Content of Today’s Episode
This episode of the Atlanta Tennis Podcast discusses the significance of perfecting volleys in various situations. Learn why beginning near the net isn't always possible, and how combining volleys from behind the service line, inside the service line, and even further back can improve your.
Volley Technique: Experiment with a greater variety of shots, such as swinging, low, high, and half volleys.
Footwork and Court Coverage: Improve your ability to transition seamlessly from baseline to net and back, allowing you to react quickly to various ball placements.
Net Confidence: Improve your versatility and adaptability as a net player, exerting pressure on your opponent from all angles of the court.
Here are Coach Ben's key pointers to improve your volleys:
- Vary Your Volleying Position: To volley successfully and with target, you may choose to change your stance to any of the court-related zones. Practising in this way has the advantage of preparing you to handle volleys when you do end up at the net during a match.
- Work on Different Types of Volley: The repetitions of practice pick a challenging portfolio of various participants in volley drills, swing volley drills, deep court half-volley recoveries, and low volleys. Also, your confidence level during the actual game will increase the more you modify your volleyball practice.
- Simulate Game Situations: When rallying with a partner, practice these various volley styles in different areas of the court. This will boost your ability to seamlessly migrate to the internet and increase your total net presence.
