And now, this week's episode.

Speaker:

For a lot of new podcasters, the question that comes up the most is how much does it cost to

Speaker:

get started? And what equipment should you buy? Well, the good news is, technically, you can get

Speaker:

started for no cost at all. If you want to try podcasting to see if you like it, then you can

Speaker:

just use your phone as your mic and record into that. From there, if you want to edit the recording

Speaker:

before publishing, transfer your audio to your PC or Mac and use a free editing tool like Audacity

Speaker:

or GarageBand to run a quick edit. Then, upload your podcast to a free host like Spotify for

Speaker:

Podcasters, and that lets you send it out to podcast apps like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and more.

Speaker:

If you did want to buy a decent mic, then for as little as $50 you can get something like the Audio-Technica ATR2100x,

Speaker:

which is a great mic and is both USB and XLR.

Speaker:

So, you could connect it via USB to your computer, record and edit on Audacity or GarageBand, and upload to your free host.

Speaker:

This is a great way to start in podcasting for little to no cost, and that way you can see if you enjoy it.

Speaker:

If you do, then you can decide whether to upgrade your equipment or not,

Speaker:

and if you want to use a paid podcasting host and other stuff like that.

Speaker:

The main thing is, don't let cost be a reason for putting you off getting started.

Speaker:

Until the next time, happy podcasting.

Speaker:

Thanks for listening.
