He emphasizes that God's plans are often fulfilled in unexpected ways, illustrating this through biblical prophecy and personal anecdotes. With a blend of humor and spiritual insights, this episode invites listeners to embrace a more humble approach to life's challenges while remaining open to divine guidance.

Engaging and thought-provoking, this podcast episode captures Dr. David Spoon's vibrant personality as he navigates the complexities of faith through the lens of the nine fruits of the Spirit. The episode begins with a light-hearted yet meaningful inquiry into which fruit listeners feel they embody the most, setting a tone of personal exploration and spiritual reflection. Dr. Spoon’s humor shines through as he eliminates judgment from this self-assessment, allowing for an open dialogue about spiritual development.

Transitioning from personal introspection to biblical narrative, Dr. Spoon delves into the significance of Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. He discusses the prophecy from Zechariah 9:9 that foretold this event, emphasizing the stark contrast between the expectations of a powerful leader and the humility exhibited by Jesus as he enters on a donkey. This poignant moment serves as a powerful metaphor for how we might approach our own challenges—often, the most effective leadership is rooted in humility and gentleness. Dr. Spoon’s insights provoke listeners to reconsider traditional notions of strength and authority in their lives.

As the episode progresses, the emphasis on community is brought to the forefront, with Dr. Spoon encouraging listeners to share their prayer requests and praise reports. He highlights the importance of connection within the faith community, reinforcing the idea that we are stronger together. The episode concludes with a compelling reminder that all answers and solutions lie in our relationship with Jesus, encapsulating the core message of the podcast: that personal faith and communal support are essential in navigating the complexities of life. Dr. David Spoon:

That's pretty good.

Dr. David Spoon:

One right there.

Dr. David Spoon:

The review of the goofy news which proves Jesus is coming back sooner than you think.

Dr. David Spoon:

We hope before this show is over life lessons for our faith that we could actually use probably won't if we sit on our blessed assurance humor that will force you to think, why does this guy have a radio show?

Dr. David Spoon:

Because God can use weird people and he often does and I'm the proof.

Dr. David Spoon:

Also, Bible trivia for fake and yet somehow real cool prizes, your phone calls and more.

Jim or Jacob:

Living this life, not always easy running in.

Dr. David Spoon:

Welcome to the David Spoon Experience.

Dr. David Spoon:

Local, national and heavenly talk.

Dr. David Spoon:

My name is Dr.

Dr. David Spoon:

David Spoon.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'll be your host for the next 5,400,000 milliseconds.

Dr. David Spoon:

Get ready for one of the more bizarre experiences on live radio.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here is the key to the show.

Dr. David Spoon:

We don't know what we're doing.

Dr. David Spoon:

We have no idea what's going to happen and we don't care.

Dr. David Spoon:

But for the next few minutes, I want to talk hope with you.

Dr. David Spoon:

So here we go.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're asking questions about living life as a Christian.

Dr. David Spoon:

That thing right there.

Dr. David Spoon:

Starting off this new year:

Dr. David Spoon:

Get ready.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here it is.

Dr. David Spoon:

There are nine fruits of the spirit listed.

Dr. David Spoon:

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control.

Dr. David Spoon:

Which is your strongest fruit?

Dr. David Spoon:

Without trying to feel like prideful, no judgment on this end.

Dr. David Spoon:

Just simply asking you in the nine fruits that I just reviewed, which of your strongest and it's okay to answer.

Dr. David Spoon:

It really is.

Dr. David Spoon:

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control.

Dr. David Spoon:

Which one do you do?

Dr. David Spoon:

Pretty good.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's what we're asking.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you have an answer to that, an opinion, a comment, a thought or a question about something else, please don't let it die of loneliness.

Dr. David Spoon:

Just reach out and give us a holla.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

Talking to Jim and Jacob is like talking to a person that you can count on.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's nice.

Jim or Jacob:

Thank you, David.

Jim or Jacob:

Happy chilly Tuesday.

Jim or Jacob:

It is cold outside.

Dr. David Spoon:

A little bit cold.

Dr. David Spoon:

Still in shorts.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm still wearing shorts.

Dr. David Spoon:

I just want to point that out.

Dr. David Spoon:

But yes, it's a little cold.

Dr. David Spoon:

We will be doing, of course, Jake's take later on because there's a lot of news going on there.

Dr. David Spoon:

Some people are still trying to figure out, where were you yesterday, Dave?

Dr. David Spoon:

Where were you indeed?

Dr. David Spoon:

Well, my doggie has been sick.

Dr. David Spoon:

We finally got a medicine.

Dr. David Spoon:

We got that taken care of.

Dr. David Spoon:

Had to get that done about 12 o'clock, my wifey got sick.

Dr. David Spoon:

She had to stay home.

Dr. David Spoon:

She wasn't feeling good.

Dr. David Spoon:

She's at work today.

Dr. David Spoon:

She could use some prayer.

Dr. David Spoon:

She's gonna make it till about 2 o'clock and then boom.

Dr. David Spoon:

I told her come home so that she's okay.

Dr. David Spoon:

So I was kind of taking care of the family.

Dr. David Spoon:

Caught a little bit of the sniffies myself, but just not enough to keep me down.

Dr. David Spoon:

Just not enough.

Dr. David Spoon:

Nope.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm sorry.

Dr. David Spoon:

Just too much to do, too much to take care of, too many kingdom things, too many kingdom issues.

Dr. David Spoon:

And besides, Noelle doesn't like it when I'm at home when she's sick and I try to take care of her because I'm a really bad kind of nurse person.

Dr. David Spoon:

Like, kind of like one of those really awful, like, do this, do this, do this.

Dr. David Spoon:

So it's better that I leave the house, you know, we figured some of this stuff out.

Dr. David Spoon:

We really have.

Dr. David Spoon:

All right, but let's go back to this.

Dr. David Spoon:

Why, why, why, why?

Dr. David Spoon:

Why would you bother to call us?

Dr. David Spoon:

Well, it'll be the same reason that you would text us or the same reason that you would email us.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

Don't call that number.

Dr. David Spoon:

You gotta text that number.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's the ministry line, but it only does texts between 1:30 and 3.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

Or you can email.

Dr. David Spoon:

What?

Dr. David Spoon:

Email?

Dr. David Spoon:

What's that, Dave?

Dr. David Spoon:

You can email david@hemustincreased.org david d a v I d@he hemustincrease.org, all of those things will come right to me, right in front of me, right at my desk, right now.

Dr. David Spoon:

Why would you do it?

Dr. David Spoon:

It's simple, it's not complex.

Dr. David Spoon:

Maybe you've got a praise report, a testimony, something that happened.

Dr. David Spoon:

The Lord answered your prayers.

Dr. David Spoon:

Well, call up and share it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Just share.

Dr. David Spoon:

You're not going to make it any better or any worse by the way you present it.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's up to God to touch it as it's in the air.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you got a praise report, share it.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you got a prayer request, bring it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Because we believe in prayer.

Dr. David Spoon:

We believe God answers prayer.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you don't believe God answers prayer, how are you saved?

Dr. David Spoon:

Aha.

Dr. David Spoon:

Challenging thought right there.

Dr. David Spoon:

And we think it's an excellent, excellent thing to connect all of us.

Dr. David Spoon:

Paul said in Romans:

Dr. David Spoon:

That's how you join.

Dr. David Spoon:

Additionally, maybe you've just got something you want to share.

Dr. David Spoon:

Something happened was just phenomenal.

Dr. David Spoon:

I just want to share it.

Dr. David Spoon:

I just want to continue to acknowledge the Lord in it absolutely, positively.

Dr. David Spoon:

We want you to do that.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay.

Dr. David Spoon:

And you have a format to do that.

Dr. David Spoon:

Our goal, we're not anti politics.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's get out of that.

Dr. David Spoon:

We don't think that we're four people being involved in the system.

Dr. David Spoon:

As long as they are doing this with God and not with agendas or anything else with God.

Dr. David Spoon:

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Dr. David Spoon:

Are you doing it that way?

Dr. David Spoon:

You're doing it the right way, so it can be for any of those things.

Dr. David Spoon:

I do have a couple things I need to share with you.

Dr. David Spoon:

Then we will jump into the teaching.

Dr. David Spoon:

For those of you that are unaware, it is possible that we could have some very interesting weather coming up.

Dr. David Spoon:

That does not mean you need to be afraid of the weather.

Dr. David Spoon:

It does not mean you have to stay hunkered down and go nowhere.

Dr. David Spoon:

We do not know what that weather will be.

Dr. David Spoon:

And we are aware that Dallas and Texas, by and large has pretty much has got weather that's bipolar.

Dr. David Spoon:

And you're thinking, what does that mean?

Dr. David Spoon:

That means that in one minute it could be 60 degrees and then two hours later it's like 20 degrees, which just happened the other day.

Dr. David Spoon:

So we don't know what's going to happen.

Dr. David Spoon:

We'll see what's happening.

Dr. David Spoon:

We'll do our best to accommodate, but we want to make sure that Jennifer and Jacob and myself are safe.

Dr. David Spoon:

So we'll see how that plays out.

Dr. David Spoon:

But we are aware of that.

Dr. David Spoon:

I am just telling you that ahead of time so you can be aware.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's also put up on the website, in case you're wondering.

Dr. David Spoon:

Finally, before I get into the teaching, let me point this out.

Dr. David Spoon:

This is a very interesting season for our ministry.

Dr. David Spoon:

Why?

Dr. David Spoon:

Because typically by the 15th or 20th of the month, I complete all of the giving receipts being sent to everybody.

Dr. David Spoon:

We are in that process.

Dr. David Spoon:

For those who do not know, it's kind of like taking your head and putting it in a vise and squeezing and squeezing and squeezing until your eyeballs shoot out somewhere across the road.

Dr. David Spoon:

So we're doing that now.

Dr. David Spoon:

There have been about 20% have gone out.

Dr. David Spoon:

There's still a lot more to do.

Dr. David Spoon:

Never fret if the numbers are not exact.

Dr. David Spoon:

Just reach out to me.

Dr. David Spoon:

And we just want to verify.

Dr. David Spoon:

And then we'll get everything corrected and we'll do our best.

Dr. David Spoon:

So be patient in that process.

Dr. David Spoon:

In the meantime, let's jump into it.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're in Matthew, chapter 21, and we're starting with verse one.

Dr. David Spoon:

And believe it or not, this is more fascinating than people will realize.

Dr. David Spoon:

This is the triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here's what it says in Matthew 21, 21 or verse 1.

Dr. David Spoon:

As Jesus and the disciples approached Jerusalem, they came to the town of Bethphage on the Mount Olives.

Dr. David Spoon:

By the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples ahead.

Dr. David Spoon:

Go into the village over there, he said, and you will see a donkey tied there, and with it a colt beside it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Untie them and bring them here.

Dr. David Spoon:

If anyone asks what you are doing, just say the Lord needs them and he will immediately send them.

Dr. David Spoon:

This was done to fulfill the prophecy.

Dr. David Spoon:

Tell the people of Israel, look, your king is coming to you.

Dr. David Spoon:

He is humble on a donkey, even on a donkey's colt.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's verse five.

Dr. David Spoon:

Wow.

Dr. David Spoon:

Right?

Dr. David Spoon:

Wow.

Dr. David Spoon:

Right?

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay, here we go.

Dr. David Spoon:

By the way, that's Zechariah 9.

Dr. David Spoon:

9.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay, here we go.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's talk about this.

Dr. David Spoon:

Jesus and the disciples are approaching Jerusalem.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.

Dr. David Spoon:

Before entering the city, they're approaching the town of Bethpage.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's near the Mount of Olives.

Dr. David Spoon:

Jesus sends two of his disciples ahead to get a donkey.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's funny, there's been speculation on who those disciples are.

Dr. David Spoon:

Doesn't give you quite that.

Dr. David Spoon:

Doesn't give you quite that.

Dr. David Spoon:

But you get that it's two of the disciples.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's most likely two of the 12.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're good for that.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's cool.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here's what he says.

Dr. David Spoon:

Sends two of his disciples on to get a donkey with a colt beside it.

Dr. David Spoon:

He tells them, if anyone questions you, you just say the Lord needs them.

Dr. David Spoon:

Isn't that just the most powerful thing?

Dr. David Spoon:

And then they will be allowed to go.

Dr. David Spoon:

So here's what I'm trying to say.

Dr. David Spoon:

When God wants something to be accomplished, he can just say, you know what?

Dr. David Spoon:

Just say I need them and they will let you go.

Dr. David Spoon:

I don't think people understand how powerful that is, that God is making it absolutely clear, I've got a plan.

Dr. David Spoon:

My plan is coming to pass.

Dr. David Spoon:

If somebody says anything, just say God needs it and that'll be the end of it.

Dr. David Spoon:

And the Lord has already pre arranged if there's any problems, I'll take care of it on my end.

Dr. David Spoon:

People are like, well, what about free will?

Dr. David Spoon:

Not a lot of free will there, I'm just saying.

Dr. David Spoon:

So Matthew tells us about this event.

Dr. David Spoon:

Not that there's no free will, just not a lot of free will there.

Dr. David Spoon:

Matthew tells us about this event that fulfills a prophecy from Zechariah 9.

Dr. David Spoon:

9.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here's what I want you to get.

Dr. David Spoon:

This is so remarkable.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm actually going to use a historical figure for you to understand how powerful this is.

Dr. David Spoon:

But you have to understand, here's Jesus.

Dr. David Spoon:

He's the King of kings, he's the Lord of lords, he is the authority.

Dr. David Spoon:

All things were created by him and through Him.

Dr. David Spoon:

Everything exists through Him.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here Jesus, the King is coming into his city and he enters in this city and we'll just use Napoleon Bonaparte just for a moment, who said the most powerful person ever was Jesus.

Dr. David Spoon:

He created an entire army and didn't use a weapon.

Dr. David Spoon:

And that army still growing today, that's how powerful.

Dr. David Spoon:

So he enters Jerusalem, but does he enter Jerusalem with a large army prepared to take it over?

Dr. David Spoon:

No, he does not.

Dr. David Spoon:

Sometimes we jump into a situation, I do this a lot, just in case you're wondering.

Dr. David Spoon:

And we fire into it.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's like, I'm going to take this by the horns.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm going to make sure I'm tough, I'm strong.

Dr. David Spoon:

Sometimes that is the wrong approach.

Dr. David Spoon:

And Jesus comes into his city as the King of kings and the Lord of Lords, humbly riding on a donkey.

Dr. David Spoon:

What?

Dr. David Spoon:

What?

Dr. David Spoon:

He approaches first in humility.

Dr. David Spoon:

Oh, when he comes back, that's going to be a little bit of a different return, isn't it?

Dr. David Spoon:

When Jesus comes back, going to be on the horse, going to be different armies of heaven are going to be, but not the first time he walks in and you think, what do you mean?

Dr. David Spoon:

But why is that?

Dr. David Spoon:

Well, Proverbs:

Dr. David Spoon:

And sometimes how the Lord sets it up is a soft entrance first, a soft beginning, an initial, very calm, very collective, very simple, very peaceful.

Dr. David Spoon:

That doesn't mean it always stays that way, but that's the entry point.

Dr. David Spoon:

So instead of somebody like me who gets to be a little bit more like a bullish kind of person, jumping in and going, crash, crash, crash, crash.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm going to get everything done with resolve, everything.

Dr. David Spoon:

Sometimes you need to enter into a situation, a circumstance with a greater sense of humility and a greater sense of wisdom and a greater sense of softness.

Dr. David Spoon:

And if that doesn't work out, then see what the Lord brings next.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's a good lesson for many of us.

Dr. David Spoon:

It really is.

Dr. David Spoon:

But I want you to really consider this.

Dr. David Spoon:

This text.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's much more powerful than we think of because it is the absolute fulfillment of prophecy.

Dr. David Spoon:

In Zechariah 9.

Dr. David Spoon:

9, they did a calculation.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's just escaping me where the source is.

Dr. David Spoon:

And it's probably connected to some of the more brilliant theologians, but they did a compilation of the statistical anomalies of how Jesus could fulfill a certain amount of prophecies all the way through his ministry, all the way up death, even to the point of getting the Romans to crucify him.

Dr. David Spoon:

All this thing.

Dr. David Spoon:

And it's astronomical.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's so far out.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's in that, you know, it gets to the infinity level numbers, it's just so deep.

Dr. David Spoon:

And what's important when you get into things of this nature is to understand that this is Jesus spoken of in Zechariah 9.

Dr. David Spoon:

9, doing the exact thing that God said.

Dr. David Spoon:

God was testifying in the Old Testament.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here he comes.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here comes my answer.

Dr. David Spoon:

And as you go into this year and as you're approaching it and there's different things that are happening, I don't want you to forget this basic Christian truth.

Dr. David Spoon:

Your answer is still always wrapped up in Jesus.

Dr. David Spoon:

He is the answer.

Dr. David Spoon:

He is the solution.

Dr. David Spoon:

He is the A to Z, a brilliant bumper stick.

Dr. David Spoon:

We should still.

Dr. David Spoon:

Somebody should still do this.

Dr. David Spoon:

You could always ask Jesus to help.

Dr. David Spoon:

Wouldn't that just be a great bumper sticker?

Dr. David Spoon:

Because it's like, it's so true.

Dr. David Spoon:

And here's the King of Kings coming in humility.

Dr. David Spoon:

But listen, listen as he comes in fulfillment of what God foretold.

Dr. David Spoon:

Don't tell me that's not cool.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's cool.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's cool.

Dr. David Spoon:

We'll get back to this in a second.

Dr. David Spoon:

I want to do my trivia question, but I just thought I'd go on a little bit of a rant since I wasn't here yesterday and make it interesting for Jacob.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here's your first trivia question.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's see if you guys can get this.

Dr. David Spoon:

This is a rather easy one.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's a multiple choice.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's see if you guys can get it.

Dr. David Spoon:

In Daniel chapter four, who had a vision of a tree growing higher and higher until it could be seen by everyone?

Dr. David Spoon:

Who had that vision?

Dr. David Spoon:

Was it Silas, Josiah, Nebuchadnezzar, or Solomon?

Dr. David Spoon:

Daniel:

Dr. David Spoon:

Was that Silas, Josiah, Nebuchadnezzar, Solomon?

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

In the meantime, I'm going to send you to the website.

Dr. David Spoon:

Yes, we are doing the receipts.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm just reminding you if they're not perfect, don't worry, we will get that corrected for your giving receipts.

Dr. David Spoon:

But I also want to remind you that this has been the 1, 2, the 3 most difficult financial weeks we've had in a really long time.

Dr. David Spoon:

But God has been so faithful, gotten us through on every point.

Dr. David Spoon:

I would just ask you to consider giving.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's kind of important because without it we don't do the ministry.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's just that simple.

Dr. David Spoon:

Can't help you any other way.

Dr. David Spoon:

All you get is these receipts I'm talking about at the end of the year.

Dr. David Spoon:

You don't get a whistle, you don't get a car, you don't get a donut.

Dr. David Spoon:

But you do get a pretty good sized thank you and great appreciation for helping us continue doing this work.

Dr. David Spoon:

Check out what's on the website which also has the updates on the shows.

Dr. David Spoon:

Check it out.

Dr. David Spoon:

And if you can give, give, check it out@hemustincrease.org Prayer Request hemosincrease.org Praise Report Looking to give to this ministry.

Dr. David Spoon:

Confused by what's happening right now.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hemustincrease.org hemustincrease.org you know Jacob, I kind of feel like that's really apropos for what might happen on Thursday and Friday.

Dr. David Spoon:

Like, everybody's like, it could snow nothing, right?

Dr. David Spoon:

And it might be nothing zero.

Dr. David Spoon:

And then it's like it could snow like, you know, 2 inches or 4 inches.

Dr. David Spoon:

And it's just like all that stuff.

Dr. David Spoon:

And it's like, who knows?

Dr. David Spoon:

Nobody knows.

Dr. David Spoon:

Only the Lord knoweth right at this moment.

Dr. David Spoon:

But we don't know.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's kind of like the Twilight Zone, you know?

Jim or Jacob:

I was born and raised in Texas, so I don't see snow often.

Jim or Jacob:

So usually when it happens, you know, everybody lives here.

Jim or Jacob:

It's just, it's, it's like, it feels like an event where we all prepare.

Jim or Jacob:

And you, y'all know you've lived in Michigan and you've lived up north, so you're used to it.

Jim or Jacob:

You're like, eh, it's snow.

Jim or Jacob:

I know, it's whatever, right?

Dr. David Spoon:

Yeah, I mean, it's, it's, you know, I mean, not trying to be rude, I also lived in Colorado for a year where it snowed 18 inches in one night.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's like, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's not what concerns me.

Jim or Jacob:

Just another day for you.

Dr. David Spoon:

Yeah.

Dr. David Spoon:

What concerns me is going down to 35 with people who don't know.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's what concerns me.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you're trying to figure it out.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay.

Dr. David Spoon:

So anyway, let's go back to this.

Dr. David Spoon:

Our trivia question in Daniel chapter four, who had a vision of a tree growing higher and higher and higher until it could be seen by everyone?

Dr. David Spoon:

Was that Silas, Josiah, Nebuchadnezzar, or Solomon?

Dr. David Spoon:

Your answer, Daniel 4, 18 through 22.

Dr. David Spoon:

think you know, like we said,:

Dr. David Spoon:

Davidemustincrease.org is the email.

Dr. David Spoon:

Now, I'm going to share something with you about this text that I'm teaching that you may not have heard before.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay?

Dr. David Spoon:

So I'm not saying you've heard it before.

Dr. David Spoon:

You may not.

Dr. David Spoon:

Not the very beginning part, but in this secondary part.

Dr. David Spoon:

So I want you to be aware of what we're talking about.

Dr. David Spoon:

Jesus said, hey, hey, go over there, get that donkey.

Dr. David Spoon:

He's going to be with a colt right next to it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Untie them, both of them.

Dr. David Spoon:

Bring them here.

Dr. David Spoon:

If anybody asks, just say the Lord needs them and immediately they'll send them.

Dr. David Spoon:

This was done to fulfill the prophecy.

Dr. David Spoon:

Zechariah.

Dr. David Spoon:

9, 9.

Dr. David Spoon:

Tell the people of Israel, look, your king is coming.

Dr. David Spoon:

He is humble.

Dr. David Spoon:

Riding on a donkey, even on a donkey's colt.

Dr. David Spoon:

So there's two things I want to say.

Dr. David Spoon:

First and foremost, you must understand that the Old Testament was written for our benefit.

Dr. David Spoon:

The testimony of the Old Testament is absolutely incredible and essential because God is going to declare to the universe how he prophesied or foretold of the coming of Christ.

Dr. David Spoon:

Now, what's important to understand is that when the Old Testament says something, the New Testament gives us that better vibe, better understanding that fulfillment is found right here in Zechariah 9, 9.

Dr. David Spoon:

The fulfillment is found right here in, in Matthew, chapter 21, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

Dr. David Spoon:

The New Testament helps us understand the fulfillment of the prophecy.

Dr. David Spoon:

The New Testament sheds light on the Old Testament significance.

Dr. David Spoon:

It doesn't go the other way around.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's that the New Testament is new because it makes it brighter.

Dr. David Spoon:

And the bringing of a better hope made for a better covenant.

Dr. David Spoon:

And that's what it says in the Book of Hebrews.

Dr. David Spoon:

But I want to take this second to remind you, and this is based on my personal experience and on biblical truth, that animals are often used in Jesus teaching as participants in his work.

Dr. David Spoon:

I don't know if you recognize it or not, but for example, the fish that carried the coin to pay the tax for Peter and Jesus, and here's a donkey and a colt.

Dr. David Spoon:

And I don't think we think about this.

Dr. David Spoon:

I get that.

Dr. David Spoon:

I don't think we think of it in these terms.

Dr. David Spoon:

But what an absolutely incredible honor for the donkey and the colt to carry the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords into his city.

Dr. David Spoon:

They were carrying the King of the universe into the city of their king.

Dr. David Spoon:

I know it seems like a little thing, but maybe it's not so little.

Dr. David Spoon:

Jesus uses and used and still uses animals and nature to show and to teach and to clarify.

Dr. David Spoon:

And it's all through the Gospels, and it's also spread out through the entire scripture.

Dr. David Spoon:

I mean, God used a donkey to rebuke a prophet.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's amazing how much God engages with animals.

Dr. David Spoon:

It doesn't mean that the blood was issued for the lamb, but it does mean that they're participants, which is why they're in bondage until there's the fullness of redemption, until everything is brought together, which ironically, we're still teaching in Romans 8.

Dr. David Spoon:

And that's where it teaches that as well as Romans Chapter one.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's really important for us to grasp that God has a high level of.

Dr. David Spoon:

Of appreciation for animals.

Dr. David Spoon:

And people should recognize that in the Old Testament, where people think, well, there's no care.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's 100% incorrect.

Dr. David Spoon:

In fact, it says, clearly, do not be cruel to your cattle.

Dr. David Spoon:

An absolute law.

Dr. David Spoon:

But people just don't bother to look at that because they don't.

Dr. David Spoon:

You know, it doesn't seem to matter.

Dr. David Spoon:

I think if you're that donkey and you're that colt, you're like going, that's right.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's right.

Dr. David Spoon:

We brought him in.

Dr. David Spoon:

It was us.

Dr. David Spoon:

Isn't that just phenomenal?

Dr. David Spoon:

Just think about the great honor that is.

Dr. David Spoon:

I just think it's fascinating.

Dr. David Spoon:

I think God is more fascinating than we think.

Dr. David Spoon:

Sometimes we have this image of God where he's just a grumpy old man or something really weird.

Dr. David Spoon:

No, stop.

Dr. David Spoon:

He is so awesome.

Dr. David Spoon:

You can't even imagine what he's preparing for you.

Dr. David Spoon:

I mean, come on now.

Dr. David Spoon:

Seven days to make the universe and the Earth.

Dr. David Spoon:

after he's been working on it:

Dr. David Spoon:

Cool, huh?

Dr. David Spoon:

All right.

Dr. David Spoon:

Your trivia question and answer is pretty straightforward.

Dr. David Spoon:

In Daniel 4, who had the vision of a tree growing higher and higher and higher, til everybody could see?

Dr. David Spoon:

It was Silas, Josiah, Nebuchadnezzar, Solomon.

Dr. David Spoon:

It was Nebuchadnezzar.

Dr. David Spoon:

Or as we often call him on the show, Nebby or Nebby the cow.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay, you are listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth stationer in Texas.

Dr. David Spoon:

Short break.

Dr. David Spoon:

We'll be back.

Dr. David Spoon:

Don't go anywhere.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's get into our text.

Dr. David Spoon:

Colossians chapter.

Dr. David Spoon:

We covered everything, right?

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay.

Dr. David Spoon:

Colossians chapter three, verses two through four.

Dr. David Spoon:

Whatever you do.

Dr. David Spoon:

Oh, I'm sorry.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's actually Colossians three.

Dr. David Spoon:

24.

Dr. David Spoon:

Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically.

Dr. David Spoon:

Is something done for the Lord and not for men, knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord because you serve the Lord Jesus Christ.

Dr. David Spoon:

The scripture tells us that whatever we do now, we've gone through this a couple of times and we have to go through it multiple more times to really grasp it.

Dr. David Spoon:

But that phrase whatever we do happens to mean what?

Dr. David Spoon:

Whatever we do.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's what it means.

Dr. David Spoon:

And we're supposed to do it enthusiastically, with an eagerness.

Dr. David Spoon:

Not with an obnoxiousness, with an eagerness to do it as unto the Lord.

Dr. David Spoon:

So the things that we're required to do that we have to do, there should be a disposition and attitude of enthusiasm that is connected to the Lord.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's not that you like to do everything, but if you can understand that in the doing of it unto the Lord, you're doing it with a different priority in mind.

Dr. David Spoon:

You understand that?

Dr. David Spoon:

In other words, what you do, do it unto the Lord and do it with this attitude of a full heart and an eagerness.

Dr. David Spoon:

I had somebody.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'll say her name.

Dr. David Spoon:

Suzy Lopez was at kprz.

Dr. David Spoon:

She was the direct marketing director.

Dr. David Spoon:

Susie did, the marketing director for San Diego.

Dr. David Spoon:

She said something to me one time that was so profoundly simple, it was irritating because I had to do something for a client because that's what you had to do at Salem.

Dr. David Spoon:

And I was like, blah.

Dr. David Spoon:

All right.

Dr. David Spoon:

So she said, dave, she goes, if you can't get out of it, get into it.

Dr. David Spoon:

And it was like, that was really good advice.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you can't remove yourself from it and you have to do it, at least do it right.

Dr. David Spoon:

I mean, do what you're going to do and do it with the right attitude.

Dr. David Spoon:

Do it with the right spirit.

Dr. David Spoon:

Do it with this better mindset.

Dr. David Spoon:

And I think she was more right than wrong.

Dr. David Spoon:

No, I'm not talking about doing bad things or anything like that.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's weird stuff.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm talking about doing it as unto the Lord and recognizing that when you do it that way, it is from the Lord and only the Lord, that you will receive the true eternal reward.

Dr. David Spoon:

You might go through whatever your process is, but when you do it as unto the Lord, you can recognize that the Lord is the one that brings the reward.

Dr. David Spoon:

And that's just living your life for the Lord.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's just good, right?

Dr. David Spoon:

I mean, that can't be a bad thing.

Dr. David Spoon:
