Our guest on the podcast this week is Laurie Copithorne, Laurie is the Founder and Executive Strategist of Food for Health. As a registered dietitian working in the food industry for three decades, she has led many global food and nutrition policy initiatives. Today, Laurie focuses on solving childhood hunger right here in the U.S. With over 50 million Americans, including 17 million children going to bed hungry, she has launched a groundbreaking Four-Point Plan calling for the Biden-Harris Administration to think beyond the pandemic to end childhood hunger.

Today she shares openly her passion for nutrition and healthy food, from what consumers need to know to the systemic changes needed in the industry. Laurie shares some shocking statistics about the widespread hunger in the US, from children to adults, how the distribution of food is inequitable and she asks the critical question: “We have more than enough food to go around, why can’t we get food into the hands of the people who need it?”. It is clear Laurie wants to be a guiding force in helping to make the solution a reality.

Listen in as we discuss so many different aspects of our food supply, how awareness is growing following the pandemic, and how this gives us some real opportunities to make a difference today. Laurie shares her 4 point plan for getting more food into the hands of Americans and the growing readiness for these changes at all levels of society.
