Hey everybody.
2
:Welcome back to another edition
of the Daily Bible Podcast.
3
:Hello and good morning.
4
:We talked yesterday about
moving up and moving in.
5
:Another thing that you could do to really.
6
:Help us and bless us.
7
:And we talked about as your pastors
saying, Hey, this is what we think
8
:you should do and we feel like this
is the right thing for you to do.
9
:And that is join a community group.
10
:We'd love for you to get
plugged in with us for sure.
11
:This is the time of year that a
lot of people are thinking about
12
:getting back involved in things.
13
:I know my kids' sports have taken
off, again, new soccer teams, new
14
:basketball team, things like that.
15
:A lot of people are thinking, okay, it's
time to, to get started with something.
16
:This is a great time to jump
in with community groups.
17
:We are gonna be switching over to our
Church Center app with that, I don't
18
:know if it's out just yet, but soon
where you'll be able to go to our church
19
:center app, which you can download on
the app store or the Google Play Store
20
:or whatever you happen to have access to.
21
:It'll ask you for your phone number.
22
:You can find our church on there,
and that's basically all you need.
23
:And then once you log in there,
you can look up groups that
24
:are a group, not a church.
25
:You found a church you attend our
church, you can find a group on there.
26
:But I think when you register for
the app you search for your church.
27
:Okay.
28
:Yeah.
29
:You're searching for your church.
30
:You're not searching for a new church?
31
:No.
32
:You just to, I don't want you
searching for a new church.
33
:No.
34
:You're searching for us now what
this advertisement is about.
35
:Yeah.
36
:Thank you.
37
:Thank you.
38
:I appreciate that.
39
:Yeah.
40
:What I'm trying to get rid of you.
41
:Find us, and then you'll be
able to find a group on there.
42
:And this is so important and it's
more than just, Hey, we wanna bump up
43
:our numbers in our community groups.
44
:We want you there because this is
where we feel like discipleship
45
:takes place, where life change takes
place, where the sermon is applied,
46
:where you're praying for people.
47
:And it's just a another step of ownership.
48
:And where we're at in the church,
in fact, we were talking about the
49
:fact that man our church is growing.
50
:We talked about that
yesterday on the podcast.
51
:It really is.
52
:And we have plans and desires and
ambitions to, to set the church
53
:up, to be able to grow even more.
54
:And yet there's some key areas that
we need to identify some more leaders
55
:in and we need to identify some key
people that we can trust and say, Hey,
56
:we need you to fill, fulfill this role.
57
:Right now, a lot of our community group
members are already filling vital roles.
58
:We've got a great saturation in people
that are in community and serving.
59
:Those are roles though, that we're
not just gonna grab somebody outta
60
:the seats that we haven't gotten a
chance to know yet and say, Hey, we
61
:want you to come and be in this role.
62
:You could be the most gifted person
in the world in that role, and
63
:yet we want to get to know you.
64
:And community is such an
important part of that.
65
:If you're not in community groups,
consider this our call to you, to
66
:make that call and make that move.
67
:Get involved, get plugged in.
68
:Commit to a community group, commit to
another group of brothers and sisters
69
:in Christ and join something like that
so that we can continue to see God
70
:provide leaders and volunteers for us.
71
:That's right.
72
:Thanks, man, that, that sounded a
lot smoother on the podcast because
73
:you removed the the gap there.
74
:I can take my time now.
75
:You can just wait, can just all the
time I need and then cut out the
76
:silence and everyone is none the wiser.
77
:No, thanks for pointing it out.
78
:None the wiser.
79
:I'm here to do that.
80
:Yeah, and there's no more sound
effects because you can't clean up
81
:the podcast on that, so Not easily.
82
:Not easily.
83
:Yeah.
84
:I still can do it and I still may.
85
:May if I had a day where I just wanna
spend the time to, but not this one.
86
:Not today.
87
:Yeah.
88
:Alright speaking of time, we've
got quite a bit in front of
89
:us in Ezekiel 37, 38, and 39.
90
:37 is the dry bones chapter.
91
:Them bones, them dry bones.
92
:That old song that's Ezekiel 37
and what the dry bones represent
93
:here is the Nation of Israel.
94
:And God's saying that he's gonna breathe
new life into the nation of Israel.
95
:And the bones are going
to metaphorically that is.
96
:Be brought to life.
97
:They're gonna receive sinews and flesh
and muscular systems and all those things.
98
:And then the breath of life
is going to be commanded.
99
:And the breath of life is gonna
be given to these bones and
100
:they're going to live again.
101
:And so this is a picture of what God is
going to do for the nation of Israel.
102
:In the future as he restores them
in their land, like we talked about
103
:yesterday, the Abrahamic covenant,
when he brings them back into their
104
:land, the millennial kingdom they're
gonna once again be his people.
105
:And there's gonna be that spiritual
vitality that is there with them during
106
:this season in in the millennial kingdom.
107
:So this isn't about
resurrection per se, right?
108
:But it seems like it, it leaves the door
open at least for there to be a general.
109
:Not general revelation, general
resurrection, not the point.
110
:Sure.
111
:Not the point.
112
:I don't think that's what Ezekiel's
trying to communicate, but I think it
113
:at least hints in the faintest way,
much those sodas, they're not sodas
114
:actually, they're, what are they called?
115
:Sodas?
116
:I don't, no.
117
:What are you talking about?
118
:They got like a hint of something in them.
119
:Beer.
120
:They're water.
121
:No beer does not have a hint of anything.
122
:That's a lot of stuff in there.
123
:No.
124
:It's one of those fizzy drinks
that has Oh, like LaCroix?
125
:Yes.
126
:Okay.
127
:Okay.
128
:This is like a LaCroix.
129
:It's got the faintest sense of rev.
130
:No, I keep saying revelation of
resurrection, but it's not really there.
131
:I'm almost positive that no one
has ever said, Ezekiel 37 reminds
132
:me of LaCroix until right now.
133
:So congratulations.
134
:It's creativity.
135
:There you go.
136
:On the fly.
137
:It is.
138
:When I was in high school,
my favorite class included.
139
:Improv games.
140
:One of my favorite things to do of all
time, in fact, I still want to take us
141
:to, there's an improv place in McKinney.
142
:Is there where we can do a class
together as a staff, we would love it.
143
:It would be so much fun, and Erin
has promised to help get us a group
144
:rate and maybe the discount because
we're a church and she knows us.
145
:I was just thinking,
Aaron, I'm looking at you.
146
:Help us out.
147
:Still wanna do it.
148
:We'll see about that one.
149
:We'll see about that one.
150
:Real quick here.
151
:Yeah.
152
:The rattling of the dry bones.
153
:Yeah.
154
:I've heard people preach on this text
and to use it in a lot of different ways.
155
:Okay.
156
:Is it fair?
157
:To take the principle of God brings
the dead to life, or God adds things
158
:according to the word of the prophet.
159
:How can we take this text and not abuse
it, but still take a principle out of it?
160
:So you and I are trying
to do some of that.
161
:Is it fair to use it to say if I wanna
do a song called Rattle and I want
162
:to talk about God doing something
like that in my life is that fair?
163
:I like God renews.
164
:He brings new life when
I'm totally He does.
165
:Yeah.
166
:When I'm feeling dry and my soul
is dead or feeling like death,
167
:he brings me back to life.
168
:Bring me back to life.
169
:Yeah.
170
:I can't wake up.
171
:Yeah, save me Evanescence.
172
:I, I wouldn't here, I think
it's another gener, Jeremiah
173
:28 or 29 11 type situation.
174
:It's like you can grab that
principle about God from
175
:somewhere else in the Bible.
176
:There are other passages that teach that
clearly that you can say, okay, I can.
177
:That may be true.
178
:That is true.
179
:God does breathe life into things
and, do a new thing and everything.
180
:But I don't know that we look at this
passage which is clearly saying, Hey,
181
:Israel's dead, but I'm gonna give a
future life to Israel and say, oh.
182
:And so what that means for you is
God wants to give new life to your.
183
:Business.
184
:God wants to give a new
life to your marriage.
185
:God wants to give new life
to your can you argue that?
186
:Maybe he does and there's other passages
that you could turn to for that.
187
:I just wouldn't go to this one for that.
188
:What about something like speaking
life to your dead situation?
189
:Speak life.
190
:Speak life.
191
:There's a song all about that, right?
192
:Yeah.
193
:Toby Mack, we're looking at you.
194
:I like the song, by the way.
195
:Yeah.
196
:Is speaking life to my dead situation.
197
:An another application that I could fairly
use in my marriage, my parenting, yeah.
198
:My new venture that I'm pursuing.
199
:College.
200
:Whatever.
201
:I would say again, no I don't think
that's what God wants us to do here.
202
:I don't, God is.
203
:Imparting life into these bones.
204
:And yes, he's doing so through
the prophet, but it's coming
205
:directly from him with a specific
message about the future of Israel.
206
:So I don't think this is saying to
you as the Christian, Hey, go and
207
:speak life into this situation.
208
:Now, Proverbs, which are women are
gonna be studying next weekend,
209
:does say that the tongue has
the power of life and death, but
210
:that's a different kind of life.
211
:That's not to speak life as in
manifesting life or creating life
212
:that's giving, it's a life giving.
213
:It's edifying, it's building someone
up or tearing someone down in
214
:that, in the death side of that.
215
:Yeah, I wouldn't grab that,
that principle from here.
216
:Can I still sing Toby Max Speak life?
217
:Sure you can.
218
:Yeah.
219
:Okay.
220
:Just know that it's, it
doesn't come from this.
221
:Okay.
222
:Yeah.
223
:I accept those terms.
224
:Yeah.
225
:What's interesting is I brought
this up before, but you go to Israel
226
:on the Mount of Olives, all of
the tombstones and there's these
227
:massive graveyards that are there.
228
:I think you said you
wanted to be buried there.
229
:I did.
230
:And I can, 'cause I'm partially Jewish,
you can actually, yeah, probably
231
:from the trap of ju you may need a
little bit of money to get in there.
232
:Pretty sure it's pretty
well booked up after.
233
:I think the church will support me in
this about:
234
:Anyways all of their feet are facing
the city, so there the amount of
235
:olives is outside the walls of the
city and all of these tombstones are.
236
:The people are buried so that
their feet face the city.
237
:And the reason is because when the Messiah
comes back, they believe they will be
238
:brought to life and enter into the city
for the millennial kingdom with him.
239
:And Ezekiel 37 is the background
to that belief that the bones will
240
:literally be brought back to life.
241
:And they will enter into the city with
the resurrect, with as resurrected
242
:saints, with the Messiah at that point.
243
:So it does come through in
Jewish theology that way.
244
:Alright let's talk interesting stuff.
245
:Some more here with with GOG and May Gog.
246
:And this is one of those sections
that I, I think as long as we don't
247
:try to press it too much, it doesn't
have to be super confusing for us.
248
:And it's become super confusing
because people have said who is
249
:GOG and who and what is May GOG?
250
:And it's this person and it's
this area and when we begin to do
251
:that's when we begin to cross lines
into speculation and that's when
252
:we can begin to get in trouble.
253
:And sometimes it comes back to bite us.
254
:For example, the Bible Knowledge
commentary, when they comment, wrote
255
:their section on Ezekiel 38, said,
this is probably gonna be somebody
256
:that's gonna come out of the USSR.
257
:So if you know anything about recent
history, the USSR hasn't really been
258
:around or been a thing for a while.
259
:So when we make bold claims about things
like that we have to be careful because
260
:now all of a sudden we, we look like.
261
:If it's not the USSR,
then who is it gonna be?
262
:And can I trust what you have
to say on these other things?
263
:We have to take the Bible for
as much as we can understand it.
264
:What we can say is, I believe that G GOG
is the antichrist here, and he's gonna
265
:come from a land known as Mego, and
he's going to come against the people
266
:of Israel during a time when there's a
general peace with the people of Israel.
267
:So if we flash forward.
268
:To the time of the tribulation, period.
269
:So the church has been raptured.
270
:The church has been taken
off the scene, by the way.
271
:Okay, let's set context.
272
:We're in the church age right now.
273
:Next thing for us is the rapture.
274
:So Christ is gonna come back
and remove the church from the
275
:scene to go to be with him.
276
:Then there's the seven
year tribulation period.
277
:The first three and a half years
of that tribulation period.
278
:The antichrist is going to have a treaty
of peace with the nation of Israel.
279
:And so that would help us understand
Ezekiel 38, 8, and verse 14, when
280
:the people of Israel are currently
at peace, when GOG shows up on
281
:the scene to come against them.
282
:When GOG attacks, he's
coming from the north.
283
:And again that's could be that they're
located in the north, but remember,
284
:Babylon came from the North, Persia
came from the north against Babylon.
285
:It's the direction of
invading armies is the north.
286
:When we read about it in prophecy.
287
:So God comes against God's people
and he's going to attack them and
288
:he's going to bring his vengeance
upon them, his aggression on them.
289
:And it, it sounds like a lot in verses
18 through 23, that this seems a lot
290
:like those last three and a half years
of the tribulation, when the antichrist
291
:is really gonna ratchet up the heat
against Israel, against the people of God.
292
:And so that to me seems to be
who God is the antichrist who
293
:comes from the land of Mago.
294
:The antichrist is going
to have a nationality.
295
:What nationality?
296
:We don't know, and that's where we can
get into trouble trying to speculate on
297
:that, but that seems to be what Ezekiel
Chapter 38 is dealing with GOG and Magog.
298
:Yeah, probably the best way to look
at this is that this is clearly a
299
:confederation of nations against Israel.
300
:That's as simple as you need to keep it.
301
:And once you understand that this
nation, these nations, this collection
302
:of nations, they're working together
against them upending their peace and
303
:giving it one more go to destroy them.
304
:And of course, God's not
gonna let that happen.
305
:And that really is the point.
306
:To your point, I agree entirely.
307
:It does us a disservice
to try to say this.
308
:Nation is this particular
people group, and they live
309
:over here, that kind of thing.
310
:So be careful with that.
311
:Some people talk about reading
the Bible and reading the
312
:newspaper at the same time.
313
:Would you would you encourage
something like that because you do
314
:want to look at the nations and look
at the headlines and say clearly
315
:scripture talks about this, but to.
316
:To say this, is that a helpful
practice that you would've commend?
317
:Jesus does tell us, Hey,
we need to be watchful.
318
:We need to watch for the signs
of the times we need to not keep
319
:our heads buried in the sand.
320
:We need to be ready for those things.
321
:But I think that's our takeaway is at the
end of the day, not looking to press the
322
:details as much as to say, am I ready?
323
:Am I ready for the return of Christ?
324
:Yeah, it could be at any time.
325
:Now you're gonna hear
wars and rumors of wars.
326
:He says, this is not the end yet.
327
:This is the beginning of the end.
328
:This is the birth pangs.
329
:Certainly we can look around
and see that there's been
330
:rumors of wars for eons, right?
331
:And we need to understand that Christ
could come back at any minute, and I don't
332
:think we should read the news and the
Bible in the same breath and say, okay,
333
:so that helps me interpret the Bible.
334
:I think we need to say, the Bible
helps me interpret what's going on
335
:in the news today, and that is that.
336
:That Christ is going to come back.
337
:There is something that God
is doing on the timeline and
338
:I need to be ready for that.
339
:Yeah.
340
:That direction is critical.
341
:Yeah.
342
:We use the Bible to interpret the
news not the other way around.
343
:Yeah.
344
:Alright, anything else on, on 38?
345
:I know GOG and Mago big deal.
346
:But I think, again if we keep it
simple it is, it's understandable
347
:when we read through it.
348
:Cool.
349
:Chapter 39, then we get into Ezekiel
focusing on the judgment of gog.
350
:Now, the judgment of go's armies God
is not going to put up with this.
351
:He's not going to allow Gog
ultimately to be victorious.
352
:And this is again.
353
:The end times situation.
354
:And so if this is the antichrist, that
coalition, then what's going to take
355
:place is that the Lord is gonna come back
and he's gonna vanquish the antichrist.
356
:He's gonna vanquish the false prophet.
357
:He's gonna vanquish all
of his forces and enemies.
358
:And that is gonna be the moment that marks
the beginning of the millennial kingdom.
359
:And what we read about in chapter 39
is the destruction of all of these
360
:armies that are gathered against
God's people is pretty vast, such
361
:that it's going to take seven.
362
:Months for God's people to go out and to
clean up the land of all of the corpses
363
:that have been laid waste in this land.
364
:And all of the remnants of the
co corpses, they talk about going
365
:out and marking where different
bones are and things like that.
366
:So I don't know what that, that
distraction is going to look like, but
367
:I can imagine that even from what we've
seen from some things for example,
368
:the atomic bombs that were dropped in
Japan during World War ii th their w.
369
:Still finding evidence of
the damage of those things.
370
:When they do different digs and things
like that, they're still saying,
371
:oh, look at this fragment from this
building that shows a char mark from
372
:the explosion that took place there.
373
:So whatever God's ultimate judgment
is gonna be here, it doesn't have to
374
:be that there are so many bodies that
is gonna take seven months to grab
375
:all of the bodies and bring them back.
376
:But the general cleanup process to
cleanse the land of the defilement of
377
:corpses is gonna take seven months.
378
:That's what the scripture says.
379
:I think we believe at that for face
value and say that's what it's gonna be.
380
:I think this is taking place
concurrent with the reign of Christ.
381
:I don't think this is a seven month
gap where Jesus is waiting to set
382
:up the millennial kingdom until this
takes place, I think he's there.
383
:And this is part of the cleansing
process that's taken place in the
384
:dawning of the millennial kingdom here.
385
:But God is gonna be destroyed
by God is the point.
386
:Here.
387
:Here are the heart behind this.
388
:So what, it's 2025 right now, right?
389
:I don't see this happening next week.
390
:This doesn't really change a whole
lot for me when I go to the office
391
:as I'm driving to work right
now, maybe, or I'm at the gym.
392
:What does this do for me?
393
:Yeah.
394
:A couple things.
395
:Number one, you're gonna be with Christ.
396
:We're gonna be there as the church.
397
:When Christ comes back to reign
during the millennial kingdom,
398
:the church comes back with him.
399
:And when all of this has taken place
in Ezekiel 39 is being fulfilled
400
:and the cleanup process is taking
place, we're gonna be there.
401
:And so this is something that,
that we wanna know about because
402
:we'll be on the scene for this.
403
:This is not something that's we somewhere
else and this doesn't relate to us at all.
404
:We're gonna be present there, number one.
405
:And then number two, it.
406
:Tells us and provides comfort
for us that God wins in the end.
407
:And that's such a huge comfort
in the world in which we live.
408
:When things are so chaotic and you do
look at the news and sometimes the news
409
:carries more weight than the Bible does
from time to time, this is a reminder.
410
:God wins in the end and we can trust
that and have a peace about that.
411
:As we we move through this
life, that's a great reminder.
412
:We need that because we often
are so caught up with our
413
:lives and our situation, right?
414
:Even as I brought up the question,
thinking, we're just thinking
415
:about my slice of earth, right?
416
:And what I have to do.
417
:We forget so many times the larger story
that's taking place and our privilege
418
:position is that we're part of the
story, but we are not the main character.
419
:God is the main character.
420
:His glory will be vindicated.
421
:And this is the role that we play in,
that we support, that we encourage that.
422
:We long for that.
423
:We pray for that.
424
:And this is the end of all human history.
425
:Really.
426
:We're seeing the last stages of
human history being wrapped up.
427
:This is end game, but in real life, right?
428
:And God's end game is really on, on.
429
:On stage here, not the Avengers,
it's God, he's the great avenger,
430
:and he will set all things right.
431
:So whatever's happening in your life,
if you're parenting and you're having
432
:a difficulty with your child, or if
you're gonna work and there's a, a
433
:boss situation, this is the bigger
picture, don't forget that will help
434
:you put everything else in perspective.
435
:Yep.
436
:A hundred percent.
437
:Let's pray and then we'll
wrap up this episode.
438
:Lord, we are grateful for that
truth that you win in the end
439
:and that is such a good thing.
440
:And you are the one that is going
to decide when that end comes.
441
:And the timing of all of it is yours.
442
:And we want to trust you.
443
:We wanna walk faithfully right now.
444
:We wanna live in obedience to
you right now and live ready
445
:for that whenever it happens.
446
:So as we navigate through
texts like Ezekiel 37.
447
:38, 39.
448
:Help us Lord to see why
this does matter to us.
449
:That it does impact us where we sit today
and prosper Solana or Frisco or McKinney
450
:or wherever we happen to be listening
to this, that this matters because it's
451
:the outworking of your sovereign plan.
452
:And that involves today to today.
453
:We were one day closer to this being
reality than we were yesterday.
454
:And tomorrow will be another day closer.
455
:And so we don't wanna take these days
for granted because they're moving
456
:forward in the progression of the
unfolding of Salvific redemptive
457
:history according to your will.
458
:And so help us to play the role that
you have for us in that which right
459
:now is to trust and to look for your
return and to make sure that we are on
460
:mission to point others to Christ as
well as we pray this in Jesus name, amen.
461
