Speaker A:

Living my life like it's golden I'm a busted wide open I'm taking my freedom Putting it on the shelf hey.

Speaker A:

Hey, friend.

Speaker A:

Welcome back to Receipts and Reflections after the Hustle.

Speaker A:

Okay, now, before we even start, I want you to slow down with me for just a quick little second.

Speaker A:

I want you to take a breath.

Speaker A:

For real.

Speaker A:

Take a breath.

Speaker A:

Not because something's wrong, but because sometimes we don't pause long enough to realize what's actually right.

Speaker A:

Take my phantom.

Speaker A:

Hey, now, let me ask you something.

Speaker A:

When was the last time you really sat with your life and thought, you know what?

Speaker A:

I actually like it here?

Speaker A:

I love this.

Speaker A:

For me, not perfect.

Speaker A:

You don't have everything figured out, but just genuinely peaceful in a good space.

Speaker A:

When's the last time?

Speaker A:

Before we go further, let me just really quickly check in with you.

Speaker A:

How are you feeling today, sis?

Speaker A:

How are you?

Speaker A:

Are you present?

Speaker A:

You feeling grateful?

Speaker A:

Are you in a good space?

Speaker A:

Or are you distracted?

Speaker A:

Are you overwhelmed?

Speaker A:

Do you feel like things are moving too fast for you to even notice?

Speaker A:

Whatever that feeling is, I just want you to notice it.

Speaker A:

Just notice it.

Speaker A:

Because today we're going to talk about joy.

Speaker A:

Joy.

Speaker A:

And not the loud kind, the quiet kind, the kindness.

Speaker A:

Just gonna sneak up on you now.

Speaker A:

Let me ask you something.

Speaker A:

Have you ever had a moment where nothing special was happening?

Speaker A:

Nothing.

Speaker A:

No fireworks, but you just felt good.

Speaker A:

Not excited, not overstimulated, just at peace like that.

Speaker A:

Just unspeakable joy.

Speaker A:

And you really almost didn't trust it.

Speaker A:

You're like, something right.

Speaker A:

Something right here.

Speaker A:

Because you know why?

Speaker A:

You're so used to things being busy or stressful or overwhelming.

Speaker A:

So when things feel calm, you're like, wait, now, wait a minute.

Speaker A:

Hold on now.

Speaker A:

Wait.

Speaker A:

Is something about to happen?

Speaker A:

Let's go ahead and talk about this.

Speaker A:

We're going to unpack that now.

Speaker A:

I had a moment recently where I was just in my space.

Speaker A:

Nothing fancy.

Speaker A:

I was just being.

Speaker A:

And I caught myself thinking, you know, I actually like my life.

Speaker A:

And it wasn't about the money, the achievements, the big milestones.

Speaker A:

It was just simply about my peace, my space, my mindset.

Speaker A:

And that hit me because there was a time where I was just trying to survive.

Speaker A:

I was fighting for my life, y'.

Speaker A:

All.

Speaker A:

And I was just trying to get through things.

Speaker A:

And now I'm actually living.

Speaker A:

Let's say this honestly.

Speaker A:

Some of us have prayed for the life that we are currently living.

Speaker A:

And we're so used to striving that we forget to just sit in it, just chill in it.

Speaker A:

And there Was a time where everything felt like, what's next?

Speaker A:

Now what I gotta fix what still isn't right.

Speaker A:

And now I'm sitting in moments like, this is enough.

Speaker A:

I like it here.

Speaker A:

And that shift, that didn't come from everything being perfect, okay?

Speaker A:

Hear me?

Speaker A:

It did not come from everything being perfect.

Speaker A:

It just came from me being actually present.

Speaker A:

From literally stopping and smelling the roses.

Speaker A:

I got some beautiful roses on my table, you know, Treat yourself to flowers.

Speaker A:

Do not wait for people to give you your flower, sis.

Speaker A:

Go and get you some flowers.

Speaker A:

It's amazing what that will do for you.

Speaker A:

I. I'm just.

Speaker A:

Hear me, hear me.

Speaker A:

I'm telling you.

Speaker A:

We'd be convincing ourselves we don't like flowers because we don't grew accustomed to not receiving them.

Speaker A:

Give yourself your flower, sis.

Speaker A:

I'm just telling you.

Speaker A:

Just gonna just My advice.

Speaker A:

I ain't gonna tell you nothing wrong now.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

So let's be real.

Speaker A:

Joy does not always look deep.

Speaker A:

It doesn't.

Speaker A:

Sometimes joy looks like just being in your house and not wanting to leave.

Speaker A:

Like me right now, y'.

Speaker A:

All.

Speaker A:

I'm sitting here looking cheap bonnet on mumu, no draws, okay?

Speaker A:

Love my life.

Speaker A:

I love it right here, okay?

Speaker A:

And I have no intention of leaving at all today.

Speaker A:

My car has not moved.

Speaker A:

And I love it, okay?

Speaker A:

Sometimes it's canceling plans and just feeling amazing about it.

Speaker A:

Like no guilt, no nothing.

Speaker A:

Cooking something simple and just being proud of it for yourself.

Speaker A:

Or just sitting in silence and not feeling lonely.

Speaker A:

That, my friend.

Speaker A:

That's joy.

Speaker A:

That's joy.

Speaker A:

Now let's talk about what changed.

Speaker A:

I stopped waiting for the big moments.

Speaker A:

I stopped waiting for these big, huge moments in order for me to feel good about my life.

Speaker A:

I stopped thinking, you know what?

Speaker A:

I'm gonna be happy when.

Speaker A:

And I started noticing I'm actually okay right now.

Speaker A:

I'm safe.

Speaker A:

I'm okay now.

Speaker A:

This is gonna show up in everything.

Speaker A:

In your home, in your routine, in your relationships.

Speaker A:

You start choosing peace over chaos, calm over confusion, presence over pressure.

Speaker A:

And suddenly your life just looks different.

Speaker A:

It does.

Speaker A:

Let me say this clearly.

Speaker A:

Joy is not going to be something that you chase.

Speaker A:

It's just something that you notice.

Speaker A:

It is a state of being.

Speaker A:

It's just in you.

Speaker A:

So this week, I.

Speaker A:

We going to try something, okay?

Speaker A:

I want you to try to do something for me, okay?

Speaker A:

In your random moments, I want you just to pause and ask yourself, am I okay right now?

Speaker A:

And if the answer is yes, sit in it.

Speaker A:

Sit in it.

Speaker A:

Don't rush past it.

Speaker A:

Don't rush it.

Speaker A:

Just enjoy it.

Speaker A:

Bask in that.

Speaker A:

You know, at this age, we need to learn how to bask.

Speaker A:

Just bask in it.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

Now, before we go, we're gonna bring it on in.

Speaker A:

Bring it on in, sis.

Speaker A:

Come on, draw.

Speaker A:

Draw near.

Speaker A:

Come closer.

Speaker A:

Come closer.

Speaker A:

You don't have to wait for everything to be perfect in order for you to enjoy your life.

Speaker A:

There is joy in what you've already built, even if it's still in progress.

Speaker A:

You are completely entitled to be a masterpiece while you are still mastering your piece.

Speaker A:

Okay?

Speaker A:

So just be gentle with yourself this week.

Speaker A:

Stay aware, keep your head on a swivel, and stay connected to yourself.

Speaker A:

You know what I'm about to do.

Speaker A:

Until we meet again.

Speaker A:

I love y'.

Speaker A:

All.

Speaker A:

I love you guys.

Speaker A:

For real?

Speaker A:

For real.

Speaker A:

And I will meet you right back here next Monday.
