This story was inspired by a memory of a hike my sister I took through the Drakensberg Mountains in South Africa.

We hiked and puffed, panted and endured... and then an old lady strode by, climbing up the mountain path, a bundle of sticks strapped on her back. She smiled, said hello, and kept going.

That amazing woman has stuck with me since.
