Hello, Earnest Mann here. In this episode, I’m cutting through the noise and sharing one of the most powerful mental tools you’ll ever hear about: realism. We’re talking about how realistic thinking—grounded in science, history, and common sense—can reduce life's problems and increase your ability to thrive, even when times are rough.
You want real results in life? It starts with accurate perception. If your worldview is built on delusions, you're setting yourself up for failure before you've even begun. From people believing they're Jesus to the mentally ill being handed government jobs—this isn't satire, it's a reality check. And it all ties back to the philosophy of realism.
In tough times, hugs and “positive vibes” don’t pay rent. Real love shows up through tangible support—not empty words. I share a brutal truth here: if someone isn’t willing to demonstrate love with action, they’re not being honest, whether they realize it or not.
If someone helps you out—fixes your car, gives you a place to stay, or feeds you when you're broke—you owe them. That’s symbiosis, a principle at the heart of realism and human progress. Whether it’s paying it forward, helping them when they need it, or something as basic as scratching their back in return—this is how real community works.
I’ll be diving more into the full four laws of realism in future episodes, but this one covers the first law clearly: people must show love through real action. Not prayer, not vibes—real, concrete help. And if someone gives that to you, you better be ready to give back when the time comes.
Realism and Advanced Perception aren’t just nice philosophies—they're battle-tested strategies for surviving and thriving in a world full of BS. From tote bags that hold a ridiculous amount of ramen noodles to Joe Rogan owing me a million bucks, I keep it real… and I expect you to do the same.
I would like to meet - both online and in person - individuals interested in discussing ideas on what really needs to be changed, to improve the quality of our lives.
So if you have a suggestion for an episode topic, or simply want to reach out to me for help, you can reach me via my website's contact page - https://theearnestmannshow.com/aboutcontact - and I will get back to you ASAP.

Everybody has and will have problems,
0:02
but the number of and severity of those
0:05
problems can be minimized. And I wanted
0:07
to share with you one of the most
0:08
powerful solutions to those problems a
0:11
person can ever have. Hello, my name is
0:14
Ernest and this is Advanced Perception,
0:17
where a very lifeexperienced old guy
0:20
like me offers unconventional advice on
0:23
a variety of life situations and
0:25
troubles. So, if you find this episode
0:28
interesting or helpful, please subscribe
0:30
and feel free to ask any questions or
0:33
leave a comment in the description
0:35
below. Now, let's jump into this. What
0:40
I'm going to tell you is very much
0:41
grounded in both actual history and
0:44
science, and it's extremely beneficial.
0:47
It's called realism.
0:49
You see, just about anything that you
0:52
want to accomplish in this world first
0:55
requires an accurate perception of it.
0:58
And if you don't have that, you're
1:00
already screwed before you're even out
1:03
of the gate.
1:05
This is one of the reasons why if a
1:07
person harbors a delusion and publicly
1:10
demonstrates that delusion by believing
1:14
for example that they are a famous
1:16
historical figure such as Napoleon or
1:20
Jesus Christ typically doesn't do very
1:23
well in life especially when they're
1:26
broadcasting that they are in fact
1:29
Napoleon or Jesus Christ in public and
1:33
expect others to treat them as such.
1:34
touch. Back in my day, in what I
1:38
consider more intellectually honest and
1:40
rational times, such people were
1:43
referred to as well crazy and were put
1:47
in facilities whether they wanted to be
1:50
or not to not only protect themselves
1:53
but to protect society as well. But
1:56
apparently that idea is no longer
1:59
currently in vogue and society has
2:02
decided that it is somehow better to
2:05
have such mentally ill people living on
2:08
the street or the lucky ones who get
2:12
government jobs such as congressmen and
2:15
senators.
2:17
Now, aside from all that, assuming that
2:20
you have your faculties reasonably
2:23
intact, there is an entirely doable set
2:26
of certain life rules that goes far
2:30
beyond hope and actually produces
2:33
positive effects in a person's life.
2:36
Realism.
2:38
Fortunately, the tenants of realism, the
2:42
rule book, if you will, has only four
2:44
main laws. And those laws in turn can be
2:48
subdivided and applied to just about
2:51
every facet of life. And here is just
2:54
one of them. Your entire life, those you
2:59
interact with must demonstrate any
3:03
professed love for you through actual
3:06
loving actions.
3:08
If, for example, you're having serious
3:11
financial problems and you not cannot
3:14
pay your rent, people stopping by and
3:17
giving you a hug and promising to send
3:20
positive vibes and emotional support
3:23
your way or offering to pray for you,
3:27
are in fact, even if they don't know it,
3:30
being dishonest. So, you might want to
3:33
tell them, "Thanks for the prayer
3:35
offerings, but you'd much rather have
3:38
cash." And if they can't offer that, see
3:42
if they can offer you sex. It won't pay
3:45
the bills, but it could end up making
3:48
you feel quite heavenly. No prayers
3:51
required.
3:52
Honestly, there are a few wonderful
3:55
people in my life that have gone above
3:58
and beyond to help me in times of
4:01
crisis. And here's my thoughts.
4:04
Preserving my dignity is very important
4:07
to me, and I never want to be a burden
4:10
to anyone. But if or when the time came
4:15
that I should suddenly find myself in a
4:18
much better financial situation, such as
4:21
like Joe Rogan actually coming through
4:25
with the million dollars he promised me,
4:27
for example,
4:29
the people who helped me when I was
4:32
having a crisis are at the top of my
4:35
list to repay in kind because symbiosis
4:39
is a pure and simple rule of realism. Or
4:43
to put it another way, you should never
4:46
forget those that have saved your ass,
4:50
which is a true expression of love, if
4:53
there ever was one. Now, I just want to
4:56
clarify that sometimes
4:59
the people involved in your life,
5:01
whether they be friends or family,
5:04
simply may not have the means to
5:06
financially help you. And I totally
5:09
understand that. But what I'm expressing
5:12
here boils down to them demonstrating a
5:15
willingness, an understanding of
5:18
symbiosis, a core principle of advanced
5:22
perception, which again goes back to
5:25
realism. Advanced perceptions foundation
5:29
philosophy. If I could just take a
5:31
moment for this pitch. Here's the
5:34
amazing and incredible Earnest Man tote
5:36
bag.
5:38
Christ, which can be all yours for a
5:42
very reasonable donation by just
5:44
clicking on the link in the description
5:46
below. It's sturdy and holds a lot of
5:49
ramen noodles.
5:51
No, seriously, it it holds a a lot of
5:55
ramen noodles.
5:58
to give you a simple life scenario.
6:01
Let's say for whatever reason, and
6:03
there's a hell of a lot of reasons that
6:06
happens these days, you had a good
6:09
paying job, but it's unexpectedly gone.
6:13
Of course, you're trying to find a new
6:15
job, but in the meantime, your car
6:17
breaks down and you don't have the money
6:19
to get it fixed.
6:22
So, let's say you have a friend, family,
6:24
or associate who is an auto mechanic.
6:27
And simply because he's a decent person
6:31
who understands that you're a good
6:33
person, but that you're simply dealing
6:36
with a rough patch in your life. And a
6:39
hell of a lot of us are these days. He
6:43
agrees to fix your car at no charge if
6:46
you're able to supply the parts. That,
6:49
as they say in Hebrew, is a true mch.
6:53
And that is someone you should certainly
6:56
appreciate.
6:58
But here's the symbiosis part of this.
7:01
What are you willing to do for them?
7:06
If at all possible, you need and should
7:09
do something for them. It can
7:12
potentially be just about anything. Yes,
7:16
if your mind is adult enough, that could
7:18
even include sex,
7:21
assuming they're interested. But you
7:24
must, to the best of your ability,
7:27
engage in symbiosis because if you're
7:30
not willing to do that, you're
7:32
demonstrating an unwillingness to play
7:35
ball with the rules of life. And that's
7:38
a bad thing, not just for them, but for
7:41
you.
7:43
To finish this up, understanding the
7:45
meaning of symbiosis, doing tit for tat,
7:49
quid proquo, or you scratch my back and
7:53
I'll scratch yours, whatever moniker you
7:56
wish to call it, is a core life strategy
7:59
that has been used by people for
8:01
thousands of years and has successfully
8:04
not only helped people to survive, but
8:07
thrive. And it is totally based in the
8:10
philosophy of realism.
8:13
Well, I hope you found this helpful or
8:17
interesting. And if you have any
8:19
questions about this or any of my other
8:22
episodes, you can reach out to me via my
8:25

8:29
And if you really want to give me a
8:30
compliment besides hitting that
8:32
subscribe button, telling a friend about
8:35
the show would be the best compliment
8:37
you could ever give me. Until next time,
8:40
this is Ernest and that's all I've got
8:43
for today. Take care of yourself.
