An anterior crossbite or underbite is the result of the jaws being out of alignment. When the lower jaw protrudes over the upper jaw, one or more upper front teeth may enclose inside the lower teeth, resulting in this oral disease. Due to the wrong relationship between the two dental arches, when they come together, it may result in a variety of dental problems, such as early tooth deterioration, difficulty chewing, cavities, and other dental concerns.
The ideal time for wearing orthodontic appliances is while the jaws are still developing. Adults who have an underbite, however, can be successfully addressed. When the upper jaw closes just a little bit before the lower jaw, teeth can be properly aligned into an occlusion. Depending on how severe your disease is, it can be necessary to have surgery in some circumstances.
