Nathan:

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Probably Paul. Hebrews 13:5. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 23 of 30 Days of Pushing Back Fear. We humans have a compulsion to collect stuff. More! is the name of our game. And this drive for more is inevitably tied to fear and anxiety. What if I can’t pay for the stuff I’ve got? What if I can’t afford the stuff I want—and keep up with my fav people? There’s a simple answer to that: if you’ve got God’s company, you’ve got everything you really need. Wait, that’s too simple. What about the stuff I really need—I mean, I do have bills that need real money; mouths that need real food—and a body that needs real shelter. How in the world can God be enough—enough that I can stop the worry and live in contentment? This kinda sounds crazy. Maybe even really crazy. Actually, it’s not as crazy as it sounds. See, having God, means you’re connected to the One who really knows how life is meant to work—and the One who cares most deeply for your well-being now—and on into the immeasurable future. If you rest in his care, take your cues from him, it really, actually will be, ok.
