ADHD isn't a fad or a "cool label." It can be crippling, disabling, and can affect employment, relationships, and self-esteem. Coaching really can help people to grab a rope through the fog and find a way through.
Our conversation with Andy Robinson, a queer late-diagnosed ADHDer delved into the complexities of growing up feeling different, the importance of mindfulness for those with attention deficit disorders, and the transformative power of self-understanding.
We touched on the challenges Andy faced growing up in a strict evangelical Christian environment, where he felt compelled to mask both his neurodivergence and his sexuality. He shares a poignant story about being outed by his mother, which led to a traumatic ultimatum from his family. This experience ultimately propelled him into a journey of self-discovery and acceptance, where he found community and belonging in the LGBTQ+ space.
