Bill Betts:So without further ado, let's get going.
Host:Excellent.
Host:Welcome, everyone and welcome to.
Host:To Alex and Laura.
Host:Thank you for joining us.
Host:Thank you for spending some time.
Host:Alex and Laura are the owners of Tilly and Family and we're going to be discussing what TM family do.
Host:So welcome both of you.
Host:How are you?
Alex:All good.
Alex:Family?
Host:All good.
Host:Where are you actually based your day?
Host:In Dorset, is that right?
Laura:Yes, North Dorset.
Laura:So Stemit's Newton, which is near Gillingham.
Alex:So yeah, he's awful, but yeah, Sharksbury.
Host:Yes, definitely, definitely.
Host:So owners of Tillian Family, which is a shampoo, natural shampoo company, perhaps you're here to tell us all about it.
Host:It's good for groomers, good for the dog owners.
Host:So we wanted to find out a bit more about your, your story and a bit more about the shampoos and the products that you offer so you can start spreading the word amongst the.
Host:The grooming community.
Host:Where'd you start?
Host:Where'd you start?
Laura:Okay, so we, we did start a few years ago and we started it as a liquid shampoo and yeah, we wanted to do it basically to educate dog owners because everybody was buying a dog in Covid and we just wanted to, you know, make it more educational and so we started as a liquid shampoo.
Laura:We got pretty burnt with it because you can't make a natural organic shampoo.
Alex:We like to.
Laura:Yeah, and cost us an awful lot of money because, yeah, you got to have a chemical preservative in it to obviously to keep it.
Alex:Yeah, we make it liquid.
Alex:Yeah, essentially.
Laura:So then we.
Laura:We've got burnt.
Laura:We stepped back away from it for a good year or more and we were like, no, it's such a good idea.
Laura:We do want to do it.
Laura:We explored lots of different options and we came up with a shampoo bar.
Laura:So we did a few courses and yeah, the shampoo bars and.
Laura:Yeah, so we wanted to make it.
Laura:We wanted to do it and.
Laura:And then for the last, probably 18 months we've been out live, which is brilliant, and we do loads of shows and stores and we sell online as well.
Laura:But it's mostly, mostly.
Laura:Well, we do it face to face more than anything because we're, we're learning the social media side of things.
Laura:Yeah, that's a lot harder than I thought.
Laura:That's the hardest Part, I think, actually the social media side.
Alex:Our aid.
Alex:Yes.
Alex:I'm a dinosaur.
Host:What's the inspiration for?
Host:Because you, you know, were you in the pet industry before this?
Alex:No.
Alex:Willie.
Host:Tilly was your.
Host:Who's Tilly then?
Host:Tell us about.
Alex:Tilly was my.
Alex:My Labrador.
Alex:My first pet I ever had.
Alex:I was petrified of animals.
Alex:Wouldn't even go into a house if there was a goldfish.
Alex:Didn't understand the animal world at all.
Alex:Christmas, how long ago?
Alex:Tilly.
Alex:Tilly went doggy heaven five years ago.
Alex:So she was.
Alex:22 years ago, my family take me to what I thought was Christmas party.
Alex:It wasn't.
Alex:It was a.
Alex:Like a.
Alex:A barn on the side of a farm and with puppies everywhere.
Alex:I go into a cold sweat.
Alex:I'm like, why am I here?
Alex:I was taken in by.
Alex:By the hand, by the lady, by the breeder, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Alex:So I can't do this, and I'm not going to have a dog.
Alex:Not going to have a dog.
Alex:And she said, well, tough, tough, whatever on you.
Alex:Because Tilly has just sat in your trainer, so she's chosen you.
Host:Oh, I see you got Tilly there, sitting in your trainer.
Host:Yeah.
Alex:And we make a puppy shampoo.
Alex:Well, I make the puppy shampoo, which is after her as well.
Alex:So we just made that now a puppy one, which is very soft with rose and bergamot, the oils, which.
Alex:Which are good.
Alex:Great for puppies.
Alex:Yes.
Alex:So.
Alex:And then I basically, because I've never had a pet, Tilly and I became inseparable.
Alex:And I wanted to care for her in every way that I could and I could.
Alex:In every way, apart from the fact that she was addicted to rolling in fox and badger and sheep and giraffe and rhino poo.
Alex:And I couldn't find anything to get it out until she was a lot older when I discovered that activated charcoal will do that.
Alex:And then.
Alex:And she went upstairs to doggy heaven.
Alex:Laura and I met, and Laura was like, it's a great idea.
Alex:Yeah, let's try and make it in that way.
Alex:Like we said with the liquid shampoo, it couldn't be done.
Alex:We would like you.
Alex:Blah, blah, blah, blah, Laura.
Alex:I went off to do a course, and we came up with the.
Alex:The pioneering shampoo bar.
Alex:So you have charcoal on the bottom, the oil's on the top.
Alex:So you rub with.
Alex:You put the glove.
Host:It's like an exfoliating mitt sauce, radiating mitts.
Alex:You see, you wet the glove, wet the bar, put the charcoal in to the grime and the muck Rub it in, pull it out, flip it over and you rub it and it's nourishing, comforting and all natural goodness.
Alex:Bill, did you do.
Host:You didn't rinse that off because.
Host:Yes, like I said, you're solving a problem that we've actually got today because we took our Labrador down to the yard to see the horses, and whilst we were picking up the poo, the Labrador was promptly rolling in the poo and the.
Host:So we have actually brought home a very smelly Labrador.
Alex:One's in the post, Bill.
Host:One's in the post.
Host:The pet grooming salon is not open at the moment, so.
Host:And we're cooking dinner for the kids.
Host:So, you know, what do we do?
Host:I've Hose her off.
Host:She doesn't like that, obviously, because it's freezing cold.
Host:I don't want to get my feet wet and like, get those, like you said, very liquid.
Host:And drag out the.
Host:The pet grooming shampoos from the shop.
Host:So this is the solution by essentially.
Laura:Well, it is.
Laura:And also it's so good because you can just do a spot wash.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:You know, you can literally just.
Alex:You don't have to wash the whole dog to get the muck off.
Alex:You see, that was the one thing with Tilly that I, you know, I was.
Alex:I would use the hose.
Alex:It was a big dog, and I'd use the hose and I used to.
Alex:Then you get completely wet and then you have to.
Laura:Yeah, and it was also.
Laura:It does solve a lot of problems and lots of people are saying that they can't, you know, pick up their dog to put a dog in the bath or whatever, you know, and I appreciate that.
Laura:But it's.
Laura:Yeah, it's a really, really good shampoo.
Laura:It just rinses off nice and easily.
Alex:And then you see, you've got a little bag as well, so all the kit, it says, stays together.
Alex:So even when you're on walks and stuff, if, you know, if you're.
Alex:You're out and about, it works with Cold War water as well.
Alex:I've formulated it so you don't need it lukewarm.
Alex:It will lather up and it will be with cold as well.
Alex:A lot of, as you know, a lot of soaps or shampoo bars.
Alex:If it's cold, they won't lather.
Alex:You know, it has to be warm.
Alex:But this works when it's cold, so it's perfect for a patch wash, you see, before the dog jumps into the car, because there's nothing worse than if they're covered and they jump into the back seat.
Alex:And then you're like, oh, there we go.
Alex:Need the valet to come around and sort my car out as well.
Host:That's the first thing.
Host:That's the first things the kids said when they got in the van this evening was like, oh, well, she rolled him.
Alex:Exactly.
Alex:Yeah.
Alex:No issue whether it's rank.
Alex:Yeah.
Alex:I don't know why.
Alex:And I've looked into it and I've tried to find out why they do it.
Alex:Some people say it's instinct, some people say it's to disguise themselves.
Alex:Themselves, you know, but then it doesn't really make sense when it's sheep because sheep are really a threat to them.
Alex:And some of the fox with a sheep.
Alex:But they love it.
Alex:I just.
Alex:Yeah, it's one of the mysteries of the dog world.
Host:Yeah.
Host:And some dogs do it and some dogs just don't do that.
Alex:No.
Host:It's funny, we got five and probably two out of five will actually roll in.
Host:In all the sort of dogs and.
Alex:But you find you can't stop them.
Alex:Like, you know, it doesn't matter how well trained they are, if they sense it, they just go.
Alex:And then they need it.
Host:And then, like, moving forward, like you were saying about putting your dog in the bath.
Host:We.
Host:We didn't put a shower above our bath, so we can't even do that.
Host:We can't even shower it off.
Host:So at charcoal.
Alex:What.
Host:What is it about charcoal that that helps this?
Host:Is this a secret ingredient or is it?
Alex:I mean, no, it's not.
Alex:It's.
Alex:It's nature's best expo exfoliant.
Laura:Yeah.
Alex:My late dad, if he was.
Alex:He was live.
Alex:He'd been 91.
Alex:He grew.
Alex:He lived through the war and he used to brush his teeth in charcoal.
Alex:There always used to be charcoal at home.
Alex:And obviously we.
Alex:We found it funny as a kid to brush your teeth because it was all black, like the, you know, blackjack, you know, those sweets and stuff.
Alex:But I never really used it.
Alex:And then I suddenly thought, ah, well, maybe that would be the solution because it's natural.
Alex:You say it's all natural and it works.
Alex:It works.
Alex:A dream.
Alex:I mean, a lady came up to me in Coventry at a.
Alex:Was it a groom fest?
Alex:And she actually came up and she's all emotional because, you've changed my life.
Alex:You've changed my life.
Alex:I think it's amazing.
Alex:She used to find it so difficult with some owners who just don't wash their dogs at all.
Alex:Yeah.
Alex:And they would come in each two weeks and they'd have fox and badgery matted into their fur.
Alex:And she said with the glove and with, and with the charcoal, it just strips it, you see.
Alex:And also the shampoo bar, it lasts so much longer than a traditional bottle of shampoo.
Alex:So if a dog is particularly mucky, a groomer will use a huge amount of liquid shampoo on a dirty dog.
Alex:Whereas with that it self replicates.
Alex:So once it's on the fur, it frosts and frosts and frosts.
Alex:You can get right in to all the grime.
Alex:But the groomers, they love it, you know, they just think it's a life saver.
Alex:Save some time.
Laura:Money.
Alex:Money.
Alex:Less water.
Laura:Yeah.
Bill Betts:This podcast is sponsored by Low Pay.
Bill Betts:Low pay is half the price of.
Host:Sum up and zettle.
Bill Betts:So you keep more of the money that you earn.
Bill Betts:Rate start at 0.79%.
Host:So it's like use that, use that bar to get rid of the, the dirty stuff, the poo and then.
Host:And chuck them in the bath for the, for the, the final wash sort of thing.
Alex:Yeah, yeah.
Laura:Oh no, definitely.
Laura:It's a good, it doesn't just obviously get rid of fox poo and stuff.
Laura:It's a brilliant all round shampoo.
Laura:There's one thing that people do say to us is it lasts so long.
Laura:So we have actually made some of the bars a bit smaller because people a year down the line just haven't even bought a section.
Alex:What?
Alex:Well, I'll show, I'll show you the size of what we made room as.
Host:Yeah, it's not.
Host:Yeah, maybe it's not the best business decision to make a product that lives, lasts a lifetime.
Alex:Look, we're very kind people, Bill, and we wanted to give everyone the benefits.
Alex:But, but you know, we need to pay our rent.
Alex:You know what I mean?
Alex:So that was the, that's the size of a groomer's bar.
Alex:Yeah, you see, which will obviously be used a lot more.
Alex:A groomer will use that for a proper groom.
Laura:But these ones, but they still do about 20 washes.
Host:Oh, yes.
Laura:You know, it's this bar.
Alex:So this is what the owners buy, which is this size and that's the groomers bar.
Alex:Yes.
Host:This is about a third of us.
Laura:Yeah, yeah.
Host:A third bigger, isn't it?
Host:Third.
Host:So you had the idea and obviously you went down the liquid shampoo route and that didn't work out.
Host:So how did you.
Host:You gave it a break for a year.
Host:But how did you come across the, the idea of having a solid, A solid, A solid shampoo?
Host:Were you like.
Laura:Yeah, I kept looking because I didn't know if it was.
Laura:We would just been stitched up by that particular supplier.
Laura:So we went down lots of different routes.
Laura:We met up with a bunch of different suppliers as they were going to make it for ourselves.
Laura:You know, we went all the way up to Suffolk and various other places.
Alex:Yeah, Norfolk as well.
Laura:Norfolk.
Laura:And.
Laura:But they couldn't make it completely natural.
Laura:And 99% natural is not natural.
Laura:Do you know what I mean?
Alex:So I'm conned, but I mean, people.
Laura:So in the end, I was like, we need to make it ourselves to make sure that we know what's going in it.
Laura:Because lots of people as well, you know, they might put an ingredients list of like 10, 20, 30 different things, but the Latin names or the other different names so then they can pretend it's natural or whatever.
Laura:Do you know what I mean?
Laura:So we just wanted to make it ourselves.
Laura:And in the end I was like, shampoo bar, you know, it's.
Laura:Why not?
Laura:So we were, we trained, we did a few courses and yeah, is so much better because we can do it ourselves rather than.
Laura:And also we do a mix process.
Laura:We don't just do a cold press or hot press, which is on this, on the shampoo, the soap either, which way of calling it.
Laura:And we kind of do a blended approach and.
Laura:Which is, yeah, brilliant.
Laura:So it's.
Laura:Yeah, with the activated charcoal is a game changer.
Alex:And also as well, we do the.
Alex:We do four different shampoo bars and the oils in.
Alex:In them offer, how do I say, different properties.
Alex:Different properties and, and, you know, different skill sets, if you know what I mean.
Alex:So we have a lavender and rosemary one, which is the relaxing one, but.
Laura:Also rosemary is fantastic for their coat.
Alex:Their coat, yeah.
Laura:You know, so.
Laura:And then the rose and vanilla.
Laura:I mean, rose is just amazing.
Laura:That's really good for anxious dogs.
Laura:And even.
Laura:Well, even if we're feeling a bit anxious.
Alex:Yes, we smell this.
Laura:Honestly, it's incredible because the rose is just.
Laura:Oh, my God.
Alex:It's like we do these ones.
Alex:Look, I'll show you.
Alex:And people put them in there.
Alex:We do, yeah.
Alex:Wow.
Laura:I mean, some, some, some, some people have actually bought the shampoo.
Laura:They, they bought it to use, obviously.
Laura:And then one lady's got one in, in the porch because she loves the smell of it.
Laura:And one in the car and it was like, you know, should we do.
Alex:These little paws, little cute paws there as like sample ones and loads of the grooms, they keep them in, in, in the handbags.
Alex:Does the handbag smell great?
Host:What other flavor?
Host:I Don't think flavors the right names, but what other sort of scents do you do?
Alex:So lavender and rosemary, which obviously everyone.
Laura:Bestseller is the bergamot and lemongrass, which is the green one, that's butters.
Laura:Everybody loves bergamot.
Alex:Everybody loves it.
Alex:But that one is particularly great.
Alex:We invented that, that one because that keeps away ticks, flies, midges.
Alex:Yeah, the properties that are great.
Alex:So for dogs that are, you know, summertime, I mean, I did.
Alex:I was at the.
Alex:Where.
Alex:Where were we?
Alex:The new forest show.
Alex:A lady came up to me on the first day and said, we camped here last night.
Alex:My dog has got midges, midge bites all over him, blah, blah, blah.
Alex:I said, right, I'll come to your store later on.
Alex:I gave him a full wash.
Alex:The next day I went back, the bites had gone and the midges just stay away.
Alex:Yeah, so that's our best seller, isn't it?
Alex:People love that because obviously midge bites and bottle of those.
Laura:And then we do.
Laura:And then we do bums as well.
Laura:And they're absolutely magic.
Laura:I mean, they're not just there for paws and nose and also creases and then.
Laura:But also for nicks and cuts and they.
Laura:It really does heal so quickly and other people have actually even used it on their own hands for psoriasis and eczema.
Laura:So we're going to make that into a human one as well at some point.
Laura:But it's so good.
Laura:It's so for the.
Laura:For the dogs, it literally, you know, if they just get a little nick, I mean, that can turn into all sorts of horrible stuff, you know, receptors and things like that.
Laura:So, yeah, that's.
Laura:That's brilliant.
Alex:And that's made with beeswax, coconut oil, shea butter, vitamin E and olive oil.
Alex:Olive oil.
Alex:And the magic of beeswax is it's a humicant.
Alex:So when they.
Alex:The dog automatic will lick their paws or lick their skin after it.
Alex:When they lick it activates it.
Alex:It activates all the properties and they're actually pushing the goodness in.
Alex:Whereas a lot of the balms you get are scented and the dogs lick them.
Alex:So the owner goes, oh, that smells great.
Alex:That smells like.
Alex:You know what I mean?
Alex:Like bubble gum or whatever.
Alex:And the dogs are low, but actually it's poisonous, so don't do that.
Alex:Yeah, yeah.
Host:But all this, all these, all these different products.
Host:Are they.
Host:Are you doing.
Host:Are you making these in your warehouse?
Laura:This is.
Laura:We've just moved because we've just got the new office got in there.
Laura:So it's a bit of a mess, but this is where we make it and obviously that's the stock area.
Laura:So we're, yeah, just going through a bit of a transition at the moment, but yeah, we make it over there.
Host:All handcrafted.
Laura:Yes.
Laura:Hand poured.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:Yeah.
Host:But how are you.
Host:How are you looking to sell this?
Host:Are you looking to sell to individuals and you're.
Host:You're able to sell this to groomers on a wholesale basis?
Laura:Yeah, to be honest, I mean, we started the journey thinking it would be for dog owners.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:But actually a lot of people don't wash their own dogs anymore.
Laura:They do take us to the groomers.
Laura:So there we go.
Laura:So we've moved to more the groomers, which is brilliant.
Laura:I mean, we've got a looking collie and we only need to wash her when she does.
Laura:Well, you know, as a.
Laura:I wouldn't need to take her to the groomers if you like, but obviously.
Laura:And some people don't wash their dogs, but, you know, but yes, we definitely.
Laura:We sell to the groomers.
Laura:We do sell to dog owners.
Laura:We do lots of shows.
Alex:You love.
Laura:Yeah, we get.
Laura:We are going to calm down on the shows a bit next year, though, because in all honesty, you know, you know, you lose money most times you go out.
Laura:Because people do ask quite a lot of money for the shows.
Alex:Yes, they.
Laura:And it's just, you know, some of the.
Laura:Yeah, some of the big dog shows is all you can kind of make your pitch back.
Laura:But obviously our product isn't something that people buy every five minutes.
Laura:So unless we do smaller, smaller bars and get people to come back in a bit better.
Laura:Yeah, we're going to do much more.
Laura:The groomers, definitely, because they do buy in quantity and we've just been stocked in vets as well, so that's another one.
Laura:We definitely want to be moving more into vets as well because it's not just.
Laura:It's a preventative, you know, so many dogs sadly have sensitive skin these days because the environment, because of the food and because of the rubbish that people washing them in.
Laura:Fundamentally, I mean, you know, personally, if we're also.
Laura:We both have sensitive skin ourselves, so we would only use certain things ourselves anyway.
Laura:And if I use something really synthetic, I'm.
Laura:I'm all crowns of pain, you know what I mean?
Host:So, yeah, to get cracked up does it especially in the weather as well.
Host:So, yeah, so you're looking for, obviously, groomers to use it themselves, either as a stop wash or then as a full wash.
Host:But are you then saying that they can Also stock it and upset to their customers.
Alex:Well that's, that's what we have groomers that do that.
Alex:They create a kind of little shop.
Alex:So they educate the owner then.
Alex:So it's like you use this all mat.
Alex:We use this to make your dog.
Alex:You love your dog being washing this.
Alex:Oh my God, my dog is so soft, it's so clean.
Alex:Blah, blah, blah, the matting has come out.
Alex:Blah, blah, blah.
Alex:You then.
Alex:Then the grooming then sells on the little bag to the owner to use at home as the spot.
Alex:What, what washes to keep the con continuity of the.
Alex:Of the shampoo.
Laura:It's like when I used to go to the hedge.
Laura:Well, I still go to the hedgehogs.
Laura:I need to go around.
Laura:No, but anyway I don't.
Laura:But they used to say to me I'll use this shampoo, you know, and I'd be like, for God's sake.
Laura:It's a bit of a con, is it?
Laura:Do you know what I mean?
Laura:Because it's just extra money but to be honest, actually use their shampoo and it is much better, you know.
Laura:And actually when you buy decent shampoo, I mean ours actually is quality and quantity for not very much money.
Laura:That's what we wanted to do, to be honest, make sure everybody wanted to.
Alex:Be accessible to everyone.
Alex:There is a dog shampoo on the market.
Alex:This one is.
Alex:It's about 90 quid a bottle.
Alex:So ridiculous.
Alex:I mean he was going to fall.
Laura:Yeah, the only natural, natural, truly natural and I believe I haven't actually used it myself, but truly natural shampoo on the market at the moment, two bottles like the shampoo and then conditioner separate.
Laura:Whereas our bar is all complete is 160 quid a set as is £10.
Laura:Like the same amount of washes.
Laura:It's insane.
Host:Yeah, I was thinking about.
Host:You had the.
Host:And I've got a sample of the small.
Host:The little paw print small bar.
Host:And I was thinking, you know, boomers like to give their clients a little gift over Christmas.
Host:I thought that's quite a nice little sort of.
Alex:Oh yeah, I'll show you the nice.
Host:A nice little sort of gift that you could give your clients as a little thank you Christmas gift.
Host:Because that like you said, they will go, go back and we've got a smelly dog like we have.
Host:Yeah, you're helping them out, aren't you?
Laura:Oh no, definitely.
Laura:Well, quite a few people have ordered already like that, which is brilliant.
Laura:And then also in the.
Laura:In the summer we for an agricultural show down here, a solicitor actually did White label.
Laura:They actually had some as promotional gift as well for their people.
Alex:P.
Alex:Our dogs.
Laura:Yeah, another client, another client as well did that as well.
Laura:Yeah, is.
Laura:Yeah, it definitely is a lovely little gift for somebody.
Laura:I mean we do them with or with it?
Laura:With the glove or without the glove.
Laura:If you just have them.
Laura:This is going to groomers, isn't it?
Laura:If we, if I mention the prizes.
Laura:But, but no, basically if it's just the, the poor on its own about a pound.
Laura:Do you know what I mean?
Laura:But with the glove I think it's about 2 pound 50 or some 3 pound tops.
Laura:So you know, it's.
Laura:No, it's not, no, it's not even that.
Alex:So not even that to sell to the groomers.
Alex:That's what you would sell it to them?
Alex:Yeah, to the owner, was it 295.
Laura:So then they can, yeah, they can put that.
Alex:You know what I mean?
Alex:And it's already cute.
Alex:You see, you get little, you get the instructions in there.
Alex:A glove about you.
Alex:You know, we, we.
Alex:We also have the.
Alex:The ethos is meant to be fun, you know.
Alex:So all of the shampoos are made by characters you see.
Alex:So Lord and Lady Pug make one shampoo, Brutus makes another one, Blur makes one, Sergeant McDorgal makes protect the Poor.
Alex:The poor bomb.
Alex:Also to encourage kids to get involved with washing the dog.
Alex:Like when we do some school markets down here.
Alex:Down here and the kids, they love it because we have cut out, cut outs of all the characters are huge.
Alex:So they come along, oh, what's this?
Alex:What's this?
Alex:Do we say?
Alex:Well you know, you can help your mom and dad at home.
Laura:Yeah.
Alex:You know, then the parents come along and which one do you like?
Alex:Were you like?
Alex:Oh, I like this one.
Alex:Man, that's, that's really cute.
Alex:Well, you got to wash your dog then.
Alex:Gotta wash your dog, you know.
Alex:So you kind of make it more, more of a fun because I know that it's when you've taken your dog on a beautiful walk and it's lovely and they, and they're dirty, it's the, it can become quite as you know, you have five dogs quite tiresome some sometimes and if your children are involved and think it's fun and that you know.
Alex:And also as well with, with the glove, you massage it in and dogs, they love it like mo.
Alex:Like our dog moles.
Alex:She loves it now she just sits there like that and you rub it in.
Alex:She's like, oh, it's lovely, lovely, lovely you.
Alex:You know, so it's more.
Alex:It's more fun for the dog as well than like just having cold water being chucked all over them, which mostly people do.
Host:Yeah, I, I couldn't.
Host:I can see it, you know, for, for pet groomers, I can see it working really well with.
Host:We.
Host:We sort of talk about add ons and upselling and spa treatments and value, you know, having something in like this on your shelf or as a gift.
Host:Like the small paws as a gift or the bars as a, as a, as a sales point when people come in and they ask, you know, have you got anything?
Host:Because my dog rolls in fox pool all the time.
Host:Have you got something?
Host:You're like, yeah, boom, it's here.
Alex:Yeah, it's here.
Host:Like you said, as you can see, it's presentable.
Host:Nice, nice cases and gloves and everything.
Host:And do you say you're.
Host:You do a white label?
Host:Is that something else that you're.
Host:So maybe you can just explain what a white label is, because some people might not.
Alex:All right, okay.
Alex:Well, if people want me to, I'll.
Laura:Say if they want their own branding.
Alex:Their own branding on it.
Laura:Yeah, but we would produce it and then, I mean, what we can do is we can do in entirely somebody else's name and that would be their branding.
Laura:Or we could do, you know, in association, made by Tillian family.
Laura:You know, so then we've both got, you know.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:Various different things.
Laura:I mean, we've done, we've.
Laura:We did it with Colin Taylor.
Laura:I mean, we gave him and Kelly Davis.
Laura:We gave them some samples like this as well, you know, and we kind of put their branding on it as well with them, you know, it's in.
Host:Partnership with, isn't it?
Laura:Yeah, exactly.
Laura:Exactly.
Alex:You know, if they wanted.
Alex:Yeah.
Alex:If they wanted their colors, for example, their branding on the soap, you know.
Laura:Yeah.
Alex:You know, so for Colin, we did it.
Alex:We did the bags and the glove and the shirts in his colors.
Laura:There were his colors gold and gold, black and yellow.
Laura:So we've done it with yellow.
Laura:So not gold because obviously we did have gold gloves.
Alex:Extent was so probably made up of gold.
Host:But you can even get into the brand colors if you, if someone's thinking about gifting it out to customers.
Host:You know, it could be like a pet's birthday or Christmas, you know, anything like that, couldn't it?
Host:You can have a bars made in your.
Host:In your brand colors with your own branding on it.
Alex:Totally.
Alex:Yeah.
Laura:Yeah.
Alex:You know, if it was pink, if they did have a pink van or wherever, I can make them pink.
Alex:Yeah, pink and gray.
Alex:And then they can be sent out.
Alex:Yeah, that's quite cool.
Laura:We've got so many ideas and it's just not enough time.
Laura:That's a problem.
Laura:We want to do the party packs and we want to do various other things.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:And already it's nearly Christmas.
Laura:We.
Laura:We finished the summer.
Laura:We had loads of shows over the summer.
Laura:I was like, ah, relief, we're gonna have a bit of a break.
Laura:And I was like, oh, my God.
Alex:We'Ve forgotten about Christmas and we're starting this Friday.
Laura:We've done a couple, but.
Alex:Yeah, no, but the first one is Salisbury on Friday.
Alex:We were like, oh, my God, already.
Host:It's the same time every year, you know.
Host:You know that they.
Host:Many people think I haven't done.
Host:When I was in the police, they always forgot there was Christmas, you know, when they were sorting out the shift work and the duties.
Host:Only look around once a year, guys.
Host:But, yeah, I think there's some lovely ideas.
Host:And we always talk about how can we provide our customers with more value.
Host:And value doesn't always mean that you have to spend lots of money.
Host:But it's great having a little gift, you know, just to pass on to your customer or recommendation or.
Host:Or something on the shelves.
Host:And when I talk to clients about stock, it's like, you know, look for stock that is of use.
Host:So, like, if they come in covering dog poo or horse poo, whatever, you know, you can brush them and wash them and groom them and then say between grooms, try this, you know.
Alex:Yeah.
Host:Being used, aren't you?
Host:You're being used.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:Also what people are saying, which is true, I mean, this tiny little bar would have about 20 washes, whereas you've got to have a 5 liter big, you know, bottle, and you've got to have one that does fluffy, one that does fuzzy, and then one that does the, you know, me.
Laura:And they're just all round bar with the different scents, up to.
Laura:Up to you, really, with the different properties.
Laura:But yeah, a little bar rather than, you know, all of these massive.
Alex:Yeah, you know, because the space that groomers have tends to be quite limited in their bands or their salons.
Alex:And this, you know, they buy 10 bars, it sits in an airtight box, it keeps the smell in.
Host:Boom, boom, boom.
Alex:Happy days.
Laura:Well, they can buy two or 10 or it doesn't matter.
Laura:Or 100 or 100.
Alex:100, yeah.
Laura:Yeah, hundreds.
Host:Well, I hope.
Host:Are you going to be at Crofts, do you know?
Laura:We have put an application in.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:We have been told a Couple of different things, whether to do it or not.
Laura:I mean, but I don't know.
Laura:It is an expensive one.
Laura:It is a good one to go to though.
Laura:So I think, I think we probably will if we get accepted.
Alex:We will, yes, we get accepted.
Alex:But that's the thing is because we're a fairly new company, sometimes they, you know what I mean?
Host:It's unsure as to who you are.
Host:It's all about brand exposure though.
Host:So.
Alex:Of course, yes.
Host:Hopefully you will be seeing you at the, at the grooming shows.
Host:There's hope.
Host:Laura.
Host:I think there's a Groomfest south.
Host:So that's probably south of south of England group and show.
Alex:Yeah, yeah, we'll do most of them.
Alex:Yeah, we're, we're, we're keep, you know, we're, we're so passionate that we'll go to, we traveled all over the country, you know, to go to them.
Alex:We want.
Alex:I'm.
Alex:Well, we both believe in it so much and the benefits that it gives the dogs and when you meet people who have used it that, you know, so you'll do one show, you know, not a dog show particularly, but if we've done like the Shaftsbury and Gillingham show, you know, you do that and then the next month you're at Dorchester doing.
Alex:And then someone will come.
Laura:Oh my God.
Alex:Yeah, we've used this.
Alex:Oh, the dog, feel the dog, feel the dog.
Alex:It's amazing.
Alex:You, you know, people genuinely, it's magic.
Alex:Yeah, magic.
Host:How do people find out about it?
Host:What's your website?
Alex:Tillianfamily.com.
Laura:Yeah.
Alex:Tilly family on Instagram.
Alex:There's videos on there that people can see how to.
Alex:That.
Alex:We've got some amazing groomers who are with us that post a lot with different types of breeds and, and, and that shows you how to use it.
Alex:And obviously it's not rocket science.
Alex:I mean it's fairly self explanatory but yeah, all the information's on there.
Alex:The backstory, the, the, the ingredients, you know, to people around it is just five.
Alex:I make it re.
Alex:You know, I'm quite a bit of a perfectionist with that.
Alex:Do you know what I mean?
Alex:H bar I, I've got a team but I, I QC them all.
Alex:Do you know what I mean?
Alex:I, you know, I want them all to be bang on and the same, you know, I don't like the idea of machines, if you know what I mean?
Host:Sorry, what's the, what's the best way for people to get in touch with you?
Laura:Oh, you can email tillylianfamily.com or Laura at.
Alex:Yeah, yeah.
Laura:He doesn't really look at his emails.
Host:That may be a problem.
Alex:Making all the stuff.
Alex:Jeez.
Alex:God.
Alex:All right.
Alex:Yeah.
Alex:Or the phone number.
Alex:I mean, we actually do.
Laura:And we.
Laura:You can ring us.
Alex:You can, you can.
Alex:The phones still exist.
Alex:Phones still exist, everyone.
Host:It's amazing.
Host:Is it?
Host:We've always got them in our hands.
Alex:But actually no one uses them.
Host:Uses them anymore.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura: So,: Alex:And that comes through to our mobiles and then you can speak to me about the process and everything, you know what I mean?
Laura:And place orders.
Alex:And to place orders.
Host:Yeah.
Alex:We want all the dogs to use Tilly and family.
Laura:Yeah.
Host:So go and check out the.
Host:The website, find out more about your soaps.
Host:Go and see you when you're at the trade shows and get a little sample, or like you said, sample it yourselves and.
Host:And see if it works for you.
Host:It's a great, great little shampoo you've got there, isn't it?
Laura:Thank you.
Host:Yeah.
Alex:And all the doggies love it.
Host:Bye.
Host:We'll leave it there.
Laura:Yes, brilliant.
Laura:Thank you very, very much.
Laura:All right, lovely.
Laura:See you later.
