Mentioned in this episode:
School, work and success were not designed for you. They were designed for predictability. So most people think the system failed them, and it actually didn't. It did exactly what it was supposed to do. Modern education and work systems are intentionally built to create an efficient, predictable and scalable workforce. It was never designed for financial prosperity or fulfillment. So school in many ways effectively trains obedience to external authority before it ever trains self trust. You're rewarded for staying in the structure, and work is the same thing. Work rewards reliability rather than originality or creativity. Success is defined really narrowly, so it can be measured, it can be ranked, it can be controlled. And within that system, you're just looking to advance in the ranks. But the ranks are controlled. And if you get out of line, then you risk being removed.

You're not failing at life. You're losing a game that you never agreed to play. See, most people think society is just how things are. School, work, money, success, relationships. But here's a truth no one ever explains. Society is a game with rules. And the rules are designed for compliance, not fulfillment. And that's why the hardest working people often stay broke. It's why the most talented people often stay invisible. And that's why the ones who seem to be the least talented and seem to care the least often rise the fastest. And it's not just luck. It's not just privilege. It's about understanding the rules that run the game. For most of my life, I didn't understand this. Not many years ago, despite all my hard work, I had two homes in foreclosure. I was struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. I felt completely trapped inside the system. And today, I built a $40 million business, host a podcast with over 2 million listeners a month, and have helped tens of thousands of people break out of the same invisible game. And in this episode, I'm going to teach you how the principles that allowed me to outsmart society's game without fighting the system, burning you out, or having to sacrifice who you are. Because once you see how this game actually works, you'll never look at success, effort, or money the same way again. Let's get into it. Principle number one. Society isn't truth. It's an agreement you were born into. Society isn't something you choose, it's something you woke up inside of. And this is what's challenging for so many people. We've been inside this box called society since the day we were born. It's like a fish in water. All of its life probably doesn't know that it's in water. And most people assume society is reality. But it's not. It's just a shared agreement that's been repeated long enough to feel really solid. I want you to think about this. Money only works because we agree it does. I mean, the paper itself is worthless, if you even use paper anymore. Otherwise it's just zeros and ones in a bank account where the money isn't even actually there because the bank has loaned out your money to other people. But everybody agrees money has value. And so you can walk into a dealership and trade your fundamentally worthless zeros and ones for a brand new BMW and think about status for a minute. We put people on pedestals. Athletes, musicians, rich people, successful people. Why? Because that's what we do. That's what we've always done. And you look around and everyone else is doing it too. But why would you pedestal someone because they run fast or because they put a ball in a hoop, as opposed to elevating someone because they're just a good person? Well, because that's what we've always done. It's really distorted. It is a distorted model. When you think about it, none of this actually exists in nature. I love looking at nature and using it to get a fundamental understanding of how our reality should work. Animals, trees, rivers, mountains, they don't apply for approval. Nothing in nature waits to be validated. But because of the rules that we were born into, we live in a prison of permission and are afraid to step outside of the lines and do something different. And this is where people get trapped. Because they mistake repetition for reality. They mistake agreement for truth. Because once something is reinforced long enough, it just stops being questioned. And questioning it starts to feel dangerous. Even when questioning, it is really logical. Because emotionally, it feels terrifying to step outside the system. So much so that people will Actually defend systems that drain them. You're going to start a business that's pretty risky. You shouldn't do that. Just keep your job, says person, miserable with their job. Right. You shouldn't live with such excesses. You know, there are other people out there going without, says broke person. So here's the thing. You don't actually feel trapped because the rules are powerful. You feel trapped because they're invisible. So the moment you see that society is an agreement, not a mandatory set of rules, you can step out of the matrix and start creating rules within it. I mean, think about this. What an advantage it is when you stop buying into all the structures and rules that everybody else is buying into. And you create psychological and emotional freedom knowing that you can follow your own path, your own gut, your own instinct. In fact, that's actually the secret of the top.01%. They stopped playing by the rules and they stepped outside the structure and started creating their own game that we all now live in. And so when you realize this, you stop assuming this is how life works and you start thinking outside the box. This was a huge shift for me. You know, I was 20 years old when I graduated from college. I got an internship working for a big television station. And I hated my job. All I was doing was like filing folders all day long. I saw everyone else really not enjoying their job, spending eight to 10 hours a day in cubicles. And so I decided to start my own business. And people said, hey, this is risky. And it's like, well, looking back on it, I was 20 years old. Like, what did I have to lose? Your 20s are when you're supposed to take quote unquote risks, but they aren't really risks when you understand what they are. You know, I started my own business. I learned a lot. I leveraged that to get an amazing opportunity to move to Italy. I started up the Internet business for an Italian motorcycle company called Ducati Motorcycles. I spent two years there. I had a performance based compensation. I was making like a quarter of a million dollars a year. And then because I kept thinking outside of the box, I came back to the US and I raised $4 million for another idea I had because I realized I didn't want and I didn't need to follow what everyone else was doing. So when you see that these are just agreements and then you don't have to agree, something very powerful comes back online, which is choice, and you get your freedom back. Not because you had to resist the system or the rules themselves, but because you saw them for what they were in that awareness and in that aw and opened up a new world of possibility. Principle number two, school. Work and success were not designed for you. They were designed for predictability. So most people think the system failed them, and it actually didn't. It did exactly what it was supposed to do. Modern education and work systems are intentionally built to create an efficient, predictable and scalable workforce. It was never designed for financial prosperity or fulfillment. So school, in many ways effectively trains obedience to external authority before it ever trains self trust. And so people are shaped to fit roles before they even understand who they are. And over time, identity literally collapses into job titles, income levels, and a bunch of other useless labels. And so without realizing it, people stop asking, what do I actually want? And you'll notice that the more intuitive, creative or independent someone is, the more friction they feel in the workplace, the more out of place they are. And usually these people either step back in line and end up feeling really suppressed and oppressed by it, or they end up doing what I did, leaving the system entirely and bettering themselves for it. But the shift happens when you separate who you are from what you do. Because the moment your identity isn't sourced from a role, you no longer fear losing it, and you start to align yourself with and attract opportunities that are in alignment with what you're passionate about and who you truly are. This is identity first transformation. And the cool thing is, as results follow who you're being, not the other way around. And in that, your work or your job stops being a cage that you crawl into for 40 hours a week, and it starts being an expression of who you are. And from that, the money and most importantly, the joy has to follow. Principle number three. Hustle culture isn't about success, it's about control. So effort is glorified for a reason. Not because it works, but because it keeps people busy and because it keeps a few people who can hustle hard enough at the top. So you just look around. Today we've got a Navy seal, hyper masculine male hustle culture, both in work and on YouTube and on social media. It's this idea that if you're not working hard, every second of the day someone somewhere is, and when you meet them, they will win. It's pretty nuts. But we've been so indoctrinated into the fact that you have to work really hard and burn yourself out to be successful that we've created another set of rules that says if you don't do that, whatever you're doing isn't meaningful. I mean, think about how crazy that is. And so effort and hustle and grinding becomes an identity. I'm a hard worker instead of I'm someone who enjoys my life or I'm someone who knows who I am. I say yes and no to the rules to stay in integrity with who I am and what I believe. The system benefits when people try harder instead of living authentically. And a lot of these rules around working hard or sacrificing yourself or doing it all is really about something that people never look at, which is your emotional state. See, humans don't make decisions. They make decisions from emotional states. And different states produce completely different realities. So what I would describe as primal states are survival based states. And they create urgency, scarcity, comparison, fear, shame, and powerful states are abundant. They're abundance based. They create clarity, they create presence, trust, wealth, decisiveness, and hustle. Culture keeps people locked into primal states by constantly activating the nervous system. Pressure around money, pressure around time, pressure around performance and status. It keeps us in survival mode. And a nervous system in survival mode does not create, it complies. So from that state, effort feels necessary because safety feels uncertain. And this is why over effort is rewarded, because it plays off of a fear that we are all falling behind. But the moment you believe you're behind or running out of time, or you need to catch up, you've entered the game. And outsmarting society doesn't start with more effort. It starts with a shift in perspective, a shift in values, and a shift in your emotional state. And when alignment starts to replace force, you step into a different reality. Timelines collapse. There's less intensity, there's more momentum, and always better results. Principle number four. The real trap isn't rules, it's permission. So the deepest conditioning isn't actually obedience. It's conditioning someone to wait. So it's conditioning someone to have to ask for permission to rest or permission to pivot, or permission to want more, permission to watch something unconventional. Most people aren't stopped by force. They're stopped by imagined consequences if they don't get permission. And that comes out of fear of judgment. It shapes the decisions more than logic ever could. And so hesitation Gets framed as being responsible. But most of the time, it's just a fear of standing alone. I met a woman years ago who wanted to leave her job. She was working in the hospital to do what she was really passionate about. It was her artwork. She wanted to open up a retail store, but she was super afraid to do it. And she told me she has a teenage son and it would be, quote, irresponsible of her to do that. And so I asked her, I said, hey, what's more important in terms of what you model for your son, how much money you make and financial security, or following your dreams and pursuing your passion? So she paused for a moment. She said, 100%. Modeling independence and pursuing her dreams was the most important thing to model for her son. And so I asked her again, what is responsible then? Staying with your job or following your passion? See, most people get it completely backwards. And here's the thing. The system doesn't need to stop you. It just needs you to doubt yourself. The people who make the moves, they aren't smarter or faster. They're just not divided internally. The moment someone stops waiting for permission, momentum shifts. Immediately you start noticing how often hesitation has nothing to do with readiness and everything to do with getting approval or permission. And what every person who has escaped the matrix will tell you is that all you need to do is decide. A decision is not reckless. A decision is a command. And when you decide, your reality begins to reorganize. That's why in scripture it says, thou shalt decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee, and the light shall shine upon thy way. That's why in the very beginning of the Bible, there's the first command. God said, let there be light. And there was. When you decide, life responds differently. When you start deciding and stop asking to be allowed, your entire reality can change. Principle number five. You don't win the game by escaping it. You win by no longer being ruled by it. Now, outsmarting society doesn't mean rejecting it, and it definitely doesn't mean fighting it. Fighting the system keeps it central in your mind. It keeps your energy entangled with it. What you pay attention to just gets more prominent in your reality. And that's why so many people who realize they're trapped in the system stay stuck because they spend the rest of their lives trying to fight it. But real leverage comes from seeing the rules. Without emotional attachment, you can participate in systems without letting them define you. You can still play the game, but according to your rules. And because everyone else is playing According to the system, you literally start to look supernatural inside of it. Remember Neo in the Matrix? Like whenever he logged back into society, he had capabilities beyond his wildest imagination. And that's what happens when you red pill yourself. When your identity is no longer locked into the old rules of the game and society loses its grip. When it stops being your reference point, you stop reacting and you start engaging strategically. And this is what the powerful people in the world are doing right now. They're manipulating the system because they sit outside of it. And what's beautiful is that it's not just powerful people anymore who are opting out of society's rules. It's people like you and me. That's why I believe in the certainty of the goodness of the future. That's why this mindset work and identity work is so important. Because as your identity restabilizes internally and you let go of the fear of being different, the external world loses power over you. You don't need to escape the game. You just need to stop mistaking it for the only reality. So if there's one thing I want you to take from today's conversation, it's this. You're not broken, you're not behind, you're not stuck. You've just been playing a game that you didn't consciously choose. And the moment you see that a new possibility unlocks, your clarity comes back online. You stop trying to earn a place and you already belong here. And you stop trying to earn a place you already belong in. You don't have to fight society, you don't have to escape it. You just have to stop letting it define who you are. And when that happens, everything changes. Your decisions get cleaner, you. Your energy stops leaking. Your work starts reflecting truth instead of fear. And just watch how differently life responds when you start playing the game consciously.
