He was revered by poets such as Wordsworth, Shelley and Coleridge and a romanticised painting depicting his deathbed remains an enduring image of doomed artistic talent.

Nicknamed Bristol’s Shakespeare, Chatterton was the boy poet who died at just 17 years old, having already penned an incredible array of work – from poems and elegies to political letters and satires.

When you consider his young age and what he achieved, this is an amazing story of a young man who sought greatness and to have his work appreciated but ended in despair.
