Find out about the Fertility Network UK patient day of action Saturday 25 March 2017

Anya Sizer is a remarkable lady who I've spoken to several times on this podcast. In her work with Fertility Network UK Anya is helping to raise awareness of charity's Patient's Day of Action which is putting the spotlight on the inequality in the provision of NHS-funded IVF treatment in different CCGs around England and Wales. Scotland seems to have created a much fairer system so why can't we?

NICE guidelines recommend 3 rounds of IVF treatment, however, CCG's all over the UK are cutting their allocated funds to the treatment, it seems to have the right information. From success rates being monitored to amounts spent on individual cycles of treatment the cuts being made are so arbitrary that action needs to be taken. Click here to get involved in Fertility Network UK's Right to Try campaign and you can schedule your social media for a joint tweet/Facebook post this Saturday 25th March here.

My second guest is Richard Clothier who has worked tirelessly to lobby Bedford CCG when he and his wife found out that their access to IVF funding had been cut whilst they were going through treatment. The couple thought they were entitled to three rounds and it was cut to one, which sadly was unsuccessful.

Richard has been doing amazing work and as you will hear in our chat, he made a difference in the funding decision. Richard has also been very open about his desire to help others so if you would like his support in lobbying your local CCG you can contact him on Twitter

No wonder @NHSCroydonCCG is under financial special measures when it paid 10x more than some CCGs do for #NHS #IVF https://t.co/FIUGvnqH8p
