Introduction

This is Michelle Lasley. I call all of my work Balance Shared because I truly do believe we are better together.

Season 3 Introduction

This is Season 3, where we discuss non-linear paths to finding your purpose. I interviewed over 35 people to hear their circuitous path to finding their purpose right now.

Transcripts

Michelle Lasley:

My guest today is Jillian Rothschild Scholar.

2

:

She uses the pronoun she, her, hers.

3

:

Jillian has found her purpose to be to

help people who are feeling tormented with

4

:

big unanswered life questions, but are

unable to choose which direction to go.

5

:

So they are looking for someone they

can trust to get clarity, enabling

6

:

them to confidently move forward.

7

:

Jillian is a classically trained feng

shui expert who has been working in

8

:

private feng shui consulting since 2010.

9

:

She helps people who are feeling

tormented with those big questions

10

:

to get clarity and move forward.

11

:

She specializes in collaborating

with clients over time to awaken

12

:

new possibilities and assist

each client in achieving both

13

:

personal and professional goals.

14

:

As part of her classical feng shui,

she consults for both residential

15

:

and business properties worldwide.

16

:

Thank you so much for being here.

17

:

I'm so grateful that we got this to work.

18

:

Jillian Rothschild: Thanks for having me.

19

:

I'm excited to talk with you today.

20

:

Michelle Lasley: So the theme

for season three is nonlinear

21

:

paths to finding your purpose.

22

:

But we also wanted to schedule this

to coincide with the Chinese New Year.

23

:

So before we really get started,

can you just name for me

24

:

when the Chinese New Year is?

25

:

Okay.

26

:

Jillian Rothschild: So there's

like 40 different calendars

27

:

out there in the world, right?

28

:

When we talk about Chinese New

Year, there are two different

29

:

calendars that are referenced.

30

:

One is the lunar calendar and

one is the solar calendar.

31

:

In the work that I do, I focus on the Sha

calendar, which is the solar calendar.

32

:

Known as the farmer's calendar.

33

:

It's fascinatingly accurate.

34

:

It records the passage of time

and is a tool for forecasting.

35

:

And it holds all the information about

time presented in four sections, a

36

:

year, a month, a day, and an hour.

37

:

And it uses the five elements.

38

:

And I mentioned, there's

also a lunar calendar.

39

:

So, the lunar calendar is identified

as the more commonly celebrated date

40

:

for Chinese New Year, it changes

pretty significantly every year.

41

:

It could be January, it could be later

in February, that's a lunar calendar,

42

:

so it can change pretty significantly.

43

:

The solar calendar shifts only by a few

hours, actually, every year, because it's

44

:

a solar calendar, it's very reliable.

45

:

And that is the calendar that we use

and In my experience is more suitable

46

:

for the kind of forecasting that

we identify for Chinese New Year.

47

:

So, the lunar calendar says that

the lunar New Year is February 1st

48

:

of 22, and the solar calendar says

that the year of the tiger begins

49

:

on February 4th at 4: 51am, 22.

50

:

Michelle Lasley: What time zone?

51

:

Jillian Rothschild: wherever

time zone you're in,

52

:

Michelle Lasley: Oh,

53

:

Jillian Rothschild: right?

54

:

So it's your local time when, of

course, if you're living in China,

55

:

you know, the, they say it's,

this is when the year begins but

56

:

because our world rotates, right?

57

:

The hour changes when it hits you

just like every other new year, right?

58

:

Michelle Lasley: All right.

59

:

What was the time one more time?

60

:

Jillian Rothschild: 4.

61

:

52, 4.

62

:

51 a.

63

:

m.

64

:

on February 4th.

65

:

Michelle Lasley: That's fascinating.

66

:

Okay.

67

:

We'll spend more time

on the Chinese New Year.

68

:

I just needed to get those

69

:

Jillian Rothschild: Yeah, it's, the

timing is really interesting because

70

:

the, there's a calendar called the

Jiqi, which are, they're 24 seasons,

71

:

they're called Jiqi in classical use of

a calendar, the Chinese solar calendar.

72

:

And so the season begins

at a very specific time.

73

:

It's not like, oh, it's just February 4th.

74

:

It begins at a very specific hour.

75

:

So it could be like next year, it could

be, you know, three in the afternoon,

76

:

it could be two in the afternoon, it

could be two in the morning, like it,

77

:

but it only vacillates by a few hours

because of how the solar calendar runs.

78

:

So it's almost always February 4th.

79

:

But what that means is if someone

was born on February 4th at one in

80

:

the morning of 22, they're going

to be born in the year of the ox.

81

:

If they're born February 4th after

451, like Five in the morning or

82

:

six in the morning, they're going

to be born in the year of the tiger.

83

:

That's how specific it is.

84

:

Michelle Lasley: That is so neat.

85

:

Oh my gosh.

86

:

So you've been practicing feng shui and

I would assume your study of the Chinese

87

:

astrology and such for about 12 years.

88

:

Is that right?

89

:

Jillian Rothschild: It seems like forever.

90

:

Yeah.

91

:

I mean, I've been doing this

for over a decade, so that's

92

:

Michelle Lasley: Yeah.

93

:

I had to do the 2022 math, which was a

little weird, but that's another thing.

94

:

Did you always know you wanted

to do something like this?

95

:

Jillian Rothschild: no, I w I was

a little bit of a weird kid and in

96

:

hindsight, I look back and I like move

my furniture around as a kid, but my

97

:

first acknowledgement of doing anything

alternative in Dayton, Ohio, where I grew

98

:

up was like, Arguing with my dad about

the horoscope page of the newspaper.

99

:

Cause the horoscope was on the

same page as the crossword puzzle.

100

:

And that's what, what I remember of

being interested in that kind of stuff.

101

:

But as I aged, it became very

clear that I was not going to be

102

:

doing anything really conventional.

103

:

And I even went down that path.

104

:

I had spent 20 years in

college admissions counseling.

105

:

But on the side I was taking Reiki

and, you know, I was doing Reiki

106

:

work and I was into horoscopes and

doing self help and all these things.

107

:

And it led me to.

108

:

Feng shui.

109

:

Michelle Lasley: Was there any

specific like moment where you're

110

:

like, or was it a series of

little things that kind of landed?

111

:

Feng Shui in your lap.

112

:

Jillian Rothschild: Well, I, I had

actually had a really crappy, for lack of

113

:

a better word, situation in my business

after I moved into a house, actually,

114

:

one of the houses that we bought here in

the city that we currently live in, I had

115

:

moved from my company and the situation.

116

:

started to fall apart very quickly

after we moved into this house, like

117

:

within a few months, the relationship

with the boss wasn't any good.

118

:

My relationship with the

team wasn't any good.

119

:

My spouse wasn't any good.

120

:

Everything felt very unsettled.

121

:

And I had read a couple of books

about Feng Shui and I didn't

122

:

really understand how to apply it.

123

:

And At the end of this really crappy

situation, I remember sitting in my

124

:

living room, like, looking at my newer,

newish house with the kind of empty

125

:

walls that I hadn't decorated, and

I was kind of looking around going,

126

:

like, I wonder if it's the house.

127

:

And that was sort of my low point.

128

:

And that's when I called for help.

129

:

When I called in a feng shui

practitioner and I was like, I need help.

130

:

I wonder if it's the house.

131

:

And that was really my first experience

with having a real application

132

:

of feng shui that I could apply

and then see some results from.

133

:

So

134

:

Michelle Lasley: So what happened next?

135

:

Jillian Rothschild: I, my life started

to change in really amazing ways.

136

:

Things started to feel really good because

the person who came gave me a list of

137

:

things to do and I'm very task oriented.

138

:

So it was like, do this, do

this, do this, do this, do this.

139

:

And I was like, okay, do all these things.

140

:

And it sort of feels like a zipper.

141

:

So it was like, and then everything

kind of clicks together and

142

:

things started to feel better.

143

:

I made a decision about

what to do with my life.

144

:

My work my relationship

with my husband got better.

145

:

And over time I had started to go

down the path of really studying

146

:

Feng Shui because it felt good.

147

:

And then, and then in my business,

when in the work that I was doing,

148

:

I was having a lot of success and

I got a bonus check with a lot of

149

:

extra zeros that I wasn't expecting.

150

:

Michelle Lasley: Congratulations.

151

:

Jillian Rothschild: it was, I

worked really hard for it and it

152

:

was extra zeros I wasn't expecting.

153

:

And my husband was like, cha ching,

there's something to this feng shui thing.

154

:

And that was, I was like, well, if

I can do this, anybody can do this.

155

:

Michelle Lasley: Oh my gosh.

156

:

Jillian Rothschild: then I

really went down the path of.

157

:

finding a master teacher and doing

private mentoring and the way that

158

:

you really should be doing feng

shui, you really shouldn't be trying

159

:

to do it all from a book because I

learned, you know, in hindsight, I

160

:

know it's not all, not all in a book.

161

:

And, uh, so working with my teacher

was really what did the trick for me?

162

:

Michelle Lasley: Do you

still work with your teacher?

163

:

Jillian Rothschild: No, no, I, I'm kind

of, I, you know, I did a year and a half

164

:

of private mentoring with my teacher and

then I just kind of built my, I mean, I

165

:

was still working my day job at the time

when I did my private mentoring with her.

166

:

I was still working my day job and I kind

of did my own thing and I found some other

167

:

teachers and I continue to go deeper in

different aspects of Chinese metaphysics.

168

:

And so, I really feel like that was a

foundational aspect of my training, but

169

:

it's not the only bit of it because.

170

:

Michelle Lasley: Sure.

171

:

Jillian Rothschild: There are some

aspects of metaphysics where people

172

:

will go, you do one thing, and

this is the only thing that you do.

173

:

And you're a purist.

174

:

And that is what you focus on.

175

:

And what I have found in my own

practices, that's not really.

176

:

effective for me, right?

177

:

If a carpenter comes to your

house, you're not going to expect

178

:

them to only bring a hammer.

179

:

You want them to bring a hammer and

a saw and nails and a glue gun and

180

:

a level and all, you know, all the

things that build a table, right?

181

:

So, or in my case, a house.

182

:

So that's how I approach

Chinese metaphysics.

183

:

I have taken the responsibility

of learning different systems and

184

:

different methods and different

perspectives to identify what are the

185

:

best resources to make the results

most effective for my clients.

186

:

Michelle Lasley: Awesome.

187

:

Oh my gosh.

188

:

Okay, so part of the Chinese

metaphysics is Chinese astrology.

189

:

Jillian Rothschild: Yes.

190

:

Michelle Lasley: So, I I'm not that

familiar with Chinese astrology.

191

:

I'm more familiar with, you know, the

Western Greco Roman aspect of things.

192

:

So what is it?

193

:

Jillian Rothschild: Yeah.

194

:

So Chinese astrology is one of

the resources that someone can use

195

:

to understand themselves better.

196

:

It's Chinese astrology is known by the

structure of what the chart looks like.

197

:

It's called the four pillars of destiny.

198

:

So like we had talked about earlier,

when we identify how the year begins,

199

:

every person based on when they're born

and the gender that they were assigned

200

:

at the time of birth is charted out for

a year, a month, a day, and an hour.

201

:

that represents who they are, along

with 10 year luck pillars and it, it

202

:

kind of acts like a guide or a compass,

for lack of a better word that helps

203

:

you understand what your life, sort

of like a map of your life at a 3, 000

204

:

foot view the kinds of, People you are,

your personality, your talents, your

205

:

gifts, your interactions with family

members, with your spouse, with your

206

:

business, with your clients the kinds of

health things that you might encounter.

207

:

And what's great is when you.

208

:

start to understand your chart,

you can start to see any unforeseen

209

:

circumstances that might arise and

some challenges that you might be going

210

:

through so that you can plan accordingly.

211

:

Like my, and I'm not a Western astrologer,

so I'll say this, like my understanding

212

:

is that Western astrology perspective

generates about 500 different charts,

213

:

and the West Chinese astrology generates,

like over 13 million different variations.

214

:

So it means that someone

is extremely unique.

215

:

And most commonly when people hear

about Chinese astrology, they hear about

216

:

the zodiac signs, the animals that you

see on a Chinese restaurant placemat.

217

:

Like you go to the restaurant and,

oh, I was born in the year of the dog.

218

:

Oh, this tells me about myself.

219

:

And actually That's the year of the

dog or the year of the tiger or the

220

:

year of the pig or whatever, and the

rear of the rabbit, whatever it is

221

:

on your placemat that you fit into.

222

:

But actually that's only like

25 percent of the puzzle because

223

:

it's four pillars of destiny.

224

:

So if you're only looking at the year,

you're only getting one little bit.

225

:

So you might actually look at that

little placemat description and go,

226

:

well, sort of, but not really doesn't

kind of fits, but maybe not all the way.

227

:

And it's because it's not a full picture.

228

:

And so That's why I really find

that learn when, when one learns

229

:

one's own chart, you really start

to understand yourself better.

230

:

What things you're really good at, how you

communicate, how you might make decisions.

231

:

And it just is that.

232

:

Nowadays, the way that we most commonly

identify the zodiac is through the

233

:

animal signs, the 12 animal signs,

the rat, the ox, the tiger, the

234

:

rabbit, the dragon, snake, the horse,

goat, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig.

235

:

So that's one component of the chart

is the animal branches or these

236

:

signs, if you will, the zodiac signs,

and then also the five elements.

237

:

So the five elements that are used

in Chinese metaphysics are water,

238

:

wood, fire, earth, and metal.

239

:

And they also have a

yin and yang polarity.

240

:

So it could be a yin fire or a yang

fire or a yang wood or yin wood.

241

:

And all of these have

behaviors and attributes and

242

:

associations and interactions.

243

:

And it's a, it's like a beautiful

thing to take a look at to see why

244

:

something happened in your life,

why it happened at that time.

245

:

And based on your interaction with that

energy in the past, you can get a forecast

246

:

for what you can expect in the future.

247

:

The next time you

interact with that energy.

248

:

Michelle Lasley: I love that in

249

:

Jillian Rothschild: So much there, right?

250

:

Michelle Lasley: yeah,

there's so, so, so much there.

251

:

Gosh.

252

:

Okay.

253

:

Okay.

254

:

I was just having a conversation with

somebody and with her work, we were

255

:

talking about basically this growth

to, to aligning with your evolved self.

256

:

So a lot of these traditions that

we know of, whether it's Western

257

:

astrology or you know, if you go to

a Christian church or the Enneagram

258

:

is one of my favorite things.

259

:

It's talking about an evolution

of getting into your highest self.

260

:

So.

261

:

I would imagine there's a big piece to

that in the Chinese astrology piece,

262

:

Jillian Rothschild: Sure.

263

:

Right.

264

:

And one of the things that I love

about Chinese astrology is that it

265

:

acknowledges that everything that

you've experiences, have you that

266

:

have you've experienced in your past

will influence you in the future.

267

:

That is to say, if you go to school

and you learn something, you will

268

:

have absorbed the information and

it will become a resource for you.

269

:

You're never going to be

able to be without it.

270

:

Nobody can take it away from you.

271

:

It will influence the things

that you do in the future.

272

:

That's one piece of it.

273

:

And then you can decide based

on those influences, how you

274

:

want to live in the future.

275

:

What kind of choices

that you want to make.

276

:

One of the really cool things about

Chinese metaphysics is there's

277

:

something called the three locks.

278

:

There's heaven, luck, human

luck, and earth lock heaven.

279

:

Luck is like, Your fate, right?

280

:

When you're born, you can't, you don't get

to decide when you're born, like, you're

281

:

born and you're born into a situation

or a family or a part of the world.

282

:

Like that's just your fate.

283

:

And it's not until you become older

that you can exert your free will and

284

:

go, I don't want to live here anymore.

285

:

I want to live somewhere else.

286

:

I don't like these people

who I grew up with.

287

:

I want to go make other friends, right?

288

:

That's free will.

289

:

And that's really your human luck.

290

:

And then earth luck is

your feng shui, which is.

291

:

The energy of the

physical space around you.

292

:

So the really cool thing about Chinese

astrology is that there is really a

293

:

difference between fate and destiny.

294

:

What is fated is going to come to

you regardless, but you can, with

295

:

your free will adjust your destiny.

296

:

Which is amazing, because if your

chart says, for example, that you

297

:

are going to have a marriage come

in, you can still say no to that.

298

:

Like, you can still say, I've been married

twice before, I'm not going to get married

299

:

the third time, like, I'm not doing this.

300

:

Or, you know, my chart says that

something might change for me,

301

:

maybe I'm going to move, or maybe

I'm going to have a job change.

302

:

And you can decide if that's

something that you want.

303

:

You can, you have free will.

304

:

The other cool thing about it is you

can also take advantage of knowing

305

:

that information in advance and be

the driver of the change instead

306

:

of being at the effect of a change.

307

:

If your chart says, Hey, I'm going

to have a job change and you already

308

:

know that you don't like your job.

309

:

Then you can be looking for a, go

look for something that you want to go

310

:

find something that makes your heart

sing instead of like waiting to get

311

:

laid off and then trying to figure

out what you're going to do that.

312

:

Knowing this information

can be really empowering.

313

:

Michelle Lasley: Oh, I love that.

314

:

Okay.

315

:

So What does this all mean for 2022?

316

:

Jillian Rothschild:

Well, there's two parts.

317

:

One thing to keep in mind is what

the year of the water tiger will

318

:

bring us because we're coming

into the year of the water tiger.

319

:

So we're getting water element

because it's a yang water

320

:

polarity of the water element.

321

:

So that's like the image is

the strength of the ocean, the

322

:

massive waves of the ocean.

323

:

And the tiger carries the element of yang

wood, which is kind of like the imagery

324

:

of a tree oak tree, something that's very

sturdy, something that's extremely strong.

325

:

So they're both really, really strong

elements that we're coming into.

326

:

And in terms of what we can expect,

This is starting to move away from

327

:

time period when there was a strong

metal element because in:

328

:

was the year of the yang metal rat.

329

:

In 2021 it was the year

of the Yin metal ox.

330

:

So now we're coming into the yang water

tiger, which is great because metal

331

:

element can often indicate destruction.

332

:

Things breaking down or causing calamity.

333

:

And we've certainly all experienced

that in the last couple of

334

:

years in one form or another.

335

:

And we've seen it prevalent

all over the world.

336

:

And what's nice is that element is

completely missing from the year.

337

:

So if there are conflicts, if there

are people dealing with deep emotions

338

:

that are coming through this wave of

ocean wave coming we're less likely

339

:

to see destruction, which is Great.

340

:

And one of the other aspects of

the Yang Water Tiger, which I'm

341

:

really excited about, is that it's

actually a very special formation.

342

:

The formation of Yang Water

Tiger is known as a pillar.

343

:

So we read it from top to

down top to bottom, Yang water

344

:

on top and the tiger below.

345

:

And this pillar is known

as a spiritual pillar.

346

:

There's only 10 of them and this is one.

347

:

So we're really starting just from that

little bit, we get some information

348

:

about what we can expect in the year.

349

:

If a person has this pillar in their

chart, they are, they could be timid.

350

:

They could be aggressive.

351

:

They could be sensitive.

352

:

They could be relying heavily on intuition

sometimes having an uncompromising

353

:

mindset, like a one track mind.

354

:

And the spiritual aspect is somebody

who's spiritually intelligent, has an

355

:

exceptionally high learning ability.

356

:

Interest in spiritual enlightenment

or spiritual practice and having a

357

:

greater understanding of human emotions.

358

:

That's really exciting to me because.

359

:

I feel like that's definitely been

lacking over the last couple of years.

360

:

And the idea that we will, as we will

all be under the effect of caring

361

:

more about people's emotions, mental

health, emotional health, and seeing

362

:

people being interested in developing

more of a spiritual practice is really

363

:

exciting because we start to, when we do

spiritual practice, we start to go, Oh,

364

:

there must be something bigger in the

world than just me and what's my place

365

:

here and what's my purpose and how can

I do something for the greater good?

366

:

And.

367

:

How can I elevate myself?

368

:

What can I manifest?

369

:

And that is really exciting because

this becomes the starting point

370

:

for a ripple effect that will

happen over the next 12 years.

371

:

So that's one piece of what we can

expect for this particular year.

372

:

And then every year when we talk about

feng shui, People want to talk about

373

:

a system called the flying stars.

374

:

The flying stars is essentially says

that your home or your office is

375

:

affected by annual energetic influences.

376

:

So what are flying stars?

377

:

This is really a system of calculating

how energy moves and behaves.

378

:

Because it works quickly compared

to other feng shui methods.

379

:

It's a very popular system to

talk about for Chinese New Year.

380

:

So what are these stars?

381

:

These stars are unseen energy that

behaves in very distinct ways based

382

:

on the environment that it's in.

383

:

And so when we say stars, Flying

stars, the term fly means they're

384

:

not stagnant, they move and they

keep changing their position.

385

:

And as the name implies, the

annual stars can exert their

386

:

influence only for one year.

387

:

So they become vibrant, they become

really important because they're

388

:

around for a short period of time

and they have a lot of influence.

389

:

Kind of like, When your in laws

come to visit, you want to know when

390

:

they're coming and where they're

going to be staying and what kind

391

:

of behavior you can expect from them

so that you can plan accordingly.

392

:

Same thing with your home.

393

:

This particular year, if anybody's

familiar with feng shui, the position

394

:

of the stars that are visiting for this

year are the same as their home position.

395

:

In something called the low shoe.

396

:

The low shoe indicates the original

position of all the flying stars.

397

:

So essentially, they're

going to their home palaces.

398

:

They're going home.

399

:

And so what does that mean?

400

:

It simply means they're

pretty comfortable.

401

:

They're like hanging

out with good friends.

402

:

They're, assuming that the environment

is supportive to that particular star.

403

:

They're generally on pretty good

behavior, which we like because when

404

:

stars are not on their best behavior,

then they exert negative characteristics.

405

:

And so the flying stars,

there are nine of them.

406

:

The star one and they're there.

407

:

I should say this,

their most common names.

408

:

Are identified by a number

and a characteristic.

409

:

So for example, star one is

known as a noble people star.

410

:

Star two is known as a sickness star.

411

:

Star three is known as an argument star.

412

:

Star four is known for

romance, travel, and education.

413

:

Star five is the misfortune calamity star.

414

:

Star six is the career and authority star.

415

:

Star seven is known as a robbery star.

416

:

Star eight is known as a current

wealth or current money star.

417

:

And star nine is known as

future wealth or future money.

418

:

And so that's the common

way that you'll see them.

419

:

And the thing to do, this is

how I do this in my practice.

420

:

And this is what I recommend to first

thing to do is to identify your own

421

:

life star number or your own life.

422

:

And when you know your life star

number, that particular number

423

:

will also carry within an element.

424

:

If you're not sure how to do this,

on my website there's something

425

:

called a, a BOTSA calculator,

a B A Z I or BAZI calculator.

426

:

And you can put in your birthday

information and you can put in your

427

:

gender assigned at the time of your birth.

428

:

And it'll generate this beautiful Chinese

astrology chart and tell you what your

429

:

life star or your life Gua number is.

430

:

Michelle Lasley: What's

your website really quick.

431

:

Jillian Rothschild: The

website is fsinmotion.

432

:

com.

433

:

And if you're typing

it in, it's fsnmotion.

434

:

com slash B A Z I hyphen calculator.

435

:

That is the, that's the page to

get to the calculator, but it's

436

:

also under the services section.

437

:

So you can just go to fsnmotion.

438

:

com, go to services, and the

calculator is right there.

439

:

And it's free, so you can go in

and you can put your information,

440

:

you get this great little chart.

441

:

And what's kind of cool is you can

just do a little bit of research on

442

:

the, what's called the productive

cycle on the five elements.

443

:

And so knowing your life star number,

you can then choose which of the flying

444

:

stars to hang out with where they're

positioned and what rooms to use and

445

:

what position they're in this year.

446

:

So you can get the energy from that star

to benefit you in a way that's supportive.

447

:

So for example, if I am a Gua

three or a star three person

448

:

that carries the element of wood.

449

:

And so star one carries the

element Of water element.

450

:

And so what that means

is water produces wood.

451

:

So if I'm a Gua three person, I might

want to go hang out where star one is.

452

:

And star one is going to be

located in the north this year.

453

:

So what that gives me

is it gives me resource.

454

:

It helps me feel nourished.

455

:

It helps me with education, helps me with

love and appreciation, the things that

456

:

make me feel good and give me resource.

457

:

The other thing that someone can do is

someone can use their output element.

458

:

Okay.

459

:

So we'll just continue using

star three as an example.

460

:

Gua three or star three is

the same interchangeable term.

461

:

So we know that Gua

three is a wood element.

462

:

If that's my, my, my Gua, my

output, what wood produces, right?

463

:

You take wood, you put it on a

fire and it makes the fire grow.

464

:

So star nine would be fire element star.

465

:

So To my Gua3, star 9 is my output.

466

:

And if I go to the area where star 9

is, it can help me with productivity,

467

:

it can help me with focus, it can

help me with being, I mean, being

468

:

more productive and having output.

469

:

And when I do that, I can make money.

470

:

When I'm productive and I

do stuff, I can make money.

471

:

So this is how you use the Feng

Shui stars to your advantage.

472

:

Michelle Lasley: So many things here.

473

:

Jillian Rothschild: So much

I know there's so much there.

474

:

Michelle Lasley: What do

you mean go to that area?

475

:

Like, are you talking,

476

:

Jillian Rothschild: So the low shoe

is a very specific arrangement of

477

:

energy and the low shoe says that the

star four resides in the southeast,

478

:

star nine resides in the south,

star two resides in the southwest,

479

:

star three resides in the east.

480

:

Star five resides in

the center, if you will.

481

:

Star seven resides in the west.

482

:

Star eight resides in the northeast.

483

:

Star one resides in the north, and

star six resides in the northwest.

484

:

So if I'm a Gua three person and

I want to take advantage of star

485

:

one, I'm going to go spend time

in the North sector of my home.

486

:

Michelle Lasley: Interesting.

487

:

Jillian Rothschild: I'm a Gua three

person and I want to take advantage

488

:

of my output star, which is star nine,

I'm going to spend time in the South,

489

:

which is the home position of that star.

490

:

And that's where it is this year.

491

:

That's how you use that.

492

:

Michelle Lasley: Interesting.

493

:

Interesting.

494

:

So fascinating.

495

:

So you could.

496

:

Theoretically, just rearrange your home

within I mean, probably your kitchen's

497

:

not going to change its position,

498

:

Jillian Rothschild: Yeah, your kitchen's

probably even the changing a kitchen is

499

:

very expensive and usually not something

that we do here in America, although it

500

:

may be a little bit easier for you to

change the position of your bedroom right

501

:

if you have, if you are in a home where

you have more than one bedroom, and the

502

:

bedroom that you're in is With a star that

is not so comfortable for you or things

503

:

are not going as well as you would like

them to go, then you could try sleeping

504

:

in a different room with a different star.

505

:

And the other cool thing about that

Bazi calculator is that when it gives

506

:

you your life star number, it will

also give you your lucky directions.

507

:

So like a more advanced technique

is go, okay, I'm a Gua three person.

508

:

I'm going to go sleep in the

North because it's my resource.

509

:

And.

510

:

The southeast is one

of my lucky directions.

511

:

So then I'm going to turn my

bed so that the head of my bed

512

:

is to the southeast direction.

513

:

So then I get like a twofer.

514

:

It's like I get the sector

and I get a good direction.

515

:

Michelle Lasley: Right, and I

would imagine you could even

516

:

do this on a room level, right?

517

:

So, like, in some houses, like, so our

house, we have 758 livable square feet.

518

:

We live in Portland, Oregon,

519

:

Jillian Rothschild: right

520

:

Michelle Lasley: so, like, our

room is my husband and ours room.

521

:

We're not going to be changing rooms,

522

:

The kid gets his room.

523

:

So, like, you could probably,

like, say he's having some bad

524

:

sleep or school isn't going.

525

:

Like, we could rearrange

his room then to accommodate

526

:

Jillian Rothschild: Yep.

527

:

Yep.

528

:

That's a much more advanced technique,

but it's something that we do as

529

:

practitioners is we can take, we can

take this map, if you will, and we can

530

:

make a microcosm of it or a macrocosm.

531

:

And so we can shrink it for a space.

532

:

And there are some advanced

things that we can do.

533

:

To give somebody something,

something tweak it fine.

534

:

We call it fine tuning to fine

tune something very specific.

535

:

Michelle Lasley: We only have a couple

minutes left, which is, always happens.

536

:

What are some the three to five takeaways

people could use for the next year?

537

:

This, this year of the the yeah.

538

:

Jillian Rothschild: it's

the year of the water tiger.

539

:

So one thing is to avoid

the negative stuff.

540

:

If you can just avoid the negative

stuff, you're automatically

541

:

you're doing really well.

542

:

So the three areas that

are negative this year.

543

:

Our Northeast three, which is

the position of the grand Duke.

544

:

That's the actual position of the

tiger animal sign on the compass.

545

:

And this is the emperor

energy of the year.

546

:

This is the tie sway is the most

important energy of the year.

547

:

And you don't really want to

disturb the emperor star, you don't

548

:

want to upset the emperor star.

549

:

So you don't want to break ground.

550

:

You don't want to renovate.

551

:

You don't want to.

552

:

Just do repairs in that area of your home.

553

:

Just let that area of

your house be real quiet.

554

:

The next is the north.

555

:

The north carries an energy

called the three killings.

556

:

Generally, You don't want to disturb the

three killings and that's in the north.

557

:

So, again, no repairs, no renovations,

no remodeling, no breaking the ground.

558

:

You don't want to do any of that major

stuff in the north sector this year.

559

:

And the opposite of the grand Duke.

560

:

So I said, the grand Duke was in Northeast

three, the grant, the opposite of

561

:

that is the year breaker or the clash.

562

:

Which is the monkey animal sign

in the Southwest three sector.

563

:

So again, no disrupting the

ground, no repairs, no renovations.

564

:

If you could just avoid that,

like just that alone can be really

565

:

helpful just to avoid negative stuff.

566

:

Yeah, so that would be

one thing I would suggest.

567

:

And the other thing I would say is to

do look at your chart and see what your

568

:

animal signs are in your chart, because

if you have a tiger or a monkey You may

569

:

have more change happening this year.

570

:

You may have more surprises if you will.

571

:

Sometimes things are challenging.

572

:

Sometimes things are really great.

573

:

Like people look at their chart and

they go, I have a tiger in my chart.

574

:

It's going to be my year.

575

:

Cause it's the tiger year.

576

:

And it's actually, it's a little bit of a

myth because it's not always so favorable

577

:

for you, depending on the balance

of elements that are in your chart.

578

:

So it's helpful to do things with

caution, make sure that you're being

579

:

safe, that you're not jumping out of

a perfectly good airplane this year.

580

:

Don't do things that are, I would

consider risky, like anything that

581

:

involves signing your life away to

like base jump or to dive out of

582

:

an airplane or motorcycle riding or

anything that I would consider dangerous.

583

:

Those are the two things I would suggest.

584

:

And then in addition to that,

keeping in mind that here in

585

:

America, we have a lot of stuff.

586

:

We are, spaces are typically bigger

than most of the world's spaces.

587

:

Our homes are generally pretty large

and we just have a lot of stuff.

588

:

And the way to allow energy to come in

is to free up space and decluttering

589

:

is talked about a lot, but the

reason for that is because you cannot

590

:

fill a cup that's already full.

591

:

If it's already full, there's

no room for anything else.

592

:

You do need to get to make space.

593

:

And I just recommend that people use

the time before Chinese New Year to

594

:

do deep cleaning dust, pull out behind

couches, find all the cat toys underneath

595

:

the fridge and underneath the stove.

596

:

And, you know, the cats will be so happy.

597

:

Their toys are back.

598

:

Like you'll find things

that you didn't know.

599

:

And.

600

:

To, to give away the things that

you're not using and repair things

601

:

that are broken and make sure that

you're feeling really ready for

602

:

this new energy that's coming.

603

:

Cause it's coming whether

you're ready or not.

604

:

But the more that you can get ready,

the more you can take advantage of it.

605

:

Michelle Lasley: I love how the Chinese

New Year lands right around Imbolc,

606

:

which is or Candlemas, Bridget's Day.

607

:

And so when you're looking at the

Celtic tradition of the wheel of the

608

:

year, it's like the time of dawning.

609

:

So it's kind of like, you know,

you're looking at these awakenings and

610

:

then in the Western astrology, Aries

season happens shortly after that.

611

:

So I'm fascinated with how

these new year traditions.

612

:

There's a lot of overlay.

613

:

Jillian Rothschild: Yes, I mean,

there's 40 different calendars,

614

:

something like 40 different

calendars out there in the world.

615

:

And there's no one right system.

616

:

You just may find that one, one feels like

it resonates with you more than another.

617

:

And for me, it really resonates because

I spent years making resolutions for

618

:

January 1st on a Gregorian calendar,

but really what ends up happening is

619

:

what I learned is we're still working

with the previous year's energy because

620

:

energy hasn't actually shifted yet.

621

:

And so of course my resolutions weren't

getting me anywhere because it was.

622

:

working with the same unfavorable

energy that wasn't helpful

623

:

to me the previous 11 months.

624

:

So why would I think that it

would be different in January?

625

:

Michelle Lasley: Okay.

626

:

We have like a few seconds

left, which is crazy.

627

:

So, where can people find you

and get connected with your work?

628

:

Jillian Rothschild: Oh, thank you.

629

:

Yeah.

630

:

So, again, the business

is feng shui in motion.

631

:

The website is F S in motion.

632

:

com.

633

:

I'm also on LinkedIn,

Instagram, and Facebook.

634

:

Michelle Lasley: Links to those

on your website, I assume.

635

:

Jillian Rothschild: yeah.

636

:

And anybody who's listening to

this, if they want to get some

637

:

more information about Chinese

new year, I will make available

638

:

a free essential guide available.

639

:

And so I don't know if that's

something we can put in the show notes.

640

:

Michelle Lasley: Yes.

641

:

Thanks.

642

:

Awesome.

643

:

Jillian Rothschild: And it's, it's

got lots of the information that

644

:

I've talked about Chinese New Year

and some of the charts and some

645

:

of the ways so you can understand

how to do the feng shui yourself.

646

:

Michelle Lasley: Awesome.

647

:

That would be terrific.

648

:

Jillian, thank you so much for

being here and cruising through

649

:

Chinese New Year and giving us

like an amazing, amazing overview.

650

:

And there's so many places to dig in,

so please contact Jillian, check her

651

:

out on her website, and thank you.

652

:

Jillian Rothschild: Thank you very much.

653

:

Have a great day.

654

:

Michelle Lasley: You too.
