What does it mean to be engaged in work that is meaningful?

If your gut response to that question is that it’s a stupid question (we all know if we are involved in work that is meaningful!), then you are likely unaware that there are those who are truly not sure. Is not all work meaningful….to someone or at minimum the corporation?

Are there corporations that are in business to simply “make money?” Could that not be a sole mission? Well, not exactly because all business serves something or someone and that is attached to a benefit to someone or something….namely a mission. So are you engaged to that mission and is the leadership demonstrating their engagement and able to convey such enthusiasm to its employees?

Not only does each individual need to have some attachment to the mission of the organization but the culture needs to be supportive of those goals and the staff that is depended upon to achieve them. Employee engagement is really a thing and can truly influence our happiness on the job.
