Speaker:Today it is my pleasure to introduce you to Angela Gia
Speaker:Kim Angela is the founder of Saver Beauty,
Speaker:a natural skincare and facial spa brand inspired by Korean beauty
Speaker:and self-love rituals.
Speaker:She's a former international classic concert pianist called The Unexpected Beauty
Speaker:Virtuoso by Mind Body Green.
Speaker:She created her award-winning skincare products in her kitchen,
Speaker:becoming an accidental entrepreneur.
Speaker:I think we can all relate to that.
Speaker:This led to a multi-million dollar enterprise around the philosophy of
Speaker:manifesting beauty,
Speaker:brilliance, and balance.
Speaker:Angela has led hundreds of women empowerment workshops and her Saver
Speaker:Beauty self-care planner has sold over 100,000
Speaker:copies, a highly recognized skin and self-care expert.
Speaker:Her skincare and spas in New York City have been chosen
Speaker:as best of New York and featured in top publications such
Speaker:as The New York Times,
Speaker:Vogue L People and Allure amongst others.
Speaker:Angela lives in New York with her teen daughter,
Speaker:mini golden retriever and philanthropic partner.
Speaker:Angela, welcome to the Gift Biz Unwrapped podcast.
Speaker:Thank you so much for having me,
Speaker:Sue. I'm so excited to be talking to you.
Speaker:Me too.
Speaker:I can't wait to see what all the good things we
Speaker:get into.
Speaker:But before we get started,
Speaker:I'd love to get to know you in a little bit
Speaker:of a different way,
Speaker:a creative way through a motivational candle.
Speaker:So if you were to dream up a candle that would
Speaker:resonate completely with you,
Speaker:it would probably be sitting on a table right in this
Speaker:room you're in right now.
Speaker:What would your candle look like by color?
Speaker:Quote, any descriptions that you'd like to create?
Speaker:Okay. Well,
Speaker:it would be a candle that I could hold in my
Speaker:hands and it would be a creamy rose gold color.
Speaker:And I have this candle that says the saying,
Speaker:and I think it's beautiful cuz every time I see it,
Speaker:it just really brings home how I want to be.
Speaker:And it's kind of a snarky saying,
Speaker:but I love,
Speaker:I love it.
Speaker:It's don't hate meditate,
Speaker:so it's just a reminder to be peaceful,
Speaker:calm, loving.
Speaker:And there's another saying that says,
Speaker:may my goddess meet your goddess.
Speaker:So it's just being our higher selves and vibrating at a
Speaker:higher level.
Speaker:And for the scent,
Speaker:I would love it to be a little bit of lavender,
Speaker:a little bit of mint,
Speaker:and a little bit of rose.
Speaker:Ooh, I love all that.
Speaker:And no surprise based on skincare and all of that,
Speaker:cuz those are a lot of what you put in your
Speaker:products as well.
Speaker:Yes, because I've been snooping.
Speaker:I saw what you have there.
Speaker:So I really like this,
Speaker:don't hate meditate.
Speaker:And I've heard it said before,
Speaker:similar thing like when you are curring around and you're just,
Speaker:everything is building one on top of another,
Speaker:on top of another,
Speaker:and you're just getting to this level where you're so tensed
Speaker:up at,
Speaker:you know how they'll say,
Speaker:just breathe for a second.
Speaker:Just take a step back and breathe right.
Speaker:And with you,
Speaker:that's why like the don't hate meditate,
Speaker:don't get yourself all wrapped up in frustrating,
Speaker:maybe even angry feelings.
Speaker:Jump back,
Speaker:relate to the person or relate to your inner self and
Speaker:reset. That's exactly what it describes.
Speaker:The trick is we have to remember to do it Well.
Speaker:I think it's a daily practice and we can get into
Speaker:meditation a little bit later because meditation is a very big
Speaker:word and it's kind of intimidating and it's something that I
Speaker:actually really did not know how to do,
Speaker:did not want to do until a few years ago.
Speaker:So I've developed a different way of looking at meditation,
Speaker:but we can get into that juicy stuff down the road
Speaker:here. Yeah.
Speaker:In a few minutes.
Speaker:And I definitely want to,
Speaker:because I've one who have always believed in the value of
Speaker:meditating, and I have tried several times and I just haven't
Speaker:been able to do it,
Speaker:although I've had some tips and clues and I'm better,
Speaker:but I'm anxious to hear what you have to say.
Speaker:But first,
Speaker:I am so curious about what happened in your kitchen way
Speaker:back when and what led up to all of that.
Speaker:So will you share with us the whole story?
Speaker:Yeah, I would love to.
Speaker:I was a concert pianist on tour and about to walk
Speaker:out on stage,
Speaker:bought this natural lotion and put it all over my body
Speaker:before one particular concert and started breaking out into hives,
Speaker:had very sensitive skin.
Speaker:So it was a humiliating experience.
Speaker:After I got off stage,
Speaker:I looked at the list of ingredients and was really surprised
Speaker:to see how many chemical ingredients were in this so-called natural
Speaker:formula. So I did some research,
Speaker:was shocked to find out that out of 55 ingredients in
Speaker:a lot of cosmetic formulas,
Speaker:majority will be chemical fillers and preservatives,
Speaker:things that you don't need for skin,
Speaker:nourishment and radiance.
Speaker:So this was a long time ago before organic skincare was
Speaker:even a thing really.
Speaker:So I just went into my kitchen and started doing my
Speaker:own research and like a little baker,
Speaker:I started making my own lotions and potions in my kitchen.
Speaker:And of course I didn't know what I was doing and
Speaker:it was just a passion project.
Speaker:So every day I would wake up and in between practicing
Speaker:Mozart and Beethoven,
Speaker:I was experimenting and having so much fun in my kitchen.
Speaker:Actually I look back on that time and it was a
Speaker:very spiritually healing time because as a pianist I really wasn't
Speaker:allowed to make a lot of mistakes on stage.
Speaker:You practiced for perfection.
Speaker:So this,
Speaker:it was a very private project for myself and I was
Speaker:in my kitchen just messing up all the time and there
Speaker:was like literally no consequence for the mistakes and the fails.
Speaker:And I kept doing it like a thousand times actually.
Speaker:Because as a pianist you're trained to practice a thousand times
Speaker:before it becomes perfect.
Speaker:So for me it was fine.
Speaker:I would just get up every morning and I would take
Speaker:a note on what wasn't working and I would improve it.
Speaker:The next day I started racking up a lot of charges
Speaker:on my credit card for this passion project,
Speaker:buying essential oils,
Speaker:lavender essential oils rose,
Speaker:essential oils,
Speaker:mint, like how I describe my favorite candle and shea butter,
Speaker:cocoa butter.
Speaker:And I was doing a lot of research on scientific studies
Speaker:on what ingredients have this anti-aging or skin benefit proven and
Speaker:backed by science.
Speaker:And that's how I really got started.
Speaker:First I have to tell you that I totally get that
Speaker:perfection situation.
Speaker:I was a violinist,
Speaker:so same thing.
Speaker:I didn't take it to the professional level like you.
Speaker:That wasn't where my interest was.
Speaker:So finally when I convinced my parents that wasn't the way
Speaker:I wanted to go,
Speaker:I was able to get off of the whole music thing,
Speaker:but I totally get it.
Speaker:Like all of that and how perfect you have to be
Speaker:in practice and practice and practice,
Speaker:especially if you're with an orchestra,
Speaker:there are other people playing with you because all the timing
Speaker:and the tone has to be perfect.
Speaker:So I totally,
Speaker:totally get that.
Speaker:And I wanna sit on this idea of perfection for a
Speaker:minute with part of your story because as a professional concert
Speaker:pianist, you are elevated to the best of the best,
Speaker:right? So perfection is drilled into you over and over again.
Speaker:But I think it's something that a lot of people who
Speaker:are listening to us also feel because they're not willing to
Speaker:let themself try things because what if it doesn't work?
Speaker:Okay, I love that you're asking me this And I'm thinking
Speaker:you had to at some point change your thinking to allow
Speaker:yourself to test,
Speaker:I don't like to say fail here,
Speaker:right? But like,
Speaker:and to come up with a result that wasn't exactly what
Speaker:you wanted and that was okay cuz you had to keep
Speaker:going with testing.
Speaker:But how did you adjust your thinking to allow yourself to
Speaker:do that?
Speaker:It's a beautiful question and before I answer it,
Speaker:I just want to zoom out for one second.
Speaker:I think that's beautiful that you were a violinist and you
Speaker:would probably agree with me that a lot of what you
Speaker:learned as a violinist,
Speaker:as a musician,
Speaker:these were transferable skills that probably helped you to become successful
Speaker:at what you're doing today.
Speaker:Would you agree with that?
Speaker:Yes, I would.
Speaker:I would like to say that a lot of people when
Speaker:they start to launch their own passion project or little business
Speaker:or big business,
Speaker:whatever their dreams are,
Speaker:sometimes you don't quite understand why you're in a job or
Speaker:what you're doing in a particular field.
Speaker:And I always tell women,
Speaker:learn as much as you can where you're at because you
Speaker:will bring forth a lot of transferrable skills.
Speaker:Yes, I agree.
Speaker:You think that you're learning X,
Speaker:Y, and Z,
Speaker:you think that this job is giving you these technical skills,
Speaker:but if you really look at it,
Speaker:what it might be teaching you are bigger things like perseverance,
Speaker:people skills,
Speaker:problem solving skills,
Speaker:creativity, determination.
Speaker:These are million dollar valued characteristics that you're building.
Speaker:And so all of that,
Speaker:when I was a pianist,
Speaker:a lot of what I learned as a pianist transferred over,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:I have a very good and healthy work ethic because I
Speaker:was practicing six to eight,
Speaker:so sometimes 13 hours a day.
Speaker:So these transferable skills are very valuable.
Speaker:So I wanted to just point that out because a lot
Speaker:of women struggle when they're thinking about,
Speaker:well I wanna do this,
Speaker:and what does this have to do with that?
Speaker:Someday it will become very clear why you're doing what you're
Speaker:doing presently.
Speaker:Okay, so let's get into this notion of perfection and how
Speaker:that can hold a lot of us back.
Speaker:And I know it held me back very early on because
Speaker:I wanted the perfect thing,
Speaker:but I think because a backdrop upon which I was in
Speaker:my kitchen making these lotions and potions,
Speaker:it was just for fun and for once I was allowed
Speaker:to make mistakes.
Speaker:And I told you earlier,
Speaker:it was spiritually healing.
Speaker:I think when you're allowed to fail,
Speaker:you're allowed to make mistakes and there's no judgment and there
Speaker:are really no consequences.
Speaker:It's fun and play.
Speaker:And that's how I like to look at even building a
Speaker:business, that what a privilege it is that we can build
Speaker:businesses. We live in a country that where it's very easy
Speaker:to launch a business.
Speaker:So if you can think of it more like playfulness,
Speaker:you're learning,
Speaker:you're creating and you're learning from your mistakes and your failures,
Speaker:it becomes a lighter experience for yourself.
Speaker:And so I have this notion,
Speaker:this little philosophy of prototyping.
Speaker:So you know what a proto is,
Speaker:right? It's a model of what you want.
Speaker:So I always tell women,
Speaker:just prototype your way to success.
Speaker:And prototypes by nature are meant to have mistakes,
Speaker:not to be perfect,
Speaker:to have some imperfections in them.
Speaker:And so if you think for me,
Speaker:for example,
Speaker:the lotions,
Speaker:I said I did a thousand prototypes where I'd make the
Speaker:first lotion that I made was made of olive oil and
Speaker:butter and rose,
Speaker:right? I was really excited.
Speaker:I was like,
Speaker:what if I melt this and oh,
Speaker:that doesn't smell so good.
Speaker:It doesn't feel that great.
Speaker:It's very greasy.
Speaker:I can't play the piano now.
Speaker:That was my first prototype.
Speaker:It's okay,
Speaker:I learned that.
Speaker:I don't like that heavy gross feeling,
Speaker:right? Well the second one then it was like,
Speaker:well what if I added did a coconut oil?
Speaker:Oh that smells so much better.
Speaker:I like that.
Speaker:That's my lesson.
Speaker:So every prototype that you're making,
Speaker:oh, the next one I'd like to add a little bit
Speaker:of lavender essential oils.
Speaker:Oh that was very strong.
Speaker:And then eventually,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:I sent it to a chemist to check out when people
Speaker:started buying from me.
Speaker:And the chemist helped me to even make that prototype even
Speaker:better. And so even today I use that prototype example,
Speaker:we have been working on an SPF formula for five years,
Speaker:Sue, five years,
Speaker:and so many fails later and so many disappointments,
Speaker:so many heartbreaks later.
Speaker:Finally we were able to partner with a chemist and a
Speaker:lab that really helped us to create our dream sunscreen that
Speaker:we're, it's SPF 50 plus,
Speaker:it's triple threat.
Speaker:It protects soothes and brightens the skin.
Speaker:For me,
Speaker:we went through so many fails prototypes to get to this
Speaker:what I think is a perfect S P F.
Speaker:So I think that's one way to look at perfectionism is
Speaker:to get through it,
Speaker:is to prototype your way to success.
Speaker:I love that.
Speaker:That's fabulous.
Speaker:And so I always try to put myself in my mind
Speaker:of everyone who's listening.
Speaker:Yeah. And if they were sitting in your shoes at the
Speaker:point where you were just describing where you're still in the
Speaker:kitchen, and I hear this from people all the time as
Speaker:well, I don't know how to do this.
Speaker:Like I don't know how to make a lotion that's all
Speaker:natural, that's gonna be healthy.
Speaker:I'm not familiar with how to do that.
Speaker:Or with your S P F,
Speaker:how do you even know what ingredients or what you do
Speaker:to make a lotion resistant to the sun and all the
Speaker:things that you need?
Speaker:So I'm thinking there had to be a lot of additional
Speaker:learning resourcing and all of that so that you can talk
Speaker:with such confidence as you do now about your products.
Speaker:Yes. Well even back then I was always picking up the
Speaker:phone and I didn't have a lot of money.
Speaker:So I would just call chemists and I would be like,
Speaker:well I will order from you one day a big order,
Speaker:but I need you to get through this hurdle and I
Speaker:need you to like tell me,
Speaker:okay, so what should the ratio between water and oils be?
Speaker:And then even the first time I was like,
Speaker:I'm gonna make it completely a hundred percent natural,
Speaker:no preservatives.
Speaker:And then two weeks later I open it up and it
Speaker:has mold and fungus.
Speaker:So I remember calling this chemist who helped me so much,
Speaker:she was so sweet,
Speaker:I should really send her a thank you note now many
Speaker:years later.
Speaker:But she would just tell me,
Speaker:well you could consider this to preserve it.
Speaker:You need to do this,
Speaker:you need to send it to this lab,
Speaker:you need to do all of this.
Speaker:And she really was my teacher and mentor at the very
Speaker:beginning and I was doing a lot of research.
Speaker:And so I think in some ways you do need to
Speaker:become lightly obsessed with your passion.
Speaker:I call passion focused desire.
Speaker:So passion is really just become passionately in love with what
Speaker:you're doing.
Speaker:And it's an everyday thing where you're just discovering your learning.
Speaker:And I know you said you don't like the word failure,
Speaker:nobody really likes the word failure,
Speaker:but if you look at it as lessons learned,
Speaker:it propels you forward.
Speaker:It's actually a very exciting and invigorating journey.
Speaker:This s SPF journey was really heartbreaking on so many levels
Speaker:because you asked a lot of good questions,
Speaker:well how do you even know what to put in there?
Speaker:And so it starts with a lot of get curious,
Speaker:it's like,
Speaker:well how do you protect the skin and what are the
Speaker:best, most natural,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:we're natural brand,
Speaker:so what are the best,
Speaker:most natural brand ingredients to use to protect the skin?
Speaker:And so we had to do so many iterations in order
Speaker:to get to it.
Speaker:And then,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:so many times when we're like,
Speaker:we're launching in 2019,
Speaker:nope, it's not ready.
Speaker:Nope. We would test it on our estheticians.
Speaker:We have two spas in New York City now,
Speaker:and we would test on our estheticians and they would be
Speaker:like, no,
Speaker:I don't like the scent,
Speaker:I don't like the texture.
Speaker:Or I'd send it to my mom who was my muse,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:save her beauty was founded on the Korean beauty rituals.
Speaker:And my mom is Korean and she taught me everything I
Speaker:know about beauty as a young child.
Speaker:I was just watching her massage her face and take care
Speaker:of her skin and cleanse it beautifully.
Speaker:So I would send it to her and she would like
Speaker:this. She wouldn't like that.
Speaker:And so then it would always be going back to the
Speaker:chemist and coming up with new formulas and then eventually we
Speaker:figured out maybe that chemist was not quite getting it so
Speaker:we needed to hire another one.
Speaker:And so it's just this ongoing project of prototyping and you
Speaker:need to ask questions and you need to learn from each
Speaker:prototype that you're manifesting.
Speaker:Back then I was bootstrapping everything.
Speaker:So I had to learn the hard way,
Speaker:which is,
Speaker:oops, that didn't work well why?
Speaker:And you have to do what I did,
Speaker:get on the phone and just beg all these people to
Speaker:give you advice for free.
Speaker:But now we've reached a level of success where we can
Speaker:hire good people and we can really work with them in
Speaker:depth. And we have our holistic chemist and then we have
Speaker:our lab and we've got people that we can lean on.
Speaker:Now I loved your story also because I think we always
Speaker:think when we're outreaching and asking for information for free that
Speaker:people aren't willing to give it.
Speaker:You know?
Speaker:So that restricts us from even picking up the phone or
Speaker:emailing or whatever we would do nowadays,
Speaker:right? But oftentimes when you do stretch out,
Speaker:you find that people are really willing to help and as
Speaker:you said,
Speaker:with the potential of maybe them working with you when you
Speaker:get to a bigger level,
Speaker:Right? So we can't let our thoughts restrict ourself from moving
Speaker:forward. It's so easy to do that.
Speaker:And I understand that hesitation because there is a fine line,
Speaker:you don't don't want to take advantage of someone's generosity.
Speaker:And I would just say you have to vibe it.
Speaker:Some people wanna talk.
Speaker:This lady who was a chemist,
Speaker:she was just in Texas and I feel like she was
Speaker:retired and she just wanted to help me and she gave
Speaker:me hours of her time and she was lovely and I
Speaker:learned a lot about the whole making of the creams from
Speaker:her. I think also we're very lucky because back then I
Speaker:had to ask my sister at one point,
Speaker:what's Google?
Speaker:Because I was doing all this,
Speaker:not really in the Google time.
Speaker:I mean Google is within the last 20 years.
Speaker:Correct. So I think I was doing,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:my saver beauty stuff like very,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:not 20 years ago,
Speaker:but when I was experimenting and it wasn't even saver beauty,
Speaker:saver beauty really came to be in 2017 when we rebranded.
Speaker:But I was making lotions and potions well before that.
Speaker:And so I would have to go to the library and
Speaker:do a lot of research on my own as well.
Speaker:But now we're lucky we have Google And we forget how
Speaker:much you can learn just from Google.
Speaker:My husband and I were talking about that over dinner just
Speaker:last night.
Speaker:He had something with his computer and our IT person is
Speaker:like, why don't you Google that?
Speaker:I'm not even sure.
Speaker:And he didn't even think of it in like within 30
Speaker:seconds. He had his answer.
Speaker:And you do have to be careful cuz there is a
Speaker:lot of perhaps non researched information on Google.
Speaker:You wanna get it from a good resource,
Speaker:but you'll learn soon enough what is a quality resource and
Speaker:what is not.
Speaker:Right. Okay.
Speaker:So just a little bit more on product development.
Speaker:Okay. And then we're gonna move on to some other fun
Speaker:things. At what point were you able to turn this into
Speaker:a business where you're selling your product?
Speaker:How long down the road and what did you do?
Speaker:Okay, let's go way back.
Speaker:When I was pregnant with my daughter,
Speaker:she was five months in my belly and I decided I
Speaker:was going to give my last concert,
Speaker:close the lid.
Speaker:And then I was like,
Speaker:well, I'm going to take a break from piano.
Speaker:And a couple of my friends were like,
Speaker:I just have a feeling you're not going to come back,
Speaker:Angela, you're gonna really take a break.
Speaker:Said it's just a break.
Speaker:And then when I gave birth to Sienna,
Speaker:my daughter,
Speaker:she just has this creative force in her.
Speaker:And about a month after she was born,
Speaker:I thought to myself,
Speaker:well, I think I'm ready to go back to work.
Speaker:So what I'm gonna do is open up a little holiday
Speaker:kiosk at the Bryant Park holiday shops.
Speaker:And so I negotiated with the guy,
Speaker:I think he wanted me to pay $20,000
Speaker:for a booth.
Speaker:And I was like,
Speaker:what? I don't have that kind of money.
Speaker:And it was the last minute and I knew he had
Speaker:a few more booths and I was like,
Speaker:well, you could make a couple of thousand dollars for me
Speaker:or you could keep it empty.
Speaker:And besides,
Speaker:I make these amazing creams and I think it's just something
Speaker:that New Yorkers want.
Speaker:So if you've got that empty space,
Speaker:I'm here.
Speaker:I just gave birth,
Speaker:so just call me back.
Speaker:He called me back the day before the holiday park.
Speaker:Oh my.
Speaker:And he is like,
Speaker:I've got a booth for you.
Speaker:And I said,
Speaker:well I don't have that couple thousand dollars,
Speaker:so could I pay it from what I sell?
Speaker:I don't know why he actually said yes to that,
Speaker:but he did.
Speaker:And you know how tough these New York landlords are,
Speaker:right? So I don't know,
Speaker:maybe he was taken by the innocence and the audacity of
Speaker:my ask.
Speaker:Well yeah,
Speaker:or maybe he just wanted to help you.
Speaker:And let's face it,
Speaker:having empty booths at a show doesn't look good either,
Speaker:you know?
Speaker:So just to fill it.
Speaker:Yeah. But Angela product a day before it starts,
Speaker:what did you have made and ready to go?
Speaker:Well, I probably had like maybe 30 ready to go.
Speaker:And so I started and I had an assistant at that
Speaker:time, she was helping me like very sporadically.
Speaker:And I just called her and I said,
Speaker:Bridget, do you think you could make queens while I'm down
Speaker:there selling?
Speaker:And she was like,
Speaker:yep, I'm gonna help you.
Speaker:So she helped me during the holiday season and I was
Speaker:breastfeeding, I was pumping,
Speaker:I was everything.
Speaker:And don't forget,
Speaker:Sue, here's the thing,
Speaker:I used to be a concert pianist,
Speaker:so I didn't know how to sell,
Speaker:I didn't know anything.
Speaker:I just knew I had a really good cream that people
Speaker:loved. And so that talk about prototyping,
Speaker:I was in the holiday shops and I was learning how
Speaker:to sell and there were days when people would just reject
Speaker:me and I wasn't used to it because I was used
Speaker:to being a concert pianist in the star of the show.
Speaker:So it was very humiliating for me to receive all of
Speaker:these rejections.
Speaker:And then there were a couple $0 days and I would
Speaker:cry with my baby in my arms,
Speaker:I'd be like,
Speaker:oh Sienna,
Speaker:we didn't make any sales today.
Speaker:I would be so sad.
Speaker:Then I would be like,
Speaker:Nope, tomorrow's a new day.
Speaker:I'm gonna learn a new thing.
Speaker:And I was prototyping how to sell and I was watching
Speaker:everyone else around me and I was like,
Speaker:oh, that's how you make a store look good.
Speaker:Oh, it colors attract people.
Speaker:Oh, so she's doing this to sell.
Speaker:Maybe I should try this to sell.
Speaker:So in a way,
Speaker:everybody around me became my teacher and I was just looking
Speaker:at them and I was learning and I was absorbing and
Speaker:I was failing over and over again.
Speaker:And I would just say,
Speaker:okay, to make myself feel better.
Speaker:And this is where I talk about transferable skills.
Speaker:You know,
Speaker:I was used to practicing.
Speaker:So I would say as a pianist,
Speaker:I would practice things 10 times in a row to make
Speaker:it perfect.
Speaker:So I said to myself,
Speaker:well I used to practice 10 to 100 times,
Speaker:I may as well go practice 10 times on how to
Speaker:sell. And then slowly but surely I noticed,
Speaker:oh one two outta 10 people are buying.
Speaker:Okay? And again,
Speaker:as a pianist,
Speaker:I was used to saying to myself,
Speaker:well why didn't that work?
Speaker:And I would look at why didn't that sale work?
Speaker:Oh, maybe I overtalked this time,
Speaker:I'm going to not talk as much.
Speaker:And I started to observe customers as they would walk into
Speaker:my booth,
Speaker:they would like look to the right,
Speaker:not to the left.
Speaker:So I learned,
Speaker:oh, put the skincare to the right.
Speaker:If I say this,
Speaker:they're going to listen.
Speaker:If I don't,
Speaker:if I ask this question,
Speaker:if I don't,
Speaker:you know.
Speaker:And so I was crafting something and I'm telling you the
Speaker:story because it's very important.
Speaker:What I was doing was I was prototyping something,
Speaker:a formula that I call the lover sales system.
Speaker:And I,
Speaker:to this day,
Speaker:I teach it to all of my estheticians and front desk
Speaker:staff in our spas in New York City.
Speaker:And this is how we are able to be,
Speaker:be a profitable,
Speaker:successful business.
Speaker:Because at the time,
Speaker:during a very down period for me where I was crying
Speaker:myself to sleep sometimes,
Speaker:cuz it was cold,
Speaker:I had a baby,
Speaker:I was hormonal and I was getting a lot of rejections.
Speaker:During that downtime,
Speaker:I was actually practicing prototyping my way to success.
Speaker:And I was learning the lover system.
Speaker:Let me tell you what it stands for.
Speaker:L stands for leadership.
Speaker:I learned that you need to be a leader when you're
Speaker:selling product.
Speaker:You can't just sit there.
Speaker:You do need to invite them to come into your booth,
Speaker:invite them to learn about your product.
Speaker:You are the expert,
Speaker:so you are teaching them and you're being the authority.
Speaker:O is objections.
Speaker:I started to listen to their objections and I started to
Speaker:put that into my presentation.
Speaker:People would say,
Speaker:oh, that seems expensive.
Speaker:And I would say,
Speaker:well, a little goes a long way.
Speaker:I don't use chemical fillers in my products.
Speaker:So you use an eighth of what you would use from
Speaker:a drugstore product.
Speaker:So it's actually more cost effective than a drugstore product.
Speaker:You know,
Speaker:it's concentrated.
Speaker:So I was learning like through their rejections,
Speaker:I was saying,
Speaker:oh, these are their objections.
Speaker:Now what is it that I need to say to learn
Speaker:how to overcome their objections?
Speaker:V stands for value.
Speaker:And I learned this from the lady across the way who
Speaker:was selling a lot of handbags.
Speaker:She was selling them with a story.
Speaker:She would put the handbag on their shoulder and she would
Speaker:say, well,
Speaker:here you go.
Speaker:You could wear this to work and then you can wear
Speaker:it for a date and then you can take it home
Speaker:and you can put your shoes in there.
Speaker:She would tell them literally a story.
Speaker:That's a value.
Speaker:You're adding value to their lives.
Speaker:So it's like I always tell my aestheticians and front desk
Speaker:staff, we call them self-care ambassadors,
Speaker:don't try to sell a mom who's busy with two kids
Speaker:throwing macaroni at her while she's driving them to school.
Speaker:Don't try to sell them our five step system because that's
Speaker:not valuable to her.
Speaker:She needs to know how she can get radiant in one
Speaker:minute and not feel overwhelmed and drained.
Speaker:And how can she feel juicy and radiant in less than
Speaker:a minute.
Speaker:So all you need to do is talk to her,
Speaker:a teacher,
Speaker:how to use our toning mist with lavender so that she
Speaker:can calm down so that it's soothing her skin and her
Speaker:soul. And then she needs to glow in one second.
Speaker:So why not give her the pumpkin serum that's going to
Speaker:renew her skin and help her to get radiance and nourish
Speaker:her skin in less than 20 seconds.
Speaker:And that's what a mom needs that's going to provide value
Speaker:in her life.
Speaker:Now, a woman who's just dating in New York City and
Speaker:wants to look gorgeous,
Speaker:she's going to spend a lot more time down her skin.
Speaker:So you're going to teach her how to do that after
Speaker:she gets out of the shower.
Speaker:And how is she going to look gorgeous and glowing for
Speaker:this hot date that she has tonight?
Speaker:You're going to teach her the value of this truffle face
Speaker:cream and how it's going to give her skin radiance.
Speaker:So that's value.
Speaker:And then E is experience.
Speaker:So they come to our facials for an experience.
Speaker:You want to give them an experience so that they don't
Speaker:feel like you're just selling them something,
Speaker:you're actually giving them an experiential lifestyle.
Speaker:So the more you can do that.
Speaker:And so that's how I eventually developed our facials.
Speaker:New Yorkers come in for an hour of heaven,
Speaker:for somebody to lift their face with all these gorgeous smelling
Speaker:aromas from our serums and all of the techniques that we're
Speaker:using for youthful radiance.
Speaker:So that's an experience that women want to have are,
Speaker:and this is probably the most valuable lesson I learned during
Speaker:that time when I was selling in the Bryant Park holiday
Speaker:shops, is release,
Speaker:you gotta release expectations.
Speaker:You've done your best.
Speaker:You've shared your love and your passion,
Speaker:and it's up to the customer if she wants it or
Speaker:not, none of your business.
Speaker:She will bring it into her life if she wants.
Speaker:And she won't if she doesn't,
Speaker:and she may come back later,
Speaker:release it to the universe.
Speaker:That is such a stress reliever to just think about that.
Speaker:I agree with you that that's one of the most important
Speaker:ones. But all of these have such a huge role in
Speaker:the whole process.
Speaker:I love this lover system that you've shared with us.
Speaker:I think it's fabulous.
Speaker:Thank you so much.
Speaker:And so that is how I started creating this little business
Speaker:holiday shops while I was breastfeeding.
Speaker:Oh my gosh.
Speaker:All right.
Speaker:So we've talked a lot about the product and focused on
Speaker:the product and its elements and the evolution and how you've
Speaker:started. And your story of the first show that you did
Speaker:is really significant because it shows that you started small,
Speaker:just like so many people who are listening here started small
Speaker:and what you can grow into as you move forward.
Speaker:But there's a whole nother level of your product that I'd
Speaker:love to uncover and for us to share this with people
Speaker:who are listening as kind of a gift of knowledge over
Speaker:and above the products.
Speaker:First off everybody,
Speaker:we're gonna talk at the end about how you can go
Speaker:and see all of these products that Angela's been referencing.
Speaker:But I know that there's a base of ancient Korean belief
Speaker:with the products that is so much more than the wonderful
Speaker:lotions and toners and serums and all of that.
Speaker:So let's talk about that.
Speaker:I wanted to pause this discussion for a second to let
Speaker:you know that I recognize you may be feeling overwhelmed right
Speaker:now. I mean,
Speaker:I bring on great guests who are specialists in their fields,
Speaker:and we get into fabulous conversations that you know can help
Speaker:grow your business.
Speaker:So after the show,
Speaker:you have the full intention of grabbing a download,
Speaker:making an adjustment on your website or any number of other
Speaker:ideas that arise as a result of this podcast.
Speaker:But what happens,
Speaker:you get back to your other activities and the momentum you
Speaker:once had gets lost.
Speaker:What you've planned to do is forgotten,
Speaker:then you feel bad because your business is going on as
Speaker:usual without implementing anything that you know would help grow your
Speaker:business. We're just too busy doing all the things like a
Speaker:robot moving from one thing to another without thinking,
Speaker:because we have to.
Speaker:I get it,
Speaker:I've been there.
Speaker:But guess what?
Speaker:There is another way.
Speaker:Since I recognized this exact behavior in my own business,
Speaker:I set out to do something about it.
Speaker:And now what works for me,
Speaker:I'm sharing with you.
Speaker:I formalized the process and it's called the inspired daily planner,
Speaker:made specifically for gifters,
Speaker:bakers, crafters and makers.
Speaker:But it's not your ordinary planner.
Speaker:First off,
Speaker:it comes with a video explaining my productivity strategy.
Speaker:Plus it's not dated.
Speaker:So you can start using your planner the second it arrives
Speaker:at your doorstep.
Speaker:And that's not all included for each day is a motivational
Speaker:message or business building tip and plenty of space to capture
Speaker:and book in time for to-dos,
Speaker:schedule appointments and all those other ideas that are now getting
Speaker:lost. Think of it as a book and a planner all
Speaker:in one,
Speaker:yet compact enough to carry with you and resource as necessary.
Speaker:It's the perfect solution to truly act and move your business
Speaker:forward. Go to gift biz unwrapped.com/inspired
Speaker:to get your hard copy planner along with my power of
Speaker:purpose video that will set you on the path for true
Speaker:business growth.
Speaker:This makes a great gift too.
Speaker:So if you have a biz bestie,
Speaker:pick up a planner for them too.
Speaker:That link again is gift biz unwed.com/inspired.
Speaker:Okay, let's get back to the show.
Speaker:Okay, well,
Speaker:I call it spiritual skincare and made from natural ingredients.
Speaker:But I think a simple way to connect your souls by
Speaker:incorporating spiritual skincare practices into your routine.
Speaker:And so I'll teach you a really fantastic way to do
Speaker:it. But the Korean beauty rituals that I want to tie
Speaker:in for you is that in ancient times it was believed
Speaker:that your happiness could be seen on your face.
Speaker:And so as far back as ad nine 18,
Speaker:Korean women were putting shine onto their faces using oils like
Speaker:apricot oils,
Speaker:safflower and peach oils.
Speaker:And so they were working on their shine even in these
Speaker:ancient times.
Speaker:So I also like to say that you can tap into
Speaker:your inner happiness,
Speaker:your inner essence,
Speaker:your soul,
Speaker:and I call it your personal energy.
Speaker:You can do that through your skincare practice.
Speaker:So my mom always taught me to treat your skin like
Speaker:the most expensive silk on earth.
Speaker:And what I want to teach you right now is how
Speaker:you treat your skin is how you treat your soul.
Speaker:Okay? So one thing that you can do right now,
Speaker:Sue, is you can take your two hands and rub them
Speaker:them together vigorously.
Speaker:Okay? Your hands are rubbing together vigorously.
Speaker:Now, when you're finished,
Speaker:do you feel some sort of energy in your palms?
Speaker:Yeah, I feel tingling.
Speaker:Tingling, yeah.
Speaker:Okay, so that's what in the Sanskrit word is called prana.
Speaker:That's your personal energy.
Speaker:And so what you do is you do that right before
Speaker:you're going to wash your face or you're going to massage
Speaker:your face with serums or beauty oils.
Speaker:And then what you'll do is you just take a little
Speaker:bit of your cleansing cream or cleanser,
Speaker:whatever you use,
Speaker:and then you just visualize this white aura,
Speaker:your personal energy washing your face,
Speaker:right? And then you can take,
Speaker:I always take the savor beauty red raspberry serum.
Speaker:It's a nourishing and luscious oil,
Speaker:and it makes your skin so silky soft.
Speaker:You feel this like oric energy inside your palms.
Speaker:And imagine that you're layering love and this magic onto your
Speaker:skin and you're massaging your skin and face with intention,
Speaker:with care,
Speaker:and activating your senses like the aroma therapy is drawing you
Speaker:in. And then you feel like the radiance and your personal
Speaker:prana, the energy I just talked about,
Speaker:you feel it rise.
Speaker:It's raising your radiance,
Speaker:right? So you can make this skincare routine into a spiritual
Speaker:practice bringing in more mindfulness.
Speaker:I mean,
Speaker:it can take something that's very mundane as washing your face
Speaker:or putting creams onto your face into something that's meditative,
Speaker:intentional and joyful.
Speaker:So that's how I like to pull in the ancient Korean
Speaker:beauty practices into your skincare practice as a spiritual skincare.
Speaker:Well, I was just thinking about that because when I'm,
Speaker:at the end of the day,
Speaker:a long day,
Speaker:I finally go upstairs and I'm ready to get ready for
Speaker:bed. I have my routines that I go through and it's
Speaker:like another chore really?
Speaker:Yes. Brushing my teeth,
Speaker:washing my face,
Speaker:putting on whatever I'm putting on.
Speaker:What you are suggesting is make it into an experience.
Speaker:You're already spending the time,
Speaker:right? We're we're considering that everyone washes their face before bed.
Speaker:Cuz I know there are some people who don't do that.
Speaker:So we're just go starting with that.
Speaker:But you're already putting in the time to do it.
Speaker:Why not enrich that experience to make it more valuable?
Speaker:Give all the benefits that you're talking about and enjoy it.
Speaker:Have it be a beautiful experience,
Speaker:right? Yes.
Speaker:Beautifully said.
Speaker:And also,
Speaker:it is an opportunity to connect with your inner being and
Speaker:to connect with your feminine energy.
Speaker:It's an opportunity for you to just take one moment,
Speaker:one minute for some non-negotiable me time,
Speaker:which is very hard for us to do,
Speaker:especially if you have kids,
Speaker:a significant other or a busy life like we all do,
Speaker:right? This is just a moment for you to reconnect and
Speaker:think to yourself,
Speaker:I matter.
Speaker:And it's fun,
Speaker:this rubbing of your hands vigorously.
Speaker:And you just feel this chronic energy,
Speaker:this energy,
Speaker:this aura.
Speaker:And it's fun to play with it.
Speaker:It's fun to connect to It.
Speaker:And it's something that fits into your day easily.
Speaker:Because your trigger to remember to do it is you're washing
Speaker:your face twice a day.
Speaker:Yeah. So it's not hard to forget to do it because
Speaker:you're already doing some type of actions.
Speaker:You just do it a different way with more intention,
Speaker:more purpose,
Speaker:more visualization.
Speaker:And I would like to add,
Speaker:yes, when you are connecting to your personal energy on a
Speaker:regular basis,
Speaker:you become very aware of how that energy feels.
Speaker:And it's very positive.
Speaker:It's very beautiful,
Speaker:it's very radiant.
Speaker:And then it's not just your personal energy.
Speaker:You become aware of how other people's energy affects you,
Speaker:right? And then you notice if you feel fulfilled,
Speaker:do you feel fulfilled,
Speaker:or do you feel drained after a certain interaction?
Speaker:And this is very important when you're starting to build a
Speaker:hobby into a business,
Speaker:or you're starting to just make something that you created and
Speaker:you're trying to sell it,
Speaker:right? You're going to start working with other people.
Speaker:And so you want to be very aware of their energy,
Speaker:how your energy feels.
Speaker:And energy together as a collective is very powerful.
Speaker:So you wanna surround yourself with something that's uplifting and positive.
Speaker:And so you're saying you start to sense how different people's
Speaker:behaviors or mannerisms resonate with you,
Speaker:and you wanna stay with more of those types of people
Speaker:to make you your best self.
Speaker:Yes. If you're vibrating at your highest energy,
Speaker:at your highest self,
Speaker:you tend to attract the same frequency,
Speaker:the same vibration,
Speaker:the same positivity into your life.
Speaker:You're like a magnet,
Speaker:right? So that's why you start to become very aware of
Speaker:other people's energy.
Speaker:And if it doesn't resonate,
Speaker:sometimes it is,
Speaker:it's just your daughter.
Speaker:I always say,
Speaker:you're not vibing me right now,
Speaker:Sienna. I need some space.
Speaker:But then even that knowledge,
Speaker:and she says it back to me too,
Speaker:she's like,
Speaker:mom, I don't feel like you're vibrating at your highest energy.
Speaker:And I'd be like,
Speaker:you're know what,
Speaker:Sienna, you're right.
Speaker:You're right.
Speaker:She's a teenager now.
Speaker:We both need some space.
Speaker:So let's take some space and come and reset and we'll
Speaker:try this again.
Speaker:And so you become very aware of how your energy is
Speaker:affecting others and how it's affect their energy is affecting you.
Speaker:And then you can reset,
Speaker:recalibrate. Or you can also,
Speaker:if they're not your family,
Speaker:you can also choose to not be around that energy.
Speaker:Right. Or have a reason.
Speaker:Like we just this morning had a customer in my other
Speaker:business who's very demanding.
Speaker:I mean,
Speaker:she doesn't even give a chance for information to come through
Speaker:before. She's saying,
Speaker:you're not doing this,
Speaker:you're not doing that.
Speaker:You know,
Speaker:like automatically putting people on the defensive.
Speaker:And we always wanna make customers feel good,
Speaker:right? And the way to do that is to understand how
Speaker:it's being perceived by us and accept that and let it
Speaker:pass. Like do what we need to do so that she
Speaker:feels good and let it pass.
Speaker:Now, I'm not talking abusive if it got to that point,
Speaker:it's a whole different conversation.
Speaker:But just that aura.
Speaker:And she's just,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:we have just a handful of customers who just seem to
Speaker:fall on another side where we're always like,
Speaker:if a call's coming in,
Speaker:it's like,
Speaker:ugh. Like you're already setting yourself up.
Speaker:Right? But knowing that that's the energy you feel is gonna
Speaker:happen, you can also preset your responses accordingly so that they're
Speaker:appropriate and Right.
Speaker:Exactly. And in a way,
Speaker:what you want to be doing is protect your energy.
Speaker:He's not affecting you.
Speaker:He or she is not affecting you in any shape or
Speaker:form because it's a daily practice to make sure that your
Speaker:energy is alive and vibrant.
Speaker:And I would like to say,
Speaker:when you are building a business or hobby or whatever it
Speaker:is that you're doing,
Speaker:there's a lot of output.
Speaker:And there's,
Speaker:as you saw from my story,
Speaker:there's a lot of rejection and it's sometimes very challenging.
Speaker:And there are days when you start to feel like you
Speaker:want to give up.
Speaker:And if you don't connect to your inner essence,
Speaker:your soul on a regular basis,
Speaker:it's just like a relationship with yourself.
Speaker:If you don't connect to an and if your relationship with
Speaker:yourself is not high vibe or positive,
Speaker:or if you're mean girling yourself,
Speaker:which is something I've done to myself in the past,
Speaker:you should be doing this.
Speaker:You need to be more successful.
Speaker:Once you get that relationship with yourself,
Speaker:right, then you tend to radiate a light that protects you.
Speaker:You just instinctively know how to handle the energy that doesn't
Speaker:resonate with you.
Speaker:So Sue,
Speaker:I like what you said,
Speaker:that you're setting boundaries,
Speaker:and they don't have to be mean boundaries.
Speaker:They're just boundaries.
Speaker:Like, no,
Speaker:that's not going to work for us.
Speaker:And if someone,
Speaker:it doesn't sit well with you,
Speaker:it doesn't mean that they're a bad person,
Speaker:it's just that their style is different.
Speaker:Right. You know that their way of communicating is different,
Speaker:it just doesn't mesh properly.
Speaker:Yeah. So there's nothing wrong with that person,
Speaker:you know?
Speaker:But you don't want it to affect you,
Speaker:as you were saying.
Speaker:Yes. So where does meditation fall in all of this that
Speaker:we've talked about?
Speaker:Okay. So as I said earlier,
Speaker:meditation is can be a very intimidating,
Speaker:scary word.
Speaker:And in fact,
Speaker:I cannot just sit still.
Speaker:Like I can't just sit there and do nothing.
Speaker:That's not in my mo.
Speaker:I'm very type A.
Speaker:Right? So for those of type A women out there,
Speaker:there's hope.
Speaker:I started to take some Kundolini yoga classes.
Speaker:Have you ever heard of Kundalini?
Speaker:I have not.
Speaker:Okay. So Kundolini is,
Speaker:I'll just say what it is for me.
Speaker:It is activating your feminine energy,
Speaker:creativity, and intuition,
Speaker:activating it and bringing it to life.
Speaker:So it's believed that this Kundalini life force energy is deep
Speaker:in your pelvic area.
Speaker:And so when you activate it,
Speaker:you're able to radiate your highest self.
Speaker:So, okay,
Speaker:let me make that a little bit less woowoo.
Speaker:It's breath work,
Speaker:it's mantras,
Speaker:and it's just clearing of your,
Speaker:any of the distractions that are in your head.
Speaker:So breath work helps me to meditate.
Speaker:Meditate. So for example,
Speaker:I will do something like 1,
Speaker:2, 3,
Speaker:4, 5,
Speaker:6, 7,
Speaker:8, 9,
Speaker:10. And then you hold your breath for 10 seconds and
Speaker:then you let your breath go and you're counting 1,
Speaker:2, 3.
Speaker:So maybe it's because I was a musician,
Speaker:but the rhythm of that keeps my focus.
Speaker:And then I'll just say,
Speaker:I'm just going to do that 10 times.
Speaker:And you're actually saying the words,
Speaker:it's not like breathing it,
Speaker:you're actually counting and saying it.
Speaker:Or are you breathing in a breath to that beat?
Speaker:It's hard to breathe and say it out loud.
Speaker:So you're kind of saying it in your mind's eye.
Speaker:Right? I even visualize the number.
Speaker:So it's like what,
Speaker:2, 3,
Speaker:4, 5,
Speaker:6, 7.
Speaker:And you wanna breathe from your stomach.
Speaker:So right now,
Speaker:while I'm doing that,
Speaker:I'm holding my right under my belly button.
Speaker:My left hand is here,
Speaker:and as I'm breathing out,
Speaker:my stomach is filling up like a balloon.
Speaker:And when I'm breathing in,
Speaker:my belly button is going back to my spine.
Speaker:So that in itself is very challenging to master.
Speaker:It's something I did as a pianist to instantly relax during
Speaker:a moment of stress and to get into a flow state.
Speaker:So it's 1,
Speaker:2, 3,
Speaker:4, 5,
Speaker:6, 7,
Speaker:8, 9,
Speaker:10. And then can you hold your breath for that long
Speaker:and then release it and I'll do that.
Speaker:Or if that's too hard,
Speaker:you could even do 1,
Speaker:2, 3,
Speaker:4, hold,
Speaker:2, 3,
Speaker:4, out,
Speaker:2, 3,
Speaker:4, 5,
Speaker:6 in 2,
Speaker:3, 4.
Speaker:Hold. Okay.
Speaker:So you can even do that.
Speaker:And the numbers and the rhythm and the breath work,
Speaker:active breath work really holds my attention.
Speaker:And if you can even just do that for one minute.
Speaker:There you go.
Speaker:That's very powerful.
Speaker:And what does that do for You?
Speaker:It instantly calms you down.
Speaker:It gets you to breathe so that your lungs are breathing
Speaker:in what you need,
Speaker:sustenance, abundance,
Speaker:and life,
Speaker:right? If you're breathing in and then exhaling what no longer
Speaker:serves you.
Speaker:And it's just one minute might feel really good.
Speaker:So you might wanna do it for two minutes,
Speaker:maybe it'll stretch to five minutes.
Speaker:Now we don't have time to get into it,
Speaker:but there's a lot more that you can do.
Speaker:With Kundalini yoga that I'm doing,
Speaker:it's, you can do a lot of shoulder shrugs,
Speaker:neck rolls,
Speaker:there's cat cow that you can do with this breathing.
Speaker:That to me is meditative.
Speaker:So then let me take it into real life,
Speaker:Sue, because I'm very practical and I'm a multitasking mom.
Speaker:So even when I'm cooking,
Speaker:I try to center myself through just longer slowing down my
Speaker:breath. And when you're chopping onions,
Speaker:you can't check your iPhone,
Speaker:can't check your phone.
Speaker:Good point.
Speaker:So it's tech free time,
Speaker:right? So you could,
Speaker:I think cooking can be meditative.
Speaker:I think vacuuming can be meditative.
Speaker:When you're vacuuming,
Speaker:you're moving,
Speaker:you're moving your body,
Speaker:it's movement,
Speaker:meditation, and you can get into a meditative state by being
Speaker:very grateful that you have a moment to just maybe put
Speaker:on your earbuds and listen to music.
Speaker:And I just taught you how you can make your skincare
Speaker:routine into a meditative moment.
Speaker:Yeah. With the experience I was mentioning that I've learned a
Speaker:little bit how to meditate.
Speaker:I like to go out walking,
Speaker:but because I'm type A personality,
Speaker:I am gonna listen to a podcast or an audiobook or
Speaker:like I'm not just gonna walk.
Speaker:Yes. And so finally,
Speaker:I decided,
Speaker:no, Sue,
Speaker:for 10 minutes of your walk,
Speaker:you're gonna be in complete silence and you're gonna walk.
Speaker:And that meditating,
Speaker:I've been told,
Speaker:and it really does help.
Speaker:It grounds me,
Speaker:it makes me calmer,
Speaker:reflective, different things in my life or my day or whatever.
Speaker:So I'm getting there.
Speaker:So now I'm gonna include your steps in too for this.
Speaker:Yes. I think we always think meditating is sitting with your
Speaker:legs crossed your palms up,
Speaker:you know,
Speaker:like the old images,
Speaker:right? And that's not what meditating is today.
Speaker:Right. I think that you can make that a meditative goal.
Speaker:Like you can sit like a yogi for hours if that's
Speaker:what you wanna do.
Speaker:But you can also just take a full breath in and
Speaker:that can be the first journey into a more mindful,
Speaker:purposeful way of living life.
Speaker:Okay. Well these have been great pieces of information,
Speaker:great tips.
Speaker:Your story is so interesting.
Speaker:I could talk to you for another two hours,
Speaker:but I know we can't do that.
Speaker:I know we can't.
Speaker:Thank You so much.
Speaker:I wanna talk with you a little bit about your book,
Speaker:because inside your book are some meditations,
Speaker:if I'm accurate,
Speaker:cuz I've been skimming it already.
Speaker:So share with us more about your book and then we'll
Speaker:go from there.
Speaker:Okay. Well,
Speaker:radical radiance is 12 weeks of self-love rituals to manifest abundance,
Speaker:beauty, and joy.
Speaker:And I guess what you could say is for those of
Speaker:your listeners who are trying to start a business or have
Speaker:started a business,
Speaker:you could also look at it like raise your radiance to
Speaker:raise your revenue.
Speaker:Really, how do you become a successful person?
Speaker:Not by doing,
Speaker:doing, doing in your masculine energy,
Speaker:but by sitting in your feminine energy,
Speaker:which is creative wise,
Speaker:powerful to build life in a different way.
Speaker:And so I include 52 rituals to discover and fall in
Speaker:love with your soul.
Speaker:And soul is a very big word,
Speaker:but what it is,
Speaker:is it's your inner essence.
Speaker:It's your inner being and how is your relationship with your
Speaker:inner being,
Speaker:and are you treating it as it should be the most
Speaker:important relationship in your life?
Speaker:Because once you are able to have a good relationship with
Speaker:yourself and treat yourself with love and gentleness and kindness,
Speaker:you will improve your relationships with other people.
Speaker:Right? Self-love to me is all about a love that overflows
Speaker:from a radiant abundant source so that you can fill the
Speaker:cups of of others too.
Speaker:Yes. That's self-love.
Speaker:And we as makers are also very interested in being givers.
Speaker:So to give something out to other people,
Speaker:our products of course,
Speaker:but also that energy to make them feel good.
Speaker:As you were mentioning,
Speaker:high energy attracts high energy.
Speaker:We can have an effect on others too.
Speaker:But I'm really excited.
Speaker:I just got the book yesterday,
Speaker:so I haven't had a chance to dive in yet.
Speaker:But I love the way it's structured.
Speaker:There's an overlay as you were just talking about with the
Speaker:experience of washing your face at the end of the night,
Speaker:but there's an overlay with your products.
Speaker:I saw some opportunity for upgrades of certain things that you
Speaker:talk about by adding candles,
Speaker:like lots of different options to give these rituals even more
Speaker:that align with you.
Speaker:It's not like you have to do it this one way
Speaker:and one way only.
Speaker:Right? So really there are 50 simple,
Speaker:yet very powerful rituals such as exfoliating,
Speaker:the skin for renewal,
Speaker:taking self-care sabbaticals,
Speaker:creating your own customized affirmations,
Speaker:achieving purposeful productivity and seven minute increments.
Speaker:I have a little secret there.
Speaker:You can meditate with an I receive mantra.
Speaker:I even include a vibrational deep cleanse in there.
Speaker:There's a breast facial in there,
Speaker:Sue. Getting the gratitude glow.
Speaker:There's so many really fun,
Speaker:simple, ready to plug into your life rituals.
Speaker:Yes. Wonderful.
Speaker:Well, I am,
Speaker:like I said,
Speaker:super excited.
Speaker:I wish I'd had it a couple days earlier,
Speaker:but we did this interview really fast.
Speaker:You know,
Speaker:we decided we were doing it and that now it's here
Speaker:already, so we didn't have the chance to get that done.
Speaker:But I encourage everybody to go ahead and get this book
Speaker:and take a look at it because it is well,
Speaker:well worth it.
Speaker:And I know that you have a bonus gift for us
Speaker:once you get this book,
Speaker:so why don't you share that.

Speaker:virtual goodie bag.

Speaker:I've already been perusing those as well.
Speaker:I saw that they're numbered in order,
Speaker:right? Yes.
Speaker:Do you need to purchase all of them in order for
Speaker:it to work,
Speaker:or can you kind of fill in where your routine is
Speaker:missing certain elements?
Speaker:Yes, you can fill in.
Speaker:So it's,
Speaker:thank you for pointing that out.
Speaker:It's numbered,
Speaker:so it makes it very easy.
Speaker:Do this first,
Speaker:do this second,
Speaker:do this third.
Speaker:I would say yes,
Speaker:what you said.
Speaker:You can fill in your routine with a cleanser,
Speaker:a toner,
Speaker:a face cream.
Speaker:An eye cream.
Speaker:If you want to know,
Speaker:one of our best sellers is our pumpkin serum.
Speaker:It flies off the shelves and our truffle face cream.
Speaker:People love it because a little goes such a long way.
Speaker:You have to think of it as a concentrate.
Speaker:So you use one eighth of what you normally use.
Speaker:That would be my first recommendation to start.
Speaker:Okay, wonderful.
Speaker:So we've gotten business learning,
Speaker:understanding your lover system,
Speaker:which is perfect.
Speaker:And then a little bit of just personal reward of how
Speaker:to increase our energy,
Speaker:I guess you'd say vibrate and radiate at a higher level
Speaker:to increase our life overall.
Speaker:And also shed energy out,
Speaker:which then will help other people as Well.
Speaker:Perfect. I don't know what else you could have brought today,
Speaker:Angela. It's the whole package.
Speaker:Thank you so much,
Speaker:Sue, for having me.
Speaker:I'm really grateful for your time.
Speaker:Oh, thank you so much for coming on the show.
Speaker:Since the time we recorded our talk,
Speaker:I've had an opportunity to dive into Angela's book.
Speaker:Never before have I heard a morning and evening beauty routine
Speaker:described so well complete with steps,
Speaker:reasons, and ways to make it your own.
Speaker:Also, remember the exercise she had me do with rubbing my
Speaker:hands together.
Speaker:Perhaps you did it right along with us during the podcast.
Speaker:Well included in her book is what she calls a radiant
Speaker:facial massage.
Speaker:That is amazing.
Speaker:It only takes a few minutes and is intended to increase
Speaker:circulation glow and stimulate collagen to reduce wrinkles.
Speaker:Plus, it just feels so luxurious.
Speaker:I've been doing it every night since reading about it,
Speaker:and it puts me in a state of self-love and gratification,
Speaker:a perfect setup for a good night's sleep,
Speaker:and we all know how important that is.
Speaker:That's just some of what I'm discovering and working through in
Speaker:the book.
