Speaker:Welcome back, my Mesmerizing Marketing Tribe Today, I'm so excited to tell you
Speaker:about the event that I went to today.
Speaker:It was an online event and it was hosted by Canva.
Speaker:If you're not familiar with Canva, you will be by the time
Speaker:you are finished listening to this episode of Mesmerizing Marketing.
Speaker:So today, so they had an event and they also had an online version of
Speaker:this event that we could attend.
Speaker:I'm so glad that I made time to attend this event, even with my busy schedule.
Speaker:And I'm gonna tell you right now, it was absolutely worth it.
Speaker:So what they did today is Canva unveiled.
Speaker:A list of around 10 new AI powered features and tools
Speaker:that are absolutely amazing.
Speaker:I'm gonna be talking about all of the tools today.
Speaker:In this episode, I'm also gonna take you back to a little bit of the history
Speaker:about Canva so you guys can know a little bit more information about
Speaker:this company, because I wouldn't be surprised if there's an IPO for Camp.
Speaker:In the near future, and I have to tell you about the conference first.
Speaker:So before I even get into the details of the nitty gritty, I wanna tell
Speaker:you, my gosh, maybe it's Australia, I don't know, but maybe it's
Speaker:because it's a company that you.
Speaker:Thrives off of creativity.
Speaker:I have to say, the themes that they used for the backdrops,
Speaker:everything was so colorful, their outfits were absolutely amazing.
Speaker:If you follow me on Instagram, I'm gonna be making some reels in the next
Speaker:couple of days that I'll be posting.
Speaker:So you can see some of the clips from the Canva Create event, and I just have
Speaker:to say the speakers were phenomenal.
Speaker:The outfits were so fashionable and so on point, and they really
Speaker:did a great job at telling a story.
Speaker:So, let's dive into some of the exciting new things that they are launching.
Speaker:But before we do, just, to get a little bit of idea about Campbell, let's
Speaker:get into a little bit of the history.
Speaker:So in terms of camp.
Speaker:It's an Australian graphic design platform, and it was founded in
Speaker:2012 by Melanie Perkins, cliff Albright and Cameron Adams.
Speaker:And Melanie was teaching graphic design at the University of Western Australia.
Speaker:She noticed that the students were finding graphic design software challenging to.
Speaker:And this, , letter to develop an idea for a platform that would
Speaker:be easy to use and that could simplify the entire design process.
Speaker:And then in 2010,
Speaker:Melanie and Cliff, they launched something called Fusion Books, which is an online
Speaker:platform for creating yearbooks, and later that served as a foundation for Canva.
Speaker:So after they secured an investment from Silicon Valley investors, which
Speaker:were Bill Tie and Lars Rasmussen, who is the co-founder of Google.
Speaker:Canva officially had its debut launch in 2013, and I also wanna go
Speaker:over some of the factors that have contributed to the success of Canva.
Speaker:So for one, they have an interface that's a drag and drop.
Speaker:interface with so many different templates that you can create different graphic
Speaker:design for social media, different types of sizes you can create, you know, video
Speaker:graphics and design, all that stuff.
Speaker:And one of the things is it's very easy to use.
Speaker:So that's really important.
Speaker:The other part is that they have had a business model that's had a free version.
Speaker:They still have a free version.
Speaker:They also have a paid version.
Speaker:I have the paid version.
Speaker:Absolutely love it.
Speaker:And if you wanna check it out and you wanna get a free trial to
Speaker:the paid version, I'm gonna put my fill link in the show notes.
Speaker:So make sure you use that to try it out for free.
Speaker:But I just have to say I'm blown away with everything that I get in my paid plan.
Speaker:and they continue to add so many things like they just added 10
Speaker:AI tools that are game changers.
Speaker:Absolute game changers.
Speaker:So we're gonna get into that in a little bit.
Speaker:But the other part is that they also have a very extensive library
Speaker:of assets, meaning within Canva there's a ton of stock images.
Speaker:There's so many different fonts, there's a lot of different, you
Speaker:know, templates that you can use.
Speaker:So it just gives you a lot of variety.
Speaker:, to create any kind of graphics that you want.
Speaker:You can create business cards.
Speaker:You can create flyers, you can create eBooks, you can create,
Speaker:you know, videos, you name it.
Speaker:You can probably do it in Canva when it comes to graphic design.
Speaker:Then the other thing is that they also have a strong community and
Speaker:user base, so, . They've done a lot of marketing through word of mouth,
Speaker:but they also are good about engaging with their audience on social media.
Speaker:They also have great support.
Speaker:They provide inspiration.
Speaker:And then the other thing that they've been smart about is making these strategic
Speaker:partnerships with companies like Google.
Speaker:Dropbox, Instagram, and even, you know, they have also acquired
Speaker:smaller companies such as Pexels and p, ay, and I didn't even know
Speaker:that until today doing my research for this episode cuz I use Pexels.
Speaker:And so, that's given Canva the ability to have millions of stock
Speaker:images and videos and that's huge.
Speaker:So now like if you look at Canva today, Canva has over 125 million monthly users
Speaker:and over 13 million paid subscribers.
Speaker:And what's interesting is that the total users have increased by over 40 million
Speaker:since Canva launched its visual work suite.
Speaker:And then you have to hear these numbers.
Speaker:So Campa in terms of their annual revenue, it's 1.4 billion.
Speaker:You heard that right?
Speaker:1.4 billion as of March 1st, 2023, and that is up by more
Speaker:than 40% over the last 12 months.
Speaker:So that is absolutely huge.
Speaker:Then the other thing to note is that they're just gonna
Speaker:continue to grow and grow.
Speaker:So as they're adding these, added features and functionality.
Speaker:More and more people are flocking to this platform because it's a really
Speaker:cost effective way and easy solution for entrepreneurs, business owners, content
Speaker:creators, and podcasters to create content that they can use all across the board.
Speaker:And let's dive into the most exciting part let's talk about what they actually
Speaker:discussed today at the Canva Great event.
Speaker:And you guys can also watch the replay of the event.
Speaker:So I'm gonna put that in the show notes for you guys so you
Speaker:can check it out for yourself.
Speaker:So when I say fashion and their outfits were on point, I mean that.
Speaker:But even though I love fashion, I'm so excited to try it.
Speaker:All of these new amazing AI tools that they just launched
Speaker:within the Canva platform.
Speaker:So I'm gonna go through all 10 of them with.

Speaker:So one of the tools that they created is called Brand Hub.
Speaker:So Brand Hub is amazing because let's say you are a social media manager, in
Speaker:Brand Hub put different brand criteria in terms of like brand colors, brand
Speaker:logos, brand fonts for a particular brand so that every time you're creating
Speaker:content for that particular brand, you can just go to incorporate what
Speaker:you have in brand hub for that brand.
Speaker:And you don't have to redo all this work every time for changing the brand colors
Speaker:and finding the logo and, and all of that.
Speaker:And that's absolutely amazing.
Speaker:So another amazing tool that they've added is called Discover Translate,
Speaker:and that allows you to translate your text in your designs to over
Speaker:a hundred different languages.
Speaker:And this is amazing because they are really catering to this being
Speaker:a solution for users worldwide.
Speaker:And that's amazing because we need to have solutions that are inclusive of everyone.
Speaker:So I absolutely love that they have that.
Speaker:then one of my favorite, features is called Magic Write, and Magic Wright
Speaker:is an AI powered writing assistant.
Speaker:A little bit similar to chat G P T, . So it allows you to put in
Speaker:prompts and it's gonna generate content based off of those prompts.
Speaker:And what's cool is that they have expanded this feature.
Speaker:Now it's not just magic, right?
Speaker:It's magic right everywhere.
Speaker:So you can use it all across the board.
Speaker:For Campa and not just in one little aspect, which was in
Speaker:docs before, like documents.
Speaker:It's gonna be like all across the board.
Speaker:That is one I'm super excited about because if you want to get content
Speaker:for quotes and you're making a bunch of quotes for social media,
Speaker:You can do that right within Canva.
Speaker:Now, if you wanna get answers about the history of something, or you want
Speaker:to take some content, you need it to be rephrased or you need it to be
Speaker:more concise, you can do that within Canva in their tool called Magic.
Speaker:Right?
Speaker:And now it's Magic right?
Speaker:Everywhere.
Speaker:Now the next thing I'm gonna talk about, it's called.
Speaker:Magic, edit and eraser.
Speaker:So this is really, really cool too because what it can do is if you have
Speaker:a photo and you have something in the background and you want to either, you
Speaker:know, erase something that's in your image, you can brush over it right?
Speaker:and you can delete that.
Speaker:The other thing is you can also replace, what's in your image , with something
Speaker:else that you wanna put in there instead.
Speaker:So this is, amazing and you also can type what you want it to create.
Speaker:So let's say that you want to delete something.
Speaker:Let's say you had a flower.
Speaker:That was a dandelion, and instead you wanna replace it with a rose, you can,
Speaker:you can highlight that to delete it, and you can say that you want it to create
Speaker:a red rose and it's gonna do that.
Speaker:So, loving it, loving it, loving it.
Speaker:The other tool that I think is so amazing to use is for your presentations.
Speaker:So the other great tool that they have is for your presentations and
Speaker:it's called Magic presentation.
Speaker:So you can literally create an amazing looking presentation and basically you
Speaker:can just describe your idea in a few words and you can see how it's going to fill the
Speaker:slides with the story that you wanna tell.
Speaker:It's also gonna help you with your creativity, and this is amazing because
Speaker:it can create presentations together that are on brand, that are well put
Speaker:together, that are really eye-catching and captivating to mesmerize your audience.
Speaker:And sometimes you need that amazing presentation to close the deal
Speaker:or to convey something at work or even in your business when
Speaker:you're making that big pitch.
Speaker:Try out Magic Design.
Speaker:You're gonna love it for presentations as well.
Speaker:Another new feature that they added.
Speaker:It's called Play With Draw.
Speaker:. So this feature, it really allows you to be creative because it's
Speaker:more about freehand drawing.
Speaker:You can pick a different size, like pen or marker to write with, and you
Speaker:can basically sketch out your ideas.
Speaker:Sometimes you just need a space to brainstorm your ideas, even if
Speaker:you are visualizing how you want, let's say an infographic to look,
Speaker:you can draw it out and you can convey your idea and then you can.
Speaker:Transform simple shapes like circles and rectangles into fast thoughts and
Speaker:flow charts and mind maps, and it's amazing to use within teams as well to
Speaker:collaborate on different ideas when you're trying to explain who does what at the
Speaker:organization, who's gonna be responsible for handling what on a particular project.
Speaker:. So definitely check out.
Speaker:Play with draw.
Speaker:The next one I'm gonna tell you guys about is magic design.
Speaker:This is amazing.
Speaker:So what you do is you can upload an image, right?
Speaker:And it's gonna allow you to save time by previewing multiple custom templates.
Speaker:So you're gonna see which template that you want to see, and it's gonna give you a
Speaker:bunch of different examples of posts that it's created based on different templates.
Speaker:And this way you can even get multiple visuals.
Speaker:Let's say you wanna promote an event and now you don't just have one,
Speaker:you may have five different visuals created that you can promote and
Speaker:you can put into your Instagram stories or you can share on Facebook.
Speaker:So absolutely magic design.
Speaker:I think it's super, super cool.
Speaker:Definitely check that out as.
Speaker:In this one I was really impressed by, it's called Create an Animation.
Speaker:It allows you to create your own animation to bring your story to life.
Speaker:You can drag your elements across the screen to record the path and watch them.
Speaker:Literally come to life in an instant.
Speaker:And that's so cool to use for videos because you could, you can overlay your
Speaker:videos with these little animated objects.
Speaker:Like you could have a little snowman going across, or you could have a
Speaker:football, or you could have a social media icon for like a phone going across.
Speaker:And I think that's what it's gonna take to create content that
Speaker:really stands out and it's gonna.
Speaker:super engaging because that's not something you see all the
Speaker:time is animations moving around.
Speaker:Some videos may have them, but the people also paid other people either hundreds
Speaker:of dollars to create that are either, they spend a lot of time creating them,
Speaker:and with this it's as simple as, in a few seconds you can create an animation.
Speaker:So definitely try out, create an animation feature for
Speaker:yourself and see if you like it.
Speaker:Now here's one that I was surprised to see but super excited
Speaker:about is edit with Beat Sync.
Speaker:So what this does is it allows you to take your video footage and
Speaker:your soundtrack and it's going to automatically sync your footage.
Speaker:to the video in terms of the beats and there's gonna be, you know, music
Speaker:you can pick from within campus.
Speaker:Royalty free music library are.
Speaker:If you have your own music that you have paid for and have a license to use,
Speaker:you can obviously put that in as well.
Speaker:And again, this is a game changer to create content.
Speaker:Things like reels and YouTube videos.
Speaker:Again, we're talking about content that's really engaging, that's captivating.
Speaker:And I can tell you guys, I'm sure these are just some of the things
Speaker:they've come up with right now.
Speaker:I have a feeling if you come back in two months, they're gonna have
Speaker:so many other tools added that are all ai and they can do so many other
Speaker:things because this is just the.
Speaker:But they did such an amazing job because they launched so many great tools and I
Speaker:can see how a lot of people who weren't even using Canva before are totally
Speaker:going to want to check it out now.
Speaker:I mean, I've been a Canva user for so many years, I have to
Speaker:say, like I absolutely love it.
Speaker:I love it, but I'm more in love with Canva now after getting
Speaker:to know more about the brand.
Speaker:Cuz I didn't really know the history, I didn't know about the founders,
Speaker:I didn't know their stories, I didn't know, you know, the type
Speaker:of management that they have.
Speaker:And I can just tell that everyone who works there is super passionate
Speaker:about what they're doing.
Speaker:I think they're also very innovative and I think that they wanna bring
Speaker:cutting edge, technology and.
Speaker:To everyday people so that they can create amazing stories and amazing
Speaker:content and, you know, they can spread the word and they can also participate in
Speaker:things that are gonna help the community and, you know, support great causes.
Speaker:And that's what they're all about.
Speaker:So I think that's absolutely amazing.
Speaker:All right, so the other tool I want to tell you guys about
Speaker:is, it's called Text to Image.
Speaker:So with text to.
Speaker:, you can think about an idea just like you would if you've used , mid
Speaker:journey then you'll know what I'm talking about with text to image.
Speaker:So you can type in the, you wanna.
Speaker:, a Persian cat with a blue collar on, and it's going to create an image based on
Speaker:your words, based on your instructions, and that's amazing because now you can
Speaker:create a lot of custom artwork to use.
Speaker:On your website, in your blog post, in your social media.
Speaker:And because it's created based on your prompt, it's not gonna look like
Speaker:something that's out there that everyone else is already using from stock images.
Speaker:And to me, I love that because that gives you the ability to be more
Speaker:creative and that is a game changer.
Speaker:All right, so if you haven't tried Canva yourself, I don't know what
Speaker:you're waiting for, but I am gonna be spending some time geeking out on
Speaker:it this weekend and really playing around with a lot of these features cuz
Speaker:some of these they just added today.
Speaker:And honestly like I can't wait to try 'em out.
Speaker:I think it's absolutely amazing.
Speaker:And when you're in Canva, they have a bunch of tutorials
Speaker:as well that you can watch.
Speaker:They have a ton of templates and, you know, just all these new
Speaker:features make it super amazing.
Speaker:They have, docs in there, they have whiteboard.
Speaker:You can search by the type of posts that you want to create.
Speaker:So if you wanna create Instagram story post, you can type that
Speaker:in and it's automatically going to give you templates for that.
Speaker:It's gonna give you the right size dimensions.
Speaker:You can create ads for magazines.
Speaker:You can create your resume newsletter, even websites.
Speaker:And like, if you think about.
Speaker:On, like people use Link Tree for, you know, putting it on
Speaker:their Instagram and stuff.
Speaker:Well, you can create something similar to a link tree and for all your
Speaker:content creators, you can create your content, portfolio , and a page that
Speaker:is showing people your U G C content so that you can get more brand deals.
Speaker:So I hope you enjoyed this episode.

Speaker:I'm blown away by their management and just their history of how
Speaker:they've built up this company.
