The Roman poet Horace was a man familiar with hard times. Despite the growth and power of the empire this was still a world of suffering and hardships. In our modern world we have a much easier life in many ways but it comes at a cost. The cost is that so many of us don't experience the types of adversity and challenge that could unleash the talents within us.
