Speaker:

Hey, welcome to another episode

of the daily Bible podcast.

2

:

That didn't do anything.

3

:

That's Roger's gravity.

4

:

It's going to do with my mouth.

5

:

Yeah.

6

:

I tried to grab one of those.

7

:

What do you call these things?

8

:

Horn's birthday.

9

:

Her birthday.

10

:

Yeah.

11

:

Yeah, where you blow them

and they extend, yeah.

12

:

They're supposed to make a sound.

13

:

And that one doesn't.

14

:

It's just nothing.

15

:

That was straight out.

16

:

I was gonna give you that one.

17

:

Hold on.

18

:

Nope.

19

:

Nope.

20

:

What's wrong with these

things because I don't know.

21

:

But did you see, I got

this look, I got this.

22

:

Ah, look at that.

23

:

It's a strobe light

birthday, happy birthday.

24

:

And a lot of flamboyant colors.

25

:

Very nice.

26

:

Yeah.

27

:

Kelly gave that to me, which

I appreciate our staff.

28

:

It's not my birthday today.

29

:

It's coming up.

30

:

It's on the 25th, but

our staff is celebrated.

31

:

For me today, which was super

helpful because you're going to

32

:

be gone for like three months.

33

:

Well, not through going on a sabbatical.

34

:

No, I'm not.

35

:

Yeah, but, uh, this man, this thing could

give somebody with epilepsy, a seizure.

36

:

It's a, oh, certainly it

could, it just flashes right?

37

:

Oh, whoa.

38

:

It changes patterns to.

39

:

I didn't even know.

40

:

That's cool.

41

:

I think you're supposed

to wear it on your head.

42

:

I don't think so.

43

:

There's nothing about this that

says, wear it on your head.

44

:

A piece of duct tape is.

45

:

Yeah, well, I don't think

that's what it's meant to do.

46

:

I think it's just

supposed to sit somewhere.

47

:

It's innovate.

48

:

Let's innovate.

49

:

Let's innovate.

50

:

Hey, so, uh, the big 4 0 4 0.

51

:

As, as promised 40

pieces of divine wisdom.

52

:

Ready?

53

:

Go.

54

:

No.

55

:

Let's give us the, give us the first 10.

56

:

I don't have 40 pieces of divine wisdom.

57

:

No, but one thing that has

been on my mind a lot that I, I

58

:

guess I will share this nugget.

59

:

Um, I don't know if I have

40 years left in front of me.

60

:

I may not.

61

:

I may have less than that, but if I do.

62

:

A lot of times, at least

with these big milestones.

63

:

And I feel it more with this

one than I did turning 30.

64

:

Cause I was thinking, okay,

next 30 years, which I know is

65

:

a Tim McGraw song, but I know.

66

:

You know, the next 30 years from when

you turned 30, you were like, okay, your.

67

:

I'm going to be 60 that's that's

still reasonably young by some

68

:

standards, especially as I get older.

69

:

Um, But now that I'm thinking, okay, next

40 years that these could be the last 40

70

:

years of my life for decades of my life.

71

:

Second half.

72

:

Yeah, I'm thinking about the first four.

73

:

And what my life was like then, and

thinking about the next four and when.

74

:

When I want my life to be like, when I.

75

:

And if I have the, the ability to, to

look back on the next 40 years, right.

76

:

And so the thought that I keep

having is today is part of that.

77

:

That it's it.

78

:

Doesn't, it's not a long-term.

79

:

I mean, it's a long-term goal

to say, this is who I want to be

80

:

at the, uh, by the time I'm 80.

81

:

Right.

82

:

But that's made up of days like today

and it's made up of decisions that are

83

:

made today and it's made up of choices

and priorities and, and pursuits.

84

:

And in all of that,

Today is going to impact.

85

:

What I'm thinking when I'm 80 looking

back at the next 40 years of my life.

86

:

So that's kind of where my entity matters.

87

:

Mine has been, yeah.

88

:

Recently.

89

:

Yeah.

90

:

That kind of gravity is.

91

:

It's a really helpful.

92

:

I feel like every day.

93

:

Requires that kind of like, I

just need to adjust and get there.

94

:

Because it's so easy to just go through

the day and to let this event happen.

95

:

And I got to go at this thing, I got to

pick up this person, and then you can

96

:

just forget like, oh, this is life, right.

97

:

This is what life is made of.

98

:

And if I don't take advantage of

it, I could just as easily go well.

99

:

Uh, go, go throughout my day

without ever thinking twice

100

:

about how precious it is to hear.

101

:

My spouse laugh.

102

:

You notice.

103

:

As you see it to see the wrinkles in

her eyes as she smiles or to hear.

104

:

My kids say certain things that

they're not going to say forever.

105

:

Even the tenor of their voice changes

and your, your grandkids, when you see

106

:

your grandkids and you see, oh, that'd

be that cute thing that they did.

107

:

They're not going to do that forever.

108

:

Right.

109

:

Life.

110

:

Life is so fleeting and

therefore, so precious.

111

:

Not that we don't look

forward to the next life.

112

:

But because this life is so

short, especially by comparison

113

:

to the infinity years that we're

going to spend with Christ.

114

:

It makes perfect sense that we would take.

115

:

And soak up every opportunity

that we have here to see the good

116

:

that God is doing in our lives.

117

:

What a great thing.

118

:

Well, and, and even from the mindset.

119

:

Just a sanctification too.

120

:

I mean, if you're thinking, man, I want

to be more godly in this area, more

121

:

godly and Natty or more godly in this.

122

:

And I remember as a younger man

thinking to myself, when I get older,

123

:

then I'll be more galleon, right.

124

:

This area, that area.

125

:

One more time in, yeah.

126

:

And show up and that's kinda what I'm

thinking along the lines of with this too.

127

:

It's like, okay.

128

:

The man I want to be when I'm 80.

129

:

Isn't going to happen just

by naturally growing older.

130

:

Right?

131

:

Physical takes effort.

132

:

Yeah.

133

:

Physical maturity, aging.

134

:

Comes whether we want it or not.

135

:

Spiritual mature down

involves work and labor.

136

:

Um, It's not proportionate to

our, our, our age necessarily.

137

:

So.

138

:

I want to make sure that I'm still

faithful and growing and saying, okay,

139

:

if this is who I want to be, then.

140

:

What am I doing?

141

:

That's going to be a sum of, of today

and tomorrow and the next day and the

142

:

next day and the next day, as they

all compile on that, up to each other.

143

:

Amen to that, bro.

144

:

That's a good thing.

145

:

Yeah.

146

:

So you're going to take two weeks off.

147

:

So you starting your 40th

year by taking some rest.

148

:

That's good.

149

:

Yep.

150

:

Two weeks out of the office.

151

:

Yep.

152

:

You're traveling.

153

:

Yep.

154

:

Yep.

155

:

We're going up to Boyce college

and then out to Washington, DC,

156

:

we're going to stop and see the

arch and counter to on our way.

157

:

Yeah, it should be a good time.

158

:

The family's going should be

a good family time to get.

159

:

Good recovery.

160

:

Good break.

161

:

So we're not doing the podcast for

two weeks is what you're saying?

162

:

Oh, no, that's actually

not sure you're doing it.

163

:

Yeah.

164

:

You know, I don't.

165

:

I am.

166

:

I don't know.

167

:

Yeah, I'm thinking about it.

168

:

I'm still praying.

169

:

It's going to be the daily Bible, rod cat.

170

:

I don't know how people will

subscribe to that one as much.

171

:

Well, I will try to, so here's

the thing, here's the thing

172

:

we can't recreate this right.

173

:

And I don't want to, I just feel

like why, why would you try to.

174

:

It's like going, it's like

buying the imitation brand.

175

:

You go to Walmart, you

get the great value.

176

:

Manet's it's not gonna taste as good.

177

:

That's true.

178

:

You know that you want the craft

or you want the general, whatever,

179

:

the appreciate that you want.

180

:

I don't want them to be

down with anything else.

181

:

And you chose, man.

182

:

It's the thing that came to my mind.

183

:

Yeah.

184

:

I don't want great value.

185

:

I want the name brand, so I don't

want to re recreate our thing.

186

:

I want the name brand, so

I'll, I'll do something.

187

:

I'll be here every day with you guys.

188

:

We're going to keep this street going.

189

:

We're not gonna break the chain, but

don't expect it to be the same thing.

190

:

We won't even try it.

191

:

We'll just do our own thing

until pastor PG comes back.

192

:

I think you should take on

an alternate personality.

193

:

And you might talk with yourself.

194

:

Okay.

195

:

The daily Bible.

196

:

Talk about the readings.

197

:

What do you think about this?

198

:

We'll see, I'll see.

199

:

I'll try a few places.

200

:

Yeah.

201

:

Do you have a good, do you have a

good, do you have any imitations

202

:

that you do that are like.

203

:

That was.

204

:

That's like it.

205

:

That's the only one I can do.

206

:

Donald duck.

207

:

That's it.

208

:

That's it.

209

:

Huh?

210

:

All right.

211

:

We're going to have to.

212

:

Let's see what else you got you.

213

:

Maybe you should try that.

214

:

I don't think, I don't think I will.

215

:

Try different, different

sounds, different people.

216

:

Yeah.

217

:

Okay.

218

:

Anyways, that's our plan.

219

:

That's what's coming up.

220

:

Keep tuning in and keep listening

to episodes are going to be there.

221

:

God willing.

222

:

They will be.

223

:

Yeah.

224

:

I'm learning how to, how to do the things.

225

:

So hopefully they show up.

226

:

I plan for that to be the case.

227

:

And then I'll return the favor when you

take your time away and that's right.

228

:

August and.

229

:

We'll all be good.

230

:

And the show will go on.

231

:

Yeah.

232

:

We'll be square.

233

:

All right.

234

:

Let's jump into our

Bible reading for today.

235

:

Proverbs 27, 28 and 29.

236

:

It's a lot of Proverbs.

237

:

These are the last three of the

Proverbs discovered by Hezekiah, the

238

:

Proverbs of Solomon that has he found

as he was doing his excavations.

239

:

The unreleased deep tracks

of king Solomon's wisdom to.

240

:

Yep.

241

:

Just like that had the, had

the, the beat and everything.

242

:

Uh, 27, 1 do not boast about tomorrow for

you do not know what a day may bring that

243

:

should maybe be familiar and familiar.

244

:

If you've been to James chapter four.

245

:

Uh, James chapter four says

pretty much the same thing.

246

:

Hey, be careful about saying tomorrow.

247

:

We're going to go do is such and such.

248

:

Cause you don't know

what tomorrow may bring.

249

:

So.

250

:

Life is a mist in a vapor.

251

:

Yeah.

252

:

Have you heard James called the

Proverbs in the new Testament?

253

:

I have heard that.

254

:

Yeah.

255

:

Yeah, because he's so

proverbial in his approach.

256

:

And I think it's a very fitting title.

257

:

Yeah.

258

:

I like him.

259

:

I would agree.

260

:

Are you going to preach us through James?

261

:

At some point, I would

imagine maybe after John.

262

:

Yeah, I want to go to an epistle

after John, I think for sure.

263

:

James would be good.

264

:

James Joel.

265

:

The narrative is James

and a pistol in your mind?

266

:

Yeah.

267

:

Yeah.

268

:

Yeah, let's do all the J's.

269

:

Jane.

270

:

Let's not.

271

:

Yeah.

272

:

I mean, eventually I'd love to be

able to say I've preached through

273

:

the entirety of the word of God.

274

:

That's the goal, right?

275

:

Um, The last.

276

:

God will be keeping me alive.

277

:

That'll be my Sunday school.

278

:

And I'll have nothing left

and he'll be like, it's time.

279

:

It's time now.

280

:

It's time.

281

:

In your eighties and then I'll

finish song of Solomon and

282

:

he'll take me at that moment.

283

:

Okay.

284

:

I go.

285

:

Okay.

286

:

Thank you.

287

:

Alright.

288

:

Yeah.

289

:

How about verse six?

290

:

Faithful are the wounds of a friend.

291

:

Profuse are the kisses of an enemy.

292

:

Hold on, go back to verse five.

293

:

I think that's a pair.

294

:

Okay.

295

:

Better's open, rebuke than hidden love.

296

:

There we go fateful or the winds

were friend profuse are the kids.

297

:

I think those go together.

298

:

I don't think you could say it's like

peanut butter and jelly right there.

299

:

Yeah.

300

:

Yeah.

301

:

What does that mean?

302

:

It's better to openly.

303

:

Rebuke someone.

304

:

Um, then to hide your life.

305

:

I'm just talking to the versa.

306

:

And okay.

307

:

Let, let let's, let's use some

common vernacular here and it's

308

:

more faithful for a friend of wounds

you than for an enemy to kiss you.

309

:

That's a really good commentary.

310

:

Usually that's.

311

:

So that's divine, bro.

312

:

That is divine.

313

:

So I just think that what you have

here is it's better to stab someone

314

:

in the front than in the back.

315

:

If I'm going to, if I'm going to

say something about you, I should

316

:

not go tell Kelly and mark and

Amanda and Josh and Luke and Annie.

317

:

And salmon, John, I should tell you.

318

:

I should tell you in your face.

319

:

Uh, a good friend, a real friend will stab

you in the front because they love you.

320

:

Not because they're angry or that they're

vindictive for this or that reason.

321

:

But that's what the fateful

wound of a friend does.

322

:

A friend is willing to get in your

face for the right reasons or an

323

:

enemy will only tell you happy things.

324

:

They will.

325

:

We'll say things that are complimentary

and maybe even to some degree true.

326

:

A flatterer is good at flattery.

327

:

Not because they're making things

up, but because they say things

328

:

that resonate with you, like, oh,

I think I kind of am good at that.

329

:

Right.

330

:

Thank you.

331

:

I think I do look good in

that shirt or whatever it is.

332

:

But a flatterer is only good to

get a part of your heart and to

333

:

ultimately, uh, exercise some kind of

manipulation, whatever the end goal is.

334

:

It's hard to know sometimes, but a friend

isn't about that or friends going to

335

:

get in your grill because they love you.

336

:

And that's ultimately, I think

the test of a true friend.

337

:

Yeah.

338

:

What would you say about that PPG?

339

:

I would agree, man.

340

:

And so if you have friends out

there that just encourage you

341

:

all day long, get rid of them.

342

:

That's not what I was saying, bro.

343

:

No, no, that's not what I was saying.

344

:

No.

345

:

That's good.

346

:

Yeah.

347

:

When you talked about

this yesterday, right?

348

:

Yeah.

349

:

A good friend can have a powerful impact.

350

:

Yeah, for sure.

351

:

But isn't it true though,

but rebuke done right.

352

:

Is actually endearing a hundred percent.

353

:

It's like, oh yeah, man.

354

:

I thank you.

355

:

I love you for that enables

you to trust that person.

356

:

Totally.

357

:

Which might seem counterintuitive,

but enables you to trust them.

358

:

And it actually makes their

kind words even more impactful.

359

:

Right.

360

:

Because you know that they're

not afraid to tell you.

361

:

Yeah.

362

:

Yeah.

363

:

So I agreed a hundred percent.

364

:

Um, in agreement with that.

365

:

Yeah.

366

:

Which is in keeping with verse 17, iron

sharpens iron as one man sharpens another.

367

:

That's part of that process, right?

368

:

The process of iron sharpening

iron is a violent process.

369

:

There's a there's tension.

370

:

There's friction.

371

:

There's there's.

372

:

Pieces being knocked off of.

373

:

One or the other.

374

:

And that is the relationship of two

brothers who are doing verse six.

375

:

Well, um, who are not afraid

to, to stab you in the front

376

:

or two sisters or two sisters.

377

:

Yeah.

378

:

Yeah.

379

:

Yeah.

380

:

Other D did I skip over any

verses you wanted to hit on?

381

:

Uh, no.

382

:

Well, okay.

383

:

Yes.

384

:

Verse 14, whoever blesses his neighbor

with a loud voice rising early in the

385

:

morning will be counted as cursing.

386

:

Uh, the right thing at the

wrong time is the wrong thing.

387

:

Yeah.

388

:

I think that's the wisdom

of scripture right there.

389

:

And I think that's not that I think

anyone does that necessarily on

390

:

purpose, but there are some people

that, you know, they're too perky

391

:

and too excited for the time of day.

392

:

It is.

393

:

Or you think about your neighbors that

played the loud music until nine 30?

394

:

No, that that's.

395

:

Well, No.

396

:

No, I was, I wasn't thinking about them.

397

:

So I do this to my kids.

398

:

Sometimes in the morning, I will

wake them up boisterously, uh, rise

399

:

and shine and give God the glory.

400

:

Yeah, that kind of thing, because

it's like, okay, it's time to get up.

401

:

And greet the day.

402

:

And I tend to throw in old English

words in there just to make it.

403

:

Fun.

404

:

Oh, well, maybe you need

to apply Proverbs 27, 14.

405

:

They would probably agree with you.

406

:

Yeah.

407

:

How about verse 19 as in

water face reflects face?

408

:

So the heart of man reflects the man.

409

:

That's profound.

410

:

Yeah.

411

:

Deep, but we might talk

about a mirror, right?

412

:

You looking at a mirror and

the mirror reflects that your

413

:

face, what you truly look like.

414

:

So the heart, your heart

reflects who you truly are.

415

:

It's basically what he's saying in

verse 19 there, similar to what we find

416

:

in, again, Jesus words, sermon on the

Mount, talking about what, uh, what.

417

:

Yeah.

418

:

What truly defines a person or when he's

talking about what defiles a person is

419

:

not what goes in, but what comes out.

420

:

Um, because that is indicative of

the true person, the true identity.

421

:

Here's something that resonates with

me right now, uh, verses 23, 3 27.

422

:

I just to summarize here.

423

:

Um, Prepare for lien days?

424

:

No.

425

:

Well, the condition of your flocks

give attention to your hurts

426

:

or riches do not last forever.

427

:

And does a crown endure to all

generations that is there always

428

:

going to be one king or one president?

429

:

Per se.

430

:

When the grass is gone and the new

growth appears and the vegetation

431

:

of the mountains has gathered, the

lambs will provide your clothing and

432

:

the goats, the price of the field.

433

:

There will be enough goats milk for

your food and for the food of your

434

:

household and maintenance for your girls.

435

:

Uh, long story short, I think.

436

:

Uh, wisdom dictates that you be.

437

:

I guess somewhat frugal and

taking care of your, your life and

438

:

thinking conservatively and saying

I better put money aside because

439

:

we don't have flocks and herds.

440

:

And in this current economy,

At least not, not us.

441

:

Anyway, most of us don't have that.

442

:

So you ought to be wise enough to

put money aside and save her any day.

443

:

Essentially.

444

:

I think that's kind of the tenor

and the gist that I got from them.

445

:

Anything that you saw from that?

446

:

Nope.

447

:

I.

448

:

I agree with your sentiments on it.

449

:

I think it's good.

450

:

Proverbs 28 1, the wicked flee

when no one pursues, but the

451

:

righteous are bold as a lion.

452

:

That's awesome.

453

:

It's not talking about running.

454

:

Thankfully, this is talking about.

455

:

The fear, right?

456

:

The wicked flee when no one pursues it.

457

:

In other words, They're paranoid.

458

:

They're.

459

:

There it is again, just same

wavelength, Pam at night.

460

:

But the righteous are bold as a lion.

461

:

The righteous are not going

to run no matter what, even

462

:

when somebody perceives them.

463

:

So that's a, an encouragement

to us to, to trust in the Lord.

464

:

What, uh, what.

465

:

What a great gift to have

a clear conscience though.

466

:

I think that's part of

what's happening here.

467

:

I don't have to be afraid.

468

:

Yep.

469

:

I'm not afraid of the

police knocking at my door.

470

:

Cause I have nothing to hide.

471

:

Not afraid of the IRS reaching out.

472

:

Cause I haven't cheated on my taxes.

473

:

I'm not afraid of, you know, bad

things, the righteous and afraid of

474

:

bad news because they live faithfully.

475

:

They live Corum day, as you often say,

and that's why we don't have to flee now.

476

:

There's, there's the value of

a good conscience right there.

477

:

I'd encourage you to pursue that.

478

:

Yeah.

479

:

Verse five, the evil notice here can't

comprehend true justice, evil men don't

480

:

understand justice, but those who seek

the Lord to understand it completely.

481

:

This is a.

482

:

Reminder to me and encouragement

to me is I think about.

483

:

The wicked in our society.

484

:

Uh, just listening to the

briefing not long ago, Dr.

485

:

Mueller, who's going to be by the way,

coming to the transform conference.

486

:

Transform conference.org.

487

:

Okay.

488

:

Okay.

489

:

Good.

490

:

Uh, he was talking about.

491

:

Just the, the heavy push that the

Democrats are making specifically on

492

:

the, the abortion rights side of things.

493

:

And, and sometimes when people are

so adamant and they'll celebrate

494

:

laws being passed that make

abortion easier and everything.

495

:

It causes you to shake your head in, in.

496

:

Just disbelief and yet.

497

:

Part of the reason why is

explained to us here in verse five,

498

:

they don't understand justice.

499

:

The evil can't comprehend.

500

:

Why celebrating the murder of

the unborn should be considered

501

:

something that's wrong or wicked or

on just because they, they don't.

502

:

Understand justice in a

biblical sense of the term.

503

:

I think we would qualify that as being one

of the Noetic effects of the fall and the

504

:

fact that our brains in our fallen state.

505

:

Well, while they can't understand

lots of things, you can get to

506

:

understand art and science and

political philosophies, et cetera.

507

:

There are certain things that

because of our fallen, broken minds.

508

:

That we just can't grasp or that we

will not understand or grasp fully.

509

:

And if we can't understand

them, Roman chapter one applies.

510

:

We may still say, I don't want to

believe that I'm going to suppress

511

:

that truth and righteousness.

512

:

Cause I don't want to submit to that.

513

:

Uh, That standard.

514

:

So there's a lot of factors that

play into this, but just know here

515

:

scripture, it makes it evident.

516

:

God's the one who determines justice.

517

:

Period.

518

:

He determines what justice is.

519

:

And until someone submits to God's

leadership, they're not going to

520

:

ever fully understand justice as

it should be properly applied.

521

:

Yeah.

522

:

Verse nine.

523

:

If one turns away his ear away

from hearing the law, even

524

:

his prayer is an abomination.

525

:

So what I wrote down here just.

526

:

Observance is disobedience

disrupts devotion.

527

:

Um, When we are disobedient to the

Lord, it interrupts our devotion to the

528

:

Lord and it interrupts our prayer life.

529

:

Peter talks about this in the

context of husbands and wives.

530

:

He's.

531

:

Says that husbands need to live with their

wives and to understand standing manner.

532

:

Last year prayers be hindered.

533

:

Uh, and so our sin can interrupt

our fellowship with the Lord and

534

:

disrupt our prayer life as well.

535

:

Verse 23, whoever rebukes a man

will afterward find more favor.

536

:

There you go.

537

:

See, I was just talking about that.

538

:

Then he who flatters with his tongue?

539

:

I just thought that was good

because it reaffirms what we were

540

:

just talking about a couple of

chapters ago or last chapter 27.

541

:

Five is the last chapter.

542

:

Yeah.

543

:

Should we jump to 29.

544

:

Let's do it.

545

:

Okay.

546

:

How about 29, 11.

547

:

A fool gives full vent to his spirits,

but a wise man quietly holds it back.

548

:

You have been attracted

to all these verses.

549

:

I've noticed the theme.

550

:

You liked these verses?

551

:

I think because it convicts

me from who I once was.

552

:

As a younger.

553

:

Younger man.

554

:

The cage stage Calvinist and mailman.

555

:

I think.

556

:

Oh man.

557

:

Um, I think we've all gone through

it, but I just, I just think this is.

558

:

Again, it speaks to self-control.

559

:

It speaks to, you know, self-disciplined.

560

:

To be able to know how to handle

your emotions and know how to

561

:

handle your first instinct.

562

:

If your first instinct

is to lash out in anger.

563

:

I mean th there.

564

:

The situations where

that's appropriate or rare.

565

:

They're not.

566

:

Completely absent.

567

:

There are situations where it is, right?

568

:

Jesus flipping over tables for instance,

or somebody attacks your family.

569

:

Yeah, that's a good time

not to sit back and go.

570

:

I'm going to restraint my anger about.

571

:

Yeah.

572

:

But.

573

:

Th there's it's, it's so good to

be able to learn how to, to control

574

:

and say no to your flesh when your

flesh wants to lash out in anger.

575

:

Indeed.

576

:

Well, speaking of themes, here's a

theme that I've already started and it's

577

:

going to keep beating the drum because

I feel like it's helpful verses 15 and

578

:

17, the rod and reproof give wisdom.

579

:

But a child left to himself brings

shame to his mother verse 17, discipline

580

:

your son, and he will give you rest.

581

:

You will give delight to your heart.

582

:

Uh, so obviously scripture calls us

to spank and discipline our kids.

583

:

Now, but I wanted to bring up here.

584

:

Notice it, the child left himself

bring shame to his mother.

585

:

Again, it doesn't just

mean mom's involved here.

586

:

Obviously dad and mom are involved.

587

:

There's a concreteness to

the Proverbs meant to kind of

588

:

give that sense of balance.

589

:

It's a bit off balance in that sense,

because there's no dad involved

590

:

here, but in verse 17, discipline,

your son will give you rest.

591

:

There's something about

discipline that helps.

592

:

The child learn to control themselves.

593

:

Uh, you're teaching self-control by

your exercising, external control.

594

:

They kind of work hand in hand.

595

:

That's typically how God does that work.

596

:

At least in the heart of young people.

597

:

They'll give delight to your heart

because they'll learn how to conduct

598

:

themselves in public with other people.

599

:

Yeah, I think that's

a good and noble goal.

600

:

Yeah.

601

:

How about verse 20?

602

:

Do you see a man hasty in his words,

there's more hope for a fool than him.

603

:

Don't be hasty to speak.

604

:

Don't be.

605

:

The first one to give

your opinion on a matter.

606

:

Sit back, let other people

weigh in and then answer wisely.

607

:

And then conclude the

conversation with your wise words.

608

:

Sometimes there are people

that are so good at that.

609

:

And that those are helpful people to

have around, except you look at them.

610

:

You're like, could you have not

said that like 10 minutes ago?

611

:

We're all talking.

612

:

Yeah, we get wasted 10

minutes of our time.

613

:

Thanks Josh.

614

:

Yeah.

615

:

Um, yeah.

616

:

Verse 22, a man of wrath stirs up strife,

one given to anger causes transgression,

617

:

just that the repeated theme in the

book of Proverbs on, on not being angry

618

:

people is, uh, is one to notice for sure.

619

:

Twenty-five.

620

:

Yeah.

621

:

Fear of man lays a snare trap.

622

:

But whoever trusts in the Lord.

623

:

The safe, so good.

624

:

Yeah.

625

:

That's an easy one to understand.

626

:

I think no, one's going to jumble over

that one and certainly you shouldn't

627

:

stumble over it, but if push comes

to shove, always, always, uh, err,

628

:

on the side of trusting God and

fearing him rather than fearing man.

629

:

Man we'll pass.

630

:

Man is transient.

631

:

Man is here for one moment gone.

632

:

The next they're like a mist and a vapor.

633

:

God was never going to leave.

634

:

Yeah.

635

:

Therefore you should always err, on

the side of trusting what he says.

636

:

Yep.

637

:

Well, there you go.

638

:

There's another episode of

the daily Bible podcast.

639

:

The last one for two weeks.

640

:

Of just, just us.

641

:

Yeah.

642

:

Now, or yeah, you and me.

643

:

And it's going to be different now.

644

:

Hey, keep it in your Bibles and tune

in tomorrow for the first edition

645

:

of the daily Bible, rod casts.

646

:

What's going to happen, so

we'll see you there, but.
