In creation of something from something you don't need to hold on to the new creation. In creating some thing from nothing, the nothing has to constantly fuel the something so that it stays in existence. The proof: When Hashem split the sea the verse says שהוליך ה׳ ברוח קדים עזה כל הלילה ויבקעו המים ונצבו כמו נד וכחומה if the wind would stop the water would cave in. How much more do with creation of the world. Since: By the water the effect was just in the nature of the water not the essence however in creation of the world the דבר ה׳ creates the essence of the world & needs to be consistently supported to exist. That is the definition of ואתה all the letters from א to ת & the ה מוצואת הפה. The existence & life force of everything (נמצא & the מהות) is from G-D as such the utterance of G-D create & infuse life into everything thru the decent & internalization into the being via the G-Dly energy into this materialistic world.
