Speaker:

Sonny Bonani Franz.

2

:

I am Judy this week's host for the

Creative Spiritual Journey Podcast,

3

:

where GI and I walk with you and talk

about those things that bring us joy

4

:

along this marvelous journey of life.

5

:

Today is day 610.

6

:

It's also September 2nd, 2025, which means

today is our 20th month mark on mission.

7

:

That's an eighth left, which is.

8

:

By the way, the smallest spoon in my

measuring spoons, and it's a strange

9

:

thing to reflect on the past two years and

look ar and look ahead with anticipation

10

:

of what is to come while still trying

to stay present and doing our best.

11

:

Running to the finish line, Eric said it.

12

:

Well, time went fast, but it

sure felt like it took forever.

13

:

Now for today's episode.

14

:

if you listen to this podcast or

read my daily post on Instagram

15

:

and Facebook, you've heard me

mention a place called Greygoose.

16

:

This is where I teach yoga, where

Eric and I go every Sunday at

17

:

sunset on our marriage walks.

18

:

It has become our sanctuary.

19

:

It's so peaceful.

20

:

They have a beautiful lodge there

and a restaurant, and they also have.

21

:

Animals, zebras, wildebeests,

bless, buck spring, bucks

22

:

ostriches, and occasional mongooses.

23

:

We once even saw a monkey,

beautiful birds, We just love this

24

:

If you listen to last episode, I

spoke about walking the golden grass

25

:

field in search for my golden earring.

26

:

Now when we first arrived to New

Castle, South Africa, this was a

27

:

great find to be able to get out

into nature, so close to our home.

28

:

In fact, it is like a three minute drive.

29

:

Ah, it has become my temple in the

wilderness, much like the shoreline

30

:

trail was for me back at home.

31

:

Do you have a place where you retreat to

a sacred place like a temple to commune

32

:

and pray to your father in heaven?

33

:

If you don't go find one because

it will change everything for you.

34

:

When I first got here, I

remember walking and crying.

35

:

I would listen to podcast and

on my Spotify playlist, there

36

:

is a man named Joe MCC Carro.

37

:

He is a performing poet and author

and the host of a podcast called.

38

:

The deep place.

39

:

He's from Australia, so he has this

beautiful Aussie voice and I just

40

:

happened to have a meditation on my

playlist that I would go back to,

41

:

'cause it helped me feel grounded

when my heart wanted to fly back home.

42

:

And it's titled, you Belong.

43

:

So I'm walking down the field and I hear

some beautiful cellos come in and Joe MCC

44

:

Carroll's voice saying, you belong here.

45

:

You know that, don't you?

46

:

You belong here on this earth,

in this world held here.

47

:

You belong here.

48

:

And Oh, I remember thinking, do I?

49

:

Not sure where I belonged and

why I was here in the moment.

50

:

Okay, now, just this week,

walking down this field on Popped.

51

:

You belong here.

52

:

On my playlist, and I'm gonna tell you

this time I cried tears of gratitude.

53

:

Yes, I do belong here.

54

:

I belong here and home.

55

:

Maybe I can work on that

teleporting superpower.

56

:

I was imagining if I could

go back and tell my:

57

:

anything, what would it be?

58

:

Stop moping.

59

:

Look up and be a good cheer.

60

:

God has a plan for you here.

61

:

I might even tell myself to

quit being such a big baby.

62

:

Do you feel at home where

you are right now in life?

63

:

I've come to find this as a

choice, belonging, joy, faith,

64

:

creating love, and especially how

we see God's hand in our life.

65

:

In the October, 2017 general conference,

Elder Ronald Araz Band of the Quorum

66

:

of the 12 Apostles said The Lord's

hand is guiding you by divine design.

67

:

He is in the small details of your

life as well as the major milestones.

68

:

He also said, our lives are like

a chess board, and the Lord moves

69

:

us from one place to another.

70

:

If we are responsive to

spiritual promptings.

71

:

Looking back, we can see

his hand in our lives.

72

:

Ah, isn't that beautiful?

73

:

Can you see God's hand in your life?

74

:

That's been a big takeaway from this

past 20 months for me to see his hand

75

:

in the small details being guided.

76

:

To just the right place at the right

time in order to meet a certain someone.

77

:

I feel his love all around me.

78

:

That's not saying it's been all roses

and a spiritual high, just the opposite.

79

:

Each day's more like making our way

through a thorny field, pleading prayers

80

:

to know what to do and where to go.

81

:

Okay, that might sound a little dramatic,

but I've sidetracked this episode.

82

:

I want to share with you a prayer

journey meditation, and I thought it

83

:

would be fun to try something different.

84

:

How about you take me on a walk with

you out into your wilderness, to your

85

:

temple, and I will share with you a

pattern that has a catchy acronym, PR.

86

:

A Y four steps to help you remember

when you want to go undo this

87

:

prayer journey meditation solo.

88

:

We won't have any music

playing in the background.

89

:

Um, I want you to experience the

sounds of the life around you, and

90

:

I won't be guiding you step by step.

91

:

Like breathe in, breathe out, because

we're gonna try to create as much silence

92

:

The benefits from this kind of meditation

are that you can access the state of

93

:

mind quickly, or you can take it slow.

94

:

Whatever amount of time you have to walk.

95

:

There's two main thoughts

that this comes from.

96

:

First, a scripture found in the

Book of Mormon Messiah, chapter 26,

97

:

verse 39, to pray without ceasing,

to give thanks in all things.

98

:

When most people hear this, they

wonder, is that really possible

99

:

to pray without ceasing, to pray?

100

:

Always.

101

:

Now I have a very busy mind.

102

:

How about you?

103

:

Nonstop chatter I can understand,

but a sincere, heartfelt prayer

104

:

that will take some practice.

105

:

It will take us also thinking

about this more as counseling

106

:

with the Lord in all our doings.

107

:

Have you ever tried a prayer of

only giving thanks in all things?

108

:

Now that is powerful.

109

:

If you haven't experienced something like

this, I'm so excited for you to taste it.

110

:

It's so delicious.

111

:

Did you know meditations can be delicious?

112

:

This is a spiritual gift we are

going to ask for, to be able

113

:

to give thanks in all things.

114

:

The second thought comes from a man.

115

:

Soren Kirchen Guard, a Danish

theologian and philosopher whose work

116

:

I encountered in my yoga training.

117

:

He wrote, A man prayed.

118

:

At first he thought prayer was talking,

but as he became more and more quiet, he

119

:

realized that most of prayer is listening.

120

:

Isn't that beautifully deep, that

stillness and listening for the spirit.

121

:

Now, this will take practice

as well, and that's exactly

122

:

what this meditative prayer is.

123

:

Practice, so don't get so caught up in,

if you're doing it right or wrong, I'm not

124

:

going to tell you how to do this, but may

I suggest you pause here until you get to

125

:

your sacred space, your temple outside.

126

:

If you can then pick back up here with me

and I'll give you the four steps, PRAY,

127

:

and explain how to walk through this.

128

:

And just so I can end this with

gently fading into the background,

129

:

GIA and I want to thank you for

choosing to walk with us today.

130

:

We know you have many choices in how

to spend your time and attention.

131

:

Your support keeps us going in Gia Kanda.

132

:

Remember, that's is Zulu for I love you.

133

:

Let's begin with number one.

134

:

P.

135

:

P is for prepare for prayer.

136

:

This is done with breath.

137

:

We do this so that we can become

present in our bodies in the moment.

138

:

Breathing in through the nose, hushing

the mind, bringing your focus into breath.

139

:

I, I begin by speaking

out loud how I pray.

140

:

My father in heaven, I come

before thee in this sacred place.

141

:

In the name of Jesus Christ.

142

:

And then I began telling

him the things of my heart.

143

:

As I focus on breathing

in and breathing out,

144

:

opening my heart and just

talking to my father.

145

:

Whatever comes into your mind,

maybe you just walk and consider

146

:

your breath and envision walking

side by side with the Lord.

147

:

This is a time to set yourself apart from

the noise and the chaos of the world.

148

:

Much like Moses on top of Mount

Sinai before the burning bush,

149

:

taking off his shoes because

the ground he stood on was holy.

150

:

Focus on breath.

151

:

You're doing beautifully.

152

:

Step two.

153

:

R is for rest.

154

:

To rest in what is meaning.

155

:

Notice where you are sensing this moment

in your body without judgment or story.

156

:

See if you're holding

onto tension or tightness.

157

:

What is the quality of your breath?

158

:

Your movement?

159

:

Where are you sensing breath in your body?

160

:

We spend too much of our days.

161

:

Up in our head or numbing out of

what our body is saying to us.

162

:

Listen and feel.

163

:

Another word for rest is to allow what is.

164

:

Let breath take you into rest.

165

:

Let breath ground you in this moment,

in this holy temple of your body.

166

:

This to a sacred space.

167

:

You are the temple of the Lord.

168

:

Step three A is for all things.

169

:

Ask for your eyes to be open,

to see the beauty in all things,

170

:

and to be able to give thanks.

171

:

In all things begin with what's

around you, through your senses.

172

:

What do you see?

173

:

Hear, smell, touch, taste, possibly Speak

it out loud if you feel comfortable.

174

:

I,

175

:

and use the word I thank thee.

176

:

I thank thee for the smallest details.

177

:

A blade of grass, a flower.

178

:

I thank thee for the

grand views as you walk.

179

:

What is the earth like beneath your feet?

180

:

What is the sky like above?

181

:

I thank thee.

182

:

Give thanks for it all.

183

:

Now.

184

:

Begin to give thanks for the unseen, give

thanks for the circumstances you're in.

185

:

The people,

186

:

friends, as well as those

maybe that are not so friendly.

187

:

Give thanks for the lessons, the

experiences, and how your heart

188

:

has been prepared for this moment.

189

:

The wisdom, the grace.

190

:

Try even giving thanks for

the things that feel heavy.

191

:

Fearful, broken and ugly.

192

:

Speak these things out loud.

193

:

Give thanks for your body, breath, life.

194

:

Give thanks to the Lord for his

love for you, his atonement for you.

195

:

Give thanks for

forgiveness, grace, and joy.

196

:

You are doing beautiful.

197

:

Just keep walking and praying.

198

:

Step four.

199

:

Why is for you?

200

:

What is the spirit whispering to you?

201

:

This is your time to listen and for

you to receive enlightenment insight.

202

:

Inspiration that the Holy

Ghost is bringing to your

203

:

heart here in this moment.

204

:

It's a safe place to open and soften your

heart to take it in to your very soul.

205

:

What does the Savior want you to

know here in this prayer journey?

206

:

You can ask him,

207

:

what does your heart tell you?

208

:

Listen with your heart.

209

:

As you pray for his love,

210

:

he will be there.

211

:

You can ask for forgiveness.

212

:

You can ask for his grace

to help you overcome

213

:

and listen.

214

:

To the still small voice whisper,

215

:

you are loved.

216

:

You

217

:

are of infinite worth.

218

:

This is where I will leave you

219

:

and when you get to the

end of this meditation.

220

:

Just simply close as you would a

prayer in the name of Jesus Christ,

221

:

and I will see you on the trail
