As we work together to know the letter better into the narrative of the Book of Colossians, we travel to understand what things the Lord requires of us as we learn to apply God's timeless truth truths in our lives.

First, picking it back up in Colossians 2, we're going to be jumping into verse nine with a quick backtrack to verse eight produces one of the strongest declarations you will ever see in the framework of Scripture.

I'm sorry, did I say that right?

Verse 9 is one of the strongest declarations you will see in the framework of Scripture.

Again, it's very helpful for people to understand.

I'm Baptistal.

I have such a dark, deep appreciation for multitudes of denominations.

I love them.

And I don't believe that we should be fighting over our differences scripturally, but rather celebrating our overall unity, which is in the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Verse 9 says, for in Christ all the fullness of the Godhead dwells in bodily form.

I'll say it again because I want you to hear it.

For in Christ all the fullness of the Godhead dwells in bodily form.

I'm not sure what the disconnect is, but in Jesus is everything.

You can't split Jesus away from the Father or the Holy Spirit.

The fullness of the Godhead.

The Godhead is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

That's in Jesus bodily form.

Finally, verse 10 says, you have been made complete in Christ.

So in Christ you are complete.

You do not lack any gift.

You do not lack anything.

Do a quick reference on First Corinthians 1, 4:7 and you find out that we come behind in nothing.

Because in Jesus we have everything and we have been made complete in Jesus.

I'm not sure how to say that any better because I pretty much feel like God did an excellent job saying it right there.

I'm telling you, this is something I want to bring up, and I'm just going to bring this up and just make sure everybody understands this.

I don't want people to think that Jesus is that peace, loving, everything is perfect.

He never says anything to people, to challenge people.

Do you remember the woman who was caught in adultery?

And then she was caught in adultery and they brought that woman in the midst and they brought her before Jesus.

Remember that situation.

And Jesus is like, he who's without sin among you.

Let him throw a stone at her, stooped down, wrote down on the ground.

Those who heard it began, convinced by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the eldest, even to the last.

And Jesus was left alone.

And the woman was standing in the midst.

Jesus raised himself up and saw no one but the woman.

He said, women, where are your accusers?

Has no one condemned you?

She said, no one, Lord.

And Jesus said, neither do I condemn you.

Go and sin no more.

You see that part right there?

That's the part that doesn't get taught.

Which is weird because there's more words in that than the other words.

Neither do I condemn you.

Go and sin no more.

When we do something wrong, when we're doing something wrong, when the lifestyle is wrong, when the actions are wrong, when they're not Christlike, when they're not Christian, like Jesus doesn't go, hey, don't worry about it.

Love is love.

Jesus first message in Matthew 4 was, repent.

Look, if we're doing something wrong, you bring it before the Lord seeking his mercy, and you seek it through repentance.

You come before him and say, oh, please help me.

And he will.

But he will also say, go and sin no more.

Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

I read an article from Newsweek, a godless magazine, telling Christians they're not following their Christian faith.

How would a godless magazine like Newsweek know that they don't know who Jesus is from a brown paper bag?

You gotta beware of false prophets.

It's very important.

So d draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

A Always be ready.

To serve.

To serve.

Always ready to serve.

And what that really means is instead of spending so much time fulfilling our lustful desires, we should be a little bit more accurate and in tune to seek to fulfill the kingdom desire that God has.

What's that prayer in the Sermon on the Mount?

Father, who art thou in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

See how those are connected?

The will of God being done on earth is the kingdom of God on earth.

That's how we need to think of it.

The kingdom of God is where God is king.

Very important to understand that.

And we need to live our lives with him as the king of our lives.

No, it doesn't go perfectly.

The disciples did dumb things, and they did some sinful things, but they did dumb things, right.

Some things were dumb.

Okay, fine.

We do dumb things, we do sinful things.

But we bring it back to the Lord and get it straight.

And he washes us.

He's got no limit to his mercy.

But you have to bring it.

You don't get an open check just to send your brains out.

Otherwise you've never been touched by Jesus.

That's the truth.

And we are in fact at verse eight of chapter two, a pivotal, pivotal verse that I was not able to get to the last time.

And here's what the apostle says.

See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy or empty deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Jesus Christ.

When people talk and speak in the name of God and they do it based on their philosophy, whether it's political or whether it's religious philosophy, it doesn't matter if it's not based on Jesus Christ, it will take people captive.

And Christians are told not to buy into it.

Sometimes you'll go through something, you'll hear something and you'll go, you know, there's part of what that person is saying is true, but there's this whole other part that doesn't seem like it connects and jives.

And that's because what the devil does is he takes a little bit of truth and he marks it up with a lot of lie and puts it together as a new truth.

But any truth that contains lies are lies.

And so the apostle's concerned, he's warning them, he's telling them, be aware, be careful.

See to it that nobody takes captive, takes you captive through some kind of philosophy, some kind of system of thought, or even empty deceptions which are based on human traditions.

That's number one.

And spiritual forces in this world, which is demonic.

It means the fallen man has a philosophy, a way of thinking, and demons have a way of thinking, an influence on man's fallen philosophy and the way we think, we cannot afford, as Bible believing, born again Christians to be taken captive by sinful or demonic philosophies.

And if it wasn't possible, he wouldn't have warned against it.

We must not let that take place.

We need to stand our ground.

It is on Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ alone.

And he is The Savior saving people from sin.

You know who's going to hell?

Everybody.

Unless they get on the lifeboat.

Jesus.

Because man sent himself in the direction of rebellion against God.

The only salvation is Jesus Christ.

And if people don't like it, tough.

God's not going to apologize for it.

He doesn't owe anybody anything ever.

No, I don't think so.

And those big ears really don't help him.

But would they enjoy his perspective on life, culture, politics, food, sports, local and national news?

Then he says this.

Don't be afraid.

Why should you not be afraid?

Because what fear does is immobilizes a person, stops them from moving forward.

And it also eats away at faith.

Fear has this way.

It's kind of like if you think of faith as I'll do this now as chocolate ice cream that has peanut butter in it.

That's faith.

Fear is like somebody drilling a hole underneath and then taking a little spoon and then pulling some of that faith down a little, scoop by scoop by scoop by scoop.

And you don't want your faith reduced because God requires faith to us to engage with him in.

That's his requirement.

That's the vehicle by which he has chosen to engage with humanity.

You don't think God could have said, it's me you're going to believe or I'm going to turn you into a fish.

I mean, you don't think God could have done that.

But he chose the vehicle of faith because that's what he wanted from those that would come to him, a confidence, an assurance in the goodness of God.

So Jesus, the first thing he says, ignore it, don't be afraid of it.

And then he does this one radically crazy, nutsy cuckoo line, just believe.

And we use that in movies and in books and in fairy tales and all that stuff.

We're not talking about any of that stuff.

This is believing.

Looking at a situation just like Abraham did, just like we talked yesterday, how Abraham looked at the circumstance, didn't deny he was old, didn't deny he was past childbearing, and said, I'm just going to believe God anyway.

That attitude of just believe, it's taking a stand in the framework of your faith that says, I'm not moving.

Here I am.

Call me bulldog.

I'm right here.

I'm not going nowhere.

My faith is solid.

That's where, you know, we get the term sodomy from.

And how anybody could think that's okay is just even weirder than everything else.

It's just that same immorality.

Father, we come before you right now.

In the meantime, let's go back to verse nine.

And I'm not going to be able to do the whole thing right here now, because I have to do some of it in the next section.

But I want to start with verse nine.

This is what it says for in Christ.

So we were just talking about philosophies and empty deceptions.

Philosophy is a process of thought.

It's a thinking strategy.

And so these thinking strategies, there's ones that are demonically moved and there's ones that come from sinful man, and they're empty and they're useless and they deceive.

Paul's challenge is what needs to happen is our strategies of thought need to be based on Christ.

That is what our strategies of thought need to be based on.

You need to face your picture, face the image, face the mountain with Jesus in the picture.

Not with worldly thoughts, not with demonic, but with kingdom thoughts.

And so then he goes on to affirm why this is so important.

Why is that so important?

Well, why do we need to fix our philosophy on Christ?

Verse 9, for in Christ.

The phrase for in Christ means because of what I just said.

Here's why.

In Christ, all the fullness of the Godhead dwells in bodily form.

Anybody hears that passage and that annoys you, you need to check your spirit.

That passage should annoy nobody.

All the fullness of the Godhead dwells in bodily full.

You can't split Jesus up, away from the Father and the Holy Spirit.

I just want to keep that clear.

You don't get well, I got the Father, but I don't have the Son and the Holy Spirit.

I got the Holy Spirit.

I don't have the Father or the Son, or I got the Son.

I don't have the Holy Spirit or the Father.

It doesn't work that way.

And one of the most beautiful images, and it's a whole book called the Dance.

And it's not.

We're not talking about Garth Brooks stuff.

It's this dance where you're dancing on the floor with God and in one moment he's the Father, and then you go to make the next move and he's the Son, and then you go to make another move and it's the Holy Spirit.

And that's how interchangeable it all is.

And you're not splitting these up.

You don't come behind anything.

Once Jesus is in your life now, in the truthfulness and the application, Jesus is in your hearts by faith and the Holy Spirit lives inside of you.

Actually, that's how the system is.

The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to continue and fulfill the ministry of Jesus on earth.

That's why Jesus is at the right hand of the Father interceding for us, and he would not leave us as orphans.

That's why the Holy Spirit's inside of us.

And all these principles work together in a unified principle.

You got Jesus, you have what you need.

Just in case you're wondering, I just want to make sure I drop this in there before people start losing their minds.

First Corinthians 14.

I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God, which is given to you by Jesus Christ, that you were enriched in everything by him, in all utterance and in all knowledge, even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you.

So you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In Jesus, you are not behind.

Could there be more activity in your life of the Holy Spirit?

Of course.

As soon as you're ready for it, open to it, willing.

You're not lacking on God's end of supply.

We are lacking on our end of actualizing.

That's a big difference.

What is the David Spoon Experience?

The fat portions from the firstborn of his flock.

He gives.

Listen, Abel gives the best of what he has from the first of what he has, the fat portions from the firstborn.

So let's understand what that really means.

That means that from the blessings and the bounties, he gives in the beginning the best that he's gotten.

And he gives that to God.

While in Cain's situation, it wasn't that he wasn't offering flocks.

That's ridiculous.

People work soil, people work flocks.

You give God the best of what you've got from whatever you're doing.

And Cain brought some of the fruits.

The difference in Cain's description and Abel's description is that Cain brought some, while Abel brought the fruits first.

The best of the firstborn.

One of them brought leftovers, one of them brought the best over.

You understand that difference?

One was left over, one was the best over.

Now, I'm going to take you from that text.

We're just flying through this to Revelation 3.

So we go from Genesis 4 to Revelation 3, covering 66 books in two minutes.

To the angel of the church at Laodicea, write, these are the words of the amen, the faithful, the true witness, the ruler of God's creations.

I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot.

I wish you were either one.

So because you are lukewarm, neither cold or hot, I'm about to spit you out of my mouth.

Yes, the Greek word is throw up.

Upchuck should be the actual word there.

But Jesus said, I'm.

I'm going to go, blah.

I'm going to throw you up.

What do you mean?

Because in their commitment to the Lord, they were wishy washy.

We Went through a whole political season on flip flopping and all this other stuff.

Like great, great, great, great.

That stuff's so old it's not even funny.

This church at Laodicea cannot make the decision to go best.

Maybe not best.

Sometimes the best, maybe not always the best.

Maybe some of the worst, maybe some leftovers.

Maybe none of that.

Maybe we'll figure it out.

We're just gonna.

That's a wishy washy commitment to the Lord and Jesus is so, so nice about it.

He goes, I'm going to throw up.

You bleh.

What?

Cain brings some.

Yeah, yeah, whatever.

God is not a bill that you pay afterwards.

God is not somebody that you give on the back end of.

Once you've gone through everything, this is what I have left over.

We haven't owned a house in years.

It doesn't bother me.

I mean, Noel would like it, but I don't care.

It's like, look, I just want enough to keep doing it.

If I didn't have to ask you, I never would.

But we need to because that's the situation.

And I have a feeling that the Lord's not going to let that change until I let that go.

Yes, that's an issue for me.

It was a really, really tough four weeks.

We've not come out of that hole yet.

I'm hoping that by this weekend.

We will make a dent in it.

Hey, I have a couple of praises and this is kind of in the line of, you know, the Bible verse that says before, before they call, I will answer.

Well, a couple things happened to me this week.

Early in the week, I was just wishing.

I don't think I even prayed it.

I was just wishing that my brother and my nephew could come over and just to see them and do a little praise and worship with them.

That very night they both came over my nephew's hear from out of town and my brother's so busy, he works full time and takes care of his beautiful disabled wife.

And just we hadn't even seen him in quite a few weeks.

So that was such a blessing.

They actually came over to help me tweak my air can my heating in my new Jesus house.

The audience may know that as of a couple of months ago, I moved into my beautiful Jesus home.

But it's an old house.

It's over 100 years old.

So it has a little, you know, needs a lot of work and tweaking.

But those two helped me.

And now the house is Even warmer.

It was cold earlier this month and I was able to fix it with some silver tape.

I shut a door upstairs in the attic on the H vac and that really helped.

But then there were two little other breaches and it was kind of hidden underneath the unit.

And my brother and my nephew helped me and I told them, I said, you know what?

I was kind of wishing this morning I'd get to see you too.

And the Lord did that.

And then one other thing happened yesterday.

I'm part of a Zoom prayer group with my Oral Roberts University nursing friends.

We graduated back in 77, so of the past two years, we've been connecting by Zoom and they're all over the country.

Well, yesterday one of my nurse friends came from Seattle.

She was on layover in Dallas, and Cordelia and I enjoyed having her over at my Jesus house.

And I, I, I'm going to call it my Yeshua house for her because she's a Jewish believer.

And I got to take her to my church's prayer group last night and they loved meeting her and she prayed the shama over a friend there and it was just such a glorious experience to have her over.

So I'm just praising the Lord for the chance to show hospitality in this home and that, you know, I'll be able to do it more and more.

And I do you prayer that I'll catch up.

Like you talked about earlier, you know, we do need to catch up.

There's just so much going on and I do want to be fruitful.

So thank you for letting me share that.

First of all, the testimony about helping get more help on the air conditioner or on the heater.

Now, I think most people know it's going to get a little warmer in a couple of days, but it ain't there yet.

It's just like, it's like, yeah, okay, I'm glad it's getting, but it'd be nice to get and that's awesome that they came out do that and then also that you have that connect.

And I love how you put it because it's like, it's your Jesus house, it's your Yeshua Hamashiach house.

It's your house for the Lord and you want it to be dedicated that way.

But yes, I know exactly what you're talking about because you need help catching up and getting things kind of put maybe aligned a little nicer.

You don't want to say line up all my ducks, because that's when God pulls Out a shotgun and starts shooting ducks, you just want to say, Lord, just align it the way you want it to be.

So let me pray over you that a prayer of praise and a prayer of request for the Lord to help you in that.

I thank you for Joann and Cordelia.

They're wonderful, wonderful sisters in the Lord.

While they're still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers.

And you helped her in that.

And Lord, what a great blessing to fellowship.

Fellowship is always a strengthening.

And how often Paul said, I was strengthened by the coming of Titus.

And just that refreshment that we have for one another, that too, is such a blessing to which we just say thanks.

We don't deserve it.

We greatly appreciate it.

And Joanne and Cordelia, same situation we're in as a ministry and many people are in.

It's like you kind of get a sense, Lord, we get that sense that something good is coming, but we got to hang on till that around the corner comes.

And, Lord, we're asking for that to be swiftly moved in our direction.

Not for our selfishness, but certainly for your glory, that you might just open these little doors, make these provisions, make these things.

It's not hard for you, Lord, but you do want us to have faith that it's going to happen.

You know what, Lord?

We believe.

We believe you show us your glory.

And so we pray that very prayer for them personally, for people in the audience, for myself, in the ministry.

We ask for your help.

And you know what, Lord?

We know you're answering before we're even calling.

And we love you for that and appreciate you.

I was gonna say something, and now I can't remember what it is.

So if you were Steve Martin, you'd go, oh, I remember.

Anyway, here is this next portion, this being complete in Christ.

So now being bapticosal.

I'm telling you this as a brother on both sides.

And the reason that I bring that up is I don't want anybody thinking, well, he's more Baptist than Pentecostal.

He's more Pentecostal than Baptist.

No, I'm not.

I'm more Jewish than I am anything.

I mean, I'm Christian Jewish, but I mean, that's what I am more than anything.

And the thing about this is I have a difference of approach, as many Baptistals do, that it's not a matter of you having an entire second experience when you get saved, as much as you and I opening up to the fullness of what the experience is in Christ.

That's just my take.

It's not a weird take.

Most, I would say many, many theologians have that take.

In fact, most Baptists are much more Pentecostal than they'll admit.

And then most Pentecostals are much more Baptist than they'll admit.

And why is that?

Well, we always want our team to win, don't we?

Even if it's the Lions and they didn't win, we'll just move on from there.

Here's what I want you to be aware of.

In Jesus, you have what you need.

Does that mean you're open to everything Jesus will bring in your life?

No.

You should be.

You can be.

You're invited to be.

But what we do is we think, well, that's all I need.

I'm more convinced after being a Christian for a while that I am nowhere close to.

I have everything going the way it needs to go now.

I spend a lot of time with the Lord.

I spend a lot of time in fellowship.

I spend a lot of time with ministers.

I do a lot of that, right?

I don't even close, but I don't even think of it in those terms.

I think of it as more.

More.

I want more because I want as much of the Lord as my life.

Because I'm not stupid either.

That makes it better for me.

And that's what each and every one of us needs.

Each and every one of us needs more of him.

Even if we're super close or not super close.

If you're not super close or if you're really, really far away.

I mean, if you say to the Lord, I'm far away, please help me get closer to you.

Do you think he's going to go?

No, I don't think so.

I don't like that prayer.

No, no, no.

If you think that, then you have a very weird concept of God or you've been very wounded and you need to change that because he wants to spend eternity with you and I, so why wouldn't he get close to you?

Just think of it in those terms, right?

It's like, wow, right?

Wow.

We need to think that through.

Maybe a little better.

He wants more of us.

Okay, let's agree with him and connect to him.

What are you complete in Christ?

Who is the head over every ruler and authority?

Who's in charge?

Jesus.

And in China, they're doing this.

In America, they're doing this.

And you have been made complete in Christ.

Who is the head over every ruler and authority?

He doesn't mean everyone.

Isn't it amazing how those words never apply when they apply every ruler and authority?

You think stuff's happening where God's going, oh, God never Says oh, we say oh.

He doesn't say oh.

So in Christ we have all the fullness of the deity dwells in bodily form.

And you have been made complete in Christ.

You can't unwrite this, who is the head over every ruler and authority.

And then it says this in verse 11, which is in him.

You were also circumcised.

Did you know you're circumcised?

I'm sorry, Dave, I'm a female.

Did you know you were circumcised?

In the putting off of the sinful nature with the circumcision performed by Christ and not by human hands.

What does that mean?

That means the old you got cut.

The old you has been cut by Christ.

Well, Dave, why are we still fighting then that tension between the old and the new?

Why is it not.

Because it's super clear you're going to hate this, that Jesus has to stay in heaven until the appointed time, which will be the second Coming, where the full redemption of our salvation is manifest.

That's why.

Here's the answer.

Ready?

Because death still exists.

The fullness of the redemption of the law has not taken place practically.

And if you die, you will not be separated from the Lord.

You'll be with the Lord, but the fullness manifested to everybody has to wait until the time appointed when Jesus returns.

And yes, I know everybody's got this, that and whatever theory on the return.

Here's the same response you and I ought to have regarding that thought process.

It's how the whole book ends.

Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus.

That's what we should be praying.

That's what you should be asking.

That very thing.

Nothing different.

Even so, come quickly.

That's what we want.

But in the meantime, Jesus has empowered you and I not to live in the old.

We've been circumcised.

The too much flesh part has been cut off.

The only question is whether we're walking in Christ or not.

Any.

Any person in Christ is a new creation.

That's not the problem.

The problem is there's days we wake up and we don't walk in Christ.

That's the problem right there.

Do you get that?

That's super important.

We look forward to it.

You should know that God has given you everything you need in Jesus Christ.

You are complete in Christ.

Does that mean you're using everything?

No, but you got it.

Maybe we should be a little more open to it.

What if it gets weird?

So what?
