Data released in June 2023 from the Governors Highway Safety Association showed American drivers are projected to have struck and killed at least 7,508 people walking in 2022. That is a 77% increase since 2010 and the highest number since 1981, according to the study. Georgia saw 344 pedestrian fatalities in 2022. That is 344 too many.
