Shownotes

The fundamental premise of this discourse is the recognition that God is the ultimate Source of all resources, and we are merely stewards of His provisions. Throughout this episode, we delve into the profound implications of understanding our role as stewards, contrasting it with the detrimental mindset of ownership that breeds anxiety and fear. We explore the biblical narrative of Abraham, who exemplified the balance of wealth and worship, demonstrating that true prosperity is accompanied by peace rather than turmoil. As we navigate the concepts of altars and the perils of mammon, we are called to reflect on our financial practices and the spiritual significance of giving. Ultimately, this message culminates in an altar call, inviting listeners to confront their fears surrounding finances and to embrace a life of freedom through faith and generosity. The exploration of financial stewardship in the context of faith is a profound journey that begins with an essential inquiry: Who is your source? The podcast episode titled 'The Cattle on a Thousand Hills' delves into the biblical principle that God is the ultimate owner of all resources. Through the lens of Psalm 50:10, the discussion reveals that the cattle on a thousand hills belong to God and not merely to the transient conditions of the financial world. The speaker emphasizes that many believers exhibit a mindset of scarcity and orphanhood, failing to recognize that their true source is divine, not economic. By drawing parallels to Abraham, who was wealthy yet remained steadfastly devoted to God through acts of worship and the building of altars, the message insists on the necessity of maintaining a balance between wealth and reverence, thus preventing material possessions from becoming idols. The episode further intricately examines the distinction between ownership and stewardship. The speaker asserts that an ownership mentality breeds anxiety and pride, while a stewardship perspective fosters peace and trust in God's provision. Listeners are encouraged to reject the notion that money itself is evil, instead recognizing it as a magnifier of one's character and intentions. Through this lens, wealth is portrayed not as a threat but as a tool for God's purposes. The discussion culminates with a challenge to the audience to evaluate their relationship with money, urging them to cultivate a stewardship mentality that acknowledges God as the source and to practice generosity as an expression of faith. In a transformative altar-call moment, the speaker confronts the fear and anxiety many associate with financial matters. By inviting listeners to release their grip on money and to trust in God’s provision, the message becomes not just a call to financial responsibility but a profound invitation to spiritual freedom. The episode concludes with practical applications for believers, urging them to build 'altars' in their lives—practices of worship and gratitude that keep their hearts aligned with God’s purposes, ultimately leading to a life of abundance that transcends mere material wealth.

Transcripts

Speaker A:

Brothers and sisters, let's tell the truth.

Speaker A:

Some of you don't have a money problem.

Speaker A:

You have a source problem.

Speaker A:

Because the moment your salary shakes, your piece collapses.

Speaker A:

The moment a deal delays, your joy disappears.

Speaker A:

The moment the economy coughs, your faith gets a pneumonia.

Speaker A:

That's not just stress, that's not just a doubting.

Speaker A:

That is spiritual indication.

Speaker A:

Because when you truly know your source, you may feel pressure, but you don't fall apart.

Speaker A:

Today we're in message two of the series.

Speaker A:

Abraham, father of faith and fortune.

Speaker A:

And this message is called the Cattle on a thousand hills.

Speaker A:

In other words, God is not broke.

Speaker A:

Heaven is not hiring investors.

Speaker A:

Angels are not having budget meetings.

Speaker A:

There is no fundraiser in the throne room.

Speaker A:

Nobody is selling plates of kota in heaven to raise money.

Speaker A:

So if God owns it all, why do so many believers live like orphans?

Speaker A:

Psalm:

Speaker A:

For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills.

Speaker A:

Not some cattle, not most cattle, not cattle.

Speaker A:

When inflation is low, the cattle are his.

Speaker A:

Now let's tie this to Abraham.

Speaker A:

Genesis 13:2 says Abraham, Abraham had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold.

Speaker A:

Very wealthy.

Speaker A:

But here's what makes Abraham dangerous in a good way.

Speaker A:

He had wealth, but wealth didn't have him.

Speaker A:

Because the same chapter tells you, Abraham kept building altars and calling on the name of the Lord.

Speaker A:

So he had resources and reverence.

Speaker A:

He had cattle and covenant.

Speaker A:

He had silver and submission.

Speaker A:

That's the balance we're preaching.

Speaker A:

Not poverty, pride, not prosperity.

Speaker A:

Pride.

Speaker A:

Prosperity with purity, resources with righteousness.

Speaker A:

God is the owner and you are the steward.

Speaker A:

Brothers and sisters, if you don't understand this point, money will always stress you.

Speaker A:

Psalm 24:1 says, the earth is the Lord's and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein in that means God owns the land, he owns the gold, he owns the oil.

Speaker A:

God owns the ideas.

Speaker A:

God owns the networks.

Speaker A:

God owns the opportunities.

Speaker A:

And you are a steward.

Speaker A:

Let me make it plain.

Speaker A:

Ownership mentality produces pride.

Speaker A:

Stewardship mentality produces peace.

Speaker A:

When you think you own it, you panic when it shakes.

Speaker A:

But when you know you're stewarding what God owns, you can say, lord, you gave it, you can sustain it, you can increase it, you can redirect it.

Speaker A:

And I'm going to challenge a sacred cow.

Speaker A:

Pun intended.

Speaker A:

Some believers say, I don't want money.

Speaker A:

Money is evil.

Speaker A:

No, no.

Speaker A:

The Bible does not say money is evil.

Speaker A:

It says, the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.

Speaker A:

Money is not evil.

Speaker A:

Money is a magnified.

Speaker A:

It magnifies what's already inside you?

Speaker A:

If pride is inside you, money will amplify pride.

Speaker A:

If generosity is inside you, money will amplify generosity.

Speaker A:

If lust is inside you, money will amplify lust.

Speaker A:

If wisdom is inside you, money will amplify wisdom.

Speaker A:

So don't pray, Lord, keep me humble by keeping me broke.

Speaker A:

Pray, Lord, make me holy so I can carry wealth without corruption.

Speaker A:

Say this, lord, I can be trusted.

Speaker A:

Say it again.

Speaker A:

Lord, I can be trusted.

Speaker A:

Because God can bless you, but you must be trustworthy.

Speaker A:

Deuteronomy 8:18.

Speaker A:

And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the power to get wealth.

Speaker A:

Power to get wealth, meaning skill, ability, skill, strategy, favor, endurance.

Speaker A:

So biblical prosperity is not fantasy.

Speaker A:

It is capacity and covenant.2.

Speaker A:

Prosperity without peace is poverty in disguise.

Speaker A:

Now hear me, brothers and sisters.

Speaker A:

Some people have money, but they are broke on the inside.

Speaker A:

They can buy anything except sleep.

Speaker A:

They have cars.

Speaker A:

No calm.

Speaker A:

They have clothes, but no contentment.

Speaker A:

They have followers, but no joy.

Speaker A:

Poor.

Speaker A:

That's not prosperity.

Speaker A:

That's expensive misery.

Speaker A:

Proverbs:

Speaker A:

No sorrow, meaning the blessing comes with peace, not torment.

Speaker A:

Now, I'm not saying you will never have challenges.

Speaker A:

You will.

Speaker A:

But I'm saying this.

Speaker A:

When God is your source, your heart is not chained to your circumstances.

Speaker A:

And some of you need deliverance right here.

Speaker A:

Because you have been living under financial anxiety so long, you think it's normal, but it's not normal.

Speaker A:

It's bondage.

Speaker A:

And bondage is not your portion.

Speaker A:

Jesus said in Matthew 6:24, no one can serve two masters.

Speaker A:

You cannot serve God.

Speaker A:

And Mammon.

Speaker A:

Mammon is not just money.

Speaker A:

Mammon is a spirit that promises security.

Speaker A:

Mammon says, if you have me, you're safe.

Speaker A:

God says, if you have me, you're safe.

Speaker A:

Mammon demands worship through fear.

Speaker A:

God receives worship through faith.

Speaker A:

So the question today is not, do you have money?

Speaker A:

The question is, does money have you?.3 altars before assets.

Speaker A:

Now, let's go back to Abraham.

Speaker A:

Genesis 13:4 says, Abraham returned to the place of the altar and called on the name of the Lord.

Speaker A:

Abraham.

Speaker A:

Abraham didn't just manage his cattle, he managed his altar.

Speaker A:

Because he understood something many people miss.

Speaker A:

If you don't build altars, assets become idols.

Speaker A:

Altars represent worship, obedience, surrender, remembrance, gratitude, and consecration.

Speaker A:

When you keep an altar, keep an altar life.

Speaker A:

When you keep an altar life.

Speaker A:

Wealth doesn't become your identity.

Speaker A:

When you keep an alter life, you keep.

Speaker A:

You hold money with an Open hand.

Speaker A:

When you don't have an altar life, money becomes your God.

Speaker A:

And your God will control your moods, your decisions, your marriage and your integrity.

Speaker A:

And this is why giving is so spiritual.

Speaker A:

Giving is not just church stuff.

Speaker A:

Giving is warfare against Mammon.

Speaker A:

Because Mammon says, hold it tight.

Speaker A:

God says, release it in faith.

Speaker A:

Jesus said in Matthew 6:21, for where your treasure is, there your heart will also be.

Speaker A:

Be.

Speaker A:

So if your heart tightens every time giving is mentioned, that's not budgeting, that's bondage.

Speaker A:

And I'm not condemning you, I'm inviting you to freedom.

Speaker A:

Because God doesn't want your money.

Speaker A:

He wants your heart.

Speaker A:

And when he has your heart, your money becomes a tool, not a throne.

Speaker A:

Brothers and sisters, let's make it practical for believers.

Speaker A:

Identify your true source.

Speaker A:

Do you trust God or your income?

Speaker A:

Create a stewardship plan.

Speaker A:

Budget, save.

Speaker A:

Invest wisely and avoid foolish debt.

Speaker A:

And practice generosity.

Speaker A:

Start somewhere, but just start for your ministry, work and family.

Speaker A:

Teach your household that we don't worship money, we steward it.

Speaker A:

Pray over your work and ask God for skill, favour and strategy.

Speaker A:

Build altars in your home.

Speaker A:

Prayer, worship, scripture so wealth doesn't corrupt the faith family line.

Speaker A:

Now let us give warning.

Speaker A:

Some of you keep saying, God knows my heart.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

And that's why he's dealing with your wallet.

Speaker A:

Because your spending reveals your worship.

Speaker A:

You find entertainment quickly, you find convenience quickly.

Speaker A:

But when it comes to God's work, you become led.

Speaker A:

Brothers and sisters.

Speaker A:

That's not leading, that's excuse.

Speaker A:

If God is first, he's first in practice, not first in slogans.

Speaker A:

,:

Speaker A:

So if you're blessed, act like it.

Speaker A:

Because blessed people bless people.

Speaker A:

Right now I want you to ask yourself, where am I serving my mom with fear?

Speaker A:

Where am I clinging to money like a God?

Speaker A:

Where has financial anxiety become a daily confession?

Speaker A:

Now say this with me.

Speaker A:

God is my source.

Speaker A:

Source.

Speaker A:

I am a steward.

Speaker A:

Mammon will not rule me.

Speaker A:

I will build altars before assets.

Speaker A:

Here are some questions for reflection.

Speaker A:

1.

Speaker A:

When money is threatened, what happens to your Peace and why?

Speaker A:

2.

Speaker A:

Do you really believe God owns everything?

Speaker A:

How does your life show it?

Speaker A:

3.

Speaker A:

What altar practices, prayer, worship, generosity, discipline are missing in your financial life?

Speaker A:

If God increased you by 10x, would it amplify your character or expose your corruption?

Speaker A:

Let us pray.

Speaker A:

Father, in the name of Jesus, I repent for every place where I trusted money more than I trusted you.

Speaker A:

Deliver me from Mammon.

Speaker A:

Deliver me from fear.

Speaker A:

Deliver me from poverty.

Speaker A:

Poverty mindset and a panic mindset.

Speaker A:

Teach me stewardship.

Speaker A:

Teach me wisdom.

Speaker A:

Teach me discipline.

Speaker A:

Lord, I declare you are my source.

Speaker A:

My job is not my source.

Speaker A:

My business is not my source.

Speaker A:

My connections are not my source.

Speaker A:

You are my source.

Speaker A:

You give me the power to get wealth and give me purity to keep wealth from getting me.

Speaker A:

Make me generous, faithful, honest and wise.

Speaker A:

And as you bless me, make my life a channel so others are blessed through me.

Speaker A:

In Jesus name, amen.

Speaker A:

Brothers and sisters, in message three, we're going to deal with faith that produces fortune.

Speaker A:

Because you don't just need a miracle, you need a faith that can endure the process without producing an ishmael.
