GET THE DIVORCE CRASH COURSE!

In this mini episode of How Not To Suck At Divorce, Andrea Rappaport and family law attorney Morgan L. Stogsdill introduce something they’ve been quietly working on for months: the brand-new Divorce Crash Course (DCC).

This project has truly been a labor of love—built to give people going through divorce the information most attorneys simply don’t have time to walk you through.

And yes… this episode starts with Andrea surviving a spring break indoor water park, wearing airplane-sized noise-canceling headphones, smelling like pond water, and nearly losing her dignity.

But once the laughter settles, Andrea and Morgan dive into something that could change the way you navigate your divorce.

The Divorce Crash Course was created to help people avoid the most common—and most expensive—mistakes made during divorce.

Because the truth is:

Most people enter divorce with no roadmap, no strategy, and no idea what they don’t know yet.

That’s where the DCC comes in.

What Is the Divorce Crash Course?

The Divorce Crash Course is a private podcast paired with a downloadable guidebook designed to walk you step-by-step through the divorce process.

Inside the Crash Course, Andrea and Morgan break down the biggest issues people face in divorce and provide practical tools to help you make smarter decisions from the beginning.

Unlike typical divorce resources, the DCC combines:

  1. a private podcast you can listen to anytime
  2. a printable guidebook
  3. clickable resources and templates
  4. step-by-step guidance on navigating divorce

The goal?

To give you the same strategic insight Morgan gives her clients in a way that’s accessible, clear, and affordable.

Why This Divorce Crash Course Is Different

Andrea and Morgan spent hours building this program because they know how overwhelming divorce can feel.

Instead of leaving people to figure things out alone, the Divorce Crash Course provides:

  1. A clear roadmap for navigating divorce
  2. Guidance on how to communicate with your attorney
  3. Tools to help you save money on legal fees
  4. Templates to organize your finances and parenting plans
  5. Insider tips on avoiding costly divorce mistakes

And thanks to the support of OurFamilyWizard and Soberlink, the program is available for a fraction of what similar legal resources cost.

What You'll Learn in the Divorce Crash Course

The Divorce Crash Course addresses some of the most common questions people have during divorce, including:

How to Save Money on Divorce Attorney Fees

Learn how to communicate with your attorney efficiently so you’re spending money where it matters most.

What to Do With the Family Home

Should you keep the house or sell it? The course walks through how to think about this decision logically and strategically.

How to Organize Your Divorce Finances

The guidebook includes a custom marital balance sheet template that helps you track assets, debts, and financial information before speaking with your attorney.

Parenting Plans and Custody Agreements

Divorce often becomes most emotional when discussing parenting time.

The course includes:

  1. Common court-approved parenting schedules
  2. Key provisions people forget to include in parenting agreements
  3. Tips for negotiating custody arrangements effectively

The Most Common Divorce Mistakes

Andrea and Morgan also break down the most frequent—and expensive—mistakes people make during divorce and how to avoid them.

What's Included in the Divorce Crash Course

When you purchase the Divorce Crash Course, you’ll receive:

  1. A private podcast with five guided episodes
  2. A downloadable guidebook with clickable resources
  3. A divorce balance sheet template
  4. Custody schedule examples
  5. Tools to help you communicate with your attorney and your ex

Once purchased, the private podcast can be added directly to your preferred podcast app so you can listen just like a normal show.

Andrea recommends listening to one episode at a time and working through the guidebook alongside it.

Frequently Asked Question:

Do I Need the New Divorce Crash Course if I Bought the Old One?

This is the question Andrea has received most frequently.

The answer: Yes, the new Divorce Crash Course is different.

While some concepts may overlap with previous guides, this new version contains completely new content, additional tools, and a private podcast format that makes it easier to absorb the information step-by-step.

Why Andrea and Morgan Created This

Andrea went through divorce herself.

Morgan has spent nearly two decades practicing family law.

Between them, they’ve seen the same painful patterns over and over again:

People making expensive mistakes simply because they didn’t know what questions to ask.

The Divorce Crash Course was built to change that.

It’s designed to give people the knowledge and tools they need to move through divorce with more clarity, confidence, and control.

A Little Humor Along the Way

This mini episode wouldn’t be complete without the signature How Not To Suck At Divorce humor.

Between discussing the Divorce Crash Course, Andrea shares:

  1. Her hatred of indoor water parks
  2. The questionable hygiene of spring break crowds
  3. Wearing pilot-style headphones in public to survive the noise
  4. And the moment a stranger at Dunkin’ Donuts asked if she was her kids’ great grandmother

Because if you’re going to survive divorce…

You might as well laugh along the way.

Andrea Rappaport (:

do you know what I cannot handle more than water

My excitement for this labor of love that we birthed this week without an epidural,

Morgan Stogsdill (:

so this is one of our newly famous mini episodes. And I actually get to join today. I am so excited to be here, but I'm more excited to share something with our listeners about you, Andrea. Are you ready?

Andrea Rappaport (:

no, I don't, I I am so nervous. I have, what?

Morgan Stogsdill (:

Okay, here we go. So if you listened to our podcast last week, Andrea made a few jokes about where she would rather be. And one of the things that she said is she would rather be in a war zone over a water park. And so then yesterday, I'm at my desk working away and what do I get? Andrea at a water park, but that's not even.

The best part, because I gotta give it to Andrea, it's spring break, she's doing her mom job, she's bringing her kids to the water park, godspeed to Andrea. The best part of the story is that she also sent me a photo of her because it's really loud at the water park and she was wearing these humongous headphones in the water park that looked like she was flying an airplane in the middle of the water park. That's true, isn't it, Andrea?

Andrea Rappaport (:

That is true. And for those of you who want photographic evidence, head over to Instagram because there is a video that is waiting for you all of this beautiful experience that I had yesterday. I mean, what the fuck? God, if there is something, if there's one thing that I hate more than how tumultuous a divorce is.

It's a goddamn water park. It is just hell on earth for me. And that is the hill I will die on. I don't want to be near a water park, an amusement park. Don't even threaten Disney World at me. I have no interest and I love my kids, but my God, ⁓ my God, it was awful. And it was an indoor water park. It was so gross.

Morgan Stogsdill (:

I'm fine.

Andrea Rappaport (:

I, when I got out, Morgan, I thought like, I can quickly just change my clothes and then take a shower later. No, I couldn't because I smelled like pond water.

Morgan Stogsdill (:

Ugh, I gotta hand it to you though, because that is honestly one of my nightmares. I don't think I've ever stepped foot into a water park since I've had children on purpose. I might be the worst mother ever, but I feel like it's just the wetness in your feet that you feel and the smell. And then I just felt like when you're leaving, I think I asked you,

you

some kind of like infection when you left?

Andrea Rappaport (:

STD was what you asked me and I said not one that I don't already have. But you just said I haven't stepped foot in a water park since I have had kids. That means that you used to go to a water park when you were like single and mingling.

Morgan Stogsdill (:

I mean, who didn't? No,

not when I was single, but who didn't when you were, you know, when your teens are younger, you all went to water parks. That was like the coolest thing ever. So that's why you're a cool mom. You sucked it up. When you lost your coolness was when you put on your airplane, you know, hearing aids and you were standing in the middle of a water park.

Andrea Rappaport (:

Listen, this episode is sponsored by a perimenopause app because ya girl is fighting that shit hard. And my hormones have turned me into a raging cyclone, which is I think probably a name of a ride at a water park, but I can't handle noise. And so yes, I looked wild walking around with these noise canceling headphones.

And I was initially I wore them because I was trying to work. was trying to edit a video. And then I just had to keep them on. Number one, because then it deterred all the weird water park people from approaching me.

Morgan Stogsdill (:

because you were weirder than they were. They were afraid of you.

Andrea Rappaport (:

No, Morgan.

me tell you a story. And we can't post the pictures because that's mean and people already think that we're mean. But you saw the people I was with. I was a goddamn pageant queen compared to the population. So no, I was not weird. I was royalty compared. It was a teeth optional situation.

So no, they wanted to be my friend. I just couldn't handle it. But

do you know what I cannot handle more than water parks? My excitement for this labor of love that we birthed this week without an epidural,

Morgan Stogsdill (:

Tell me.

Andrea Rappaport (:

we worked so hard on bringing you guys something that would be so effective and affordable and just game-changing. And that is the brand new Divorce Crash Course. So what we're gonna get into today is a little synopsis of what's covered in it. We're gonna ask some frequently asked questions because yes, this thing launched on Saturday night and we've already got a slew of questions about it because...

That's just how our cookie crumbles, so let's get into

Morgan Stogsdill (:

you

Andrea Rappaport (:

some general housekeeping. I love when people say housekeeping because I'm always like, what does that mean? That's such a dumb thing to say, but now I'm one of the dumb people at a water park saying housekeeping. What was that laugh? Number one, the most frequently asked question we've received is, if I have the old divorce crash course,

Morgan Stogsdill (:

headphones on.

Andrea Rappaport (:

Do I need the new divorce crash course? And can I get the new divorce crash course for free? Only if you want to take me to a water park. No, here's the deal. The brand new divorce crash course, totally different information than what's in the previous one. ⁓ If you also bought the divorce crash course and all of our guides, then you might have some information that's repeated.

But for the most part, it's totally new. It's brought to you in a totally different way. this new Divorce Crash Course is $50. And that's because this has been underwritten by two of our biggest and most loyal sponsors, our family, Wizard and Soberlink, who were...

beyond generous to contribute to the production costs of getting this beast done so that we can offer it to you for, mean, I'm still stunned at the value that it is.

Morgan Stogsdill (:

we're offering it for like 75 % less. And the reason is because we don't want to have to charge money for this divorce crash course. We think everyone should get this knowledge. And thankfully, SoberLink and our family wizard helped us provide it at such a low cost. But I'm super excited too. We went round and round. Andrea and I did hours and hours poured into this. And it basically contains all of our guides in one spot with really great information.

and a roadmap for you on some of the biggest questions or areas that we know you have questions on.

don't forget, the Divorce Crash Course isn't just a document. It's a private podcast plus a written document that you actually can print out and you've got all the guides in your hands all in one place. So that's the difference of the Divorce Crash Course. But some of the questions that will be answered I'm just going to blob a few out there.

how do I save money in my attorney's fees? How do I speak with my attorney in the most favorable way that saves me dollars that I actually am using them when it matters most? Another one, I might want to keep this house or I might want to get rid of this house. Where do I go next? How do I logically think about what next steps are? Just a few questions thrown into the divorce crash course.

Andrea Rappaport (:

Something else that people asked me in private messages is there anything additional? Actually, yes. The new and improved guidebook for the new and improved divorce crash course has clickable links embedded in it. So you can go and get more information. For example, guess what we made for you? You know how much I love numbers. I hate numbers, but we built a balance sheet.

You have heard your girl Morgan talk over and over again about how important it is that you have a balance sheet. Well, guess what? We have a template for you that you can either implement the numbers yourself or bring to your attorney, the paralegal, whomever is going to help you get this information down.

Morgan Stogsdill (:

And we made it simple enough that it doesn't look so overwhelming. Balance sheets can be super expansive. It can be very detailed and overwhelming. And we made it into a format that should be easy to read, easy to fill out, even if you were to print it out and fill it out handwritten. That's still going to save you dollars with your attorney.

Andrea Rappaport (:

We also get into custody and the parenting agreement, is a, beast. You all know that. Even me just saying it out loud makes me still feel something because I remember how painful it was when I went through that part of my divorce. So we give you the most court approved custody schedules that you can take a look at all these different templates.

We also give you a rundown of key items that are often looked over in the parenting agreement that you do not want to look past. We give you tips and tricks on how to communicate with your soon-to-be ex while you are negotiating the parenting agreement. And the last part of the divorce crash course, we give you an overview of the most common mistakes that you would be surprised are the most common mistakes and the most expensive.

mistakes that people make and how to avoid them.

Morgan Stogsdill (:

go grab it on our website. It's super easy to listen to. We don't want you to listen to it all in one swoop. We want you to take your time, listen to it, and print out our guidebooks.

Andrea Rappaport (:

It's overwhelming to get all this information at once, even though it's just five episodes still. These are five really powerful episodes. And I'll just talk you through the process. When you go and buy it on the sales page, which is linked in the show notes, you'll add it to your cart, checkout Immediately, it'll have a little button to, bink, download. When you download it, the first page of the guidebook says,

Click here to access the private podcast. You click on that link. It takes you to the platform where you can either open it from your phone or it has a QR code. It's easy peasy. Then that private podcast feed goes directly to however else you listen to your podcast. It's there and ready for you.

Morgan Stogsdill (:

And the best part is When you buy the Divorce Crash Course, it doesn't show up on your credit card as the Divorce Crash Course. It comes through as the DCC. So nobody who's looking at your credit cards is gonna know what you're buying. That's on purpose. We want everything to be confidential and we want you to feel comfortable in this process.

Andrea Rappaport (:

This thing is selling like hotcakes. where did that phrase come from? Like when were hotcakes something that like flew off the shelves? Like, can you ever imagine a time when people were like, my God, we can't keep these pancakes in stock. Like, you know what I mean? Like why? What was in those pancakes? What kind of magic mushroom pancakes are we giving out?

Morgan Stogsdill (:

⁓ They would be pancakes that you make with those big things that you were wearing at the water park.

Andrea Rappaport (:

My brain was gonna turn into a hotcake. And you know what? It was the sound. There were 97 lifeguards at this place, right? And this was like a tiny indoor water park. The sound of their whistle. And those kids, because they were kids, blew that whistle for everything. Blow, no running, blow.

Put your goggles back on. Whoa. Like, okay, enough. ⁓ there were a lot of people who needed to pull their pants up, mainly some of these dads. Pull the pants up, Chad. Pull them up. I mean, no wonder Brenda's leaving your ass. No, I'm just kidding. There were lots of Chad and Brenda's who needed to pull things up. But on that note, I got a jet because

Morgan Stogsdill (:

below, pull your pants up.

Andrea Rappaport (:

My MacBook is about to die and so is my dignity.

Morgan Stogsdill (:

How do you even end after that?

Okay, I got it.

I don't...

even know how to come back after that Andrea. ⁓ On that note, we're going to end the podcast.

Andrea Rappaport (:

See you later, hotcake. There's nothing else to say. I'm serious. Like, look, it doesn't get worse. wait. No, no, no. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I actually have a story I don't want to bury a good story for the episodes we record tomorrow, but it's so good. I got to tell you guys right now because you deserve it. Are you ready for this?

Morgan Stogsdill (:

Okay.

Andrea Rappaport (:

Today, I took my kids to Dunkin' Donuts because that's what you do the day after you go to a water park, naturally. I go to Dunkin' Donuts. I'm getting my kids donuts. There's a man there ordering coffee. He looks at me and he says, your kids are so beautiful. They are angels on earth. Okay. And I said, thank you so much. And then he looks at me and he says, are you their great grandmother?

Morgan Stogsdill (:

Stop it. How old was this guy? Okay.

Andrea Rappaport (:

No, no, no, gets better. It gets better. It gets better. And I said, no.

And he said, grandmother? And I said, no, mother. To which he said, really?

Morgan Stogsdill (:

Wow. ⁓

Andrea Rappaport (:

And

then he looks at my kids and he says, you boys are so beautiful. I love you more than Jesus. I mean, just in time for Easter. I mean, what a compliment. So there goes my dignity. I've got nothing, Morgan. I have no hotcakes. I've got pilot headphones.

Morgan Stogsdill (:

Creepy. You're like, get your coffee and get out of there.

Andrea Rappaport (:

I smell like pond water.

Morgan Stogsdill (:

and your great grandma.

Andrea Rappaport (:

and I'm a great grandmother. So if you guys think that your lives are hard, well, baby, press pound and re-record.

Morgan Stogsdill (:

we do these mini episodes so that you can get a little bit of humor, a little bit of information, and keep it quick in and out. If you need more community, go to our private community. We would love to have you. We answer DMs. If you need attorney referrals, we work on those as well. bottom line is get the community and get the DCC.
