So interesting. You say that because I used to call my mom every evening and she's passed, and so I think it was just last night I went for a walk, and I had this inclination, this desire, to call my mother and. And so I said out loud, okay, Mom, let's have a talk. And I was just having a conversation with her, and you know, I went from that moment of deep longing and missing to Lynn chuckling, because I knew exactly how she would respond or what she was saying.

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

And I think that's one of the best things you can do, is to continue to talk to people. Because you do, you will know what their their answers are, but, you know, say it out loud, or even just talk to them in your mind. I will often do that before I go to sleep. Have a conversation with one of my deceased parents. You know, just sort of in you know whether I'm hearing anything back or whatever, just expressing it, and you know how they'll respond, talk to them. So you can also do it with journaling, as if you're writing them a letter, and that is a way to maintain a connection. But I honestly believe that that energy of you thinking of that person and bringing them to your mind and communicating with them helps them to be closer to you. Mediums will often say, if there's someone you want to connect with at a reading, think about them before you go to the reading. You know, talk to them a bit, and it does. It attracts. It attracts their energy. So whether you're going to a medium or not, you miss someone, you want to have a chat with your mom or your dad or your husband, or you want to tell your daughter how your day went, if your daughter's deceased, you know, do those things, whether it's writing a letter, writing in a journal, speaking out loud. I think that's a really great way to to help yourself and stay connected with their energy.

Linda Orsini:

Yeah, I think we forget. I think we forget to do that. Do you think so?

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

I think so. I think so. I think people also will sometimes feel embarrassed to do it. Think, Oh, someone's going to think, I'm not, you know, talking out loud to someone, but if it makes you feel good, and it No, there is no harm, I think there's nothing wrong with it. And I think people do forget, like there, well, people probably don't pray to God, or, you know, whomever they believe any higher power to be as much as they used to, too. And I think oftentimes people forget until they're in a time of crisis, and this is almost the same sort of thing, you need to talk to someone, someone who's not there. But I think you, if you keep up those conversations and you do it regularly, I think it's healing on all levels.

Linda Orsini:

It really is healing on all levels. I have a question that I've I've been thinking about so my mother in law, wonderful woman, wonderful woman, and I loved her dearly. She has passed as well. Everyone's passed in terms of parents and when she was in the material world, I know she didn't want to give things away, but now that she is in another realm, I have to think that she wouldn't mind giving things away. Do they stay where they were in the material world, or do they kind of evolve when they have passed into the next realm? That's

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

a very interesting question. They do evolve, and I think they do see the bigger picture. Their personalities are still their personalities, you know. And if someone's a jokester or a prankster, it will come through say in a reading or something. And even if someone's very artistic, even how they would communicate, say with the medium or whatever they that will come through in different ways. You can almost pin at pinpoint, oh, this person's creative, or they like to cook, or whatever, by some of the messages that would come through. But their personalities are still their personalities. I can give you one of my own personal examples. Would be, I went to a medium, and my mother and I had had some misunderstandings, and I thought, you know, I wonder if she gets it now, like I feel like she should, Surely she gets it and that these are my beliefs, but without any prompting or anything, it was so refreshing to have this medium say and you know your mom gets you now. She understands. She knows where you were coming from and XYZ, and she accepts that now, and I and that, for me, was huge, and it's, it's so I think it's good to hear that and to know so I think that, and that's where to sometimes, if, if, say, someone has committed a crime or something, they will often at that level, like, if they've passed on, sometimes there's energies that are stuck, but if they've passed on, they know their wrongdoing and there was a reason for that happening, and they see that it was wrong, and they're sorry for anyone that was hurt down here. But usually the reason that had to happen was because it was something they needed to learn. So they had to go through that experience.

Linda Orsini:

Who. Who doesn't have regrets, or who doesn't have the unspoken conversation, and to know that is really comforting.

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

It is, it is. And I would have to say, one of my greatest readings that I did, I felt, as far as grade as being really healing was for someone who had been abused by a parent, and of course, I was not aware of this situation, but it came through in the reading and that person said for them, it was a changing moment that that their parent had apologized and realized that it was wrong. And I think that's the thing. Like, we do have regrets, but I also feel that we're here to learn. So it's, it's all laid out in your your master plan, your this is your soul contract. And when you get up there to yourself like you still see the people you have, your family of people, the personalities are there, but you're all like the new and improved, 100% better spirit, because you see the bigger picture. And you know why these things happened?

Linda Orsini:

Thank goodness. Yes, I but the goal would be to see the bigger picture

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

here. Yeah, okay, so, you know, one thing that does come up for me is sometimes people are afraid when they've done something wrong, and they're afraid that their parents know about it. Now, yeah, you know, oh, my god, do my parents know? And is this going to come out in the reading, you know. And I always say to people like spirit will, will only ever tell you what is like good for you. And I always do a prayer first too, saying, I want healing messages and no negative energies. But that is so funny that even people who are living go, oh man, you know. And then to realize that, you know, in the greater scheme of things. You know, if, as long as you're still aspiring to be a good person and the best version of you, these things are forgiven. And you know, yes, your parents now probably know your whole story, but they're not up there waiting to give you this. You know, spanking when you get up there. You know they understand. So your parents, your loved ones, whomever. So I,

Linda Orsini:

you know, I had this I want to share this story. I had a friend who passed away, and the last text he sent me was at 111 Oh, yeah. And so I was in at his funeral. His name was Paul. We called him painter Paul. And in the funeral, just randomly, I looked at the clock and it said 111 and now, whenever I see 111 I say, Hi, Paul,

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

that's beautiful. That's beautiful. And I totally believe in these signs and synchronicities. Some people will associate dragonflies like I had a client who'd associated dragonflies with their mother. Their mother had passed, and their cleaning lady came in and didn't realize that the mother had passed, but for whatever reason, the cleaning lady left her a prayer book and a fridge magnet that was in the shape of a dragon or dragonfly. Now, to me, that is divine intervention coming in there to give you a message that your mom's okay, you know. And these things do happen a lot. Some people look for dimes, for feathers, or a song playing on the radio over and over again. That was something that meant something to you. And I've had a I've I've done actually reading for someone where their daughter came through showing me a purple butterfly. And when they went to the visitation, there was a purple butterfly there very prominently on a bouquet of flowers. And that was their way of knowing that she sees them, she's there with them.

Linda Orsini:

That's comforting. Again, very Oh, I if you are very doubtful, then that really confirms.

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

I think everybody can, can receive signs. It just depends on being open to it. And I think there are people who aren't even open to it, who receive signs, they just don't recognize them. So it's being open to it and recognizing it, and I think that this is all evidence, and it's helping and healing for those who've lost loved ones and want that soul connection, even if it's just for a second.

Linda Orsini:

Yes, do you think that when you reach out and speak, even if it's for a moment, for that soul connection, do you think that you said everyone and I do believe that can do that I feel as I've seen in my life, maybe people who don't. Have that faith. Once they've lost somebody who they've loved, they kind of gain that I'm not sure I know anyone who hasn't lost somebody and never ever felt their presence.

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

That's true, like I I've seen a lot of believers and non believers, you know, over the years, and people who are non believers are, you know, they even, they will say, you know, how do you make sense of this? Like and then they will come to accept, and I think people, usually, who've had someone pass on, they the non believers, would probably say, Oh, they're just desperate. So, you know, they're looking for it. But I feel that that's being open to it and recognizing it, and I think that that often is a turning for people, is when you've had that loss and you're you're craving that reconnection, and it happens, and then I think people start to question, and then bit by bit, things will come to you to help You explore that and and that area of your grief and things will help you. I've had people who've had just pets pass away, and it's opened them up to this idea that this the spirit, the soul of the animal or the person is still around. And just through losing that pet, that was like their child, brought them to the point of yearning and wanting to know more. It opened them up. Do

Linda Orsini:

you think that, because I've heard conflicting viewpoints of this, is there a spirit in the animal kingdom? Yes,

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

yes. And I would actually have to say I've had so many times doing readings where people's pets come through, someone's mother will be there with this tuxedo cat, and it turns out the mother and the tuxedo cat died the same day, and I have no clue about this. I don't even know, I don't know anything about the person I'm doing the reading for, and I'll be like your mom is presenting to me and she's holding a tuxedo cat. Does that mean anything to you? And it happens time and time again. It even happened to me once I had had a near death experience, and I believe that I did cross over to the other side, and people that I saw there were my father, my grandmother, my other grandmother, and then there were these dogs with my father. And for some reason I couldn't explain the dogs, and I told my mother, and then my mother said to me, Well, did they look like this? And then she showed me pictures in an encyclopedia of Irish Wolfhounds. I said, That's exactly the dog which to me, were a little bit frightening looking, but they seemed happy and pleasant, you know, with my dad, well, my dad had Irish Wolfhounds growing up. So to me, those spirits are there and they go to where, like they it's all the same, whether it's animal like your pets go to where you go to that they have souls and spirits too.

Linda Orsini:

You know, when you said that, I got chills down my spine, my, my, my friend calls them God bumps, God

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

pumps, yes. I of someone else I know calls them Angel chills or angel bumps, yeah.

Linda Orsini:

And I asked somebody once what that means, and they said it's confirmation for yes, for what you're thinking. So I always listen to those Angel bumps or God bumps or whatever. When I get chills, I'm like, okay, stop, notice what happened before, and then really register that

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

that subs. I do the same, and I think it's absolutely true, and I do very much take it as a as a confirmation also, yeah, so

Linda Orsini:

interesting. That's another sign. It is another sign, yeah, I have a question for you. So if people want to communicate with those who've gone away seeing a medium is a very powerful thing, but we can do our own if we wanted to learn. I mean, I feel like I have, I have some of those gifts as well, but if somebody wanted to tap into their mediumship. Could you give them a little piece of advice?

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

Yes, I would say the first thing is, there's lots of information out there. There are some flakes out there, and there are some real people, I would if you're going to learn and take a course more on on mediumship, I would look for referral from somebody that you know and trust, or even if you got a good vibe. I've had situations where I felt very negative or something didn't feel right in my gut. I thought, No, this isn't the person for me. The other tip that I would have to say is, even if you start. Are, you know, dabbling around when you're reading books, because there's lots of books. I mean, you don't have to take a course from someone, but I just think it helps to structure you and also talk about the ethics of it and things too. But I would say the number one thing that I would say is to say prayers before and after. So open the space with a prayer, welcoming in you know, the divine creator, source, whatever goddess you know, guy, or whatever you identify with, and to welcome in the you know spirit guides or guardian angels to help guide you, to specify that you're protected by Archangel Michael, or if you have an equivalent in your faith, and also to say that you only want healing messages, only loving and healing messages to come through, and then when you and then when you're finished, close the space, and that'll help you. Because sometimes, for people who have those sort of spiritual gifts, sometimes it's hard to learn to go into it and go out of it. And I think the hardest thing is, if it's if you start to become that way and you things will start happening. Sometimes you'll get bombarded, and you need to protect yourself and close things off. So I think is to do it in in goodwill and good faith, but to say that out loud in a prayer, to open the space and then sort of reaffirm that and express gratitude in your closing prayer.

Linda Orsini:

Well, that is so interesting, because I say a prayer and I invite in, you know, those who I want to connect with, and it only makes sense to have the bookends, and I've never done the closing. Actually, maybe I've said, well, thank you so and so, but I didn't properly feel like a defined sense of closure. So I am definitely going to add that to my

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

my that was something I had to learn, because as a younger person, I was bombarded to the point that I felt like it was affecting my everyday life, and I needed to be able to shut it off. So

Linda Orsini:

interesting, alright, so this has been a very valuable it's a conversation that people, if they're not actually talking about, they're thinking about. And so it brings it to the open, you know, opening us up to it. Now, for my guests, I've been inviting this question, and I would like to ask you this question. So a call for love is about being aware of the state of your being so you're very attuned and spiritually aligned. So when you are feeling one of those lower vibrations of fear or separation or anything anger, jealousy, how do you shift? How do you shift yourself to a higher frequency, which is a call for love? The two

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

main things that I do is, I've believe in getting out with nature, getting your feet on the grass, getting grounded. That's very important for me. The other thing that I will do is I will meditate, because I feel that that is just my mind goes a mile a minute, and sometimes meditating helps to just slow things down and get any anxiety or or or worry, out of there, any doubt, any lower vibration. And then sometimes, when I'm really stuck, I will look for a workshop or something that will help me. And I have to say, I loved, I did your breathing workshop last weekend, and I loved that. And I would highly recommend something like that for people to do to have a release, because, you know you're maybe you're blocked, right? And that's why the negative energies are blocking you.

Linda Orsini:

Yeah, it's those are, those are my go tos, and I'm so glad that you mentioned them, because we forget, yeah. Or, you know, the weather like today, as we record this, the weather is gorgeous, but you know, it's not going to be gorgeous every day.

Lyndsay Jenkinson:

No, no, that's true. An adequate sleep. Sorry, that has to that's for me. That's like medicine. I need adequate sleep.

Linda Orsini:

Well, sleep is medicine, and food is medicine. Everything with intention can become medicine. So I would like to thank you for being on a call for love, and I will list your links in the show notes and from my heart to yours. Namaste. You.
