Jesus said to him, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is
that to you? You follow Me.”
Jesus. John 21:22. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is a Bonus Day in 30 Days in the Gospels. We often get sidetracked by looking at other people. In this case, Peter was curious about the future of one of his friends. He wanted to know what his future would hold—what his place in the story would be. WE often make the same mistake, getting wrapped up in looking at others. We become jealous of their gifts or success; envious of their circumstances—but Jesus quickly sets us straight. What’s happening in their life doesn’t matter to us. Our sole concern is Jesus. Our sole call is to follow him WITHOUT comparing ourselves to those around us. It doesn’t matter to us where or how God calls them; what he does with them. It matters only that we follow this Jesus, wherever he may lead us.
